09.04.2012 | 花名相稱

[Volume 7 Issue 4, #1379]
i believe during our schooldays, given nicknames by classmates was really a norm.. recently among few close friends known for many years, we like to address each other using the old-time nicknames.. if it was back then for sure we would get irritated with the nicknames, but now that we are already 30-something, we instead find that sweet and bring us closer.. hmmm, i guess it's because that we are aging hence we just like to always reminisce things in the olden days?? :D

    2. It's old age, Lina. How we wish we could turn back time and have fun again. Less worries, less burden, less tension, less responsibility.

But then, when we were young, we wished we would grow up faster and earn our own $$$, begin our journey to the BIG city.

      Such irony, isn't it?

    1. I had lots of nicknames too, either I was too popular or unpopular !! I think I was popular. One day someone screamed at my nickname so loudly on the street. My mood sprang into life and felt young and happy. I turned around and it was really a primary school mate! I slapped his head like kids again.

    2. I can't remember I have any nicknames or no.

Many a few, but none is significant enough to make me (or my old buddies) remember it.

I think I was way too unpopular back then, I appeared invisible to others.... =_____=

    1. Yeah, right. I hope I'll be able to response if one day I bumped into SK and he called out, "Queen SuperSponge Yvonne" *awkward moment*

I might not recognize SK at the moment, my brain is quite slow in face recognition. And I'm pretty sure that's another lunatic calling out his/her friend, not me :p

      Delete
    2. But then again, if SK were to call me "Yvonne", I might ignore him, too. So many with the common name "Yvonne" I'm just to lazy to look and answer, hehehe!

*tips: call my Chinese name and I'll answer.

    3. actually i think when bloggers meet, we just address them by the blog name or blog signoff.. so it's better to give yourself a nice nickname also lah, haha.. oh, ok, next time i will shout "Queen Supersponge Yvonne Muffin Tan Yee Hua", sure you know that's you~~

    1. I'm worst... I can't remember my own nicknames. And my friends' nicknames. I have very temporary and limited memory.

I usually address by actual names. Calling their nicknames shows more warmth and friendlier, this I agree.

      Delete
    2. actually depends on whether the nickname is good or bad.. sometimes nicknames can be sweet and can indeed bring two people closer together.. like what yvonne suggest, more warmth and friendly.. :)

    2. But I really don't mind those cute and nice ones.

      Delete
    3. yeah, i think it's not nice to give people nicknames that if offensive.. but then when we were kids we never have thought about those lah.. so now, just bear in mind, caring about your friend's feeling is more important..
