it was year 2005 that i was sent to Dubai for work by the company, three trips each as long as three weeks.. from the initial excitement (because i've never been to middle east before), to getting used to the place, and finally being numb of the place (especially the food), these trips to Dubai can be concluded as fun at work.. after many years not stepping foot onto this piece of miracle in the desert, i now kind of miss those days i have been staying there.. :)
  • OMG i was so young and so slim back then!! @#$%^&*
  • many mega-projects were still in progress back then, there was no world's tallest building Burj Khalifa yet, no Atlantis Hotel yet, no Palm Island yet..
  • i experienced the hottest weather in my life there, some said the temperature was as high as 52°C that day, staying outdoor feels just like trapped inside a baking oven..
  • i still remember the middle eastern meals i had, grill as long as meat and raw as long as veggie, and always scarily huge portions.. no wonder i started to get tired about food back then..

    2. You were indeed slim that time. May be that time you were still young and the metabolism rate was good.

Same here, when age is catching up, do a lot of exercise, also can witness significant weight loss. May be have to on diet as well.

    4. Ten years ago, I was fatter like a pig when I met my wife. I ate until I bloated and didn't liked how I looked in photos. Now SK is not fatter but seems muscular after joining the gym. My gym sessions also made me looked toned with harder limbs.

  14. Dubai! I always pester my hubby to bring me there because we have a close buddy working there - so accommodation is sort of "sorted out". Hehehe!

Our friend said that January - February is the sales season, so it's perfect for shopaholic like me. But when my walking ATM heard about it, he refused to bring me there, cis!

    1. That country is so rich, the people can buy gold through vending machine. Suddenly I feel so pathetic.... must do something to ubah this coming weekend!

    2. They are so rich, they earn 5-digit salary and their expenses is also very high. I heard the rental for a room there is almost RM10K per month!! Crazy!

Maybe I heard wrongly, must go clean my ear wax now.

      Delete
    3. I heard their salaries are very high, so naturally the rentals touch the skies. I prefer to earn lesser and live in Malaysia where the grass is greener and food is abundant.

  20. Eh! You went to sunat your kuku bird there kah? How come they allowed you to wear Thawb and turban? We should address you as Sheikh Shermano bin Laden.

  24. Dubai.

I never really have any interest in Dubai. yet. As most people talk sbout shopping there. So, that kinda kills the interest.

Malls - traditional maybe. Modern - yawn. :P

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'd visit the mosque and the traditional quarters though.

Thambee can help me be the guide or not?

      Delete
    2. The only shopping I tolerate are running gears for me and toys & games for my boys. ;)

      Delete
    3. I think Dubai has transformed into a modern and interesting place besides just on transit and shopping. I watched a documentary which showed the neat rows of posh ocean front homes with smiling tourists enjoying themselves! I thought it could be deceiving so I better check the truths with Ah boy.

  25. Thambee sure look handsome in the kandoura & bisht.

    xD

And smell like "kambing" due to eating a lot of it? kekeke

  38. The Hotel Burj Arab has become a big talk of the world and their financial crisis became a hot topic in news last year. I forgot which country in UAE region has helped them out of crisis.

  39. Your desert scenery brings me fond memories of the first time I saw desert in Southern California near Arizona. All orange like your photos and nice! Anay like!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am also wondering why you posed with the guard outside museum? You should have hugged or screwed the cannon from behind! LOL that would make lovelier photos.
