11.10.2012 | 防盜措施

[Volume 7 Issue 10, #1564]
that pretty photo above is my grocery bag being "sealed" by the security guard at the entrance of carrefour MV just now.. i really get caught between two extreme responses, angry or laugh?? angry is because every customers are being "security checked" at the entrance, as if all customers are going into the hypermarket to steal things, perceiving customers as villains, this is very disrespectful!! laugh is because the so-called strong "anti-theft system", simply two pathetic pieces of plastic tapes to "seal" all the bags is called highly secured and perfectly effective?? if we were really to steal, can two pieces of tapes stop us then?? i think no other places are implementing such "awesome" security system, frankly i think this is so redundant.. first, see all customers as shoplifters, this not trusting the customers is rejecting customers.. second, waste of human and material resources, why not use them on other more meaningful purposes?? i really have no clue why this is implemented, can somebody please convince me on that?? @_@"

    11. Good morning, everyone!

I remember Makro did not allow handbags or big bags in there. They have closed shop.

And then there's one new branch of a hypermarket that did not allow bags too but has since rescinded that policy.

      Delete
    12. If they are checking for explosives in the bag, then it is understandable. Those clips are a laugh, really. But then again, they may not have a bigger bag to seal in your nice big bag.

    1. STP, I am about to tell SK. I have got my prize. Why the prize reached Sibu earlier than Taiping? How come? This poslaju makes me angry la!

I checked with my husband, he didn't see my prize also.

      Delete
    2. He used pos lambat lah, registered mail...did not use poslaju. Sibu people more cekap dan amanah than Taiping people mah... Muahahahahaha!!!! Or maybe all mails to Taiping will go (BY LAND) to Ipoh first - so slow a bit. To Sibu, they send BY AIR direct to Sibu...so faster lor. Hehehehehehe!!!!!

    3. happy le you all..
got SK prize? so STP got the virgin prize from SK huh.. so what you going to do with it?

      Delete
    4. Mak Yannie, so you got your present or not?? suddenly say you got, suddenly say jin jin didn't see~~

eih, i think the normal registered mail is good enough, so far serving good with all the presents i sent out.. still next day delivery also for meow's case (we same region mah).. i had bad experience with poslaju or pos ekspress lah, they are even slower took one week to deliver!! might as well just use the normal registered lah..

      Delete
    5. I still haven't got the prize. Sorry la! Typo error. Registered mail good, may be I will get it today. I must ask jin jin to stand by at home.

      Delete
    6. Register mail is good enough la STP. Poslaju manyak mahal leh.

Laju laju but tak tepat also no use.

Yan, so long jor wor...i received it earlier leh. I think SK said can track right? Hopefully Kaldip did not curi your prize la

If curi...SK have to go shopping and buy some more lo

    7. Not virgin lah...already once before...this one, second time....and hopefully, there will be more! Wink! Wink! Muahahahahaha!!!!

Yalor...registered ok also but Sibu, must be at home to receive or else have to go to the other side of town to collect, far far away...I also don't know where. Cannot go to the GPO like before.

Yan's prize...already lost in space lah... Muahahahaha!!!!

      Delete
    8. Yan prize received already la today.

    9. Not get. Received notice only, hubby will have to go and collect today. Lucky thing I was home to receive - our new office for registered mail other side of town...dunno where also. I would not know how to go and collect.

  4. They've been doing that at Carrefour MV for a long time already... Last time, worse... They simply twisted every thing and sealed with those long plastic strips...and when you checked out of the place, you would have to get the cashier to cut them off...and you bags would all be badly wrinkled. Just get people to deposit the bags at the counter lor like that... No need to spoil people's bags.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh yeah i noticed they have "improved" perhaps too many customers complained.. last time they even personal bags they want to tie the plastic strips at the zip also!! and then ask you to put your shopping bags into their plastic bags and seal everything.. now they are more "relax" lah, just use the plastic tapes only..

      Delete
    2. nope, i dont agree "Just get people to deposit the bags at the counter lor like that... No need to spoil people's bags" coz dangerous also . They put sign say they will not be resposible if anything lost. Macam mana like that. What if things got lost? My bag got camera , purse and what not wor. Hilang who ganti?

The one i dont like the most is Giant at K.Trengganu. That one the security guard really like " holding chicken feather, think it as sacre arrow"(ling zhi kai moe thong ling jin) .

J baby that time i carry his milk and diaper everywhere. Like that also dont let me bring in. Ask to deposit in counter. WOi...u know babyl lah. halfway vomit how? want me to run all the way to the customer service counter get the bag and take wet tissue and what not to clean him up ah?

      Delete
    3. The one in Endah parade seri petaling , the guards are better.

at least if bring all that, they use the plastic tie and tie the zipper of the hand bag or the computer bag. Not use plastic then bungkus then tie which makes it impossible to carry. forced to put into the trolley which also dangerous coz people may take that from your trolley when your head is turned for a moment.

all this ah...really sometimes never take into consideration of the customer punya problem. If they so scared things get stolen the tag everything la. Make the security beeper goes off every time people passby la

sometimes makes me think whether is it the rules and regulation or is it the guards pandai pandai impose

      Delete
    4. Giant hypermarket in Kemaman lagi best.

Everywherehyper market is encouraging people to bring their own plastic bag and shopping bags . Not only on saturday.

But that particular hypermarket, only allow people bring own bag ON SATURDAY.

My friend brought shopping bags to fill her groceries mah. Then the En Guard don't let her in. Say it is only for Saturday. She was so angry. Told me. I write in to their main office. No reply from them. Commented in their facebook also no reply.

At least if Tesco, they will reply to customer feedback.

This happen last year la. Now i dont know whether they still does that or not.

      Delete
    5. So far never encountered any experience like SK's in Tesco or Giant here. I bring along my recycle bags and sling bag, the guard doesn't bother to stop me.

I remember during the initial opening of Tesco, the guards were quite strict. They scouted patrons with hand-carry plastic/paper bag from other outlets and they would seal them with their own plastic bag.

But you know le, Taiping town is so small, people here usually don't carry much thing around. Perhaps Taiping folks are lazy, hahaha! Buy, dump in the car, and go shopping again.

      Delete
    6. Here, I think only at Supersave - cheap made-in-China stuff...who wants to steal? Me lagi worse - got camera, got all my bank passbooks...everything, just throw in the bag. If lost, how? Tsk! Tsk!

      Delete
    7. Meow,
Giant ke Cold Storage ke TMC ke (all same management mah) same saja. You complain macam mana pun, they won't bother to reply let alone take not lah. Malaysian mari mah....

      Delete
    8. Giant, I thought is connected to Parkson? Cold Storage kah? Here got Giant only - two one hypermart, one supermart...

      Delete
    9. Good la, Yvonne. Over there more relax. But kemaman also small town what

That is my point la STP. Ask to put in the customer service. But if hilang how? They say they are not responsible. But if put into car also not safe.

Lina, entah la...But if Tesco i complaint they got respond la

Sometimes these company makes me geram i go spam their FB. I use fake id to spam them and kns them kau kau

      Delete
    10. Facebook how to have fake id? You open new account use fake name, is it? Wah!!! You memang so free, can do all these things. LOL!!!

      Delete
  5. They seal like that, what for4? Can still steal the small stuff and slip in through the open sides leh? Really no brainer...or they make so much money they do not mind if you steal the cheaper small items.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yalor, that's why!!! i really cannot understand!! purposely hire two guards to do that at the entrance.. haiz!!

      Delete
    2. Ya lor...really boh kang jor.

They have too much money gua.

Some stuffs in C4, i noticed is more expensive than others hypermarket. That is why i seldom go to C4 if I can help it.

Usually i go to tesco. Tesco not really very cheap la but ok lo their product and price. Then the place also nice to walk. spacious.

Giant over here makes me feel very clutter. Floor around the meat area always wet.

      Delete
    3. Too much security will really put off some customers.

      Delete
    4. I agree with Wenn. Like what SK said...like they are showing they dont trust the customer. I know la memang they dont trust customers and they have the right to do so but dont show it till like written on their face la.

      Delete
    5. And the security guards think they are Adolph Hitler or who...so fierce, so unfriendly one... A little learning is a dangerous thing - these people not enough schooling...like that lah!

      Delete
    6. No la STP. They like gila kuasa or what la. Some security guard are okay. When i tell them my bag got camera they will kasi masuk. some S-hole will insist me put in the customer service pigeon hole. Betul betul kns

      Delete
    7. Same lah...never mind what job, what profession. There are good ones and there are lousy ones. Sometimes, talk nice, nice to them, they will be nice nice in return. PR very important.

      Delete
  6. Mydin is doing the same by using plastic strip to tie the opening of the bag. I dont like that

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Wah.....so early u r shopping in C? Buy breakfast before work?

      Delete
    2. The long plastic strips? I hated that too... Would go elsewhere - not that they are the only people selling those things. Tsk! Tsk!

      Delete
    3. oh, i have not been to Mydin before, but i think there are more foreign workers going there.. hehehehe, sorry i didn't mean you lah, hahaha!! i think this is very bad lah, perceiving all customers are going to shoplift like that..

      Delete
    4. Mydin got use plastic strips meh? I thought all barang have to deposit at the counter?

Kena one time before all barang have to deposit at counter so i did not bother to go there at all anymore.

I just feel uncomfortable to put barang at counter. If missing or something they say they are not responsible. Manyak ssah lor if like that. make police report and all that.

      Delete
    5. In fact, Mydin uses up too many plastic bags. Every stuff that we bought have to be weighed and put in plastics. I'm referring to the vegetables, fruits and even fish.

      Delete
    6. not only Mydin. Other hypermarket also.

I dont really like shopping at mydin for some reason

      Delete
    7. Somehow I get the feeling it is like those cheap shops selling made-in-China stuff one..buy today, spoil tomorrow one.

      Delete
    8. I hate going to Mydin. Feels like I'm treated like a potential thief before I step into their kedai.

SOme more staff all not very friendly.

Go Kamdar better. Kamdar got efficient staff. Some fierce but can do their job properly.

      Go Mydin, Bangla ramai. huhuhu

      Delete
    9. Been to Kamdar, ok. I loved Globe Silk Store...used to be their regular customer - their shirts, got MY size....and could browse as long as I liked, helped myself to what I liked, tried and tried and tried...no problem and in the end, bought some, returned some...no problem! The only reason why I would go to Jalan TAR everytime I went to KL - now no more, never go there anymore.

      Delete
    10. STP,
Come to Balakong/Ser Kembangan. Shop at Mines. Got shop for big size here. Dunno berapa kali XXXXXXXXXXX punya L size oso got. :)

      Delete
    11. Mines...so far!!! How to get there? Nobody will want to give me a lift... Me, so kesian...go KL, nobody layan. People come to Sibu, I bring everywhere like tourist guide, belanja makan some more. Sobssssss!!!!!

      Delete
    12. SYP, cannot expect much la. The plastic product or what there very brittle one.

Betul betul, Lina. Staffs muka masam. Then sometimes chit chat there not doing work.

Have not been to Kamdar. I thought Kamdar is for kain only.

That one is Big Boss shop is it, Lina.? they have a few outlets

Woi...cakap biar betul ni, STP " Nobody will want to give me a lift... Me, so kesian...go KL, nobody layan"

You come KL also very hard to book you leh. You so busy with appointment till berak also no time. Let alone bring you buy XXXXXXXL baju la

      Delete
  7. ...plus not environment-friendly some more. Waste of plastic!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. YES!! this statement adds to the third point!!!

      Delete
    2. no point in doing that. They are actually wasting their time and resources too.

      Delete
    3. refer to my comments above ...the hypermarket only let peope bring their own bags on Saturdays. Makes sense or not?? Maybe the top management never give proper instruction to Pak Guard or what.

The same la goes for those warehouse sale. If go there, the guard will wrap your whole bag with plastic then when go out they rip the plastic.

      really very wasteful la

      Delete
    4. ...and then they have no plastic day, don't give plastic bags. So ironic!

      Delete
    5. On no plastic day, they let customer bring own bags but then on normal day, they wont let people bring own bag.

Really duno what type of instruction is that.

The purpose of no plastic day on Saturday is to encourage people bring own plastic and hopefull people will do that on normal day too but then this one terbalik.

      Delete
  8. Carrefour MV did that, because they want to scare the small thief(毛賊)away, but this won't work for big thief (大盜).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Small thieves won't be afraid of this tactic. It won't prevent them from shoplifting.

      And....

Big thieves go steal from unoccupied house.

Bigger thieves go steal from ATM machine.

Biggest thieves go rob the bank. That's called robbers :D

      Delete
    2. well, first of all, all shopping bags shouldn't be allowed in the emporium except handbags. They can be kept outside in a safe counter being supervised by the security guard. This way, we don't feel so awkward. Furthermore, shoplifting can be duly reduced too.

      Delete
    3. yalah.. they thought we are all the 長毛賊 want to curi the mee maggie, curi the twisties and oh-ya, curi the vitagen, curi the chicken drumstick lah.. so must seal all our bags!!!

that's the point wenn.. what for allowing us to bring in bags with tapes and with "holes".. might as well disallow all shopping bags.. but then if that is the case, i won't even want to go in, rather go elsewhere..

      Delete
    4. I used to let my customers put their shopping bags at my counter. When they are done with their shopping, I can easily put all their stuff into their shopping bags.

      Delete
    5. Really la it wont deter petty thieves la.

as for supervised by the security guard, am not comfortable too. WHat if the guard sleepy that day and ter give my bag to other customer? Later my bag hilang how? They got post sign there say they are not responsible for any loss incurred

      Delete
    6. Ummm...SK, why you bring such a big bag when you go shopping? What do you have inside? Can show or not? I'm so curious... Hehehehehehe!!!!

      Delete
    7. He like gay boy mah... ada perfume. ada shaving foam. ada sikat besar. ada change of clothes. all inside that big bag of his. You dunno ah, STP.

OK lah, don't say gay boy lah.. later he merajuk, then insist I apologise, susah pulak! kekeke

I should say, he's the modern, metrosexual man. Macam David Bekham. Shorter and chubbier David Beckham! Bwahaha!!!!!!

      Delete
    8. David Beckham!!! Muahahahahahahaha!!! Joke of the year!!! Oops! Sorry, SK... She started it! * points at Lina*

      Delete
    9. He baru come back from shopping at the warehouse sale kot. Of course cannot put all those perfume and what not into the car la. later people break the car wiindow leh. That is why have to bring along to C4 gua.

Maybe the gua also curious what SK bring

There was one time we wanted to bring in a fan blade into a hypermarket coz the one in our hse rosak. wanna get replacement. The customer service just tape the plastic only. same thing happen la

      Delete
  9. Laugh by all means hahahaha..cannot understand the 'security' with the two strips after all they have those beeping machines at all exits plus most items are mainly 'locked' with those hi tech protective gadgets dunno what you called them and they have CCTVs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The tapes sort of can be checked upon when the customers come out from shopping. Those being tampered are surely suspected. Maybe it's a small move but it could be really effective to discourage shoplifting.

      Delete
    2. eih, the two pieces of tapes very "secured" one you know?? the customers won't be able to open their bags and slot in things they have shoplifted, wakakakaka!!

hahaha, wenn, see how my bag is sealed?? i can still slot in some items into my bag without tampering the tapes.. :D

      Delete
    3. yes, unless one is efficient enough to put the stolen items without being seen. Don't forget they have cctv.

      Delete
    4. but the two piece of tape really pointless lor. waste of tape only.

Not all small items are cheap leh. If go electronic item there then there are many expensive gadget that is smalll and able to fit into the bag leh.

      so no point put tape

      Delete
    5. If handbags or backpacks, how they seal? Some ladies have very big handbags also what?

      Delete
    6. Then, what else want to seal? People got big pockets also seal lah! Right or not?

I never bother go Carrefour already nowadays. Some more, so darn inconvenient lah, the layout of Carrefour MV. I just want to buy a bottle of drinks, have to walk whole kedai until the end for the darn thing. Might as well pay extra 10sen at Jusco. Hmph!

      Delete
    7. Next time, shoppers have to strip and enter naked...then cannot steal - no place to hide the things.

      Delete
    8. big hand bags or bag packet, last time they use super big plastic bag to wrap and tied with the plastic white tie.

then after sometime they changed . They put the plastic white tie to the zipper so you cannot open the zipper la.

    1. LOL! Ya, I can see 3 holes in between the 2 cello tapes.

Hey, Claire, you made me recall I frequently used the pigeon hole in the supermarket to put my bag and in return the person in charge on the counter would give me a tag to identify my pigeon hole :)

      Delete
    2. well, with those three holes, you need to struggle so as not to disturb the tapes. Yes, Taiping used to let us put our bags into the pigeon hole. Well, in one of KL shopping complexes, my whole handbag was put inside a plastic bag and sealed. I had to take out my purse first. Otherwise, how to pay?

      Delete
    3. yalah, i also no idea what they have in mind lah.. just put two strips of tapes leaving three holes for me to put in my mentos?? kekekeke..

oh, i somehow miss the pigeon hole lah but then normally when i see that, i will back off and go elsewhere.. this is not trusting the customers..

hahahahaha, you should have taken out your purse before they seal your expensive bag into a cheap plastic bag~~ :D

You know, sendiri scan our stuff and then after scan get receipt and pay at one central cashier?

Business operators don't trust customers. Customers also cannot be trusted. But then, I doubt that those overseas countries don't have petty thieves also. But the shops don't operate like ours.

      Why?

      Delete
    8. Self check out counters? die lo....the queue will be like 1 km long lor.

Makes me wonder too how oversea they can implement this.

But i know they have store detective la spying on people. Maybe the oversea people not like asian...so kiasu..curi tiny thing that may not even usable for ownself

    9. Overseas people very discipline, very efficient...not like here, dilly dally, lenggang lenggan, chit-chat chit-chat, gossip, gossip, talk on mobile, send msgs, play games whatever.... Everywhere in the UK, long queues...but so fast - you actually keep moving and soon it will be your turn already. Tak rasa pun. I brought things to read when I had to queue - no chance to read even as you have to keep moving in the mile-long queue.

  12. They are doing that here too.. actually there are two security guard welcoming you at the entrance of every malls, supermarket and department store... they are holding a not so long stick to use to check the stuff inside your bag... it's a hassle specially if you are in a hurry but I understand that they are doing that for the shoppers' protection. YOu know a lot of bombing been happening all over the globe. :)

    1. at least we know in your case they are scanning for weapons and hazardous items which i think is acceptable.. but then sealing all bags of customers thinking that we will steal things?? i cannot accept that, they are not trusting the customers, then what are their CCTV and advanced anti-shoplifting facilities are for??

      Delete
    2. Bombing is one thing la. I know in Indonesia they does that. shopper are greeted by securities guards with to detector sticks. same goes for cars that goes into shopping mall. they will check underneath the car with a mirror

But then the one SK talking about is they put to tiny tapes on the shopping bags to deter petty thieves. It's really wasteful and pointless

      Delete
    3. Well, at least we do not have bombings in our malls here...such snatch thefts in the parking lots....and the security there, they never bother - never think of the welfare of their customers - the ones who bring money to them! Best to boycott all these places...I would just go to the kedai runcit round the corner from my house - no hassle at all and the towkay so friendly, will give discount some more.

      Delete
    4. Lol they are just wasting tapes i think... if i were a thief i could still put my hand inside those shopping bags...

if i bad, i put empty boxes in the bags and when they seal the bags with two trips...i take expensive barang and at one corner, put it into the empty box which is not empty now and walk out of the store. Lagi best like that. This is to show how pointless it was

I will walk out of the shop right away...never to return.

    5. It's depend, when I'm in good mood, I don't mind the attendants - make me feel like a rich tai-tai, attended by so many people. Yes, good mood means my pocket is loaded ;)

On a bad day, the attendants are pest to me... which is unlikely to happen, because when I'm broke, I don't go shopping :)

I also hate those shop assistants that immediately adjust what we touched as if I senget the display so badly. Again, if mood no good, sure kena sound one. Before I come never so rajin to adjust display but after I touch immediately want to kemas ah? This shop is already closing kah, want to keams-kemas already?

    8. Exactly what I said!!! Why do they do that? Are they trained to do that or what?

In the UK, I went to e.g. once to a shoe shop. I touched every one, took down to see....tried a few and in the end, I decided not to buy.

The lady (English) was so friendly, so helpful. I said I was sorry but she said it was all right and asked me to drop by her shop again should I ever feel like buying shoes. I MOST certainly would...when that is the treatment I can get, not like here in Malaysia - try one pair, ask for another - the salesgirl face already turned BLACK like charcoal! Blardy hell!!!

    9. Betul tu, STP. Like we take out the baju is like already mess up their planning or something. Sien if shop like that

The senget thing i kena many times already one, Lina. If am shopping with friends and then we bad mood, will sound it liud loud when we exit the shop. Sound them like so eksyen . touch aalso cannot. I go other place and give them the money la

But some can be real pesky la Yvonne. I have not even see the dress properly she will start with her sale pitch. I dont mind la if they will "attend" when i ask them a question instead of them straight bla bla bla like that. Makes me feel like kena forced to buy or else berambus like that

No need UK la. Some in Msia also got good shop assistance punya. They will sit one side eye you and then if you appear to need help they will appear. But this art of discret eyeing is hard to find la. Now all shop assistent is those part time girls geh. where got mood to layan so much . Then more you touch the more they have to straughten up later. They will be more keen eyeing their phone
