[Volume 10 Issue 4, #2013]
Stay Healthy - Walk 10,000 Steps A Day
Stay Healthy by Walking 10,000 Steps A Day

i once read somewhere that walking is a good form of exercise.. we all walk everyday no doubt, but how much of walking do you think could classify us as "having exercised"?? it says walk 10,000 steps a day.. this sounds like a big number and who the hell of us counts how many steps we walked in a day?? i never bothered, until i found this apps called "Health" shipped with my phone that logs the number of steps i walked.. i do not know how this "pedometer" works but if that "fruit brand" invested millions and years in the R&D of this thing and finally released it to the users, i better believe its credibility, haha!!

so i have been rather excited about the number of steps i walked lately, i check that apps every now and then and try my best to hit the 10,000 mark everyday.. i know,if i run like the archetypical her on the trails or him and her on the treadmill, i won't have to worry a thing.. but the thing is, i am TOO HEAVY to run (imagine a jello running all wobbly, susah lah kan??), and my ankles hurt if i do!! so i resort to walking, thank god, believe it or not?? it's actually not difficult to log thousands of steps a day, we just do not realise that.. and i am happy that i can maintain a daily average of 10,000 steps, bravo to myself!! so everyone, let's all start to walk a little more everyday, park your car a tad further from the entrance or walk out to tapao instead of driving won't die lah.. :p

That Day on Last Saturday
One Day Schedule on Saturday

四月一號GST(goods and services tax)之前, 大家都要有個GST(great shopping time)嘛..
ZZZZZZ
i looked at some of my old posts and i noticed that i do have a handful of posts that i just reported what i had done for the day, i even had the activities detailed in chronological order!! now i remember why i did that, i was blogging daily and this is one easy way to get done with a post, simply simple (simple as in i do not have to scratch my head for ideas, doesn't mean i don't need to spend time writing), haha.. okay, i also want to do this again today, but enhanced with interactive scripts, hehe!! anyway, i guess the last time i did this was years ago, so i am not doing this to torture you that often lah.. (or maybe i should do this more often??) :D

>> Read what i did last Saturday...
TimeActivityPhoto
09:45i actually woke up at 8:15am but since it was a weekend, i continued to sleep in, and by the time i woke up again, it was already 9:45am.. ah, non-working weekend!! :)
10:30breakfast at my usual place after washing up and dressed up for the day.. i know it's brunch time, but that's my first meal of the day and i'm not going to skip lunch later, so i call it breakfast!! :D
12:30arrived at Want-You shopping mall, found a parking in less than 5 minutes entering the mall, you call that lucky!! went straight to Celepretty Fatness for a workout before enjoying the rest of the day..
14:30quick lunch at MacRonald, obviously fast food chains are the only place you can settle a meal that comes with a drink under RM10 in a shopping mall.. i hate having to pay RM10+ for something i can have at half the price at kopitiams outside..
14:50head to JSC and watched a Cantonese movie titled "Little Big Master" (五個小孩的校長) based on a true story.. a headmistress resigned from a reputable international kindergarten, went to a kindergarten in a remote village with only 5 poor students, which was facing closure due to lack of students and funding.. the movie goes about how she get along with the kids and their parents and eventually saved the kindergarten from closure.. a simple but happy and also touching movie..
17:30after a 30-minute break, continued with the second movie of the day, "Insurgent" which i guess i do not need to introduce any further?? remember the factions Erudite, Amity, Abnegation, Dauntless, Candor and of course, the Divergent?? this is the sequel of which i find the previous instalment nicer to watch..
19:45dinner at AFC!! haha, i know i know, fast food again you probably asked?? yes, for the same reason above again.. call this day my movie and fast food day, haha!! anyway if you'd like to know, i didn't snack at all during the movie dei :p
20:15did some shopping and i guess many people also had some GST (great shopping time) before GST (goods and services tax) implements on 1st April.. bought myself two pairs of pants (two because of buy one get one free) for work, no need formal but we go smart casual..
22:30reached home, took a shower and then drafted this post (yes, i always write my posts in advance and then schedule them to be published at a later time) before i called it a day.. ZZZZZZ

Chilling Out at Sungai Chiling
Was what I did the past weekend. Rarely do I go for outdoor activities. So must write about this hiking trip at Kuala Kubu Bharu. It's a big thing, you know. HAHAHA

We bunked in at a skimpy rumah tumpangan in KKB town the night before and after breakfast at one of the mamak restaurant, we drove over to Sungai Chiling Fish Sanctuary. Arrived there rather late, at 9:30am. Groups of hikers came in cars, and their cars seen parked on both sides of the main road.

Some were even preparing to depart. But we were, of course, not considered the late ones. They were early. ^^
Kuala Kubu Bharu
My first time there. And just gotta follow another friend who has been there. We were to get to the waterfall at the other end, through a forest reserve. And more kindling, crossing a river along the hike. 6 times to be precise.

I was all equipped with my brand new hiking sandals (bought for this event) and a handful of salt. Leeches that I am bothered with. Call me newbie. Overly zealous newbie who thought these are the gist of hiking. ^^
Kuala Kubu Bharu
It commenced with a little walk cutting through trees and bushes. Supposed to be a forest reserve, so shall we call it. Not until later when the walking trail turned a real hiking trail, or almost not a trail at all, that was where the real fun began.
Kuala Kubu Bharu
Saw some interesting plants I have seen only on pictures. None could I even tell the name. I know they are definitely not condoms, grapes, monkey tail and rambutans as their shapes suggested nevertheless. Touche.
Kuala Kubu Bharu
Venturous more felt when we began to cross the river. First. Second. Calf-height. Third. Fourth. Above my knees. Fifth and just below my butt. That was when we decided to strip down to our swimming trunks and dip into the water. Awesome. Cold water running over our bodies and splashed onto us as we laid on small rapids. So close to the nature I felt. Sixth and repeat.
Kuala Kubu Bharu
Six river crossings and two dips, we finally reached the waterfall. Scent of fresh water, laughter of kids playing and sounds of falling water hitting rocks. How often do you see no building and car, but just trees and water around you? When was the last time?
Kuala Kubu Bharu
It was fairly crowded at the waterfall that we spent just 20 minutes. No nasi lemak for us. And screams from kids can be quite exasperating. Heading back to the entrance down the same trail, repeating the crossings six, five, four, three, two, one. And a small hike through the forest. Two hours. Or probably a tad little more. It was sheer fun. :P

And do uols find this familiar? Gotcha. Back in KL and Plan B's big breakfast as a reward to the newbie for making it through. Hihihi!
Plan B
Gratified. Burp.

And zilch is when you burnt some calories earlier but fed in more afterwards. Hukhukhuk! ^^
this post is a tribute dedicated to lina @ Life, In My Own Backyard (the post title 後院生活 is Life In Backyard translated into Chinese).. her always inspiring posts about running and improving, and witty thoughts about parenting and stuffs, are surely something that i learn a lot from.. and oh, not forgetting her deep English and SMS-style vocab!! haha.. in real a famous runner, Lina is a contemporary woman of the new era with her own way of thinking.. dearest Mak Glam, thank you for being there and how do you feel flattered with this post mimicking your style of blogging (of course mine is lousy vocab)?? kekeke.. :p

[Volume 8 Issue 9, #1785]
yes, you see one set of water bottles in different colors, but sorry to say that this is not a giveaway post if you thought so!! hence if you stop reading and close the window, i totally understand and will not frown upon that, haha!! actually i wanted to talk about how uncle i was for these four water bottles.. how uncle was i?? it all started with that home and living exhibition in town last week.. so, everyday the first 1000 visitors who registered at the entrance will each get a limited edition water bottle as seen above for free.. initially i wasn't keen at all on this kind of marketing promotion, but on the very first day i coincidentally passed by, furthermore since i've also got time so why not?? and so it ended up i got the red one, and i liked it very much!! since then for the next three days, i went there everyday, I UNEXPECTEDLY WENT THERE EVERYDAY!! it's a different color on each day, hence i went there early in the morning for a total of four consecutive days just to queue up for the bottles.. i actually thought since i've already have one, might as well collect one whole set right?? to put it in a nice way, it's because i am a determined person who seek for perfection.. to put it as it is, i guess the auntie-ness in me kind of made me go all the way for the freebies as if they were gold!! so unbelievable i did that, because that was not the usual me either~~ :D

[Volume 8 Issue 8, #1764]
what stays at one corner but can always travel around the globe?? no prize for guessing it right, since the answer is so obvious in the photo above~~ when you are affixing a stamp, do you usually out of convenience just dampen it with a little saliva on your tongue (i.e. lick it), and then spat it right on the envelope?? for me it depends, if there's water or glue conveniently available of course i wouldn't, afterall it's really not hygienic at all doing so.. and i still remember when email wasn't that common yet, especially during my uni days, letter correspondence was the only more economical way to keep in touch with family and friends.. those days having letters sent might be quite a burden, hence we "created" a postage stamps recycle method.. very simple, just coat a layer of transparent glue on the stamp, when you soak it in water, the glue will dissolve and naturally the date stamp would be ripped off the stamp itself, dry it and the stamp is usable again.. haha!! however don't expect one stamp could be used forever, with this method i'd say it can last for 3-4 trips, at least saved us some money right?? of course i only did that when i was a student back then, now i don't even bother to waste time to think about doing that, haha!! :D
