no, it's not my birthday (still two more months to go anyway) but actually a topic on birthday party that i had with a friend the other day.. we realised birthday parties nowadays are mostly done in restaurants or karaoke, we really miss those days when we have birthday parties at home all directed by the all-rounded mothers..

still remember those typical malaysian home style birthday party, where you will have the default fried beehoon, curry chicken, spring rolls, fried chicken wings, rose syrup jelly, watermelon basket and cordial orange juice?? or course not to miss some red eggs and birthday cake, covered in fattening butter cream and not forgetting that two pieces of biscuit rose to decorate.. so classic yet makes me miss those days so much, if any friend is throwing such party i sure will accept the invitation, haha.. :)

  31. I think modern moms prefer that their house not be messed up because they are the ones doing the cleaning up mostly. No? Also, people are more outgoing and affluent these days as well as more choices of fun places and activities.

    So nostalgic, your down-memory-lane episode.

yeah, it's actually the preparation and after party mess that you need to take care of.. albeit those, i think it's kind of fun as you can have everyone gather at your house and you can get the kids to play games and win prizes.. i'm sure they'll love it very much.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I always prefer to celebrate it at home (my kids' party: http://mylittlesprouts.blogspot.com/2010/08/little-sprouts-big-day.html)... but thing twice too if ended up have bundle of mess to clean up, better opted for restaurant or bistro, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  67. @ Alice Law:
yeah, it's definitely happier to celebrate that at home but then likewise you said, it's the preparation and post party mess that really make us retreat from having that idea right?? haha..

    @ Caroline Ng May Ling:
of course having it done at home is more fun, but then have to minus off the after party mess lah, hahaha!! wow, your mom is still doing that for your little bro and sis?? good leh, i like that.. so she'll cook all those food?? hehe, next time you celebrate outside, you bring your own red eggs to the restaurant lor, wakakakakaka!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  68. @ Ashley:

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ooh! I don't even celebrate birthdays! Dont talk about birthday parties!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. But I do celebrate my friend's birthday and yes mostly we just go out to eat. Never at home.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I guess it's more convenient and hassel-free to have a party outside cos if at home, too many things to prepare and dun forget, you need to clean up afterwards!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think the post-party's clean up is what puts people off having a party at home. Better just have fun elsewhere then go back and sleep! Dont you agree? : D
