was in a bakery shop this afternoon when i saw how differently a staff treated two different customers, was really "impressed" by how good she could changed her behavior within the short 2 minutes..

first there was a couple, could have been here because of the famous "roti kid" bun but not realised the bun should be ordered, pay and taken directly from the cashier.. hence they asked the staff where the buns were placed in the shop, without even turning her head and continue with her own work, she just coldly replied the couple "cashier"..

then a foreigner tourist trying to find some chocolaty bread, couldn't really find any and he asked the staff where the bread were.. this time the staff put on a smiling face, put aside her work and professionally introduced some of their products to the tourist, the tourist found nothing interesting but yet the staff politely replied "no problem, thank you"..

it was really totally 180° different behavior the staff has over the two customers, obviously bias to foreigner was what i saw, i really think it's very rude of her, is the moon in the foreign country rounder than what we have it here?? but lucky her that i wasn't put into that situation, or else she shall have a good time for my complaints, hehe..

  2. Obviously you haven't been to the Coliseum for their famous sizzling steak.

The maître d' is arguably the most two-faced waiter in the world.

Foreigners are invited into the VIP room at the back and served in the best china. You can almost see him bowing 90deg to the matsallehs all the way from the entrance to the VIP room.

Locals are sitted at tables with stained table cloth at the front of the house, served in chipped dinnerware.

We vowed never to return. The sizzling steaks were overrated anyway.

  3. haha we did patronise Coliseum years ago (must have been more about 10 yrs!) and we were obviously seated at the main restaurant. tee, you remember? i still remember calvin was there -- and it must be with jess too? anyway, another classic 2 faced eg, our famous national airline - MAS -- they may have it in their code of conduct, treat Mat Salleh with a smile but locals without one, there goes my mileage to other airlines.

i've been to the coliseum years ago bor, but didn't know they have any VIP rooms.. and yes, we were definitely being seated in the main hall, stained table cloth and napkins.. anyway, we went there just to feel the retro ambience, there are actually more nicer restaurants for steaks out there.. hehe!!

  5. Tell me about it. This character can be found anywhere. I still remember vividly a few years back, when I took my elderly dad for a follow-up appointment after his eye operation. That day, it was an Asian nurse in her late 40s attending the reception (Royal Eye & Ear Hospital, Melb). While waiting for dad's turn, I noticed her politeness and patience with the OZ patients, esp. the elderly. Fr her accent, I also knew she was M'sian or S'porean. I thought to myself - wow, classic Asian virtues. 还是自己人呢。Heartwarming. But this thought was shortlived. When it came to dad's turn, her attitude changed. She became cold, straightfaced and talked without looking at us. Due to dad's hard of hearing (being in his late 70s), she became impatient & rude. She assumed I was merely a government appointed interpreter. "Tell this old man, blah, blah, blah..". That was when I leaned fwd, stared straight in her eyes and "screwed" her real hard: centre, left & right (verbally of course ;). Given her face, I wouldn't even touch her with a pole. Sorry. Probably sound a bit chauvinistic :p ). "Hey you, this old man happens to be my father!...", I blasted her a good minute or two, right in front of everyone. Funny to see her embarassed, shell-shocked face. Miraculously, she became apologetic & polite again. And even began to speak to my father in Mandarin! A true bitch indeed. She should have treated everyone with impatiality, more so to her own kind in a foreign land...

  6. well, i think most of these two-faced people are often afraid of nasty people, 欺善怕惡 that is.. so there is totally nothing wrong with you being harsh on her, she just deserved the "screw" from you, well done, hahaha!!

  7. Isn't it hard to live a life with 2 faces?

By switching mode to attain different people, is really tiring.

And why Mat Salleh always get the better treatment? Are Mat Salleh more polite, wealthier than Asians? People who have two face treating people like that are shallow.

If we wanted people to treat us nice, we must take the 1st move to treat others nicely.

  8. 可悲,虽然很讨厌可是这种人还是到处可见。不用紧,如果真遇到这种情况就据理力争。我觉得应该让这些有双重标准的人知道,别人是看到的。

hmm, i don't think it's of any difficulties to live a life with 2 faces, they just have this gifted skill.. haha!! but i just can't understand why they have to do that, it's really shallow like what you say..

    對, 這種人就是很可悲.. 不過管他是不是雙面人, 總之不要得罪我囉, 服務態度惡劣就是應該獎他一巴吧??
