UNESCO World Heritage Site: Casa Batlló @ Barcelona, Spain |
April 13, 2009, Monday
Casa Batllo @ Barcenola, Spain
After so long from my trip in Europe, but never show the places that I have went in details!!! Since looking some old photos, so I decided to write more details about this place I have went in Barcelona!!!
*******************************************************

I have want to visit this Casa Batlló of Antoni Gaudí's masterpiece and UNESCO Heritage very much but friend not interested!!! So, on last day in Barcelona, friend and I have agree to go around separate but meet up at night later for dinner!!!
*******************************************************

Casa Batllo @ Barcenola, SpainCasa Batllo @ Barcenola, Spain
Have to pay entrance fee for €21 per person!!! This is quite expensive but I have saw many people going in, but because early I don't have to queue up very long!!! Once go in, can see the stained glass window and the special arc architecture!!! I think very nice and keep taking photos at the entrance!!!
*********************************************************

After entrance is going up to first floor, can walk up either by the stair case or by an antique elevator, but because many people waiting the elevator so I walk up the stair case!!! Along the stair case, can see all the mosaic on the wall are all in the theme of blue color, give a big contrast with the gray color exterior of the building!!!
*******************************************************

This is the first floor with many of these kinds of arches designs, and the floor is with mosaic with flower pattern!!! The whole place is white in main color and the lighting make the whole place feels so special!!! It said Gaudi never use straight lines in his design, can see from this to prove it!!!
*********************************************************

Casa Batllo @ Barcenola, SpainCasa Batllo @ Barcenola, Spain
Here is the way to go up to the roof from the first floor with a spiral stair case!!! I love the design and have stand here for so long for all the people go up to the roof, so that I take this photo without any background people!!!
*******************************************************

Check out this, the roof of Casa Batlló, is one of the most popular features of the entire house due to its famous dragon back design. Gaudí represents an animal’s spine by using tiles of different colors on one side. The roof is decorated with four chimney stacks, that are designed to prevent backdraughts. The roof's arched profile recalls the spine of a dragon with ceramic tiles for scales and were given a metallic sheen to simulate the varying scales of the monster, with the color grading from green on the right side, where the head begins, to deep blue and violet in the center, to red and pink on the left side of the building.
*******************************************************

Casa Batllo @ Barcenola, Spain
Can see Barcelona view from the roof top!!!
*******************************************************

Casa Batllo @ Barcenola, SpainCasa Batllo @ Barcenola, SpainCasa Batllo @ Barcenola, Spain
Come down from the roof go back into the first floor again, can see this section which called as "The Fire Space"!!! It is lighting illusion section show the life of occupants of the house back in last time like hanging to dry the clothes!!! Of course, they also show the picture of Antoni Gaudí too!!!
*******************************************************

Still no chance to try the antique elevator when I have to went down and leave!!! But can take photo from another angle of the stair case and decorations on the wall is also not bad!!!
*******************************************************

this post is a tribute dedicated to 小影 @ As An Unrest Life (the post title 煩憂生活 is Unrest Life translated into Chinese).. just my personal opinion that this young lady blogger actually started a little down and emo, but i think she actually turned to be more happy and confident later, after mingling with some of the crazy bloggers here, haha!! but i am sure no matter what, she's a very nice young lady, just look how much heart she has put in to share and to give.. dear Sheta, thank you for your support and comments, and what do you think of this mimic of your style?? hehehe.. :p
這一篇博文係特別獻給小影 @ As An Unrest Life以示致敬的.. :p

    3. But really, sekali pandang, already know it’s Xiao Ying’s post.. I also got to know her blog from SK’s blog rolls.. Aiya, most of the bloggers here that I know and visit also are all from SK’s blog rolls.. Initially, shy to leave comments in her blog, but if I not mistaken, I think she left comments in my blog first.. Quite early somemore leh.. Earlier than STP sometimes, haha.. So from then, we “know” each other liao lor..

    4. Hmm, to me leh, she’s not emo la, but cute la.. I like to read her emo posts though.. Especially when I go thru her blog, there are labels right.. I like to read her “Feelings – Angry” posts, haha.. The ones she complained about her sister becoz of her niece and all, and it’s all becoz of a comb! Haha..

From her posts, I can feel she’s a friendly and loving person.. Very “hau soon” to family, loves her niece and nephews to bits.. Kind and adventurous too.. Sometimes crazy, like waiting under the hot sun, or under the rain.. Extreme girl, don’t play play!

      Delete
    5. All her posts are very “real”, no “fake fake” (kaka), and she dares to voice out.. Well, it’s her blog, her post, her like, her sukak!

I like the previous post, about balloons and standing under the sun and under the rain, being single and all.. I like what she wrote.. Straight from her heart.. Actually, it’s all these “true” stuffs you all write, which make people come back for more..

If you are too “commercial” and talks about restaurants, events, gadgets and food only, then macam a bit boring.. If that blog everything ada, then baru syiok.. A little bit of emo posts (radio-deejay), a little bit of food, little bit of this that, baru best.. Oohh, I like office stories too.. Rants…
Come on, we all have rants..

      Delete
    6. I agree 100%! I like to read other peoples rants and stories. Baru syiok like eating fried rice with a lot of liew!

      Delete
    7. I went over and did a quick scan of her posts and the emo posts. I like the sharing of emo as I can relate to it most of the time. I will come back later.

    4. To be exact, plagiarize means to copy and paste but never quote the source.. just copy and paste but quoted the source is not, just like me mimicking the style, if anyone eagerly wants to label me as "copying", that's up to their view but personally i am up to my own conscience.. :)

    1. SK wants to quickly finish all his tribute posts, that's why everyday also have post.

    2. Bet it's not easy for perfectionist SK to do them all!

He has to study all the blogs and mimic our individual style.

and he's posting it daily so that we can always see whose next excitedly. *not bodek mode*

      Thumbs up SK.

Can't wait for the next post. :)

      Delete
    3. Yep, me too din't expect another post today! Like I said, SK must have quite a lot more tributes to pay that's why he needs to speed things up!

Hmm yea, 小影 post is like that, so need some times to load the photos ;)

      Delete
    4. Serious ya? I've already cut down the size duh...don't understand~~~

    6. 小影, erm may be that's the line problem also la.... My internet speed sucks!

      Delete
    7. haha, same like your blog lah STP, all the LARGE photos take ages to load also.. every morning i'll open your page, then get dressed and then come back to comment before i leave home :D

hahaha.. the month is ending soon, so gotta finish up all my tribute posts ASAP.. aiyah, bocor by Yannie why i blog daily this week :D

      Delete
    8. Can put photos LARGE size but nicer for readers if the photos size get resized a bit.

Mine always got resized from 4MB down to less than 100KB. I think it helps also. No?

      Delete
    9. it's okay to resize because blogger by default will link your photo displayed on your posts to the original size stored in their server.. if you want to see larger photos, can click on the photo lor.. but then, i've disabled that in my posts, haha!!

  14. reading the first sentence that mention "but never show the places that I have went in details!!!" I immediately know who you're paying tribute too! LOL

      Delete
    3. Haha yea, and also the map at the end, she always put that in her posts.

      Delete
    4. haha, that map actually makes everything looks more professional and detailed right??

  15. Trivia : do you know the word gawdy or gaudy comes from Gaudi's name.

In case some didn't know, gaudy means ostentatiously or tastelessly ornamented (I copy pasted this from meriam-webster) ^^

    2. oh, i didn't know that!! thanks Mak Glam the walking Dictionary to share this.. haha, but then i don't think Gaudi is tasteless but i indeed love his design!! hmmm~~ :p

      Delete
    3. Well, maybe at that time his neighbours didn't like his designs. It is after all, different, right? ;)

And you know how sometimes societies don't like non-homgenous acts. :P

      Delete
    4. ah, if you have read the history of this Casa Batllo, it's the owner who hired Gaudi to design something different and unusual for him, and he gave Gaudi all the freedom to do so.. the owner was so forward thinking huh?? :)

  16. Hello SK!
Wah never expect a post today! Thought your style is one post every 2 days, is it because too many readers you wanna mimic, tak sempat already so must hurry up? Hehe...
So fast, this is already the 10th post!!

I guess this post took you some times to draft and finish, cause it's lengthy! See there're so many photos, I think you need time to go and find out those photos (since it's from 2009), then need to recall the memories and blog... Most importantly, you need to blog in dual languages!!! Look at the Chinese part, it's the proper Chinese, not like those Cantonese-Chinese you always blog... I guess its quite a challenge for you lo!

But you made it la, with all the fonts and style, and the tone which is like 小影。。。 And also the way she blogs, always very details and long one.. Erm I am not saying she is 长气 but her posts are always very long and detailed one... That's her signature!

This is another successful mimic I'd say! She sure is very happy and proud about it! =)

    3. Actually...my blog name was come from a ghost movie one...guess it was 5 or 6 years back, when I start blogging...I want an English but can't think of one, then I remember that's a ghost movie I like it very much name "Unrest"...so I just use it lo...I know this's very ridiculous right?? I understood!! =]

      Delete
    4. errr, whether Unrest means 煩躁 or 煩憂 or not then must get 小影 to explain herself lah.. i just do a direct translation here, hehe!!

errr, indeed took some time to write up this post.. from selecting the photos, to writing what i can remember, and also find some facts about the place.. and then writing in two languages!! fuyoh, not easy at all but i enjoy doing that :)

      Delete
    5. wenn, yea, I saw the photo, you both look sweet la!

小影,oh I see! It's from a movie title.... Never mind la, as long as you like, no one can say anything about that...

SK, haha yala, I saja ask only :p
Can tell you are enjoying la, else you also won't come out with so many tribute posts la!

      Delete
    6. yalah, i enjoyed doing that lah, something different mah.. at least i got a direction and no need to scratch head to think for topics to write, hehe~~

    1. I'm so so so happy that you're using Gaudi's architecture to mimic my post duh, because he is my idol since his La Sagrada design and because of him I fall in love into architecture!!! Still remember during secondary school, I save all my pocket money just to buy architecture books, I won't miss out a book which has explanation on La Sagrada...remember during secondary school lots of school will put artist poster as their file cover? but mine one was the La Sagrada building duh...hahahaha~~~ Also this is part of the reason why Spain become my dream place to visit, just because I want to see his arc by myself...

    2. The most unforgettable is his quote "直線屬於人類,曲線屬於上帝" how pretty of this quote, non of his designs can replace by anyone!!!...argh...(must go back find out all my treasure book to read again) never feel bored by looking at his arc...just so incredible amazing and non of words can describe it!!! =]

oh yeah, it's Gaudi almost everywhere in Barcelona.. have been to a few places that he designed, they are indeed so awesome and remarkable!! but i only have time to go into this Casa Batllo and Parc Guell only.. if i have got a chance to go there again, i want to go into Sagrada Familia and also Casa Mila.. what else?? :)

    5. He has lots of designs beside these, but those you mentioned are those very famous one!!! Hehe, now I'm thinking I should plan a trip just got there to visit Gaudi arc only, hahaha!!! =]

  25. So you have been to Spain too! How you find about that country?
I've been to Barcelona in 2008 and honestly, I love the place but not so much on the food, haha! Just not used to their style... And that trip I went, we din't spend much time on shopping, din't really buy a lot. Plus I see most of their things are quite expensive leh, After convert to RM, just more or less the same only... And that time Euro is still quite expensive, if not mistaken it was 1EUR = 5 MYR.

This one Casa Batllo, wasn't in my list last time, this is also an UNESCO heritage? Wow, just like the one I visited at Bergen Norway, so I bet it's worth a trip! But the entrance fee is really quite expensive! After convert it's like nearly RM 90!! But you were being a tourist back then, so never mind la,

    1. I actually love the architecture! I think Western/European architectures are amazing! I am not a person who love visiting church/museums but then if I am oversea, I sure won't mind a trip, cause their designs are simply unique!
I think you made a right choice by using the stair case, I'll choose to use the stair case as well if I were you, can take the time to slowly enjoy every single details!

I love the first floor design, the lightning makes everything so romantic! Gaudi never use straight lines in his designs? Wow, now I learn something! I love those designs, can curi the ideas if I am designing my own house in the future, hehehe! Even the roof design is unique as well!
The fire space looks cool leh! And can tell it was kinda hot back then? The sun is glaring!

I personally think 小影 is quite an easy going person, erm now that you mentioned she was a little down and emo before this, yea, macam got... But that was long time ago la! These days she always share about her travel experiences, and she is also a very 细心 and generous person, she sends gifts to her readers, some are even handmade one!

    2. yeah, i just went to Barcelona.. and you went there in packaged group tour?? ah, maybe that's why you didn't have much time to explore the place.. errr, we spent 3D2N in Barcelona, and the food was nice woh.. i still remember the pintxos (they skew everything and they eat that as snacks, but for us, can be proper meal).. you can refer to my old post here, i so 念念不忘!! if got chance to go there again, i must eat this again..

yeah, lucky i paid to go into this Casa Batllo, it's really very beautiful inside.. i love those very creative and "eccentric design for the standard then".. if i am going to Barcelona again, i must go to Sagrada Familia, it took the modern engineers years to figure out how to build from Gaudi's design, and years upon years to build this cathedral.. it's amazing!!
