24.10.2012 | 清淡健康

[Volume 7 Issue 10, #1577]
i have been having oats for breakfast since few months ago, of course i have to add in some dried fruits and nuts, else the tasteless oats is just too challenging to be eaten.. until the recent few weeks, i even have the same thing for my lunch too!! because thinking of what to eat among those few limited choices everyday, is rather annoying don't you think?? rather don't even have to think and just go for the oats, simple yet healthy, not a bad choice right?? and i had an extra wedge of pomelo today, i love pomelo, just love that "bursting effect" in the mouth, haha.. talking about pomelo and i think of orange, not that i do not like oranges but everytime i try to peel an orange, it will end up as a squashed orange!! that is why i rather not eat to avoid drenching (sexily) in orange juice!! haha.. i can't seem to be so "violent" right?? :D

    1. Good morning, SK, STP, HHBC and all.

      Happy Wednesday.

I like your breakfast SK. I also don't mind to have this for my breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am a health freak, this type of non oily, non fattening and non sweetening food is my kind of diet.

    2. Ohhhh??? Where's everybody? Cannot get first sip, merajuk dah...don't want to comment, is it? SK is a bit early today...not the usual 8.45 or later.

    5. Good morning, all! STP is early as usual, nobody wants to fight for the first sip anymore. I've lost my "first sip" mojo.

Drop by several minutes later and reply on top of other comments, add in mine and voila! I get some points for the day :)

Apparently when SK0617 has new post each day, I'm enjoying my breakfast. Wish to have such healthy oatmeal daily but usually end up eating sinful ones, like nasi lemak, yau char kwai or roti canai @.@

    7. Aiyor!!! No wonder so slim! I would love a good hearty breakfast but usually it would be just fried rice...using leftover rice in the fridge. If there is none, then I would look around to see what is available for me to cook.

    11. Good afternoon, everyone!

Talk about pomeloes, I used to buy a kind of citrus fruit something like pomelos - smaller than a pomelo but bigger than an orange. I don't see them around anymore. Those were really sweet and juicy.

Sinful breakfast for me, thank you..

      Delete
    12. Happy Surfer, you mean you like sinful breakfast. This is so different from SK. Luckily this round, I can hi 5 with SK already.

    13. I rarely have leftover rice at home. Always cook ngam-ngam for 3 peole consumption. Dun wan to over eat.

Summore, hubby is not the type who prefers leftovers to be kept. Masak pagi, tengahari & malam one, me. That is, if and when I cook lah. Makan at Mamak, the food from morning till night also like that. kekeke

    17. Lunch and dinner only, ok lah...most of the time, we also like that one...but at times, enough for the whole week one. Sometimes, I force myself to eat as much as possible...so cepat habis - then can have something else to eat. Maybe that's why I am so tua pui... Hehehehehehe!!!!!

  3. Go slow on those nuts! I've been eating almond biscotti with lots of almonds in it...and at night, I would feel some kind of pain around the toes - like an impending gout attack. They're very high on protein.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Nuts are one of the best plant sources of protein. They are rich in fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants such as Vitamin E and selenium. Nuts are also high in plant sterols and fat - but mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (omega 3 - the good fats) which have all been shown to lower LDL cholesterol.

I go google and find this.

      Delete
    2. True, we should take more nuts. I love nuts especially cashew nuts, hazel nuts and macadamia too.

A young man went to pick up his date at his house. While sitting and waiting, he saw a jar of nuts on the coffee table so he l=helped himself. He enjoyed himself so much that he finishes all of it.

Then the date's grandma came out and the guy apologised for eating all the nuts. The grandma replied, "It's ok, young man' I have no teeth so I just ate all the chocolate and put all the nuts into the jar."

      Nuts, anyone? LOL!!!

    8. Ah Hua you know why the Koreans look so nice with flawless skins? They eat a lot of citrus fruits and even use the skin to rub their hands and legs after peeling off. That was what I saw my male Korean room mate always do in US. I was shocked but believed their theory that it is better than use creams. His mother even used fruit skins to rub her face! His mother's face Macam porcelain plate so licin and berseri. In Korea, I was told do not have any facial saloons at all and everyone does their own home treatment. Here you can find a beauty facial shop in KL almost everywhere upstairs!

    12. I have googled and found its benefits.
      1. Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease
Consuming citrus fruits while maintaining a diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol can help prevent the onset of heart disease. Citrus fruits, because they are high in vitamin C, can help prevent the formation of oxidized LDL, or bad cholesterol.

      2. Healthy Bones, Ligaments and Muscles
Vitamin C aids in the formation of collagen, which is an important part of the connective tissues within the body. The synthesis of collagen will ultimately lend to stronger tendons, ligaments and muscles. Because citrus fruits are also high in calcium and vitamin D, they contribute to bone health as well.

      3. Eye Health
Due to its anti-oxidizing effect on the lens of the eye, vitamin C, as found in citrus fruits, helps prevent the formation of cataracts. Other antioxidants found in citrus fruits also help remove free radicals that may otherwise damage the retina.

      4.Improved Mood and Cognitive Function
Citrus foods are high in folate, an important part of serotonin production. Higher levels of serotonin lead to a better mood, increased happiness and more energy. Vitamin C and a nutrient-rich diet have also been shown to improve cognitive function in the elderly.

      5.Better Skin
Citrus fruits contain phytonutrients which act as antioxidants. These antioxidants remove free radicals that damage skin cells and cause the signs of aging. The ability of vitamin C to produce collagen also benefits the skin.

    3. Yan, Hi 5! Bananaz would add brown sugar and cream milk. Huh never thought of condense milk. Great idea from you & Wenn next time condense milk can replace both sugar & cream milk. tQ
