A Short Trip to Cameron Highlands
A friend asked if I would like to join them to Cameron Highlands yesterday. It has been ages since I last went there. So, I said yes.

We had a quick breakfast and drove from KL to Cameron Highlands. Soon, we arrived at Cameron Highlands. It was nearly 1pm and we made our first stop at the tea valley.
Cameron Highlands
beautiful tea valley
Cameron Highlands, discovered by Sir William Cameron in 1885, is one of Malaysia’s most extensive hill stations. The size of Singapore, it occupies an area of 712 square kilometres (275 sq mi).

We did not spend much time there. We just visited a few farms.

Now, we can also grow grapes in Malaysia.
After visiting the farms, it was almost 5pm. We had to meet up with some other friends in Ipoh for dinner. On the way to Ipoh, we bought some fruits from roadside stalls.

We also saw many cabbages being planted openly by the road. No one steal them. The people in Cameron Highlands are very honest.

We had a scrumptious dinner in Ipoh and spent some time at a night market. After that, we drove back to KL. It was already 11pm when I reached home. What an eventful day!
this post is a tribute dedicated to wenn @ Experiences (the post title 我的經歷 is My Experiences translated into Chinese).. i believe Wenn is one of the busiest women on earth, she takes care of both her shop and family, administers the FB page of her shop, gets active in FB and blogging, yet she has time to leave me comments!! i have met this nice and well-kept lady only once, but got lots of goodies that she sent to me on and off, that's so paiseh, haha!! dear WENNderwoman, thank you so much for your continual support albeit your busy schedule, do you like with this mimic of your blogging style?? hehehe.. :p

    9. Welcome back Mamarazzi, yala you missed some posts lo, this month is all about tribute to readers, hehe!

Never thought it will be wenn today! Really unexpected! When I read the title 我的经历,I was still blur sotong wondering who's that (Also the consequences of taking medicines, blur blur and drowsy), until I read the first few lines, I recognize the fonts and the background color, then only I realize it's wenn.
Her blog is stress-less to read, as she posts freely, SHORT and straight to the point, with photos.

    10. Sorry, my friends..I have been lacking in posting. I used to post everyday but recently I was too occupied with other stuff.

Yes, I believe in simplicity so that I don't confuse people. Maybe that's part of the traits of a teacher.

      Delete
    11. I wonder what other stuff you were occupied with? Hehe.. Anyway, yea we miss your comments and daily posts, but no worries la, just go ahead with more important things and blogging can come next.

    3. Can't remember when was the last time I went, I think 5 years back...so long ago......

      Delete
    4. I been there about 3 years ago, before I had Kz.. It was during Raya holidays.. Went there on the first day of Raya with the in laws.. Super crowded and jam-packed..

      Delete
    5. During holiday everywhere also crowded, no escape...but I think should be fine if you go on usual weekend, shouldn't be that crowded! =]

    6. Cameron Highland is a great place to visit! I love the place! It's about 90 minutes of drive from Taiping, not too far, but I am a bit sick of the winding roads when approaching the highland. There was once I felt like I'm going to puke when on the way down the highland, as Aden couldn't sit still and kept on jumping in the car, I need to carry and hold him tight and that makes me dizzy!

Anyway, too bad that CH isn't cooling as before, of course still slightly colder than lands but if compare to many years ago, their temperature rises already.... I guess partly due to global warming?

But it's a great place to shop for fresh vegetables! And food! My MIL will bring 2-3 big recycle bags whenever she goes CH, and come back with all bags full! Vegetables there might not be very cheap but they are fresh! And some not easily seen at the markets here. Needless to say their fruits are big and fresh too! Even flowers are a lot of varieties!

But there's one thing I don't like about CH is the traffic, even normal weekend also jam, guess it's due to their narrow road, and only one lane per direction. If on holidays then no need to say la, sure even jam! Went there on Labor Day and I can sort of expect it'd be very jam, but din't expect we'd jam for hours! Cause there was road construction going on and only one lane is accessible for both directions.

    7. I love Cameron Highlands. I really don't mind driving to and fro as it's so near Ipoh. Furthermore, the route has been improved.

      Delete
    8. If I stay at Ipoh I also don't mind going CH often!! Cause it's super near!!

      Delete
    9. Yes, Hayley, it's so near and so easy to drive there too. I plan to go there again one day.

      Delete
    10. yeah, Cameron Highlands is actually a nice place and would be also nice to put up a night there.. love the cooling weather, though i think it's not as cooling as before due to global warming and also vast development there.. and albeit being very commercialized now, still not a bad place to go there to freshen up :)

  3. Nice post on Wenn! I saw the "scrumptious" part... she loves that.. hahahaa...

    3. Haha ... wenn ' s trademark words !

      Delete
    4. haha..I simply love the word 'scrumptious' since I started my blog, 'Scrumptious' years ago.

Ipoh and KL are always in my dictionary..haha..

      Delete
    5. Haha yea, wenn always mention she drives here and there one, I guess she loves and enjoy driving ;)
I sometimes love to drive, but depends on mood also la! And if the weather is bad (too hot or heavy rain) then I won't love to drive, and I don't like to drive at night too, cause I got astigmatism, driving at night a bit uncomfortable for me, but sometimes also no choice la! Have to drive also~

      Delete
    6. haha..I'm the one who is always driving. I still need to drive my kids here and there.

      Delete
    7. haha.. i also learn the word "scrumptious" from Wenn.. and yeah, i think Wenn has been driving here and there a lot huh?? :)

  4. All in one day's trip? Wow... terror then... I sure cannot drive this long... one way can.. two ways? I will be sleeping behind the wheel... Anyway, Camerons is a nice place to soothe eyes.. all greens if you look out to the mountains tea leaves..

    1. Eh, I tried before.. Followed my in laws to Cameron a few years ago.. Went there in the morning around 8-9 ish, drove back around 3-4pm.. Possible.. But giddy and tired la..

    2. Going down using simpang pulai road not so bad la Claire. But if go through Tapah way...aiyoh very pusing leh

      Delete
    3. I never like one day trips. I find it tiring. If want to go somewhere nice for getaway, must at least 3 days. Since I don't have the time, I end up not going anywhere.

      Delete
    4. Twin, same here.. One day trip is always tiring.. But with kids around, they are still so small, I don't even feel like going out.. Going out for a while to the mall is still ok.. But if day trip, susah a bit with two very small kids around.. If one kid, still ok..

      Delete
    5. I don't mind traveling to and fro but it's better if I could stay at least for a night. I remember the last time I stayed in Cameron Highland was an impromptu trip.

      Delete
    6. Day trip can be fun but tiring. Fun in terms of we no need to pack things and can back to our home sweet home by the end of the day, I know some people including myself not get used to sleeping in hotel/other places one. And also save time on surveying which hotel to book, and also no need to plan itinerary so detailed, hehe!
Tiring cause have to spend hours on the road, unless got friend can take turns to drive, then not that bad la. Hubby and I always go CH on day trip one, cause it's near to us, plus we think CH nothing much worth a stay there, all can done during daytime so we don't really plan to overnight there. I have never stay at CH before, all also day trip, hehe!
Of course it depends on company also la, if go with a gang, then nice also to overnight, book an apartment then can have steamboat/drinking session til wee hour! Erm of course without kids la, haha!

      Delete
    7. Very true, CH can be explored within a day. So it's actually not necessary to put up a night there.

      Delete
    8. yes, day trip and just a brief stay there, not me driving so okay lah, muahahaha!! but all the way from KL it would be nicer if we can stay a night there lah.. hotels may not be cheap but then afterall, not that we always go there also mah.. people from Ipoh may go there for day trips often since it's so near..

      Delete
  5. Morning morning.. When I read the headlines, I know it's either Wenn's or Claire's.. But I think more to Wenn.. And I was right! Haha..And yes, that word "scrumptious", can never miss this word in her post, teehee..

    1. I read this post three times! And yes, the more I read it, the more it sounds like Wenn.. Especially the last paragraph.. Some words I am familiar with: scrumptious, drove back to Ipoh, what an eventful day. Yep, really sounds like her..

      Delete
    2. So SK, same question here.. Since I dunno your canggih way to check on people's photographs dates and all, you purposely drove up to Cameron for the sake of this mimic post, or memang kam ngam you wana go there with your frens (or family), then "sun bin" you mimic mai Wenn's post? Hahaha..

    3. I've never been to the Boh Tea plantation, I know shame on me, coz if go to Cameron but didn't go to Boh Tea, macam no go Cameron right.. But that day was too crowded and jammed to go Boh Tea, so we didn't make it..

But I made it to the strawberry farm la.. Go Cameron must go pick strawberries right, teehee..

      Delete
    4. And along the hill on the way down, there's a place selling flowers and small plants and all.. I remembered MIL bought some insect plant.. I dunno what's it's called, but it is supposed to help you halau mosquitos, haha.. You put the plant there, and mosquitos don't dare to come liao lor.. Hahaha..

      Delete
    5. And I also remember a steamboat place.. Famous for just its green leafy vegetables.. No meat.. Ok, I think there's meat, but I remember they are popular with just green vegetables.. If you have been there, please correct me if I'm wrong.. I think you guys won't miss that steamboat place..

    6. More likely is wenn la. Coz claire punya not like that one., Claire no like to wikipedia punya.

I think this cameron post is last year trip la. last year SK posted about trip to ipoh and he buy pomelo. i remember we discuss about sweet or sour pomelo. Maybe it was that trip la

    10. Chris, agree with you.. Don't know which is the correct word to use, but the "seriousness" and "maturity" word, haha, I like.. Not only that, the "simplicity" yet the "easy-to-understand" thingy also there, I super like lor..

      Delete
    11. I would love to revisit Cameron Highland. I would say I focus on simplicity since it's easier to understand.

      Delete
    12. Boh tea plantation is nice! I mean the one at Sg Palas, if not mistaken. But to go there is really a 'journey'! The road to the plantation is so so narrow and winding! I think if one's driving skills isn't good, he/she sure cannot make it one, imagine the narrow road is accessible for both directions! And yet it is so narrow! Have to drive to the side and let each other pass through slowly... And the road is so long! I went there once only, that time hubby was the one driving, if for me I'll sure patah balik, haha!
Anyway, when we able to reach that plantation, all the hardworks and sweats are worth it la, cause the place is really so beautiful! And the cafe, is nicely located on the hill! With lots of snacks to choose from, and their nice fragrance tea!

Steamboat restaurant, CH got A LOT! Mostly are charcoal type one, and if not mistaken, price is quite reasonable, food also good, since their vegetables are fresh, ;)

Strawberry farm, must go lo! Self pluck strawberry is something tourist must do, especially if you're a strawberry fan!
And now got the Lavender Garden, also a must go, all lavender looks super pretty there! But hard to take photos la cause always crowded one.... Your photo end up includes other people as background one, haha!

      Delete
    13. I need to visit the tea boh plantation which I always missed. This time I must make sure I visit it!

      Delete
    14. hahaha!! seriousness and maturity?? i wonder what Wenn thinks if she saw this being associated with her blog, haha.. anyway, i think she's just making things simple, short and sweet..

oh yeah, CH would be a nice place to relax but i think if you are going there during public holidays, it would be quite crowded.. already very commercialized, plus packed with tourists, may not be nice at all.. so, would be nice to go there on normal non-peak days, for a night stay, and probably the hotel will be cheaper too :)

Wenn too, can drive from Ipoh to KL and KL back to Ipoh in one day.

SK is luckier, friend drove him. Wenn needed to drive on her own most of the time. She is really a WENNderwoman. I 100% agree.

    1. I love having steamboat at Cameron Highland. We should go and chill at Cameron Highland, especially now the weather is super duper hot.

I love cherry tomatoes and strawberry in Cameron Highland too. At one time, I joked with my husband that we should move to Cameron Highland for its fresh air and nice weather. But,....Yannie cannot sweat as much as in Taiping already.

      Delete
    2. Yannie, I wanted to share with few friends to buy a small apartment there and take turns to live there for weeks. Maybe it would only cost RM100 installment per month for each person which is worthwhile. I love the cool air and vegetables too! I feel so fresh now even by talking this. Hmmm....

      Delete
    3. I also love their cheery tomatoes and strawberries! Big and cheaper, compared to those sell at Tesco and other hypermarkets here.
If any of my friends are going CH I'll sure ask them to buy me these 2 things! And also their corns!

TM, CH is developing, during my recent trip there, I saw a lot of ongoing apartment and houses constructions. But not sure if all are for booking or can buy and invest...
Take turns to live there for weeks? Sounds good but won't feel boring ar if live for weeks? Nothing much to do there wo, or you intend to plant something there yourself? Hehehe....

      Delete
    4. It's great if we are able to spend a few days in Cameron Highlands. But not too long as it might get boring.

      Delete
    5. In fact, I don't mind enjoying my retirement days in Cameron Highlands, I saw women there having fair skin and rosy cheeks, even they needs to work under the sun for hours. Hahahah!

How nice if I can stay there when I retire, Jin Jin can work in the plantation, then I can eat when he harvests the fruits and vegetables. I can imagine this must be a very beautiful picture during our old ages.

How I wish my dream can come true. At that time, I will have a home party and I invite all SK's readers to enjoy steamboat, salad and juices. Ain't this an ideal plan? Oh my! I have digress too far away. No no, I am still talking about Cameron Highland.

      Delete
    6. Yea, that's a great dream and it might come true too. Then we can all meet up at Cameron Highland.

    7. yeah, we can get very fresh fruits and veggie from Cameron Highlands.. but i have not tried steamboat up there if i'm not mistaken..

oh, it would be nice to own your property there and then you can invite friends and relatives to go up there for a freshen up trip.. nice, especially for us to hide from the bustling city~~ great idea!! and monthly installment of RM100 isn't a lot also..

  17. Oh yes! Wenn is a generous blogger too and I used to enjoy 3-in-1 beverages and tea supply from her! I really drank them all and felt happy! She probably sent with love and happiness, that's why they tasted better & nicer! Some more got Chang Jiang identical name on the sachets. I think she is humble not to tell me it's her own factory made!

    1. Chang Jiang White Coffee is made by Wenn's own factory. I got the sachet from her too. I wanted ask her and now Anay TM said that, I suddenly recalled my question to Wenn.

  18. I love to visit Cameron Highlands too except the traffic jams that connect the Brinchang route often tore my brains out! Adoi where's the govt's pledges to improve the roads and "NO" to all the new developments that caused landslides? The whole highlands have changed so much since the last few decades. Even the famous Silk Maker from Thailand Jim Thompson loved the hills and got lost inside, never to be found. I hope the town planners will help to improve the roads and prevent soil erosions so that it will continue to be the best resorts in Malaysia. I think they should build Cable Cars like the one in HKG's Lantau Island.

    1. Same here, I hate the traffic jam the most, else CH is really a good place to visit.
And also, landslide, that is an obstacle also, often hear got landslide, then we will be terrified of going already.

    2. Yes, if there's cable cars, Cameron Highland would definitely become very popular. More tourists will definitely visit it.

    3. yeah, Cameron Highlands is a nice place if we don't go and think about the traffic and also the driving up hill.. the greens and the fresh air are really something i would love to see and breathe in~~ :)

    3. I don't think grapes can be grown here. It's so super hot when compared to Cameron.

      Delete
    4. haha, even if we can grow grapes, we probably need to spend time to take care of the plants until it fruits.. i always think gardening is like raring pets too, you don't just give them food and water, but also needs very delicate care given like you are treating them as your baby~~ :)

So, today's post is totally a surprise for me! I never expect it'd be wenn's ;)
Like others said, must give you a big thumbs up for the effort, since you blog really alike her, the fonts, the background color, and the link to the wikipedia, also her short and straight to the point post, all very wenn style!

But just wondering, is it so coincident that your friend invited you to CH? Or you guys planned about it before?
Seems to me it's an impromptu trip la, hehe! Usually hor KL people will overnight at CH one...
Anyway, you guys go with 1 car? All guys ar? Most guys don't really like visiting farms or buy veges one, hehehe.. But of course can go there makan makan, and enjoy the fresh air la! So is CH cooling?

There are indeed many interesting things to see at CH, some vegetables are even new to me, never see those before. And some cactus, weird yet interesting!

You guys still manage to eat at Ipoh? Hmm, very productive ma! I bet your friend drives fast? Hehe...
So you enjoyed the trip la I guess? Though it's a bit rushing...

    1. Yep, wenn is indeed a generous person. I met her once, and I can instantly feel that, she brought Aden and I gifts too, but I din't prepare anything for her, as she sms-ed me very last minute that day, no time to prepare also, hehe.

And she also remembers us whenever she goes oversea, sure bring back some souvenirs for us one, sometimes even not telling us in advance and directly send the souvenirs to our doorstep. I also receive several things from her already, feel paiseh too, hehehe :p

But she is really getting busy lately, no more daily blogging, and hardly see her comments in our blogs, guess she got something new to do, apart from her job?

Anyway, it's nice to know a friend like her ;)

    2. Hi Hayley. Like you sensed it, I was indeed busy recently. I was involved in side business and I need to spent time on it. Therefore, I have to spend less time on blogging. Those day, all I had was just blogging. Anyway, I will try my best to visit all regular blogs.
