Do You Enjoy Shower??
Minions after shower
i heard that the French do not quite like to take shower or bath, and thus they are very good in perfume.. how often do you take a shower or bath?? once a day, twice a day, or maybe once every two days?? haha.. okay i confess, when i was studying overseas, there were many times that i skipped taking shower, especially during winter, because it felt cold and i thought i did not sweat, so let it be (because i was lazy!!).. but the fact is, we all actually sweat everyday even during sleep, we just do not realise that.. anyway, i only skipped one day each time but never more that.. of course back in here, it has to be shower everyday, i feel so uncomfortable with the greasiness and stickiness.. even if i just took a shower in the gym and headed home right away, i still will take a shower when i get home, hahaha.. i'm certainly not a clean freak, but i'm just use to it.. some may do a quick one by just rinsing with water and that's a shower.. but to me, since already wet, why not at least clean the body with soap also?? i don't take my own sweet time in the bathroom, a mere 10 minutes to get my hair shampooed, my body and face cleaned, i feel refreshed, smell good and that's it.. :)

  1. Good Morning bloggers. I just took my shower this morning.
I am very shocked to hear that the French don't like to shower. Oh my goodness. No wonder they produce the best house of perfumes.
I normally take shower twice a day on weekdays but up to four times on weekends.

    1. During the brutal winters in US, I still took my daily hot showers twice daily when the temperature outside was -15 degrees C!! I admit that I was not dirty and did not sweat a drop but psychology I did not feel 'clean' as it has been my upbringing since young to take daily showers. Maybe I love taking shower is the real truths.

How could Thambee not shower during winters?? Eeeewwww!!!

    2. I always like to shower in the gym after their exercises. Their showers tend to be extra specials with full blasts of hot rain showers! We don't get that kind of water pressure at home. Maybe the gym's management installed special water pumps for added pressure.

    3. Good morning ANay.

You always wear so neatly. well dressed. sure will never miss shower in the morning la. If the season where no water in Klang valley, am sure anay will still manage to take a shower before go to office.

Hahaha...funny la about their perfume. Hey...is the perfume name POISON mande by them? That was one heck of a strong perfume scent. Really can pengsan if stuck in a crowded mini bus . I kena before.

Anay...you have been to China many times right? I read in a book that people in China have a longer life span coz they no matter how cold it is , they will still mandi first thing in the morning. DUno true or not la coz that book i read was a fiction book.

I think betul la it is psychology...if tara shower...then will feel not clean. School holiday I went to Cameron. Darn cold leh...but still feel like sweaty....sticlky...especially the hair. . Die die must take shower. Alamak...their hot water ah...adui....like cold water only leh....

    4. I look neat? Oooooh! This Small Kucing mulut manis also fall under the SK taglines! LOL Yeah my wifey says I am crazy, always mandi 2-3 times daily and often before sleep so that I will be clean inside my dreams. I even comb my hair before sleep!

Yeah in China, the folks even swim in the rivers during winter for some cold shock treatment that could be beneficial to our body's cells. I remember watching the TV documentary that the Chairman Mao always participated their annual rituals of jumping into the Yangtze River during winter. There would be hundreds of them swimming for a few minutes while a thousand would clap and cheer for them. When I saw the hot spring onsens in Japan, they have the extremely cold water pool for the bathers to soak inside after getting into the hot waters. I saw the folks rotating around the hot and cold pools which made me think hard on its benefits. I could only guess that sometimes we might be able to trick our body and its cells with extreme shocks by using hot & cold water alternately. Just my 2 cents and wild guesses. I will ask my Japanese friend when I meet him in November.

yes...must remember to ask your japanese friend about this. Seems that those who bath in cold water have a better health. Duno how it goes la.But me biasa with the hot water...beh tahan if to bath cold water. Freezing leh

    6. Like TM, I also enjoy showering in the gym if there are not too many people. I especially don't like it at night as I needed to queue naked, with just a towel to cover my precious, to wait for my turn to use the shower room. Some even queue naked....!!

However, if there are not many people especially during the non peak hours, it's really nice to use their facilities. They have hair dryer, cotton buds, gel or crem for your hair, extra towel if needed, their house perfume and not forgetting the sauna and steambath. It's really very relaxing but then, we pay for it la...

And, there are hair and body shampoo for unlimited use...muahahaha..

    7. Chris like that it makes think of a drama, that girl she was trying to save money so she always shower at the gym and use the shampoo and body shower there, she said that really can save a lot duh!

    8. Huh? How much can she save like that....Hahaha.... Korean serial drama or hokkien drama? Hahaha

    9. Aiyoyo! What kind of gym this Chris go at night that need to queue up at night and parade in birthday suits? It doesn't sound right to me but I actually have heard the changing trends of bathers in the republic nowadays where they flaunt their assets to display their art pieces. So why Kurage Anay need to cover his private piece? The kurage too scary and enormous kah? Muahahaha

Here the gyms seldom have people queue up la and the macho guys all shyly wrapped up in towels like Ninjas. I only know at the MV Celebs gym has braver display artists parading around in birthday suits.

  2. I shower daily too, it is impossible not to in such a hot country like Malaysia. But usually I only shower once a day, in the evening after work. I don't have a habit of going for shower in the morning unless I have been sleeping in a pool of sweat the night before. Shower in the morning makes me feel cold and sometimes uncomfortable to be honest.

I have never heard of the French disliking shower/bath. I always thought it was the Chinese. I mean, China Chinese. I heard stories from my brother when he was studying in Japan, the China students will take a shower on an average of once a month. They would stink everyone out in the lecture hall before they even realize it themselves. Apparently this is due to their habit bred out of necessity back home in the rural places of China, where water is scarce and you simply cannot have a nice shower everyday, so their tolerance towards their body odour is on a different level compared to us.

    1. I am now getting another shock that besides the French, the mainland Chinese also disliked to shower. How could that be?? So unhygienic and smelly dei. Puuiiii!

I think it is quite possible since I heard that many houses in China do not have bathrooms or toilets. They have to go to the public bath houses or toilets to do their business. Many houses also do not have electricity supply and they all usually have to "tumpang" the first house to share their supply! That is how they live and we should be contented & happy here.

      Delete
    2. but not all mainlanders dislike shower kot? Saw some books says they will bath daily early morning in freezing water....to wake up their mind kot...there tarak starbucks LOL

      Delete
    3. Yeah la...I guess some of them live in very cold places and they bring the culture here. Well, habit are still habits and hard to change. I guess some of us also still following the habits of our forefathers , like not showering in the morning but just wash our face and brush teeth.

I also don't agreed confinement ladies not showering during the period. It's just something brought down from our ancestors in the mainland where the climate could be too cold for their fragile health, after birth. But over here, they already suffering eating the same kind of food in their diet and being not shower for one month is a real torture! Some of these believes doesn't make sense at all!

      Delete
    4. You better not argue with the confinement ladies who might know the secrets and taboos which was actually being practiced in the Imperial Palaces in ancient China. I also thought it must be the cold weather but I realised how much a mother would suffer the severe loss of their blood, nutrients and chi energy after giving birth. They can choose not to nurse themselves back to robust health but they definitely will suffer in later years if they happen to give birth to more babies the next coming years. It is a big sacrifice and they need the right amount of supplements to regain back the vigor and strengths to live healthily till old age. I am quite well versed with this matter as I have spent great deal of time listening to folks from Europe and Asia on their different way of confinement beliefs. I am not here to judge but I tend to believe that the Chinese way is very beneficial and logic.

I think when your next child comes, you should be the 'confinement lady' instead. Muahahaha

They said the secret is they shower daily in the early morning to ward of the body heat. Haha.... Not sure how true is it but that's a way for them to encourage us to shower more.

My friend said got stinking feet smell leh, gawd.. And, as if not enuff, the skin peeling leh, like got eczema like that.. He whatsapp-ed us and showed us the picture..

I was thinking, if my friend is a mat salleh, I think already complaint to stewardess asked to change place or something like that.. Or terus sound the fella.. But we Asians, tend to paiseh a bit, and dare not sound out, so no choice, gotta bear with the stinking feet smell the whole journey..

    7. I am thinking hard whether those folks you mentioned are from parts of China. Their country is so huge with the world's highest population. I am pretty sure not all the 1.3 billion people there wanna shower daily or perhaps many homes do not have bathrooms and they have to pay money to shower in public bath houses. Could there be reasons when some families are too poor to even shower so often when the little savings could be used to serve food on their dining tables.

    3. I use deodorant too, but it is not for the smell, I will use perfume if I want good smell. I use deodorant with whitening effect. You know la! We ladies need to wear sleeveless, not nice if our armpits are dark. So must use deodorant for whitening purpose. Now you guys said it is toxic, then I better drop using deodorant. I think it is better to go for other option such as using sea salt scrub to scrub the armpits during showering. It helps removing dead skin and whitening the armpits at the same time.

      Delete
    4. Sometimes I wonder those deodorants are safe to apply on the body or not. It's selling so cheap compared to perfumes and usually it is to spray or roll on the body. I wonder would it cause cancer in the long run.

But without it, unless you put on perfume, the armpit smell sure come out like during the durian season. People can smell it nearby especially if you sweat. For guys it's even worst since we don't shave our armpit hair. Maybe spray onto the shirt la.

      Delete
    5. Most deodorants are not safe to use as the toxic creams directly contribute to lympathic cancer as it is nearest to our arm pits. It would not happen overnight but it will happen, depending on your karma too.
If your arm pit is dark, then don't show it la!!! You are already fairer and still want a white arm pit like baboons? Muahahaha

I just read saw some recent news on the big number of stars being hired to make movies in the mainland where they get paid many folds higher and get the VVIP star treatments. I am glad for them actually as I never knew they were getting chicken feeds in the former colony island. Even the actresses have to sell and hawk their food to survive. So sad lah.

Nowadays the bigger and newer airports have started opening shower and rest areas inside the transit areas of their international airports for those who have to wait for over 5 hours above for the connecting flights. I was surprised that those paying facilities are very popular and that showed people are clean and hygiene in their habits. We probably have a mixed crowd of clean and dirty humans everywhere. I normally would carry wet towel wipes with me overseas and use them generously to stay dry & clean esp in Japan when their folks are so spotlessly clean freaks.

  12. aiyo...of course have to shower la in our hot and humid country. Well, in cold countries, I believe the folks there rarely shower as its too cold. I guess the colder it is , the lesser they shower. Furthermore, they won't sweat as much in colder climate. So, that makes sense to reduce showering in cold countries as I believe they will freeze in a short moment under those minus 0 degree. Even when I was in Cameron or Genting, I also seldom shower, probably once or twice a day cos its too freaking cold... brrrr..... and can easily can a cold. hahaha....

I know it is so shiok to use the deodorant sticks esp those with French brands and they smell so nice with confidence. I have been involved with the palliative care of the Hospice cancer patients and the facts about lympathic cancers have really shocked and scared me a lot.

  13. During my working days, I must shower before I go to work. Like you said, we sweat while we sleep and imagine all the body odour all over you and stickiness...yucks.. I can't stand it. Having said so, I don't shower when I was younger and when just started work. Probably I follow the schooldays routines where I never shower before going to school , in case I catch a cold as well as usually, time is always running out as its always a rush. Moreover, in the older times, we don't have water heater unlike now.

Anyway, it's my habit to shower every morning as I feel fresher and cleaner while get rid of all the body odour and bed smell. hahaha... Even if I am in a rush, I will quickly wet myself and put on some body shampoo and quick quick settled it. Of course, two things cannot rush, which is brushing the teeth and cleaning the face. The teeth are too precious while it's better to clean the face thoroughly. As for the body, can quick quick shower la.

I remember in my older days when I didn't shower at work and also never applied perfume, I can smell my body odour in office during those hot days...muahahahaha... Anyway, there are still lots of folks who didn't shower before going to work.

  14. Aiyo, this also can be a topic to discuss here. I think in countries where they have cold winter, people generally do not take daily bath or shower. This is understandable. Well, this is influence by my wife where I cannot sleep on the bed or sofa if I don't clean myself after coming back from outside. Anyway, I think it makes sense too as that is our home. Why dirty your house with all your sweat and smell. Just a 10 mins shower will do and it refreshes us too. My kids also follow the same routines, a quick shower every time they came back to home.

You may never know how dirty is the environment outside with all the fumes, chermicals and microbes all flying around and sticking to your skin. Sooner or later, it may developed into a disease that we may not be aware. Thus, it's always good to keep ourselves clean whenever possible. It's even worse now with the haze where the unseen pollutants are already sticking on our skin and our lungs. Drink more water to expel the toxic and exercise to sweat it out in the gym.

    1. If I sweat when I come home, I would just put a towel over the place I would be sitting or lying down. It is true that our sweats could easily seep through the fabric of the sofas and that would be very tough to clean in future.

    2. hahaha....might as well you get a shower and then turn on the air-cond if its too hot. No need to wet the towel and need to wash another garment.

Some fabrics especially carpets or pvc sofas can easily spoils with sweat or spilled kopi or chemicals... Have to take care le.

    3. Oh well, taking showers is the best to stay clean but what if we are so tired when we got home and need to rest first with sweats?? It is better to rest and relax with a towel instead of jumping into the shower stall right away. We are not dogs lah.
If you come back home with sweats, you are not supposed to shower right away lah! You opened pores would absorb all the waters and you will become a dented sotong in near future. So you need to wipe dry your sweat before shower! nah, you need to wash another fabric too. Amboi your sotong theory can wake the corpses up laughing before dying once again. Wakakaka

  16. Yeah, like you, I also shower again after showering in the gym. Well, can't help it as I needed to travel a long way in the train or bus back to my SG home. By the time I reached home, I will be sweaty and a quick refreshing shower will helps, though most part of my body still clean la...

I understand why you needed to shower after the gym even you drive home. Somehow, there's this urge to clean ourselves when we are back home rather than heading straight for the bed. Yeah, no need to put in a lot of efforts, just a simple shower will do.

During weekends, after a nap, I do also shower before a game of badminton or a run. I find that I feel more alive after the shower though it's unnecessary as we will be full of sweat after the game. So, I shower again after the game and I feel good.

Thus, I only shower once or twice a day then. The more I shower, the colder I felt...hahaha...

The best is after my run or gym workout, after a meal and shower. Then , hide inside an air-cond room to surf or read or commenting on blogs like what I am doing now, before calling it a day!

Imagine they have been using soap for all their life. And, like my dad, he likes the 'clean' feeling after washing with soap compared to some body shampoo which it is still 'unclean', you felt your skin is still oily or something. These are the do called body shampoo they mentioned that is 'soapless' and its good for delicate and sensitive skin.

Most facial cleansers are like that.

Hey...another thing that i heard was that they smell funny coz all the cheese that they ate. LOL....ya...sound so racist hor.

Guess over there when they talk about asian, it will be the same la. for them we pulak will smell funny...sweaty and stinky...all slit eyes...cant differentiate between one asian to another.

Yeah la..it's the cold weather there which actually, they do not need to shower. In cold weather, they hardly sweat, thus they will have lesser body odour. And, when they step into the bathroom naked, I am sure they will be frozen like Elsa if they shower for an hour.

Maybe if they have an heater and hot water, that might have a difference la. Who knows, there are still individuals who love to keep themselves clean in cold weather.

Funny thing about perfume and sweat is that we..ourselves..cannot smell it ..maybe perfume you will smell la when you spray or put it on but after like 5minutes your nose will be biasa with it already and won't feel like got wear perfume at all leh. Maybe that is why people tend to spray a lot of perfume. They thought tarak smell padahal it is their nose that got accustomed with the smell already. Same goes for sweat. Not really la... some folks who came back from overseas always shower cos it's too hot here but seldom put on perfumes. I guess depends on individuals la... Morning, I must shower before leaving house. I agree with SK, we do sweat during our sleep even though we took shower right before going bed. We still need to shower to clean areas like armpits, private areas, back, chest and neck. Those areas are always need special care.

Back from work, I must shower again before I go for exercise. After exercise, I take shower in the center. Like Anay said, the bathroom in the center has special effect that can cool down the hot body immediately. I prefer showering with cold water. After gym shower, I will plenty of anti bacteria shower gel to wash all the sweat from whole body, especially my back.

I read somewhere, it is no good to use soap or shower gel too often in a day, it will dry up our skin. So, I limit the usage of shower gel to once or twice a day, i use it especially after work out in the gym.

Anyway, nowadays, night shower also quite fast la, but not as fast as morning. At least, will try to clean the body more thoroughly especially after a run around my area.

Yes, soap and body shampoo which contains soap can dry our skin. And, there are some body shampoos which don't contains soap or lesser soap. My wife did buy those but I dislike it. 33. I like to shower even in four winter country, don't know, i guess I'm get used to it, if I don't shower, I'll feel myself very dirty. I will shower twice a day, first is right after I woke up then second is after I get back from work or from outside. The only time I got to skip is maybe I'm too tired or too late at night. Elderly people said if take bath at late night will cause the bones pain when you gets old. So I better don't take the risk.

10 minutes is pretty fast to me, I need at least 15 minutes if I wash my hair, maybe because I've long hair, and also need to apply some body scrub, hehe!

But one more thing is my evening shower that one, don't know why I like to go to sleep after it, people said after shower will be awake instantly but for me is the other way round. And the thing is I just wash my hair, the hair still wet, can't go to bed, and the thing is just 6pm but I feel sleepy, guess I was too tired from work everyday ya!

  34. I also have this psychology matter like you and need to shower no matter how cold the brutal winter could be. 36. I love my shower time! But sometimes depends on mood also, don't know why sometimes will feel lazy and don't wanna go to bath one, especially when I need to wash my hair, cause washing my hair is tedious, even though my hair isn't the very long type, but also need wet it, put on shampoo, then massage, then rinse, then put on conditioner, then dry it with hair dryer, then put oil and gel then style it, LOL, sounds like a lot of works hor? May be that's why I am lazy going into shower room sometimes. But I do love the feeling after a nice bath, feel like whole body smells good and clean, cause need to carry and feed baby ma, so body must be clean all the time.
Normally I bath twice a day la, once in the afternoon and once in the evening, regardless of weather. As for shampooing the hair, once every 2 days.
Will not skip bath no matter what. Unless during confinement, hoho, that one I don't have a choice, cannot bath everyday....

And normally, if I don't shampoo my hair, I can kaotim shower within 5 minutes, hehehe :p
But if need to shampoo the hair, probably another extra 5-8 minutes ba!

    1. Yeah lor, I knew ladies dreaded washing their hair especially those long hair. Unlike us guys, you all have to take care of so many things like what you mentioned. If you asked me to do like that, I rather let the shampoo girls do it besides massaging my scalp....muahahahaha...

Even applying conditioner every twice a week I also lazy. Hahaha... But all ladies cannot tahan without shower, at least two times a day. Probably ladies took care of their bodies more than guys.

I pity my wife during her confinement period. The confinement lady was very strict and ask not to shower for a month but I know she can't take it. When asked my permission whether she can shower or not and I told her by all means, just take a quick shower.

    2. Kurage Anay, I wanna laugh so hard at your comments. Why are you so lazy to apply hair conditioner to your crown?? You are so hamsap and want to pay the ladies to do it for you. I wonder whether a hair wash got happy ending too? Wakakakaka
I am still laughing dei... you behave as if your hair is thick like a jungle.

Eh hello - Why you pointed out that SK has run out of topic to blog but the topic seems perfect for you to spam so hard like a THOR. As I mentioned earlier, he takes great lengths to think of suitable topics for us to debate la.
