[Volume 9 Issue 7, #1916]
A Special Breakfast on My Birthday
still about your sincerely's recent birthday.. when it comes to presents, i am actually fine with not getting any.. but all these years, what i must do on my birthday is to pamper myself with a day off!! as people say, a good day starts with a good morning, hence breakfast on my birthday must also be a good one.. maybe nothing special to many, but this year i had a special one, my very first time having breakfast in such a settings, my very first time having breakfast so "homely".. how homely you wonder?? take a look at the photos below (of course not this bowl of cheerios lah, you have to click in to see the real ones), but don't laugh at me if you find it just meh~~ :p

    1. Wah, you took the day off ahh on your birthday? I don't usually take day off for my birthday, but I know people who do so.. My ex boss also takes a day off on her birthday, and my neighbour also.. Jealous also la...

      Delete
    2. Their spouse also takes day off, teman them whole day.. Morning go makan breakfast, then go do some banking together.. Then go shopping, movie.. Then lunch.. Then evening time go take the kids from nursery and then the whole family go out makan steamboat again, and cut cake.. Wah, best...

      Delete
    3. Your breakfast place looks very cozy and homely.. And that lemonade.. Looks like free flow.. So is it free flow ahh?

      Delete
    4. Eh, I don't really understand.. I think I have to re-read one more time afterwards..

ALL that for just breakfast? Looks like fine dining, but breakfast style.. "Hou tap pit wor"..

    5. Ok, give me 5 more minutes, I wana read your post one more time - clearly..

    6. You stalk them ah?

    7. Ok, done reading..

So, the bread and lemonade are free-flow.. You can help yourself to how much you want, wah, nice !!!

So the real thing starts with crackers and cheese and fried fruits and nuts, wah, "ngam sai lei" lor..

Next, the oats and yogurt.. I think this one you sure like it, coz memang all the while previously, you used to have this right..

Wow, that beef bacon sandwich looks so mouth watering !! Eh, so did you order that chicken sausage or that one is for your gf *ahem*

    9. Princess Ribbon, I pun macam tak faham at first. I wonder if expensive. Sure, kan? Nice setting and so many courses before the main course. Must experience this one day.

    10. Call me jakun, what is feeling "meh"? What is "meh"? I've seen people posting in FB and say xxx is feeling meh.. So what is "meh"?

      Delete
    11. Huh ? Me blur already ...what meh ?? Meh here and there ??

      Delete
    12. Princess - you got 'meh meh' yesterday night ?

      Delete
    13. "meh" means nothing special lah, if i am not wrong.. so this type of breakfast maybe just "meh" for some people lor.. actually maybe just slightly more than those usual big breakfast lah, and that they serve them separately one by one little by little, feels more like fine dining.. but then it's inside a house lah (converted to be a restaurant) and there's a semi-buffet of juice and bread.. a little different and special for me lor.. :)

expensive or not?? to me the Thrifty Auntie, of course i compared the price before going.. it's about the same price as those big breakfast you go for in those cafe/eateries lor, so with the same price, i'd rather have this one with a more high class fine dining feel, than to let them throw you just one big plate that has everything stuffed in it~~ :)

      Delete
    14. Good Afternoon Bloggers!! What a big birthday treat! No meh? No Meh? Meh? Meh! Meh!......sounds like goat whining for grass... Wakakaka

I also noticed the original meanings of 'meh' being overly used until the meaning is wider. Here I googled and found the explanation -
      Meh
Meh is used to describe any and every word possible, including:
      Yes
      No
      maybe
      kind of
      never
      always
      ok
      alright
      no thankyou
      yes please
look bitch i really dont care so just shut the fuck up
      if you want
      whatever
      If you wnat
      i dont want to really
      well
      shut up
      i dont really care
      no honestly, i dont care...

...and is never explained on which is actually used...

      Delete
    15. wow, probably that "look b*tch i really dont care so just shut the f*uck up" explanation best suits my meaning and the context of the post!! muahahaha~~

    16. LOL ...anay and thamby so funny!

    17. we are the funny brothers from Chennai's slum mah~~ :D

    18. I understand meh to be nothing to shout about, nothing special. No wonder princess is confused, I am confused too. Where is this mysterious place? Then I saw the name in the 2nd photo. Ah, so this place is in Bangsar.

      Delete
    19. Princess Ribbon, haha good question!! I was thinking the same thing, homey cooking, must be someone very close to SK :p

As for the take leave to celebrate birthday thingy, as far as I can remember, I haven't done that before. Cause usually also nothing special to do one, no special place to go also, my mister is not a romantic person at all, plus he's super busy one, so I no need to take leave on my birthday to celebrate. I went to work instead, cause my colleagues were the one who celebrated for me, haha!

TM, haha nice explanation! I like it! But what I know about 'meh' is like what SK said, something normal, nothing special.

      Delete
    20. Is there a Love button I can click for TM's reply?

      Delete
    21. Chris, I think you had too much workout or too much bento or too much nice food, you are a bit "wan wan tan tan" liao.. You stone liao izzit? hehehehe... I where got meh meh wor.. I ask SK what is meh.. Have you seen in FB, people posting, xxx feeling meh.. (xxx is your fren's name)..

      Delete
    22. My favourite answer from TM's list?
This one: look bitch i really dont care so just shut the fuck up

      Delete
    23. OMG, I'm laughing non stop now..

      Delete
    24. I wonder who is more vulgar in real person - TM or SK.. In cantonese I mean..

      Delete
    25. Who is more vulgar? I thought I am holy! No?

      Delete
    26. if no one to celebrate your birthday, still can celebrate for yourself, pamper yourself with something you like.. we must always love ourselves!! right?? :p

      Delete
    27. Arghh....I miss those interesting topic here leh.... TM was here, Louiz was here and so does Hayley and Chris....Hope it is still not too late to add my comments here..

I heard homecook lor... and sound so romantic too.
Then, I laughed a while when I saw Lina said "You stalk them ah?" Muahaha... so funny.
Later, TM explained in his HOLY words...and "look b*tch and f*uck up words also come out, ruin the whole post here... HOLY SHIT!!!
Such a romantic breakfast morning become liddat.... aiyoyo... miss the fun here yesterday.

      Delete
    28. "Meh" for me means something nothing is special, something common lor... liddat only lor... I'm a person can treat the "Meh" to become something special lor... see who is the person we dine with lor... betul tak? hehehe...

    11. yam is hard become soft, hehe!! JAM so nice right?? "gam ngam" their initials can form this only~~ and Yannie must start to teach all these to April and May is she wants to become grandma earlier, so that she can play with babies~~ :D

    1. weekend is not cheap lor, but during weekdays it's okay woh, about the same price as those eateries that you often go for breakfast only - that's why i opted for it on my birthday :p

    2. This concept is new to me which is open to public. The history of Delicious chain of cafes started with 2 ladies cooking at home for friends by invitations but the diners had to pay RM50 to eat anything served without menu!

      Delete
    3. yeah, it's something nice and the place is cosy, the host are also very friendly.. spending money at eateries that throw you one big plate of everything, i would rather pay the same to enjoy this more classy one with a homely feel.. :)

  23. Very splendid way to start your birthday in a homely environment with a superb breakfast. You are indeed brilliant! How did you think of doing this to celebrate your special day? Most people would have just bought a cake or something. RM30 for so much food is really very attractive price.

    1. Hubby never celebrate my birthday is a special way anymore after getting married.. Lastime during the courting days, wah, got dinner in nice restaurants, then get gold necklace or anklet somemore.. Now, it's just dinner or eating out somewhere, make it fast and simple, with the kids around..

      Delete
    2. Hello Princess Ribbon, With children, sure must save money for children, so maybe that's why no big lavish dinner and jewellery. Good enough to have simple dinner to celebrate also.

      Delete
    3. yeah, i think RM30 plus is not expensive, it's the same price we pay for the same breakfast at most eateries.. of course this is something different and looks more "fine dining" style huh?? hehe.. and, nobody celebrate your birthday for you?? never mind lah, you can celebrate it for yourself, pamper yourself with something you like, love yourself!! :D

    4. I would say that many men are sadly lousy planners to celebrate birthdays for their wives after getting married. Most of my friends are like that and their wives never stop comparing notes when they saw my FB photos. I would even plan overseas trips for my wife's birthday to show my appreciation. Even a simple and meaningful makan would be good enough! It's the heart and thought that counts.

But I like this kind of idea having homey breakfast...it is far from your house? Nowadays, there are many creative cafe concept outthere - looks cosy and comfortable. It is simple but look stylish for me. I wish to go there for breakfast too rather than roti canai with hot teh tarik beside the roadside, cars and motors pass by...not so romantic and special right... hahaha

    2. I used to go on leave on my birthday too. I think Yannie should know... but that was years back. But now no more, I cannot go on leave whenever I want now, even just a day off. I need to plan and hopefully didn't clash with my staffs here. I practice to plan our leaves so we don't disturb anyone work in the midst of something. But somehow, I'll see when my birthday falls on which day. Monday and Friday is the best.... hahaha straight away continue to go for a short holiday pun boleh. Luckily my birthday is on the 15th...so no worries with my month end closing and early month reporting.
