17.10.2012 | 我愛嗎咪

[Volume 7 Issue 10, #1570]
mamee is still one of my favorite snacks after so many years, i used to buy that from supermarket once in a while, and i only like the chicken flavor.. i still remember it was prohibited in both the school and at home, hence sometimes after school, i would buy one packet and try to finish it on the way home, or rather hide it in my schoolbag and smuggled home, so that i can secretly enjoy it in my room, haha!! compared to the good old days, besides the price is increased, i guess it has also at least shrunk for like 30-40% (compare to my thumb and you know how small it is now), that was why one packet is enough to satisfy back then.. of course now that i still control myself to have only one at a time, can't risk getting too fat because of it right?? hehe.. dear readers, this is not a sponsored post but i would like to know who among you are still eating "mamee" now?? give me a high-five!! :D

      Happy Wednesday.

Mamee, I stole a bit here and there from my kids when they eating it.

      Delete
    4. We parents always do that as we can steal our kids' mamee. A taste of the mamee is good enough for us. We don't need to consume the whole packet which is unhealthy for us.

    7. Good day everyone.

I love Mameeeeee....still remember the mamee monster commercial in the TV donkey years ago.

Last time was 20 or 30 cents a packet. Now not sure how much...50cents?

      Delete
    8. No la, meow, it's still 30 cents per packet. But the size of the noodle is smaller, just like how SK illustrated above. Now really can copy that Mamee Monster - satu kali masuk mulut! LOL~

    9. Eyewwww!!!! Junkies, all of you! How can anyone like that, I wonder? I thought it's to bluff unsuspecting little kids only....

    1. Eyewwwwwww!!!!! What retarded taste buds you young people have! All artificial flavourings, all chemical preservatives... I wonder how many of the mums around would let their kids eat that...

Everything also have chemicals la. Even the vegetables we eat.

    2. I think smoking is much MORE HARMFUL than eating this MAMEE!!!! So it is even safer to eat one packet a day than smoke one cigarette a day!!

      Delete
    3. true, if one smoke a lot, I would recommend him/her a cigarette. In this way, mamee is considered better than the cigarette.

      Delete
    4. Oh, smoking is unhealthy. And with combination of MSG coated food, that's double unhealthy :)

I love Mamee snack, always have a huge pack stashed somewhere at home but I seldom let my kids eat.

      Delete
    5. yes, buying the whole packet is so much cheaper and it can be kept too.

      Delete
    6. I love mamee snack when i was young.

Now Mamee also very pandai liao la. They no longer put the packet of powder in the packet. if buy big packet, they put it outside. So the parents cangive the kids makan noodles only without the packet of powder lo

Ya buy whole packet is cheaper.

      Delete
    7. I also don't put the powder. But funny I always buy BBQ flavour one. Somehow I feel the noodle tasted different for BBQ and Chicken flavour. Haha, maybe it's just me :p

      Delete
    8. Huh? Without the flavourings, the noodle inside where got taste leh? What do they do with the flavourings then? Throw away? Aiyor...so wasteful. That one, noodles 10 sen, flavourings 20 sen....just thrown away like that.

      Delete
    9. How you know got no taste one? Ha! Caught you! Mesti ada makan lah! Otherwise sure dunno how it taste like! kekeke

      Delete
    10. Got try before...when my daughter bought from school - must be attracted by the ads on her kiddie shows. Ptui! Ptui!!! Spat it all out...not nice at all.

  7. Morning! Morning! Morning!

    It's Wednesday already!

And we're talking about one of the snacks we always keep stock in the house. Mameee. *in Mamee monster voice*
    LOL

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Keep stock in the house? Goodness gracious me! I simply can't understand people - I add a pinch of msg in my cooking and they all come and slam me for that....and here, everyone goes and eats this - with the msg berguni-guni ditambah.

      Delete
    2. hahaha that is my favourite kid snack..
but now i seldom buy mamee already...

      Delete
    3. I suppose most kids love mamee as I can see what my young customers buy. Now it cost 30 sen per packet. Not cheap though.

      Delete
    4. Good morning boys and gals! Happy Wednesday and Happy Mamee Day! Go get yourself one packet as a treat.

      Delete
    5. Come to my shop and I can offer you a few packets of mamee. They are super cheap compared to a can of drinks.

      Delete
    6. Oh, at least a pack of mamee is better than a can of carbonated drink! Don't you think so?

Anyway, compare to cheezal or super ring or those cheese-snack like, mamee has less colouring and not that salty.

I prefer to let my kids taste with mamee to other junk food. I guess once a while with mamee is ok :)

      Delete
    7. Just eat the mamee as it is would be better than pouring the flavor onto it.

      Delete
    8. Agree with Yvonne.

Mamee I think is not as bad as the other junk food.

Cannot totally ban junk food lah. Total ban sometimes only lead for unhealthier choices because when you are depriving yourself of something, it can lead you to binging on it once your resolve is broken.

Moderation is the key. Our pack of Mamee can last for months one. It's not like everyday eat Mamee. Sometimes, when terasa mau makan, makan lo. Otherwise, it sits in the kitchen lo. OK what.

      Delete
    9. I long time did not eat the mamee already, Lina. Only last year a friend gave a packet for J, then i gedik gedik here and there hahaha...

Then J pandai liao ask to buy mamee. But tarak put the powder for him la.

Now they dont put the powder in the packet mah...so j dont know there is powder.

      He just likes the crunchiness

      Delete
    10. Like eating rice without any lauk...

      Delete
    11. Agree, Lina. Cannot totally ban otherwise SK's doppelganger will be created - buy the snack, have it before reaching home or sneakily eat it in the bedroom / toilet / storeroom.

Meow, my kids also don't know that Mamee is eaten with powder. I didn't show it to them :D But last time I ate with powder @.@ No wonder I have thin hair~

    12. Wait till they go to school and buy their own...and they will discover what you have been doing to them, all these years and they would feel sooooo cheated. Poor things!

      Delete
    2. I don't put any flavour..
just the original taste .. but what I like about mamee is the sticker that come along with the mee

      Delete
    3. My kids love them but I don't. They even pour those flavors onto the mamee. I guess it's not good. I would just buy one or two for them. Anyway, I always discourage them from eating mamee as it's considered junk food.

      Delete
    4. STP it is okay to run and feast on Mameeeeeee snacks. At least Lina doesn't smoke after finished running like many runners I know.

      Delete
    5. Er, Lina is not health freak, she's only crazy over running and books. So, what's wrong with her having her favourite snack occasionally?

Eat a little bit of junk here and there, it doesn't do much harm to the body and our life would be more happy, well, at least for me :)

      Delete
    6. true, if we exercise, there's not much harm in taking a few packets of mamee as sweating itself already detoxify the body.

      Delete
    7. Ya ya ya...
me no health freak one. No diet also.
Wallop anything. That's why have to exercise a lot.
So I can makan anything I want and not get any fatter. Cannot slim down though. ;p

      Delete
    8. me too go for chicken...i dont like curry flavour

Uiks...the sticker thing is old time got mah..now still have ka?, SP

Occassionally eat snack okay one lah.

See, SK also gym freak but he also got eat snack mah.

True what Wenn had said. All the sweating , the toxin all gone already la. moreover she drinks a lot of water.

if betul betul diet , itu cannot eat that cannot eat already lor...even air also cannot breath la.

    9. What chicken? What curry? Chemicals!!! Artificial flavourings!

      Delete
    10. Meow, now still have the sticker. You don't buy the big packet one. Go to grocery shops and get the loose pack. Sure got sticker inside, sometimes it's Mamee Monster, sometimes it's Doraemon :D

      Delete
    7. STP, you should also go and take a nap. Otherwise, when your friend wakes up with all batteries fully recharged. You will be all worn out by sitting here and spamming for too long. So, you better go and have a nap. Later you still need to have some energy to entertain your friend.

      Delete
    8. I had my nap already. My nap very short one... Already recharged...ready to roll!!! LOL!!! If sleep too long, groggy and very grumpy.

    1. Yes, my kids would put mamee in their traveling bags too. Just to enjoy while traveling. But isn't it too salty or dry? I would rather take potato chips than mamee.

      Delete
    2. Wenn, if dont put the powder in the mamee wont be too salty la. Yes, it is more fun to have mamee when on a trip.

Fun mah...even now school trip or anything , kids will bring mamee or twisties and stuffs like that

    2. Anyone here put mamee into laksa soup? Hehe, my hubby loves this!

      Delete
    3. My favourite isn't mamee, my favourite is Pringles, hehe.. But quite salty and very addictive!

      Delete
    4. My favorite snack is Indian muruku and kacang putih.

      Delete
    5. Laksa? Wah...next time we can try.....must be nice coz the noodles are crunchy and the laksa soup...oh so nice!

      Delete
    6. mamee in laksa also sounds like the instant cup mee.

      Delete
    7. LOL! Yes, wenn, I prefer to have instant noodle that way. Mamee is best eaten on its own!

Actually I prefer twisties to mamee, but since twisties is more salty I resort to mamee as replacement.

      Delete
    8. twisties is definitely saltier than mamee. So if one wants a snack, take mamee instead but without the flavoring.

      Delete
    9. my favourite was "Oh Ya". But donkey years never eat jor. only ate during primary school.

But now i eat is the instant noodle mamee la. I like the Tomyam and asam laksa taste. Prefer mamee brand than maggi

Ya i used to be gila with twisties too , Yvonne but then a lot of the yellow powder come out...very messy so i like makan mamee better lor.

How do you eat your mamee? Last time i like to pecah it till small bits and then pour powder into it shake shake and eat.

My son prefered bite like biscuit kakaka...he takes without the powder coz he dont know about the powder.

seldom let him eat that. not because its not good but coz i lazy sweep floor leh...each time he eat sure drop all over the floor.

      Delete
    10. Must buy and take photo of the noodles WITH the powder and then post on your wall on Facebook...and then J can see and ask for it. Hehehehehehe!!!!

      Delete
    11. I like tomyam and asam laksa instant noodle. Dislike chicken soup type. The noodle for Mamee brand is not that soggy, whereas Maggi one is quite lembik, feel geli after consume much.

Haha, the way meow eat her mamee is to pecah till small bits, like how my son loves it now. I will crush my mamee first but not till small bits la. Small small cannot feel, LOL!

      Delete
    12. Yalor...where got nice if so teeny-weeny!!! LOL!!!

      Delete
    13. i like to crush mine too....and add some powder. Taste really nice with the powder. But once a while ok la.....

  26. Oh yes, I'm a Mamee fan too! Used to take some time pondering how I should eat it, whether I should break it into pieces or eat it whole, like a biscuit. Haha.. those were the times. Obviously I can't get them from here now, unless you want to post some over to me! :P

  27. I have my mom send a care package full of Mamee and all sorts of noodles from home once in a while. She said that it costs more to send it to me than it was to pay for the contents of the package LOL! Oh, just thinking about it right now is making me have some serious cravings!
