saw this sold in a convenience store the other day, those born in the 70s or 80s should remember this i believe?? i thought we won't see this anymore, hence i was rather intrigued out of a sudden, what could be the free toy inside the box now?? anyway it's just sold at RM0.90 a box, i still remember it was like RM0.60 a box 30 years ago, with the inflations (after inflations) all these years, that would be considered as cheap huh?? and so, i happily and curiously bought one box.. |

Good morning SK...
ReplyDeleteI remember this, if not wrong, is S$0.50 a box that time...
ReplyDeleteI remember a van will come along, that time, i was staying at my grandparents house, i will go get it...
ReplyDeleteGood morning, SK!! I'm the earliest HHBC member to greet you today :D :D
ReplyDeleteMeeting has been postponed to afternoon so I have ample of time to laze in the morning, opps!
Good Morning Ah Hua! You are so early today and gave me heart attack. I must go buy TOTO today for your auspicious appearance!!
DeleteEh! Today's topic is for young people only kah? I had no Ding Dang during my time. We had all sorts of Tikam-Tikam! Anay started gambling from young tearing out the pieces of Tikam-Tikam for goodies!
Good Morning Yvonne...
DeleteGood day Ah Hua....soli la I didnt blog hop the whole week. Manyak barang headache.
Deletewah...surprised you come here so early.
Today's topic not for "young people" rather old people like us la. Only od ones like us can remember it's chocolates inside leh
I remember Ding Dang! I love this snack and would always request my mom to get it for me whenever we visit grocery shop. And the answer I got was "NO", hahaha! T___T
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize this snack is still selling in store. I should drop a visit to those old-school kedai runcit to search for my childhood snack.
DeleteAh Hua,
DeleteBabu roti still sell these stuff. ^^
Where did they get this Ding Dang funny name from? I used to hear the famous old porno called "Ding Dong" for adults. That one got no sweets but excitements. LOL
DeleteLast time my school canteen sells this. Mostly I buy it's one friday coz friday school bus comes late. so got time to lepak at the school and canteen. That was in primary school lo.
DeleteNo wonder it is selling at RM0.90, the content gets shrink, LOL! But I'm disappointed to learn that the chocolate biscuits is replaced with sweet. How pathetic... they ought to retain their signature-round-cheapo chocolate balls~
ReplyDeleteWas it sold at RM0.60 back then? I thought it was RM0.50?
DeleteAnyway, kids nowadays are so spoiled they don't even bother to have Ding Dang chocolate anymore. They'll choose branded chocolate from the hypermarket.
Well time has changed and people get more innovative & competitive to create better products to make parents pay by luring the children!! The kids will see latest offers on TV and newspapers!
DeleteI love to see all the food, snacks and toys being made available for today's younger generations! Good ideas, hygienic, better quality and great tastes too. I never had such nice toys and snacks at my kiddo age but anay still survived lah. Ha ha!
DeleteI made toys myself from paper and the trees & padang was my playground! When pasar malam became a hit, my toys came from there! It was my Toys R' Us!
Deleteeh last time was rm0.50 la...even that also kira as mahal jor coz 50 sen we can buy one bowl of noodles in school. Now one bowl ofnoodles in school its already Rm1 plus or rm2
DeleteLast time, feel so luxurious if can buy this.
ReplyDeleteHahaha
Now, eh! What dinky & no class item. LOL
I always had to curi curi to buy nonsense tidbits and tikam-tikam before hiding it from my mum's fierce eyes!! I always habis my pocket money and my older brother would give me SOS money. How nice!
DeleteGood morning folks
ReplyDeleteYou really like Doraemon very much. So i know what to et for you next time.
ReplyDeleteHahaha a Doraemon cake!
Deleteyeap RM0.60cents in 30years back. So you are still very young.
ReplyDeleteSame like my time leh.. I still remember tikam tikam, Ding Dang, Mamee, Chickadee. Miss last time ice cream too - ice cream potong in red bean and durian flavour, sprinkle with peanuts on top.
Deleteyou lupa say O-yah leh...that one also very nice leh....but very salty :p
DeleteMy time was ice cream potong 20 sen punya....put in long plastic :p
Ding Dong is kira "luxury" item back then lo
A few weeks ago, I did got a box for my son too. I told him proudly inside got surprise as he always love surprises.
ReplyDeleteSee see inside those popeye sweets really disappointed lor. I would prefer it is the choco balls like last time.
DeleteMiss those old days when we were young.
DeleteAt least you got a yoyo... hehehe
ReplyDeleteIt seems like a broken yoyo.
DeleteYoyo broken coz SK too ganas :p....joking only
Deleteeh rememeber or not last time nearly everyone had a yoyo and then can do alot of action punya...got the walking the puppy la, the swing la and a lot more moves. There was even yoyo competition.
hmmm jgn jgn SK join yoyo competition kot?
So SK Ah Boy, are you happy with that Ding Dang? Want to buy more next time?
ReplyDeleteI think you better buy kinder joy "surprise egg" cost about rm4.50 one. Got toy and good quality yummy chocolate..
DeleteRM0.90cents to compare with RM4.50... which quality is better?
DeleteNowadays, if you want better quality,we have to pay more.
Even toys RM10 one you can only play one time - broken. The kids not even to bother to play anymore, so bored with it.
DeleteUnlike Lego, Transformers, Ben10, Kamen Rider, Fisher Price toys - costing me hundreds of dollars.
true, those toys are usually made in China. Very cheap but won't last long.
Deletehahaha.....now here i can brag my side the Kinder Joy is cheaper...It's around RM3.50. Not sure how much is Ding Dong .
DeleteLucky the boy have not discover Ding Dong so I jiat a bit la
Good morning SK and everyone here!
ReplyDeleteIt's mid week now! 2 more days to weekend! Woohoo!
Yea I definitely remember this! Used to buy very often when I was a kid, there was this old time convenient store just few shops next to my house! Cannot remember the price but it was way cheap that time!
DeleteAnd the things inside are so cool back then! Now, like you said, I am sure its a great disappointment. Things are getting expensive, so I am sure the stuff inside won't be as good as last time already.
DeleteSo I am not surprise that you were disappointed la! Anyway, old stuff is still the best huh? We don't get what we got last time, but at least we got a good memory in our mind, right? Those were the days.......
DeleteThe candies inside, you can eat... But what about the yoyo? I think you're too old to play with it already, haha! May be can give to some kids you know?
DeleteI used to buy lots of toys for my kids. But they were all thrown or given away.
DeleteI used to buy this too but now i forgot the toy that i got from it...can recall slight toy with rubber bad and swings ones....something like lastik. The rest I cant recall. But only vivid memory is using the box as a whistle/trumpet
Deletehahaha...broke into halves ? I can't stop laughing after reading this sentences.
ReplyDeletehmm...thought it was chocolates, but now, changed to sweets.....i would prefer chocolates
DeleteWhat u say is right. I dun think kids nowadays will even give a look at this box which were our treasures many years ago.
DeleteIt depends. Some kids would be amazed with tiny stuff.
DeleteRecently, i found the bubble which in a tube and u need to blow with a mini straw-like stick. Only 10 cents n the kids were so happy.
Delete90 cents for this box is quite pricey considering the quality of the item included. hmm.......
DeleteLOL.....ya lor...nowadays kids also know quality. Lauyar things they wont like.
DeleteThey are taking advantage of the human psyche, primarily the emotional aspect. There is this element of surprise and excitement as to the unknown inside the box. You, my dear, fell for it but what can I say! You are normal. haha..
ReplyDeleteGood morning, SK and all! I might have seen this kind before. But not now. We don't sell it. What's that? A small yoyo? Maybe it's just meant for small kids with small fingers. :)
ReplyDeleteMost toys won't last long. My customers used to complain that their kids usually take a day to play any new toys! Then they are broken!
Deletehahaha i do agree with that. I dont know whether J ganas or what la ...even those so call "branded " toys, also can rosak within a week leh. If this yoyo sure la within a day kaput jor
DeleteYa, used to buy for my girl when she was small...for the gifts inside.
ReplyDeleteLuckily you shared here, I will ban this type of snack. I am not going to buy this for my girls. What a waste of RM090 eh!
ReplyDeleteI was attracted by this once when I was young. After that, I felt cheated, and I never buy it again.
I think SK was attracted by the box package because of it has Doraemon.
DeleteTell you what, RM0.90, I will buy go buying Twisties or Charlie Chickedee or O cheese ring. Hehehehe! I am very stingy with my money.
DeleteThis Mak Yannie is a very wise and smart modern mum. You know what's best for your kids! You not stingy to spend when necessary. Look at the Kidszania for good example.
DeleteWah lau eh! Today Anay flattered me sky high. It must be a good day for me eh!
DeleteWhen they were still toddler, I spent a bit of money on toys. Now, I spend on buying books. Luckily my two girls value books more than toys at this stage. I am a very blessed mom.
DeleteI just had lunch with my accountant and told him that I often heard horror stories from my wife about how her students' parents brought them up. They spent money in most sinful ways and their families also got wrecked with rotten kids & broken marriages.
DeleteMy conclusion: They have NO WISDOM!!!!
Hot Mama has much Wisdom and knows how to make the best out of every dollar spent. I must also learn to shop my underwears and clothes online!
DeleteWomen over forty will lose out to Sweet Young Things for most of the assets that they possess, except WISDOM.
DeleteGood for yannie. Wise spender. Even small already can feel cheat. Me simple mind last time syok syok buy hahaha
Deletelast time got O Cheese ring ka your place there? Mine dont have...we have this similar one call O Ya. It was 20 sen a packet i think...but each time i eat too much always get sore throat
Kidzania is educational....good mah. Better than junk food like this
Yes!! I remember this pretty well.. but couldn't remember how much that was..
ReplyDeleteHaha!! No wonder only 90 sen. Kena conned! : D
ReplyDeleteyou remember the ad?
ReplyDeleteDing Dang datang lagi!!!!
Those cheapo ads with Mat Sentul. :-D
Now what for look for ding dang toys?
ReplyDeleteUpgrade dy.
Now my son wants kinder bueno. Aduiiii
Kinder bueno sedap lagi...
Deletehaha we used to have those kinds of items here too,
ReplyDeleteugly toys and small candies but yet for some
reason we still buy it
haha anyway i wasn't even born those times haha
ReplyDeletehmm in our time those candies with some random cards
were in demand
we also have those egg thingy which has
ReplyDeletecandies and small toys inside too, it seems like
a soda machine but instead of soda egg will be dropping
well those days playing is such a great thing to cherish
ReplyDeleteunlike nowadays kids rather play games online than
play toys
anyway i thought it was some sort of
ReplyDeletedoraemon item haha the illustration seems
like doraemon but uglier version haha
have a great and god blessed day sk
ReplyDeletetake care always and happy blogging
SWEETS? Such a disappointment! Ding Dang used to be chocolates right? Haiz..
ReplyDeleteit has been so long i did not buy this ding dang toys after my primary school end~ XD
ReplyDeleteuiks moe kau chor....no more the bulat bulat chocolate jor ah??/ No la...I dont like that chocolate ..coz of the middle white biscuit always "lau fung"(Masuk angin?) but am still very surprised lor at replacement.
ReplyDeletewhat fruit slices? is it like asamboi type?
Those toys so lauyar one. Like this cannot simply give to kids to play leh. Dangerous. Coz read somewhere the sometimes the plastic used are poisonous.
Hmmm....i wonder whether you all did or not but when i was schooling, we bought this la...after eating the choc, the box we dont throw. We use as "trumpet. Blow the box and got the "pit pit" sound.
Also you remember the rund round buble gum? also small box. we also used that and blow LOL
alamak...my four eyes...not sfruit slice...gula gula ah....3 gula gual only cost 20 sen mah......
Delete算吧啦,今時今日人都會變節更何況喺呢啲零食呀!
ReplyDeletehehehe that's cute.. it's like toy easter eggs which you can't tell what toy or candies are placed inside
ReplyDeletenot bad. at least you got a small yoyo hehe
ReplyDeleteI remember this, my mom always used to buy this for me on the way back from my kindergarten!!!
ReplyDeleteMoreover kids nowadays, don't want to play toys anymore, they'll request iPhone, iPad lol!!!
DeleteThere are too many choices for kids nowadays, I think only us who want the nostalgia feeling buy this, haha!
ReplyDelete
