[#1247] went KFC yesterday and saw a special set on the billboard, saying they will donate RM0.50 to the World Food Programme for every such set sold.. i find that very meaningful, but looked clearly again, why is that special set exactly same as the normal set (right of the picture above) but RM0.50 more expensive??

i initially wanted to show my support but giving it a second thought, they could have just donate that RM0.50 from the normal sales, why should they ask the customers to top up that RM0.50 instead??!! this clearly see how untruthful and not geniune they are to make the donation.. if i want to donate, there are lots of other channels and why should i buy that charity meal from them?? although we can request to just get the normal set (i think), but being such a big corporation, if they want to do charity, then why not really do it and do it with heart, it's just so ironic to use such a trick don't you think??

  8. They are so insincere. Period.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Bottomline - they are not willing to let their profit margin affected. But if they got away with this, they can claim that they have Corporate Social Responsibility, at the expenses of their customers. Clever, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  10. But will they decrease the price after this or just quietly laughing all the way to the bank with that extra RM0.50 once the pledge is over?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think I'd be happier donating my RM10 to the cause directly instead of being cheated by a big corporation!

  12. even though I won't have finger lickin good meal for that RM10.

    ReplyDelete
  16. that is just bullshit! Being is a charity, they cannot charge it to the customers.

    ReplyDelete
  17. if we were the to donate, we do not need to pay for a meal.. like you said there are more channels than to pay them that extra money when they clearly say "charity "we will donate RM0.50 to the world hunger fund".

  19. KFC is also going down the drain lately too :(. Their chicken are not so nice anymore and always much injury in the meats :3.

    ReplyDelete
  21. LV,
I totally agree with you. Too much injury can be seen in the chicken meat. @.@

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yup! Boycott!!! This is cheating people into thinking that KFC is doing something for charity but in fact, you are the one donating - they are not even contributing 1 sen!!! Tsk! Tsk!

Don't eat there! We can go and donate to our own charities - lots around.

    ReplyDelete
  23. P.S.
I have not eaten anything from KFC for a long time now...since the ones my missus bought from the outlet nearby - no meat texture, just like jelly. Ewekkkk!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi SK!

We are just few steps away from KFC (literally) but we haven't eaten there for the past months...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hehehe, boycott KFC for its insincerity!

  28. Business tactics....=_=

    ReplyDelete
  29. That means they donate on your behalf? then they should say.. "customers donating 50sen.. not them... "

    ReplyDelete
  30. Disgusting! That's cheating the customers. Just don't buy that set. Thanks for the heads-up, SK.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh yea hor! They just added 50 cents to their original price! How tricky of them! I agree with you.. this means WE are the donors now instead of KFC! hmmpf!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree with your say. I am not going to support this charity act.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks for enlightening this C9, me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha that's really lame of them... I hate that coins box for charity too, cause not 100% will go to charity. If they have no small change, they take from the box, if the cashier have shortage, they take from the box also...

I prefer to do my charity the right way :D

  35. There is one advs about rice...every 10kg they will donate duno 250gm or 25gm of it to the needy. Wah lau eh..if i buy 10kg of their rice...the donated rice is not even enough for a day's meal for a child leh

    ReplyDelete
  36. hmmm, instead of doing like that, they should sponsor the services taxes and government taxes to do charity ~~

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yikes.. they are taking it for granted... it is very clear that it is just a form of their marketing strategy sigh

    ReplyDelete
  38. one more ironic... I don't think it is very appropriate to show off the pictures of those kids along with their advertisements .. it feels like an exploitation for me

    ReplyDelete
  39. Imagine... you're going to buy such a nice food from kfc and then you will see the picture of these kids ..it doesn't feel good right?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just wish that they're doing for a good cause and not just to attract more sales...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I know that .50 will make a difference especially if you sum up all the .50 donations from all their customers but if the company is not doing it by heart, I would rather seek for another way to donate too

    ReplyDelete
  42. good morning Sk and Happy Blogging

    ReplyDelete
  43. They gain credit for doing this. Our as consumer pay for it?

    ReplyDelete
  44. ya man i hate this kind of gimmick also!

  45. Wow saw your new header with right lighted hand giving out light..let there be light! So you are 風 or 雲 as in the Storm Riders? haha

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ooo... there's a lot of these tactics on the market, especially on the franchise restaurant / company. Buy this, donate $ to xxx charity.

We are paying more to support their so called charity work....

    ReplyDelete
  47. Aren't they suppose to do charity without bringing burdens their customers?

If they used their customers' $$$ to do the charity, isn't this deceiving? Tsk tsk....

    ReplyDelete
  48. Normally I don't really do the calculation when come to charity offered by chain restaurants. But now I'm alert.

Thanks for pointing it out, SK!

    ReplyDelete
  49. They should at least add in something extra for the donation set. Customers will surely feel cheated, though many will not bother to check like you!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Good to highlight this! Should not let KFC get away with this!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anyway I seldom eat KFC nowadays. Always feel bloated after eating it - surely something not good or unhealthy with their food.

    ReplyDelete
  52. And since they are so stingy with their money, I bet they are equally stingy when coming to their raw materials. I bet their chicken are all fed with growth hormones to increase the size as fast as possible so they can sell more of them!

    ReplyDelete
  53. first, i dont believe this kind of things... how they used the money after that?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Will they transfer the money to help them or transfer money to their own pocket?

maybe, current government not money and need some big corporation to help them...

    ReplyDelete
  55. like that... i will not eat KFC until this promotion finish hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  56. wow... didnt even realize that. sneaky!

they should donate that 0.50 from the original price rather than topping it up!

    ReplyDelete
  57. U r so detailed! I saw that advertisement but I did not notice the charges. hehe...

    ReplyDelete
  58. eeeeeeeeeeeeee.. so jahat KFC! If me, I'll just pay and NOT know anything as I never bothered about what I paid..

There was once I paid at the cashier and tak ambik balik the change oso.. until Darling asked me, where's the change? I said, "Huh?!"

Now u know why I'm not allowed to handle money lah... -_-

    @ Caroline Ng May Ling:
nope, they cannot do that!! they still have the normal snack plate on their menu, we have the right to choose that normal one instead of the world hunger meal!! yes, i think most people will not realise that RM0.50 difference, but i am very sensitive to the price so i immediately found that our!! it's so unfair and this is very unethical to force the customers to buy that meal set!! we pay the money and they get the credit, what a joke!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. @ Kelvin:
yes, that is not sincere and also cheating the customers!!

    @ lina:
yeah, that's their bottomline not to affect their profit margin, and yet want to get the credit of social responsibility.. i am totally not agreeable with that!! well, let's see how they are charging the normal meal once this pledge is over.. you are right, i would be happier to donate RM50 to the cause directly and not just RM0.50 through KFC.. from that, i am paying KFC to get the credit and why should i?? i can't even get any tax exemption from there!! why should i then?? this is just so unfair.. i really hope to spread this to a lot of people out there..

    ReplyDelete
  61. @ bluecloud:

    @ Kian Fai:
errr, i have no idea on dinner plate but looks like it's only on snack plate.. yeah, why should we pay that RM0.50 extra for KFC to make the donation?? i might as well go for other channels, and from there i can get my tax exemption right??

    ReplyDelete
  62. @ wenn:
yeah, very unethical deed i would say.. not sincere at all..

    @ ladyviral:
yes, it's like we are paying the money for them to get the credit!! so unfair!! why should we pay for that, might as well go to other channel and use our own names to make the donation, somemore we can get tax exemption also!! very unethical deed of KFC.. haha, you puke each time eating KFC?? wow, that's something interesting to know, maybe you can sue them for making you sick, hahaha!! oh, really getting worse?? but i think KFC elsewhere aren't as nice as those in Malaysia leh..

    ReplyDelete
  63. @ edward:

    @ lina:
wow!! you both are really having sharp eyesight huh.. can even see the injuries in the chicken meat??

    ReplyDelete
  64. @ suituapui:
yes, they are cheating!! deceiving the customers that they are donating, but nope, the donation are all born by us!! they just get the credit without having to pay a single sen!! so unethical!! you are right, we can just go elsewhere and make donation on our own names, and get tax exemption too, then why should go though KFC?? hmmm, no meat texture and taste like jelly?? yucks!! that's disgusting, did you complain??

    @ Ayie:
hmmm, maybe you are not a fans of KFC?? haha.. or there are just too many nicer food around.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. @ Alice Law:
yes!! boycott and i think maybe i should write about this on their facebook?? haha..

    @ Bananazஇ:
yeah, that's what they really have in mind!! but i am always a smart consumer, don't ever think of cheating my money, even a single sen..

    @ Hayley:
    unethical business tactic!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. @ reanaclaire:
well, definitely we are paying for their donation to the fund and they get all the credit for social responsibility.. and don't forget that 6% tax on that extra RM0.50!!

    @ HappySurfer:
that unethical act is very disgusting, yes, i did not get that set, i insist of getting the normal one.. it's now not a matter of choice but it's how KFC is so dishonest..

    ReplyDelete
  68. @ iamthewitch:
yes, they add RM0.50 on your meal, and don't forget you also pay for 6% tax for that additional!! so are we also paying tax for donation?? that's ridiculous!!

    @ Sheoh Yan:
hmmm, i am more C9 than you because i noticed the price difference, haha!! yes, boycott KFC!! this act from them is just so absurd!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. @ Daniel Chiam:
yeah, i think all are pretentious!! asking the customers to pay RM0.50 for charity, but they get all the credits, and also the 6% tax on that extra!! oh, i think i am not surprise the staff are using the coins from the charity box, fake!!!

    @ Small Kucing:
well, let's not talk about how much rice is enough.. that's what they said in the advertisement but who knows whether they are doing the right thing behind?? these are all marketing gimmicks lah..

    ReplyDelete
  70. @ Medie007:
yes, have you eaten KFC recently?? then you were cheated..

    @ Xjion89:
yes, and when they charge us RM0.50, we still have to pay the 6% tax for the extra.. meaning, we have to pay tax for donation!! how ridiculous!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. @ bluedreamer27:
i think it's fine to show the photos of the children, it's not causing any issues over here, because that's they way to attract more people to make the donations.. but then, with such strategy i would think it's really inappropriate, why do we need to donate through a fast food restaurant and pay for them to earn the credit, might as well we donate through other channels?? yeah, they should do it by heart, it's charity and not profit!! i hope KFC in your country isn't doing this, haha.. :D

    @ Jobless Girl:
yes, they gain credit from doing this.. and we pay for the credit!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. @ Casendra:
yes, totally insincere and deceiving!! i am very irritated by this act from them..

    @ Bananazஇ:
errr, new header?? it has been there for like a month lah, you didn't noticed that?? gosh~~

    ReplyDelete
  73. @ yvonne:
yes, exactly!! they should be the one who make the donation and not making us donate for them to earn the credit right?? it's just seem so ridiculous to me, how can they even do that?? hmmm, be sensitive to all these, i used to remember it's RM10.10 a set, but suddenly realised that charity meal is RM0.50 more expensive, something is not right!! haha, so sometimes become a silai sensitive to price is also not a bad idea huh?? :D

    @ foongpc:
i think a lot of customers didn't realise they are paying extra for the donation and for KFC to earn to credit without paying a single sen.. this is so not good right?? i mean if they want us to pay extra, then they must also contribute the same, or else what's the meaning?? i might as well go elsewhere to donate, why should i donate through KFC correct?? hahahaha, well, as for how they feed the chicken and process the chicken from the farm to the factory to the kitchen and right to us.. there were already a few movie clips in youtube we have seen.. anyway those are really undercover, but this deed of getting the donation straight away from the customers is just too obvious, they thought we are dead or what?? i really find that ridiculous..

    ReplyDelete
  74. @ CH Voon:
well let's not talk about how they use the money, but at the very first instance already they are not handling the thing well.. don't you find it very ridiculous to ask the customer to top up with the donation, and pay for them to earn the credit?? well, you can still go eat KFC lah, but make sure you insist that they charge you the normal price and you do not want to make the donation!! that's it, boycott that..

    @ kyh:
yes, indeed!! they should have donated that RM0.50 from their own profit and not asking us to top up for them to gain the credit right?? so ridiculous!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. @ mNhL:
yes, i feel lucky i was so detailed.. because i remember i usually pay for RM10.10, but how come this one needs RM0.50 extra?? hmmm, so this trick from KFC is really quite effective because many people will not realise the small changes..

    @ Merryn:
haha, now you know they are so bad right?? you must be more sensitive to price and money lah, cannot always like that.. maybe you have too much money to spend so you never bother those little money, haha!! why not train yourself, and only allow yourself RM10 a day, see how you can survive and appreciate that little money~~ :p
