23.04.2013 | 急性的我

[Volume 8 Issue 4, #1710]
i realized i can be quite impatient at times, besides the "etiquette" of taking elevator that i've blogged earlier, one can easily notice my impatience at the ticket gates of our train systems.. apart from queuing up that is inevitable, i request myself at the same time hope passengers in front of me to act more quickly, as if one second makes a difference..
  • while you are in the queue or even before you queue up, please get ready your card on hand to tap.. don't ever wait till it's your turn, but you are there to slowly search for your card from your bag or anywhere on your body.. in this case, i won't feel rude to overtake and let myself get through the ticket gate first..
  • the machine is actually smart, you don't have to wait till it tells you to tap your card before you do that.. after the passenger in front has tapped his/her card, you can already place yours on the sensor waiting for it to scan your card.. this shall save 3 seconds each time, and with the long queue it can add up to a minute's time..

  1. Good morning SK, everyone! Looks like another sunny day here again in bustling Kay-El - that is until the late afternoon electrical storms take over. We've had that the past two days. Will today's make it lucky three?!

    1. Relax, man! Life is to be lived not rushed. Good thing for you we don't share an elevator because I'm not one to press the 'close' button. What's the point? The door will close by itself. Psst.. life is too short and unpredictable to stress over the small stuff..

  2. Woiii Thambee... you should live in Shanghai! The restless youngsters like you are in abundance there. They shocked me in the crowded stations rushing to catch trains daily.

    1. If they have no tickets, they just run below the gate to get through! If the machine is slow, they just jump over the gates like China acrobatic stunts. Anay just stood there speechless!

    2. Here our people walk so slow inside the stations, taking their sweet time. No wonder you get so impatient. Relax and breathe deeply!

    3. The commuters in Japan walked very fast inside the stations but the Shanghai fellas ran instead like competing in Olympic Games. So scary! Which one do you prefer?

Anyway, the stations have tight security checking now where every bags need to be X-rayed nefore they enter. That will waste even more time BUT many fellas just ignored and walked past! How could the assigned 3 security officers handle the thousand crowds in all stations?? Susah lo.

    4. Shanghai one so ganas ah? No tickets also can board the train ka.

I think i prfer Japan one lo. at least no pushing leh. Later kena push under the tracks or kena pick pocket leh.

    5. Adoi, the Ah Hua would fall in the "Slow-moving aunties" category when come to this scenario.

I didn't board any train for more than 10 years, I didn't know what is the dos and don'ts, I didn't know their advanced technology. One thing for sure, I'll act like a lost baboon in the concrete jungle @_@

    6. Meow,
      In Japan, got push one.

During rush hour, train staff actually are around to push you into trains and made it more packed! I've experienced it! FUN! LOL

    7. Lina, the Japanese people are too polite & don't push each other or jump queues like in Shanghai.

  4. Good morning, SK. Same here. I am also a very impatient people.

But I think you are not impatient, those people are not considerate to others. That's why they tend to hold up the queue and waste people time in waiting.

I seldom take train. But I hate some people queue up at the cinema ticket counter, they like to discuss about what movie they want to watch, what seat they want to buy. Aiyoyo, my area has only one cinema, so you can imagine the queue or not?

Those people cannot make up their mind what movie to watch, what seat to buy before they reach their turn to buy the movie ticket, how sad! I really geram at those people. @#$%^&*, I will curse silently in my heart. Muahahahaha!

    2. 5 in 1 is referring to blogging, baking, gym, working and mummy of two right? Hehehehe!

Ya this undecided on what show to watch also happening over here la.

    6. I have higher patience level.... I will take my own sweet time while waiting for others, provided I'm not in the rush. I always plan ahead.

There was once I waited 20 minutes in the queue for cinema ticket. I was only 3-person away. A pair of loverbirds took 10 minutes to choose what movie they wanted to watch and where they supposed to sit. M*****f******! Opps~

  6. you mean in your train system.. you no longer need to buy tickets? ... Now i realized how outdated our country is when it comes to this manner.. Typically, we have to queue first in ticket booth station, get the swipe cards which only last for one ride back and forth... though you can get a bundle with maximum of 5 rides back and forth..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. We used to have to buy ticket and still can do that . But we also have cards where it can be use for various transportation modes like bus and trains

    2. Though nowadays, I always scared my tokens get misplaced! LOL

Cards easier to stash away than token for me. xD

      Delete
    3. that's really interesting... I think our government should step it up and leave the old way ... sigh

      Delete
  7. after getting the card, you have to queue again on the entrance i which you have to swipe the card... then you have to wait for the train to arrive... if not quick enough, you have to wait for the next train.

    ReplyDelete
  8. so basically, if you are an impatient guy .. you will not dare to try the MRT stations here LOL

    ReplyDelete
  9. oh one more thing... bfore arriving a the booth station... you also have to queue for the inspection haha

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Inspection? means like indonesia where the guards will do an inspection before you can enter any shopping mall?

      Delete
    2. unfortunately .. yes we still have to undergo inspection but not as strict like those in airport.. they will simply check your bags

  10. Good morning SK, ladies and gentlemen!

Hmm, I can be impatient like you actually. The case you're mentioning, though I hardly face it, I can certainly understand your concern! Some people actually wait til their turns then only dig their bag to find the card, duh~

    2. You said 'in this case, i won't feel rude to overtake and let myself get through the ticket gate first..', sure ar? What if that person in front of you scold you 4 letters word?? Hehehe..

    3. Hmm since you are very impatient, then I think you won't queue up for those promotions like Sushi King RM 2 bonanza?

      Delete
    4. I won't queue up for the now-RM3 bonanza.... unless my kind hearted friends to book for me T_T

  12. wei rushing to where? tap so fast also still have to wait for the train to come leh.

Me usually wait till the other person crossed and the door closed before i tap coz worried the machine will jam up and "eat" my money.

Donkey years ago kena once at KTM. I tap too early ...the other person gone thruough the door and it shut

I tried tapping again and the door wont open. end up have to buy ticket then come home lodge report. So troublesome leh. They asked for card balance la then asked for which station la and asked what time this and that. Waited more than a month baru get refund.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. but then again me too la will geram if the person sampai the "gate" then baru wanna dig out the pass. Already know going there , why not prepare first leh.

Same goes for bus la. Board the bus already baru wanna dig out the money. Padahal before that sitting there waiting for bus doing nothing

Super market counter also same. sighhhhhh...

      Delete
    2. hahaha me also impatients la. I guess everyone will have it at one time or another. You noticed or not...when you rushing for time then the people in front of you will seems to be going slower and slower like dragging their feet

  13. My hubb and my daughter are the impatient ones in the family. My son and I are better than them, muahahaha! I have no story to share about boarding a train or using the "fast" card to get through the gate, but I have tonnes of "impatience" story to tell.

    1. My daughter can be very impatient and she grumbles her classmate when her classmate arrives late at school (they promise to wait for each other, duh!). I think she did that numerous times and once her classmate cried because of the grumbling.

Eventually I "received" notice from her mother and I had to punish my daughter and asked her to keep quiet and don't wait for her classmate.

  14. It's the same as the turnstile at office towers.

I dunno why people need to wait till lights all clear before tapping their card.

I just tap mine immediately after the person in front of me did and walk past so there will be less queuing time.

If there are like 20 ppl in one queue, a 3 sec wait for each person can actually cost a lot of time!

    ReplyDelete
  15. It is also the same thing happen waiting in front of the traffic light. I also dunno why they like to wait the light turn green and take a few seconds to drive. Can't they just get ready?

Suppossingly one traffic light can passed many cars, when the first driver slow down, then only a few cars can gone through! duh!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If they love to daydream, then go back sleep. Some even didn't notice the light turn gree until those cars behind "pin pin"...

      Delete
    2. Angeline, they are not daydreaming, they are whatsapping or playing candy crush while waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Muahahaha!

      Delete
  16. Hubby also grumbling when driving thru highway and passed by plaza toll. Hubby travels alot, smart tag is the smartest and fastest way to go through, but somehow most of the time the car in front definitely can't pass through.

Get ready and don't let the cars behind waiting for you... How silly when the car need to reverse behind and so do the rest whom followed behind. Aiyoyo!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This scenario is a very good example and match well with SK's today topic. Those people are really KNS. Smart tag is for smart user la!

      Delete
    2. Muahaha... actually when people invent something is called Smart Tag, then the end sure should used it smartly...

Ok, maybe first time they delayed. Cos they can't figure it out how far is the distance between to scan the smart tag...

But second time should be better and so on.

    3. oops is "end user" not end sure...

  17. They should see HK and SG people using their MRT tag card...very fast very efficient, when they gone down from the MRT, they walk fast and tag fast...

When I was there, I will try my best to get ready and tag faster too!! Hahaha...

    1. In my opinion for those people is yet to be ready, then please stand aside and don't block people going through. Once they found their card, then queue up again. Very simple logic.

    尤其是吉隆坡捷運的票閘就這麼少

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good evening, SK and all! Oh, I don't experience that since I hardly use the train. Anyway, those people should be efficient enough in getting ready their cards before their turns.

    ReplyDelete
  20. well we probably has one of the worst train system
there's a lone in ticket booths, another line on passenger waiting area at each station and then when you got in to the bus expect yourself to be squezed

    ReplyDelete
  21. well i think this makes sense
i think you're right each must do something to save time
for each second on most people matter

    ReplyDelete
  22. well i guess the most annoying were those people
who talks a lot and was thinking of preparing her stuffs
so when her turn she would probably be searching herself foe her tickets

    ReplyDelete
  23. and i guess the train station also got something to do with it,
he must imply better rules and more people to assist
    the passengers

    ReplyDelete
  24. I seldom ride train, yet at those few times i experience

    ReplyDelete
  34. Actually it's kind of impolite to hold others back so if you have to search for your card, then at least let the one behind get through first.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I can be impatience too...especially at TnGo lane. When the car in front of me still taking his/her own sweet time to search for the TnGo card. aii.....really makes my blood boiled.
