after i have published the prelude to my tokyo travelogue the other day, some readers commented "why are the photos so small?? is that all for tokyo??!!".. i need to stress again that it was just a prelude, hence i think it make sense to put the photos into collage and write more general things about the trip.. so, everyone wants huge photos and more stories?? then i'm not going to talk more here, just choose your language and then click on the photo above to see the full set of photos taken in tokyo and let them do the storytelling.. please be informed that i am not a travel blogger and have tried my best to blog about this trip in more detail, so don't blame me for the crappy posts, haha!! anyway, this is part one of the travelogue and i hope you'll enjoy reading it.. :)

dont knwo is it my browser problem or what i cannot view the full photo...it got "cut off at the right hand side.

hence your photo A narration becomes "after more than 7 hours of flight, arrived at tokyo haneda airport finally.. compared to nar" followed by "airport, haneda airport has less international flight thus can get through immigration quick"... you know what i mean?

    5. hahaha, ya leh, learning and trying my best to write proper travelogue lah.. the usual me will just write one post "gao dim" haha!!

very true, i am actually fine with anything, tatami hotel is one kind of experience and i don't mind if we go for capsule hotels too.. yes, they provide free WiFi in the room, so nice, at least i don't have internet access outside, going back to hotel and i can follow the latest news on GE13 :p

yalor, i love their snacks and bakeries.. one main reason is that, they are just the right sweetness, unlike things over here, 死甜 and no taste at all.. and their dairy products also nice, i had them everyday there.. so miss them now!! haha..

yalah, fing-fing travels for free, so why not bring him along?? hmmmm, Y&Y Sistaz must be busy with the new office huh??

Now I take note to fly to Haneda Airport instead. I need to get the radiation-free clearance first.

    1. But China has less restriction to apply for visa than Japan. Unless of course for rich people like Anay. LOL

    2. Harlow who is rich?? I am damn poor this month, my bank is Zero.

China Embassy charges a high fee for Visa and this year they follow Japan's style requiring for proofs of air ticket & hotel bookings!! I am sure they will ask for bank statements soon. I never heard of Malaysians working illegally in China. Got meh?

    3. Anay, they started during the Beijing Olympics dy...

China government doesn't want riff-raff to ruin more their country and make havoc there. I think they are looking unfavourably at backapacker more since they want to know where you;re staying also. No? ;p

Anyway, 2 years didn't go apply China Visa. Dunno latest requirement. hehehe ^^

      Delete
    4. I read internet websites that they started to be strict this year in 2013. When I went to China in the last 2 years, it was easy to apply. Perhaps they selected random applicants in the past but this year, they notified everyone on the spot. They read tru and circled the days & hotel venues.

      Delete
    5. my last visit to China was like 6 years ago, very easy just pay RM30 to the travel agent and got the visa the next day already.. hmmm, is China restricting people from entering into their country?? i guess Japan has kind of relaxed due to the slowing economy recently.. that was why i was given a multiple entries visa valid for a year~~ hehehe, must plan another trip before it expires~~

    2. hahaha, indeed that was a budget hotel, looked old and very last-century right?? but it was a good experience with tatami hotel, shared bath and public bath lah.. hmmm, maybe Tokyo is more expensive and Anay has booked hotel months before at promo price?? my heart is so unbalanced now, Anay went to Japan for 6 days and spent less than i did~~ hahaha!!

  33. I agree that the hotel was located in strategic location with much amenities. They seem to have Family Marts everywhere in Japan. I bought many snacks, junk food and water from there everyday.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yes, it's just across the road from one big train station connecting to the rail and metro and the shinkansen (according to Lina, haha!!).. there's a Family Mart just opposite the alley, which i bought the snacks and water.. and ramen shops next door, very convenient really..

  34. Vending machines seem to be part of their lives! They have many corners inside shopping centres where they have hundreds of vending machines inside a room!! They could be selling toys or food or ladies stuffs.

  35. LOL....Yeah eating alone is pitiful like a spinster or widow over here! I used to suffer eating alone here and preferred to ta pau la.

The space is so expensive in Tokyo and you see so many types of cubicles in restaurants and sleeping areas! I slept in one hotel which my room's bathroom was like 4 feet X 3.5 feet X 6.5 feet (height)!!! Never again.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. definitely!! when you are alone in KL, you won't really feel like eating out, people will look at you in a weird way as if you have no friends and no family..

hey, anay, that is a good experience lah.. in fact we wanted to try the capsule hotel, to experience how it is to sleep inside that little space.. 4 feet X 3.5 feet X 6.5 feet bathroom?? hahahaha, big enough to shower lah~~ :D

  36. True that Haneda has less traffic thus less queueing. Just like flying into Frisco for instance instead of LA when visiting the US.

That's a very good rate for a Japanese hotel.

Though the welcome info may be a nice touch, I think in this day and time, this doesn't augur well for the security of guests. I'd rather the hotel doesn't do that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Happy have been to Tokyo many times already?? hmmm, you should share your experience.. well, i really won't called that a hotel, it's just a very small inn i'd say.. converted from a very old residential building, i can even hear the guy in the next room snoring!! hahahaha~~

      Delete
  37. The vending machine is very useful though the concern could be not WYSIWYG. Maybe in Japan, this is not an issue.

That bowl of ramen sure looks good and at a good price too as opposed to the higher price we are paying here for ramen. Tsk! They even employ psychology to encourage people not to waste food. Very clever!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hahaha, i think their vending machines are quite reliable and trustworthy.. unlike over here, you press for a can of coke, but it came out a can of fanta, that's lucky considered.. probably the can of drinks got stuck and you got the machine to tell you out of order!! hahaha~~

  38. Awww... fing2 had to tag along because he can't fall asleep without you? Or is it the other way around? LOL

Thanks for the tour and brought to us in such a sophisticated format. Looking forward to the next installment.

    1. Even at McD we won't get WYSIWYG.

I don't mind hotel printing my name like that since I don't have any stalker, don't have affairs and no Ah Long chasing me. I look at it as a gesture to make the hotel easier to find for foreign guests. Finding places in Tokyo may not be easy. Heck, it is not easy!

Also I feel Haneda is less congested than Narita. But both are still super duper efficiently run.

      Delete
    2. hahaha, of course have to bring fing-fing since he can fly for free!! now everyone can fly~~ :D

oh yeah, there is nothing called WYSIWYG in fast food chain nowadays.. so long as what you ordered is right and edible, that's it, we never bother to compare the real thing and the picture on the billboard.. oh yeah, the airport is definitely super duper jumbo mumbo efficiently run!! malaysia cannot compare lah~~

Yan, seriously.. now it's a good time to visit Japan since Yen is relatively cheaper now.. it's dropped even lower than the rate i exchanged my money last month.. it's a good experience to be able to see the unique culture of the Japanese.. don't put your mattress on the floor lah, take action and book a holiday to Japan and then sleep in real tatami room!! haha..

no lah, paisah to handcarry fing-fing.. i put him into the luggage and got him checked-in!! hahaha, how bad right?? :p

  44. Vendor machines are everywhere. Very convenient. Those ramen vendor machine is very efficient. Do not to print menu, do not need to hire so many worker. We just pick and pay. With a receipt shown to the shop, they will prepare the ramen for us.

    1. yeah, i think it's a good idea.. many places just have two persons manning the shop, people just purchase from the vending machine (there saves one waiter and one cashier), pass the coupon to the waiter, another one prepares that at the kitchen, then served.. cost-saving model, i like..
