29.10.2012 | 非飯之輩

[Volume 7 Issue 10, #1582]
i think i've mentioned before that i am definitely not a rice person, and i don't need to have rice everyday.. i can totally survive without rice, because there are still noodles and bread that i can opt to eat.. though there may be times i will feel like having rice, most probably not plain rice but rather flavored rice like fried rice and chicken rice etc.. in fact, i have not been taking rice at home for like 7-8 years already, i just usually have soup and dishes to settle a meal (but why am i still that fat huh??!!).. anyway it's quite conflicting too, for example when i have chicken rice, i can just finish the rice without the need to eat the chicken together!! that is why i sometimes think i rather have weird habit when it comes to eating, haha!!

    1. SK is talking about rice and rice and more rice in his post today, but you're demanding for a pasta post? Hehehehe, I wanted to see his review on the instant pasta he received from STP, too~

I know many friends who went to UK and came back are darn good in cooking pasta. But then, they are so lazy to cook once they reached home!

  6. They say noodles are more fattening than rice. I stopped eating noodles once...and my waistline shrank by some 4 inches...but after a month or two, once the body got used to that kind of diet, I started expanding again - without the noodles...so I decided that I might as well go back and eat noodles again, what the heck!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I didn't know that noodles are fattening! It must be that Kampua Mee that fattens the people!

      Delete
    2. I don't mind fresh noodles like kueh teow and mee but definitely not dried noodles such as Maggi.

      Delete
    3. Of course Kampua Mee is fattening, mee hun is not fattening at all. Mee Hun has the less calories compared to other noodles, like Koeh Teow and yellow noodle. So, I always opt for mee hun or mee sua when I take noodles.

      Delete
    4. Yup! Mihun, kway teow - rice-based noodles...not as fattening as noodles made from wheat flour.

      Delete
    5. ...and kampua mee is worse as they use pork lard....like Penang char kway teow - can get to eat the fat crusts in it some more. So unhealthy...but soooo nice! LOL!!!

      Delete
    6. Wenn, can make home made Pan Mee la. That one very fresh and easy.

Ooo mihun less fattening ah? Tarak tau but i biasa preferred mihun than yellow noodles. Only recent years did i start liking Keoy teow.

But then certain keoy teow have strange taste...like chemical or bitter taste. That one i duno what they put in it. Dont like to eat that

This "chung" theory isn't very convincing la, SP. I ask my kids to eat more fish as this is a good source for brain.

    7. I learn something new today. "Chung" is for Chung Ming eh! I love this spring onions very much. This spring onions usually used in those noondles for longevity (sau min). Long and un-cut spring onions, seldom anyone can swallow it. I can swallow down all. Didn't know i am so clever also, until SP told me.

  11. Hello STP. Meant to stay and chat but something cropped up, so had to leave.

Just like fried rice, chicken rice is a good all-time-alternative when you don't know what to order. The pak-chum chicken itself and the chilli play an important part besides the rice.

  12. Chicken rice and fried rice are good option if we are fed up of economy rice.

  13. Good morning, SK, STP, Bananaz, TM, Wenn, lina, Meow, Happy Surfer, Ah Hua, Hayley and all.

I had a very busy weekend, so I only report myself today.

Anyway, I found another similarity with SK. I can go without rice forever. If I really have to take rice, I prefer those fragrant rice like fried rice, nasi briyani, nasi tomatoes, nasi lemak and nasi planta.

Hi 5 again SK, I don't take rice at home too. If I take also I take one or 2 spoonful only. I feel guilty too if I take more than 2 spoonful of rice. But then, I still look the same forever. I still gain one or 2 kgs each year. Sigh.....

I don't mind people say fugly or old. Bu then, when people say me putting on weight. I will cry buckets.

Meow, my parents hate seeing me on diet. They would feed me rice and rice only. I refrain from eating rice when I know what is called "slim an fit".

SP, I was in Ipoh 2 days. I went there in the morning and came back at noon. My April was there for Ping Pong Training. We will be going to Ipoh also this weekend, and next two weekends. This training is to prepare her for Tunas Muda Negara Ping Pong Tournament. She is representing Perak under 10 female.

  17. Good afternoon HS and everyone! So early today ya :)

Mmm....dies...chicken rice...now my tummy gru gru gru liao....have not had brekfast. Maybe tapau chicken rice later for lunch.

my side here chicken rice very cheap and give a lot of meat.

aiya, SK you are like my son la. Eat chicken rice only eat the rice. Next time dont waste money order chicken rice la. Just order the "yellow" rice and the kicap kau tim

Betul what HS said. the chili also important. Cili and the kicap not nice makes the whole thing taste bland.\

Economy rice now also not really "economy". The other day on shop in KL charge me RM6 for 3 dishes. 2 types of vege and one piece of white Yong Tau Foo! Grrrr...eat chicken rice also not that kek sum!

Me chapalang...depend on mood. sometimes eco rice and sometimes oodle and sometimes salad.

Last week i gila salad...went makan Ceaser salad at Chilis and Tony Roma. Like The Tony roma ones better.

STP, there is one economy rice in PJ that taste very good leh. Dont think they put much of msg coz afetr eat tarak thirsty. Their dishes not cook and leave there afew hours. Can see the kitchen frequently cooking and new hot dish comes out. Maybe the shop a lot of people makan la.

SP and TM might know where the shop is. Same row as KFC in Paramount garden. a few streets from the Bumbung Nasi Lemak that Mandy ate before
