when you climb higher you see further, and of course you are able to see more things, everything good and bad at a glance.. but never forget at the same time, you get more easily spotted, focused or striked.. it's about learning how to advanced, learning how to avoid and back-off.. most of the time rain is heavier and wind is stronger at higher ground, more exposed than lower land, you hence appear to be more vulnerable.. in order to stay strong, it really depend how steady your base is, and how much support you are able to get.. the higher you set, the more slanted the way climbing up, you are stuck between going up and going down, falling off from higher point cause more deadly injuries, that is why you take every precaution..

the ancient chinese poet Su-Shi (not sushi, but pronounced Soo-Tsih) had this in his famous poem of all time - "one can't fight the chill at higher ground".. literally the chill caused by being alone and helpless, but i would also say the chill caused by fears is actually more substantial, more real, more frightful..

  1. Your post describes the physical climb up a mountain and in as much it also describes the climb up in life. It's not easy to stay high up and yet maintain a humble attitude. Pride can be the downfall from the top.

  5. Therefore it is important to build up a strong base first before going high up......

  6. This is a great analogy. It applies to everything in life, I should say. And it's also lonely at the top.

Very nice picture. Did you take it? Where is the place?

  7. u recall my memory that the moment i was on the top of Kinabalu Mt.:P
that feeling was great, the land below my feet, something like u conquered the land u step... haha

  8. SuShi or not Sushi, you have to first really psyche yourself up before the climb....:)

  9. yeah~ agree with u...its like in the corporate world...if u wanna climb up the ladder...u must make sure u have enough support frm behind~ lolz

  16. Yo this post got me thinking & dreaming so much. I recall one supplier who climbed the roof of his house to fix the tile. It was slanted of course and he lost his balance. He fell flat to the ground crashing his head and died instantly. Well, his footing was not stable and firm on a slanted surface. So Leu has another good theory of the corporate world where I have witnesses TOO MANY fallen heroes. They lost their footing besides being shot by arrows from the back. Here, I would believe that Feng Shui helps the career to ward off untowards. Good luck Thamby!

  19. for every climb, there's a struggle corresponding to it. Yes you are vulnerable to failure or success..depends on how you pursue and finish your flight.

yeah that is actually what i'm trying to relate life and work to climbing a mountain.. hmmm, actually downfall can be caused by many other factors besides pride, that is why we should take every precaution :)

    fable frog:
it can be life, it can be work.. or it can be as literally as just about mountain climbing.. depend how you are gonna view it.. but of course i wrote this for some reasons.. :)

    Danny:
哈哈.. what is that about your big fall leh?? you gonna blog about it soon?? waiting.. :)

  22. Grass:
yes you are right, the base is always important.. and also how much support you can get is also important.. to me, staying up high needs a lot of supporting factors in order to stay tough.. :)

    HappySurfer:
thanks, and i am actually trying to bring out some message from the literally mountain climbing.. nope, i didn't take that picture, in fact i "took" it from some websites - the source of photo is written down on the photo itself :)

    Wois:
haha, i wasn't thinking really about how it feels to conquer a mountain, but rather related to life and work.. more spiritually rather than the literal message you got..

  23. manglish:
true, you need to be tough and well prepared for everything.. climbing up, or even you decided to back-off.. :)

    Leu:
yeah, a strong base and enough support is always important.. but other than that, there are actually many other factors you need to have in order to stay up high :)

    bluesole:
nothing really.. am trying to relate life and work with the mountain climbing.. just a sudden thought.. :)

    Superman:
everyone is there on their top, just depend how much further you are aiming to go, and how ready you are to stay up there.. :)

  24. Gratitude:
yeah, a sudden thought but there's this little triggering point that make me write about this analogy.. being at this position, it's good to contemplate and have that awareness.. keep steady and fact the world.. :p

    khengsiong:
hahaha, sooner or later you will sure be able to experience this, trust me you will.. :p

    tagnan:

  25. the happy go lucky one:
yeah you are right.. sometimes i do feel myself caught in such situation, and this mountain climbing analogy is quite true i somehow realised.. well, no worries, i can handle and have a good balance.. i have my life and good friends and caring family.. thanks for that advice!!

    Twilight Zone:
haha, thinking i can expect but why is Arumugam making so much dream about this post?? thought Arumugam don't go climb mountains but only run here and there chasing Ms Arumugam around the trees and bushes?? hahaha.. yes, it's really scaring to fall down from a high ground, not because you cannot get hold of it, but because of other external factors.. so i guess you must have a very good fengshui tip for me to ward-off all these factors?? hmmm, good luck is not enough, you must point out those fengshui tips to me.. kekekeke :p

hmmm, somehow it's true, because there are more things you see when you get higher, that's why you feel like you are actually such tiny.. well, then learn to grow bigger.. keke :)

    Ayie:
i agree with you, there's a struggle with every step you climb, the higher you go the more vulnerable you are.. yeah, and there is where you learn to be more steady and stay tougher..
