first of all, i would like to admit that i am pathetically poor in recognizing people, if one day you see me somewhere and i didn't notice you, please don't misunderstand that i am an arrogant person, it's just that i cannot recognize you, sorry, keke!! there are about 2-million people in KL, those i know would not be more than 0.01%, sometimes i can't recognize people i know, but on the other hand, i could recognize people i do not know.. especially those whom you see often at the same place and at the same time, for example those who catch the same train every morning, those who hit the same gym after work, the boss and workers of the same eatery you frequent.. you don't know each other but seeing them all the time, even strangers become familiar.. there are actually a lot of such "familiar strangers" in my life, many still remain strangers but some have eventually become (so-called hi-bye) friends.. it's something rather amazing between humans, it's all about fate and destiny i believe, hence i am truthfully glad that i know all of you here in this virtual world of blogging!! of course, i would also like to dedicate this post to all "familiar strangers" out there~~ :)

    6. Eh, Xiao Ying, what has short got to do with recognition leh? Nomatter how short or tall the person, I will still recognize the face ma.. It's the face kan?

    7. That's true one, last time I went over to Singapore to meet up some bloggers at the MRT station, they're telling me that they can't recognize me...I've to go bump into them then only they realized that's me!!!

    8. Good morning Xiao Ying and all...wah....10 days First Commenter ke? Congratulations...

I don;t think I can recognise you la if we were to bump into each other. ANyway will be too shy to go up to you and say hi...takut salah orang . malu leh./

Seldom see your photos in Blog so kinda was was whether it's you or not if i were to bump into you.

But if it is Wenn or Princess Ribbons, I think I can recognise them la. Have seen wenn's photos many times and from what Anay and SK whom met her before, they say she very friendly. Am sure she will recognise me first and I wont be scared to say hello to her.

As for Princess Ribbons...well....sure can recognise la...unless she take out all her ribbins...betul tak? Hard not to recognise leh

    10. Got 10 day so long meh??? You really calculate it or what? Hehe!!! Thanks!!! =]

Is very hard for me to have a picture of me, I always criticize myself doesn't look good in the picture, even I did take picture of myself I still remove it, hehe!!!

    11. if have not met before, then would be a bit difficult because what we have seen are just photos on the blogs only.. but then i guess after meeting up a couple of times, sure no problem recognizing each other lah.. next time if any of you bump into me, just come and tegur lah, don't scared and i won't eat you one, haha~~

      Delete
    12. hahah wait for SK chart come out then we'll know how many days.

Why shy leh Xiao Ying. I see here you can chat well mah. Hmm...i bet if come out you will talk nineteen to dozen leh.

Don't self critise too much la. have more self confidence. You still young. Your father is waiting for you to take over his business leh. Have to be confidence.

Yea...first time meet SK also everyone shy shy leh last time....have to "pretend" lady like mah...smile tiny smile....not laugh like hyena. But now after met him few times so no more shy leh.

same goes for Anay and michi. At first i feel inferior leh..both so world wise leh. They have travelled far and wide and have met all sort of people.

But now after meeting few times...oh well...they are human too la.

Easy to recognise ANay coz he is so tall. As tall as Kaldip LOL

Lina pulak a bit hard to recognise coz tak sama like photo...look prettier in real life

      Delete
    13. but i think many people are very different online and in real person.. online because cannot see, and have time to think before responding mah, so probably seems to be more talkative.. but when meeting in real, probably all shy shy and "pretend" to be more ladylike and gentleman lor, haha!! but then after meeting up few more rounds and get closer, all the true colors come out lah~~ :D

    3. This happens to me also, I also can't recognize people, most of the time I need the person who recognize me to call me then only I can barely recall maybe we had met before, hahaha!!!

    4. I lagi teruk, got glasses dont wana wear coz "oi leang mm moi meang" ma.. So especially in shopping malls, I quite scared also.. Worried that I might bump into friends or colleagues or even relatives, then if I didn't tegur them they say I action pulak.. So when they call me back, I will faster explain la, that I'm short-sighted.. hehehe..

      Delete
    5. Good morning, Princess. Yes, today I'm early as I don't need to cook. Well, I can recognise you too should I bump into you.

      Delete
    6. Me too, Princess Ribbon, I can recognize your ribbon, that's your trademark, hehe!!! =]

      Delete
    7. Xiao Ying, I don't always wear ribbons to work one wor.. Sometimes floral clips, sometimes butterfly clips, sometimes bling bling cips, sometimes lollipop clips, sometimes polka dot clips.. Hehehe, so not always ribbons la..

      Delete
    8. Ooo, but next time if we meet up, you must wear ribbon, so that I can spot on you easily!!! =]

    9. Good morning Wenn.

Hard to believe wor that you are bad in recognise people. You so out going. I thought you will be good in recognising people leh.

Well, at least i think you be better than me la. haha
Xiao Ying...easy la...see got lady with ribbons or clips or something like that sure agak agak can see it's Princess Ribbons la. See her FB. The dress she wore is always so cheerful type/ Unless she suddenly wear all dull and dark color and muka serious then maybe cannot recognise la.

      Delete
    10. Haha, Meow, I wana laugh liao.. Ya wor, my working dress all colourful and flowery type.. Even if I'm in a bad mood that day, my dress still the same la, coz I don't have any single plain dress in my closet.. All also got flower la, stripes la, checkers la, polka dots one..

      Delete
    11. Then sure no problem recognising you. So flowery ! Lol

    12. Wenn - sometimes we could be thinking something or too focus that we overlook people near us.

    13. true, Chris. I tend to be like that. Deep in thoughts even while walking.

      Delete
    14. when i am with friends, i will be talking with friends and won't look around for people i know.. when i am alone, i will walk very fast, and no time to look around for people i know.. haha, so if you see me from far or if we are passing by each other, please call out my name loud~~ geez!! :D

      Delete
    15. strange that you mentioned this "when i am with friends, i will be talking with friends and won't look around for people i know", SK

I have one friend whom gf always broke up with him during school days. reason? that was the reason lor. The sentence you qouted.

Only in his case is that hand holding one girl hand but eyes looking at other girls ...LOL.,Pity him and yet he complain to me asking why girls so small gas.

As for calling your name out loud in public ah...ahem ahem...sure or not SK? You no shy ka? Last time I did a few times leh. walking then saw friends from across the street and i shouted the name...then the friend like wanna dig a hole and hide leh.

After that i more low profile la...if sempat cath the friend then catch...otherwise just sms and say hey i saw u just now...tak sempat call out. LOL.

      Delete
    16. errr, your friend is opposite lah.. he will be looking for other pretty ladies on the street while holding the GF's hand?? haha, padan muka lah like that.. i mean, if talking with friends, the eye will be looking at friends mah, how to look other places?? unless there's a moment of awkward silence and try to find things around as topic to continue talking :D

errr, why not?? i am okay one if you shout at me from across the street, but Meow your voice not so loud right?? or maybe you were calling your friend his very unglamour nickname so he malu to admit?? haha~~ :D

    5. I can't recognize roads, always need gps to go to my destination, but if go back I always lazy to use gps, I just follow KL and PJ road, then that's for sure I'll be able to reach home!!! =]

    6. Tell you one secret, I don't know how to use the GPS la.. Those days, have to buy that big chunk, Garmin izzit.. Now, ok, got smartphone liao, can use Google map or Waze, but still, I feel I "don't know" how to use.. Like very confuse like that especially when the fella said "take up the right ramp".. What is ramp? Sometimes, see sign board better?

      Delete
    7. yes Sharon, both Claire and I have seen you before so there won't be any problem for us to recognise you. Do come to Ipoh one day and we will go for some nice Ipoh food.

      Delete
    8. I forced to use gps also, because mostly I go to those place by my own, if no gps I'll be lost, but sometimes with the gps I also might get lost, because I always take the wrong turn then got to u turn back, it's wasting time and wasting petrol, but what to do, got to always try an error then only become smart mah!!! =]

      Delete
    9. I don't use gps. Just simply use my memory to recognise those places that I have been. Otherwise, I get directions from my people.

      Delete

    18. i think if you have a clear profile picture or you always post photos of yourself, won't be difficult to recognize lah.. some bloggers will never want to show their handsome and pretty face, those of course cannot blame us for not recognizing them, for we don't even know what the hell the look like right?? unless everyone has their name printed on their forehead, hahaha!! :D

      Delete
    19. Muhahaha.....wont be the first time kena called small kucing in public ....Bet pretty soon you will be having perople calling you out loud in public as Princess Ribbons. Yeah that is the online life. sometimes can remember the online profile but cant remember the name LOL...

Some bloggers likes low profile lor. Maklumlah...online...if become famous already duno which stalker will come and stalk leh.

Me ...i prefer put cat photo coz blog name small kucing mah...some more that photo i snapped on my own one. So tak takut copyright punya problem lo.

      Delete
    3. oh that's very dangerous recognising the wrong daddy. Anyway, that happened to my kids too. They simply grabbed someone's hand instead of mine.

      Delete
    4. Yah, kids always like that, my nieces did the same thing as well, I think is pretty common, right?

    5. Common enough error.

But i think to your custmer , we chinese also same all over. all mata sepet . Like when I give birth,...the bidan also say chinese bb all the same...mata sepet one. Kakaka

Wah wrong daddy ah...that is very dangerous leh...later follow wrong daddy home how?

But when i was young i pernah hold on the wrong person punya baju la...but lucky notice fast la.

      Delete
    6. haha, that's funny!! recognize the wrong daddy and holding the hand of the wrong mommy.. but can be dangerous also lah if the wrong person is a bad person, better make your kids under your good custody.. and then very true that we may find all other people of another ethnic look quite the same :)

    1. Oh there was many times people think I’m action ahh, coz I don’t “tegur” them when I see them in malls.. Wait, wait, let me finish.. I’m not arrogant, but I’m short-sighted !! I only wear my glasses when I’m driving and at home (when I’m vacumming or watching TV), that’s all.. I don’t wear glasses at work or when I go out, can still see, but not clear, and I can’t see people’s faces and also the price on the menu (stick on the walls of the coffeeshop)..

There was a few times I bumped into some people that I know, and just walked passed them, but I didn’t say hi. They actually gostan back and called me, I felt paiseh and quickly explained and blamed it on my short-sighted-ness..

Many times already la.. Like when I was having lunch with my friend the other day, I could feel somebody from next table kept staring at our table.. My friend even asked me “eh, you know the fella one izzit, coz the fella keeps looking at you”.. I looked at the fella, then I told my friend I couldn’t see the fella becoz I was not wearing my glasses..

Then you know what my fren did? She took out her phone, camera mode, then zoomed on the next table’s fella’s face in camera mode, and showed to me and asked me “so, you know the fella or not”..

Last last, nope, I don’t know the fella, but I dunno why the fella kept staring.. From the moment we sat down and ordered our food, until our food came, until we finished our food.. Chisin..

      Delete
    2. Anyway, yes, I agree with you.. I can sometimes recognize strangers, especially in my condo compound la.. Like when I am taking the lift, or when I’m walking (from the carpark to the lift).. Sometimes I know the fella, but the fella dunno me.. Vice versa.. Sometimes the fella seems to know me and says hi and says “hi, you are Kz’s mum right”, terbalik I dunno the fella.. So it’s the same la..

      Delete
    3. Like here, in the bloggerworld, u dunno me, I dunno you (unless those who has met up and became friends).. But if bumped into each other outside, I think I can be able to recognize you, Meow, TM, STP, Angeline, Rose, Claire they all kua.. Those who no really show face in their blog like Phong Hong, then I dunno their face lor.. teehee..

Like me, always selfie selfie and take own picture then *tak malu* post in blog, I think terbalik you all, ok, not all, but I think 1 or 2 will recognize me kua if you bump into me somewhere.. hehe..

      Delete
    4. Hehe, wonder if I came in front of you, don't know you can recognize me or not because they always claim I hardly show my picture in my blog, hahaha!!!

      Delete
    5. Of coz I can recognize you.. I see the fella one time I can remember her/his face liao.. Really.. Coz we always "meet" in the bloggerworld ma, so automatically I can remember the blogger's face one..

Like SK said, sometimes very weird, I can't recognize my neighbor's face who lives next door, but somehow I can keep thinking and recognize some blogger here.. I guess coz we "see" each other here everyday.. We are just a click away!

      Delete
    6. Hahaha!!! You so funny la, I think part of the reason because the must do thing during weekdays in the morning is to vist SK blog, that's why you're more familiar with us!!! Yeah!!! =]

      Delete
    7. I suppose most of us here seem to be 'familiar' to each other. Should we meet, we can recognise each other easily.

      Delete
    8. I agree wenn.. I can't even recognize my neighbor's hubby who sent her girl for me to babysit sometimes.. And the neighbour whom I ordered cupcakes from her.. Or the car-washer whom I pay to wash my car every week.. Even my neighbor next door, until his wife called me in the lift.. BUT BUT BUT I (think) I would be able to recognize everyone who commented today, except Sharon, hehe, coz she no show her face here..

      Delete
    9. Yah, I even though I know her blog for while already, but still can't tell how she looks, I think she shows her pictures before, but not so often (and same goes to me as well)

    10. Apa pulak early morning scolding chisin chisin ni...SK blog memang popular mah. normal la tu.

Hahaha...can recognise my cat face ah...sure boh....i come your office wait for you ok...see if you can recognise me. No need to wear red rose on baju hor.

recognise can ...but sometimes hard to place the face with a name.

Like the other day i tengah makan in the noodles shop. suddenly got one lady come up to me say Hi Kathy....I read your small kucing blog....Then i was like so shocked...alamak.....I see her face looks familiar but for the world money I can't seems to recall which blog she is from...

Gotta ask her " ...and you are?"....

I feel kinda bad as she recognised me but i dont recognise her. seems like so rude. some more that time i terpegun liao...duno what to say. LOL Really tak sangka go makan so ulu place also happens to bump into blog reader. Usually people will recognise j instead of me mah :p

      Delete
    11. Ooh Meow, I understand what you mean.. Ya lor, like I said, I bump into neighbor while waiting for lift.. Then she said "How is Kz now".. Wahlao.. I also stunned liao coz I dunno her, but she seems to know me, if not, takkan she knows I'm Kz's mum rite.. Same here la, keke.. But I pretended la, we still chat and chat like nobody's business (without asking her name), then in my heart was like "faster la the lift sampai", hehehehee... Am I bad?

    13. yeah, sometimes we just cannot recognize or didn't notice the person, that does not mean we are sombong lah, just come by and tegur and we surely are very friendly people, right?? hehe.. last time always got other bloggers recognize me and ask "hey, you are SK??" but now no more already, i am no more popular, hahahaha~ :D

  7. My sense of direction is poor. I hardly recognise new roads. Sometimes I need to take a shot of those strange places like I used to do during travels. Afraid I might get lost. Indeed I got lost once. I showed the picture to a local and she showed me the exact direction. Lucky me!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Same here, my sense of direction is very bad.. Don't ask me to drive if I don't know that place, I think I will cry.. But if I know and familiar with the road liao, close eyes also I can drive very fast *action mode*.

But really, if you give me an address (which I dunno), and ask me to drive there, I think I will cry and keep stressing and thinking about it whole week.. But if I know that place or I've been to that place b4, then no problem..

I have a lot of female friends who are "stronger" than me, they are not afraid to drive to anywhere.. Just give them the address, and a tank full of petrol, then ok liao, they are not afraid, they said.. But me terbalik lor, even until now I still afraid leh of driving (if I dunno that place) or if that place very hard to find parking..

      Delete
    2. I don't use gps and that's the problem. That was once I wanted to give a surprise visit to a friend. I had the address and I thought I could find it. But to no success. I even lost my way out! Thank someone I asked who personally guided me out from that strange place.

      Delete
    3. I'm like that la, but must have gps aside, but my gps is my phone so must have another device which is power bank, if not battery dies then how? But my mom thought me argh, if lost at somewhere else, try to stop a taxi, tell the taxi where you want to go, pay him money, then you follow his car, but that works for last time la, now is pretty dangerous already!!! =[

      Delete
    4. It's safer to take shots of those places that we are not familiar so that we don't get lost in a strange place. Very risky! Oh I don't tell my girl to do that. The taxi driver might lead you somewhere else.

      Delete

    4. Yes! I totally had no idea how that Handsome Sibu's Food Mayor looked like as he hardly posted his mascot photos in earlier days. I only noticed a smoker looking at my directions a few times and he probably guessed I just looked as familiar too as I was not supposed to be at that restaurant that night. My host was a radio DJ who chose that venue as last minute's decision and fate brought me to meet Small Kucing too. The little boy was restless and stuck his neck out of the car all the time. He attracted my attention and prompted me to ask him where was his mysterious mummy!!! Wah! That Mama Kucing appeared suddenly in defense and wanted to claw me! She must have thought a stranger wanted to kidnap her son! LOL

I've had my embarrassing moments..about faces and names. Yes, even sitting together with strangers at a meal counts as one lifetime and to be able to sit together (even as strangers) would require tens of liftetimes. Imagine how many lifetimes we would have to go through to be able to be husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend or in a family. Moral of the story? Let's appreciate the people we have in our life for it is fate that brought us together.

    5. hahahaha, all very familiar incidents that have happen on me before!! sometimes it can be very embarrassing, but not that we are sombong just that we cannot recognize the people.. and because of that, maybe misunderstanding happens, haiz!! if the person is friendly then okay lah, when meet again a the usual place (i mean, for example, you cannot recognize the pan mee auntie in other places, but only recognize her at her stall like that), he/she will remind you about bumping into you and you did not respond, so that can be settled lah.. but to some very petty person, probably that's it already..

For example, I can't recognise my dentist outside the clinic even though I have seen him without mask on. I guess I only can recognise those people whom I see frequently enough. And you are right about those familiar strangers. Somehow we take note of them perhaps because we see them often enough.

It's like recognizing a singer also, some singer I can straight tell who it is by listening to the song, but some just cannot. Voices that are easy to recognize to me are like the late Michael Jackson (I am sure most people can recognize), Pitbull, Rihanna, Shakira (that's all I can think of at the moment...), just feel that their voices are unique...

    3. So Libby since you're good in recognizing voice, have you joined those guessing games before? You know sometimes radio organize those guess-the-artist- game, they play a snippet of his/her voice when talking and then we guess?
If you do I guess you can win easily, hehe!

  28. Strangers that I met in the street sometimes has become my friends, I like making friends, even those aunties and uncles working in a coffeeshop, sometimes I will talk to them like a family, but of course I don't anyhow make friends with any Tom, Dick or Harry lah, haha.

  29. Ello ello!

I am super late for this post! Din't turn on my laptop at all yesterday (16th) cause not at home, so missed to spam on the first place! Now only manage to blog hop and leave comments (already is 18th), and I see got 164 comments already! Wow! Wonder when can I get this number of comments at my blog? May be combine 8 posts baru can get 160 comments in total, haha! What to do? I am not as famous as you :p xD

anyway, back to your topic.... Firstly, I must give you an high 5!! I am super 差 in recognizing people too!! xD In fact, I have very poor memory, it's like I am thinking of doing something but with just 2-3 seconds, I can totally forgot about it already. For instance, I wanna go upstair and take Aden's pampers and my handphone, but when I reach the room, I took my handphone but forgot about Aden's pampers already, I knew there's something else I must take but just cannot recall! Serious hor? Haih, I also know it's kinda serious but what to do? Memory cannot be 'practise' and improve one, if it's poor means it'll only gets poorer!!! :(
So same goes to recognizing people la!

  30. Well, I wanna say the same thing like you mentioned, sometimes when I don't say HI doesn't means I am arrogant, it's just I cannot recognize all of a sudden, must take few seconds to recall....
And the case you mentioned, sometimes happened on me too. Even though strangers and we don't know each other's names, but automatically can recognize cause seeing each other daily, almost at the same place some more. Sometimes I have a special impression (影像) on someone due to his/her hairstyle, the way he/she dress up, or may be the way he/she talks/laugh!

Whatever it is, it sure is fate like you said. It's really fate and destiny that cause 2 people to know each other, and also eventually fall in love and got married and so on.... It's really amazing right? It just feels so.... weird yet is a pleasant kinda thing (hmm don't know what's the proper word to describe...just feel very 奇妙 la!)

By the way, this is another interesting topic, and though we haven't meet each other, I can tell you must be someone very nice to talk to ;) And thanks to your supports in my blog, also all the lovely gifts you have given to me!
Perhaps someday we can really meet up, I bring Aden to play with you, wakakaka!

    1. Oh, wonder can you recognize me if see me on the street some day? Haha xD
Actually hor, some friends commented that I look very different with and without specs. Hmm, I don't know la but I think not that big difference wo! May be they don't see me frequently? But I do know that some people looks quite different just with the change of hairstyle or dressing. Like sometimes when I tie up my hair and wear spec, I look like a 黄脸婆 (wuwuwu), but what to do, it's so much easier to dress up like that! But when I wear contact lens and let down my hair, I look more 'proper', LOL! xD
Of course with make up on, that's a whole different story la! With make up sure harder to recognize lo! You know those Taiwanese program always likes to compare a girl's before and after one, but some are truly 夸张 lo! Without make up the eyes macam dead drop sleepy but after make up, it's like wearing magnifying glass! So big and attractive, macam can talk..... Haha! Sometimes I really cannot tell who is who in the program, but it could be due to publicity also la, they purposely create such a big difference to have the 'wow' effect~
