30.11.2012 | 街頭涂鴉

[Volume 7 Issue 11, #1614]
many claimed that graffiti are a kind of vandalism that bring bad image to a city's appearance, but i totally disagree with that.. instead i like graffiti and admire how talented those people can be to get things up with just a can of spray paint.. afterall those graffiti are definitely done with effort and heart, i think we should treat them as artwork.. the collage of pics above are graffiti taken while i was walking down a random street in barcelona years back, i was so impressed and quickly took my camera to take snapshots of them.. i especially like that orange eye-popping habitat at the bottom, hehe!! of course, when i say i like graffiti, i am not referring to those reproductive organs and numbers all over the toilet walls.. :D

  1. The witty and often very funny graffiti on the toilet walls in Oz are a tourist attraction. I love staying in one just to read all of them... Nothing like the ones we see here. Tsk! Tsk!

    2. I guess I need to travel to Barcelona to admire all these lovely graffitis. Is there any other country that SK would recommend to see exotic graffitis? I think there are nude graffiti arts near Bondi Beach in Sydney. Anyone been there?

    1. oh, you actually seen those people drawing the graffiti on the wall. I would love to see how they actually do it.

    2. yeah, i would say they are really amazing.. they just hold a can of spray paint, and they can control that so well!! i really salute them for being so artistic..

  4. I don't find graffiti a sort of vandalism. Most of them are artisticly done. In my town here, outside the zoo, one of the wall has graffiti nicely done. And I notice the theme changed quite frequently.

There were Alice In Wonderland theme, Hari Raya theme and someone's wedding theme.

    1. Guess those artists are really gifted. They can just draw with free hands.

    2. hmmm, maybe what you have been seeing are sponsored by the town council?? perhaps it is now mural rather than graffiti already??

      Delete
    3. I have yet to see any graffiti on the walls that look so nice and creative like what SK has posted. That one Thambee posted looked like being done by professionals who were hired to paint like graffiti.

    4. Someday I believe the Art Colleges might teach graffiti drawings as a modern subject since it is a form of expressions since the surrealism, realism, abstracts and etc were being introduced.

  5. The toilet 'graffiti' is done by those have-better-nothing-to-do-while-sh*tting people and they are trying to grab attention of the next person coming in to the cubicle.

    These are real vandalism!

    1. I hate it when irresponsible people conteng the wall. I punished my kids when they used my wall as their writing / drawing canvas. My wall is free from pen, pencil and color pencil (up to now).

      Delete
    2. And I really don't understand why people bring along marker pen into the toilet? Shouldn't they be bringing tissue paper or toilet roll? Geeh!

The students in my school last time liked to do graffiti (back then, I'm sure this term is not a hit!) in the toilet. So not only the toilet was wet and smelly, the sight was dirty and ugly. And I was studying in all-girls school!! Where was their manners?!

      Delete
    3. Wah! Ah Hua so garang and punished your innocent kids? They dunno mah. Then ask hubby to paint the wall with oil based paint and can wipe off drawings.

    4. I saw one graffiti on the fly over road fence before. It was written in Chinese. It stated something like this, " Bitch, your mom taught to flirt with people husband kah?" Then, it also had the "bitch" home address there as part of th graffiti.

When we drove pass that fly over, my girls read those words loudly to me. I faint.

      Delete
    5. LOL! Wakakakaka... I think KL also had one like this scolding the husband directly. Next time we will scold SP by spraying outside his fence!

      Just write "Grrrrrrrr Grrrrr Grrrrrr!!!"

      Delete
    6. LOL ya ya agreed with Yvonne there. theones at the toilet door really tarak kerja cari kerja one/

j also kena i piak coz conteng wall. for a moment he will remember but the forget and doo again

      Delete
    7. wow, first time see Ah Hua so garang here, haiyoh, totally spoil her sweet little mommy image already..

yalor, i really don't understand why those people likes to conteng on the wall?? i will not do that, if i ever do that, i will make sure it looks nice and artistic!! and or course, i will never ever write my phone number on the wall, hahaha!!

actually do you know what is the most common "graffiti" in KL?? all kinds of XXX massage and the phone number, hahaha!!

      Delete
  6. I admire graffiti too. I would say they were creatively done. Such drawings need skills and imaginative brains. For one, I won't be good at that at all. So I always envy those who could do it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yes, very creative and artistic!! they can really control the spray paint so well that you can never find flaws on the graffiti, even with a pen i cannot draw them.. that is why i admire those graffiti artists..

  7. Local graffitis are slowly catching up. Not colourful enough like what SK has posted. Maybe Nippon Paint should sponsor them with spray cans.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Now, the most famous local graffitis are all at your old home town TM. I saw many people taking picture with that graffitis. I must also do that if I go there this Christmas.

      Delete
    2. Maybe it's rather expensive to use colored paints.

      Delete
    3. yeah, the local graffiti culture is slowly picking up.. if you have been around Pasar Seni area, you will be able to see on the walls along the Klang River, there is like 2km long of spaces for the graffiti, and i think Dulux actually sponsored that.. it's a nice view, if you take the LRT..

      Delete
    4. Okay I will visit Pasar Seni this weekend and look out for them. Hey I was trained in art, design and business advertising as well so I should appreciate them lah.

  8. So far many restaurants and fast food outlets used graffiti art to decorate their walls. It is cheaper for them that way to reprint same sets of art drawings for all outlets.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Is it? For saving cost purpose? I thought they are trying to standardize their wall deco by using the same sets of art drawings? Their signature look, mah~~

      Delete
    2. hmmmm, i have not seen graffiti arts in restaurants, fast food chains maybe just one or two but not really graffiti.. what they have are computer drawn arts in graffiti style..

yvonne, not all restaurants are standardizing their interior deco, some allows the different outlets to have their own designs..

  9. SK sure likes weird-weird looking objects. Thus he sets his eyes on that orange creature with its distorted eyes. I, on the other hand, noticed the McD fries, kekekeke.... this shows I'm a glutton person :p

    1. But I think SK has a pair of very observant eyes. He sees things that seldom people sees. I kind of salute him. I find he has this type specialty from the comments he left in my comment box. Many times. I must credit him

    2. Both our Hamsaperors SP & SK have special gifted eyes to see things that we don't want to see. SP watches pornos, bananas and small gals.
