If We Could Turn Back Time...
Turn Back Time
if we could turn back time, will you immediately draw up a list of those things that have made you felt regret or even still feeling regret, and then get them done one by one?? or maybe learn from experience and redo all that have led to now awkward situations, so that you can start all over again?? or probably just do nothing but to accept that bygones are bygones, there is no need to cling on to the past matters but to move on is more important?? i believe no matter how happy and optimistic a person is, he or she would have some regrets.. unless he or she is an almighty, i guess it is quite impossible to totally forget about the past, even though something may seem to fade with time, they are actually still buried in the heart.. hence if i could turn back time, i guess i really have a lot to do.. oh well, i know i know maybe it's too early to dream but then don't you think it feels more hope if we actually daydream once in a while?? haha!! :D

  2. I always wish can be like that, but think on the bright side, if don't have the old me, it won't become who I am now. Of course is good to change the history, but things always happened because of a reason, if without that, the result will be different too...

    3. agree.. if we could go back to the past and then change what has already happened, then it would also be a different us at this moment..

    4. I also started to believe that everything happens for a reason after I have matured in my life. During my younger days, I had no idea of fate and what it meant. Now I believe that it is good fate that I found Thambee through the internet. That must be good fate to find a crazy and foulest mouthed Thambee who never failed to tickle my ribs.

    5. I also believe in fate, it brought you to a wrong person where you learn a lesson, then brought you to a right person to become a better person.

You are right that we need to think a lot or day dream as the mind power will greatly help us to draw our ambitions, greed and needs to materialize. If we do not put thoughts to anything, how it happen? If we never want to buy lottery or TOTO, it is quite difficult or impossible to get rich until millionaire! So many people have become millionaires every week from the 3 different gambling numbers. Hope I will be the next yeah, keep dreaming for me.

They are such a big contrasts in the society of fast and young blood who seems to be hurrying everywhere in their lives. I pictured that someday I would also be like them sitting on the benches looking at the ponds and pots of flowers.

  7. hahaha... That is what I always thought of when I was a late teen. If I could turn back the clock, like how Johnny Hates Jazz sang the ..erm..classical hit in the 90s. Of course, everybody has regrets and no one has a perfect life!To me then, well its always the relationship cum puppy love matters and of course, wish could have do better in the exams. During then, wish I could do this or do that and etc... I even thought of I should run and workout in the gym then ...hahaa...

Anyway, all of us have tried our best on how to live our life, given our situations then. Even now, we do have regrets over yesterdays or even words that we just spoken not long ago. We may said ..aiya...I shouldn't have said that and so on. Sometimes, I do thought of how I could do better in my teen life, my college life, my career , finance and etc... The list go on and on ... hahahah...

Most importantly is to live now and by not thinking of the past, we are living in the present. Just like the saying - Yesterday is like a dream, the future is not here yet. Live well today and we have better yesterdays !

There is so much good reading materials and history books only in Chinese which I sadly could not read to understand. I am glad my wife could translate them for me anytime but she made me realise that one would enjoy to feel the meaning better if they could read the Chinese way of expressions.

Wow! I like Kurage's quote ~ Yesterday is like a dream, the future is not here yet. Live well today and we have better yesterdays !

  8. Oh, this post also reminds me of time travelling, just like back to the future franchises and terminators. hahaha.. .Well, the scientists said if you can travel faster than light, you may go back to the past. I still don't understand how it works as my pea brain is no Einstein. The theory is so deep and profound that after reading it for a while, I still don't get it.

Else, just like the movie, Interstellar, we can try to travel thru a wormhole and go back to the past or future. That seems scary ... you see your daughter suddenly older than you when you return back to Earth via a wormhole...hahaha..

Ok, that's something that I do think of sometimes when I read or watch space programs..hahahah...

  9. Well, I guess the best solution to turn back time is to list down the tasks/actions that you regretted and what you can do about it. Definitely, there's no way to turn back time but we can improve on it. There may be stuffs we can't do anything about it, thus just let it go! For stuffs we can do something about it, well, maybe it's good we plan some steps to counter it. For example, improve our health, finance, career, relationship and etc. Or we can applied the stuffs that we failed to do in the past now, like saying sorry to someone or forgiving somebody.

I feel that instead of feeling self-defeating thinking of regrets, it's better to live well in the present. Everybody makes mistakes and that makes us humans! We can only keep on improving our lives and move on!! hahaha...

    1. True, everyone makes mistake, therefore we should to forgive and forget. I make mistake too. It takes time a while for me to have the courage to apologize to certain people about certain things, be it at work or my personal life.

I will brave myself to say sorry if I have done wrong. Whether the person accept, it isn't matter, as long as I have apologized for what I regretted.

    2. i guess many would have regrets and some mistakes that they hope they have not done.. so if there is a chance that we can turn back time, it would not be a bad idea at all :)

    3. We often hear people say that it is easy to forget anything but not forget them. I used to believe that too on myself but now I am confident that I could really forgive and forget many people by not holding on to the cords but to let them go. There is even a mantra to chant that could cut off all the bad karmic cords in our lives. I am sure Thambee has heard those mantra lines in the CD you helped us to make many copies. The singer said something like "Ga Deh, Ga Deh, Bara Ga Deh............ Puti Soha".... that is a powerful line indeed that could cut off all the bad connections with our lives! Say it.

  10. Well, generally speaking, I don't want to turn back the clock because my life is better now. But then again, there are some things which I wish I could have done differently and people whom I want to make amends with. But since there is no way we can turn back the clock, I say move forward and learn from past mistakes!

  17. I suppose we all have to live with the past but of course bemoan (a little) that we could have done better. But then again with each incident, comes some learning, don't you think? A person who does nothing, learns nothing.

Also, I believe certain things cannot be avoided as I believe every major event happens for a reason in our life. It's something we have to go through - call it karma, if you will. Cause and effect exists... do unto others, that sort of thing, as well as reaping what you sow, etc..

    Good morning!

    1. 经一事,长一智。 We ought to learn from the mistake and excel to be a better person. Therefore, we ought to learn to forgive and forget to others too. Nothing is ideal and no one is perfect.

If I could turn back the clock, I would do even better than now of course, I would handle the situation and resolve the issue in better way.

Anyway, I want myself to live in the moment. The most important thing for me is to spend more time with my two daughters. Many people told me to do so as this is the only thing they regret when their children have grown up and left the nest.

      Delete
    2. agree, everything we have gone through actually taught us something.. without the past, then there doesn't exist the now us.. even if we are able to go back and make a change, then it will change what we are currently now too.. there is a risk whether we will like the new us..

  18. Whatever been done, let bygones be bygones, no point to keep thinking of it. Let it go, set it free. Life is still go on. Live in the moment, be grateful to what we have, appreciate our loved ones.
As for Yannie, Yannie is not a perfect human being. I have done quite a lot of mistakes in the past too that make me regret until now too. If the person is still around, and it is worthwhile, I will walk to that person and apologize to him/her. After apology is accepted, I will promise not to do again.

For those are still singles, I would advise them to love their old parents and spend more time with them.

For those who have young children, please spend more time with the children and your spouse.

    1. If we try to hold a grudge for too long, it is actually making ourselves not so happy. It is good to learn to let go, and look forwards.

Life is too short to be stressed over people who is not deserved to be an issue in our life. Besides, I believe that "懂你的人, 是不需要你解释, 不懂你的人, 解释也和是没有用。 "
So, just be yourself and move on.

In fact, the above statements are always in my mind. I just write here to share. When I have regret and things that I couldn't undo.

    2. I feel regret over things that i have done or I have never done.
I feel regret over words that I have said or I have never said.

So, when I could turn back the clock, everything might not be the same, but this is impossible.

Thus, we just have to move forward. We must learn to let go of the negative feeling. We must learn to have more positive thinking. So I always take those experiences as a challenge that God wanted to give me a test.

I always pray for more wisdom and kind thoughts to help me overcome those problem in my life.

      Delete
    3. Now I have less regret than before, because I will think through what I need to do.

My direction now is I should do things to please myself and not others. I must follow my heart instead of listening to others. I must have confident in my own decision and my own judgement. I need no consent of others for my own life. All these will lead to no regret in future. Just my two cents.

      Delete
    4. yes, in short, whether we are able to turn back time, we should always put the now us as the first priority.. love whom we are now, love what life brings to us now.. we should not cling to the regrets from the past, move on.. :)

    5. I am back here reading Yannie's philosophy 2 times and this lady is so wise, having learnt a lot about the reality of our human lives. We should see our mistakes always and learn not to repeat them. No need to regret them, just be happy that we made mistakes in order to learn something.

  21. If can turn back time, I will check the 4d results first before going back to buy the number on a particular date for the big win! No need to undo whatever lah because you never know things may not turn out the way you expect it. If you undo things you regret now, what is the guarantee that the results won't be even worse to lead you to bigger regrets so you need to go back in time to undo again and try a different path, how many times do you want to go back? In life, there is bound to be ups and downs, nothing is perfect so just by going back in time will not guarantee you a perfect life.

  25. In Buddhism ways, we are advised to always live in the present and not have any regrets of the past. We should learn from our pasts, be it good or bad ones and move on, to live meaningfully each day. If we need to turn back the clock to fix a particular problem, we should just use that experience to live on and not to let it ever happen again. If we need to turn back the clocks to enjoy the blissful moments again, we should just also move on and enjoy other blissful moments in different stages. Happiness is all around us which we often failed to see.

    1. I used to have many small regrets in the past as I was quite naive and silly during my younger days. I learnt well from my pasts that humans are scary sometimes! They could mean more harm than any animals on the streets. Animals could not verbally attack or launch character assassinations on anyone like how humans are capable these days over the internet and media tabloids. I learnt and paid a dearly price to see how the closest friends or family members could be the biggest liars too. Being kind and selfless is something many people are unable to do it with the narrow minds of theirs. To forgive and forget in order to move on, would be the biggest tasks. So better not turn back the clocks but toi move on with my life and let the fate decide who I should associate with.

  26. Interesting topic!

You know I always dream/fantasize that I can always turn back time... Yes I know bygones are bygones, that's the fact, but no harm fantasizing about what we'll do if we can turn back time...

For example, the other day, I met an accident =( Actually I bumped into the front car while on the way to somewhere, my front bumper was damaged T_T
So after that incident, I thought to myself, if I used another route, it won't happened. Or if I was late for another 2 minutes, things would have be different.
Haiz~ Anyway, since we can never turn back time, we have to always find another way to think positive. Like in my case, since it happened already, nothing can be changed, but at the same time, I am thankful that nobody was hurt during that accident. Take it as 破财挡灾 lo....
