My Version of Spaghetti Carbonara
Don't expect anything like restaurant's Spaghetti Carbonara. And don't compare either. It's my style of simple and quick soup-concentrate Carborana ready in 10 minutes! My way, my like, my sukak!

It was Sunday. The time was 9pm. FF was jumping up & down and up & down on the sofa. Suddenly he said he was hungry and wanted Spaghetti Carbonara. What? Carbonara? This hour? And what have I got in the fridge? Nothing.

I don't have cream. Call me jakun, I don't even use cream in my usual cookings. Starch-up some milk? Not good. How about Spaghetti Bolognese? Nope, too late to thaw minced meat, too lazy to chop garlic and onions and what-nots (and puh-leese, this was just for FF alone, you want me to do all that?).

Looked around and I found a can of Campbell's concentrated mushrooms soup. That should work the trick well and I took the simplest way out. I boiled some spaghetti and once soft, I drained the water, added two spoonfuls of the soup concentrate, a bit of milk and mixed well. And to fake it more like Carbonara, I added another slice of cheese (pasta can't go wrong with cheese).
Spaghetti Carbonara
Nope, I did not put in extra mushrooms since I have nothing in the fridge and I was lazy to do extras. Remember my style in the kitchen? Those you see in the photo comes from the soup itself. And those parsley? Yes, it was there. Don't ask.

I was praying that FF would just shut up and eat up. Surprisingly, he did both and gave thumbs up too! He said "Hmmm, nice!". Was it nice? You bet. Not self praising, but if this brat says nice, means that something is nice.
this post is a tribute dedicated to Princess Ribbon @ Breathe a little...Slow down... (the post title 呼吸放緩 is Breathe and Slow Down translated into Chinese).. so what do we associate this blogger with?? polka dots, ribbons, one pot cooks all and also poo pee fart?? muahaha!! she is surely a crazy blogger, but many may not know her since she has just opened her blog to the public and joined in commenting lately.. dear Louiz, thank you for your support and crazy spams, hope you like this mimic of your style though it's rather tough for me as everything you blog is parenting and cooking (which are my weakest points), so i just "referred to" this post, hehehe.. :p

    7. Hahaha, you're so cute la!! Wait, you use your phone blogging?

    8. How to say leh.. I sometimes create a post using my phone, coz all my pictures are in my phone ma.. I can straight away paste the picture inside.. Then only I switch to pc mode to compose the post.. Then once done, I'll hit the publish button on my pc lor..

But this morning, office server down.. No internet.. So since yesterday I already kautim my post, I thought of just hitting the publish button thru my phone.. Mana tau, the publish time is follow the time which the post was created yesterday wor.. So weird one hor..

    10. Good Afternoon Bloggers! This Thambee is so scary and pandai mimic other blogger's writing styles now! I worry he might call up bloggers and mimic someone else's voices too! So scary la!

      Delete
    11. Sure this Princess Ribbon's no nonsense & jakun blog talk is really like her 100%. I give 10/10 marks! SK started to learn to open everything inside the kitchen and throw inside the wok now. Pandai la Fing Fing's daddy!

    12. TM, when you say like that, I terus imagine he simpley call up people and introduces himself as the "radio deejay" and he's there to "king sum si" with us.. OMG, am laughing now, hahahaha.. I wonder how he sounds like if he mimics my voice.. Afterall, he heard my voice before - thru whatsapp voice message, hehe..

Your baking is not ugly la! Hehe...
Hmm, your blog everything ada, that's normal la! It's like our personal diary, we can write anything, as long as it's not sensitive...... Right?

      Delete
    15. Yep Hayley.. Nothing too sensitive.. But some are quite secretive.. hehe.. But its ok coz no friends or relatives know my blog.. Only one colleague knows my blog but he's very neutral and he doesn't bother much..

Even hubby doesnt read my blog..

So yeah, I blog about everything.. Personal got.. Office got.. Crazy stuff got.. Hamsap also got..

      Wait, hamsap ??!!!!

OMG, I'm laughing non stop now, with my eyes all teary now.. Choked on my Mentos (am chewing on one right now), almost let out some fart too..

SK, you are a genius! You could mimic so accurately..

    1. And this one just look like what you had post today duh!!! =]

    2. Whoa, I’m speechless for about 30 seconds.. I re-read the post for 3 times.. It really sounds like me lor..For a start, “my blog, my like, my sukak!” And I always start my post with: It was a Sunday or public holiday….. Then I also see “whatever I have in the fridge”.. Then there’s my trademark word “puh-leeese”.. And OMG, I see “Don’t ask”..

      Delete
    3. You are really “sai sum”.. Wait, what do you call this word in English? My England not good.. Ok, I think I know the word - meticulous.. SK, you are really meticulous..

All the small small stuff, you can really “see” well.. Albeit your eyes are small (sorry, I always say this), BUT (there’s a BIG BUT ok), you can really “see” things well.. In fact, I think you “see” things clearer than those with big round eyes!

      Delete
    4. If I’m single, I would have fallen in love with you.. Ooops, what am I talking? Tak malu..

      Delete
    5. I’m glad F shut up, eat up and gave thumbs up.. Your spaghetti really looks good man.. And yes, when there’s nothing in the fridge, Campbell cream soup always does the trick.. Ok, maybe it’s just me.. I’m not promoting can food, but really, my pantry is always stocked up on Campbell cream soup (oxtail, tomato, chowder, mushroom, you name it), Heinz baked beans, luncheon meat.. These will come in useful when you don’t know what to cook or you have run out of things to cook..

      Delete
    6. Depending whether or not you are "cincai" or not lor.. If you "papa paipai" type, then maybe cannot lor.. Like us, we are very cincai in eating one.. If that day dunno what to cook, we just boil some spaghetti, then chuck in a can of Campbell cream of oxtail, add a slice of cheese melted on top, with a dollop of butter.. Kautim..

      Delete
    7. And if don't feel like having spaghetti that day, then just fry some eggs with luncheon meat.. Eat with wraps.. Chop some tomatoes, add cheese, mayonaise, can also kan.. Tomatoes, potatoes, carrots are always available in my fridge, coz I have to boil soup every week for the kids to use on weekends... So, definitely will have tomatoes, haha..

      Delete
    8. If all else fails, then open up a can of (Heinz) baked beans, add minced meat if you have, but since nothing in the fridge, then it will be just plain baked beans.. Fry some eggs and mix inside, cook rice and eat! Kautim.. Boleh jugak kan? If lazy to cook rice, ala, just tapau white rice from the chap-farn stall on your way back.. I think they will allow..

      Delete
    9. Talking about only buying rice from the chap-farn stall, it depends also.. I tried that once, and the fella looked at me and said "beli nasi putih aje"? Looked at me one kind, so I quickly said, no no... I wana buy other stuff too... So I just took a fried drumstick and put together with the rice lor..

      Delete
    10. Oh Princess Ribbon, muahahahaha! I thought I would be the only say "love you" here. SK is always awesome.

Oh yes, I have to say SK really tried his very best to mimic all bloggers here.. Not easy I know.. Gotta compile a few posts, read carefully, put mind into it and really dig out the keywords.. Then compose one post that can incorporate all the keywords inside..

      Really salute him la..

Boil pasta, chuck in a can of cream of mushroom, then you get a creamy pasta liao..

Or roast a simple chicken, chuck in a can of cream of chicken, then you get a creamy roasted chicken liao..

      2) FF is Fing Fing, his "baby".. He's actually a toy monkey la, but SK treats him like his baby boy, bring him everywhere, don't play play..

The wordings and vocabs all sound so princess-ribbon feel!
Fonts and background sure is the same la, no need to mention, but I am surprise to see how you address Fing Fing, instead of Fing Fing you use short forms, FF, hehe, Ribbon always refers to her sons using short forms, so you are very 细心 indeed SK! This one have to give credits. No doubt.
Your weakest point is parenting and cooking? Hmm, as for parenting, you are not weakest la, just that haven't applicable to you yet. But cooking, ok ma! You can cook wert~~

'poo pee fart'? Hahaha, well, at some points it's true :p I remember she always say she pees in her pants one xD
Crazy blogger? Hmm that depends on how you define crazy? I haven't meet her in person but from the way she blogs, I can tell she is kinda open minded and can talk about anything one, 百无禁忌 one.. Hehe...
I started follow her not long ago la actually, I remember I was the one who started leaving comments in her blog, and link her ;) I do enjoy reading her blog. Since she is more on parenting, which is in the 'same line' with me, so very click lo.

    2. Hahaha, thanks for the compliment! Me depends one la, sometimes seng mok, can be observant, but sometimes, I'll miss out things also..

Ok, thanks for sharing about yourself, yala from the way you comment can tell you are a person who can talk about anything, no need 'pei kei' one, hehe!
I am like that as well, I can talk about anything if you are not too 'bou sao'.. Everytime when I am meeting a new friend, I'll take a few seconds to see if he/she is open minded, you know some people a bit shy and 'bou sao' one, so I also must seng mok lo.... Takkan first meet up already say hamsap thing meh right? Later 'hak sei yan', haha xD
But me and my besties all apa pun cakap one, like you said, anything, sex or hamsap thing we lagi suka! LOL!

Hmm agree, actually being a blog friend also depends on fate, though we might not have meet in real before....

  15. Hmm, why FF jumping up and down ar?? Backside itchy ar? Naughty huh? Aunty come beat backside already!! *piak piak* :p
And suddenly said wanna have Carbonara? Wah like pregnant woman, got sudden craving for certain food.... xD

Actually your version of carbonara looks good.. If you din't mention it's concentrated mushroom soup, we won't know it is!
People say don't take too much canned food but I have to admit sometimes they are so yummy to eat! Easy, fast and simply yummy! I bought a can of tomato soup before this and just left there for weeks, then one fine day I was hungry, but din't feel like going out to tapao, nor eat Maggi Mee, then I saw this can of tomato soup, so end up I heat it up and whallop whole can of the soup, haha! Slurp, yumz~

Your house consider good already, got keep spaghetti, mine, sure fail to find any spaghetti, or canned mushroom soup, haha!
Cheese, may be yes, cause Aden got eat one ma.
Parsley? Not very likely to find, haha.

Guess FF enjoyed the meal so much, since he shut up and eat up the spaghetti! ;))
See, you can be a good chef also ma SK!
