the trip to shanghai and beijing in year 2007 was initially really meant for the two cities only, but because we had a weekend in shanghai, a friend suggested that we do a weekend breakaway out of shanghai, and hence we had this 2D1N short trip to hangzhou, indeed it was a bonus to me.. :)
  • because of the weekend, we were able to get more friends to join us for the weekend trip.. a friend has been to hangzhou for as many as 8 times yet she followed, with her a our guide, the trip though was a little rush but overall it was a good and leisure one..
  • it was a weekend getaway, so more of catching up with friends than sightseeing.. hence besides some more important attractions (west lake, leifeng pagoda, temple of soul's retreat) we spend more time in eating and indoor entertainments.. i still remember we hunt here and there just for the famous hangzhou dongpo style braised pork, haha!! :D
  • when i was in hangzhou, my hair has slightly grown longer and hence that ugly hairstyle didn't look as ugly as it was before.. i also didn't need to wear my cap to cover it, so i felt more cooling (i mean both my head and my heart too)~~ :D
  • i kind of blogged about this trip to shanghai back then, all in chinese and photos were so tiny even a magnifying glass could not help.. however they did record my views and incidents that has happened at those particular moments.. click here if you are interested to read on..

By the way, I never visited any country free and easy like SK. I am a very lazy person, somemore I needed to cater for my two girls. So, most of the time I will sign up tour. So that I don't need to think of logistic, accommodation, and food. You get what I mean? But I am a single like SK, I would love to go for free and easy trip.

Nothing much historical to see that suits my interest. My friends said they have so much fatty food and one gained 5 kilos after 6 days on business trip. Horrors!

    1. Photo B: So this is the West lake of Hangzhou! Look at that rock you posed with. I often studied their rocks and wondered if they carved them or it was natural formation. The wonderful Chinese can fake and carve anything!

I am can testify that this Hangzhou Lake is prettier than the one in Nanjing which looked bigger only. I didn't explore the lake in Nanjing which had small islands as well.

    2. Photo C: So this Leifeng Pagoda is one of the 10 attractions there. How come you didn't go right up to the Pagoda? I only see Thambee's photos in so many shots covering 40% of the scenic photos. I rarely post myself in the photos in blogs la cos I am not so attractive already.

    8. Photo I: I noticed that only China has these huge carvings of deities on the rocks. The only other Buddha carvings in Afghanistan have been bombed by their fanatics and the famous All Presidents heads are carved in Mount Rushmore, USA.
Was that all the deities being carved at the rocks in hangzhou? Was there more but you didn't snap?

      Delete
    9. Photo J: Why your friend took photos without showing the actual carving details? This photo is to show your face only as part of the carvings. Wakakakaka
I have seen these wall carvings many times so I am able to say they are always very nice and interesting with legendary stories to tell. It was so hard to carve on granite stones with facial details like eyes and teeth!! Goodness!

      Delete
    10. Photo K: This is the Lingyin Temple which is so famous. Do you know what deities are inside and no photos again? I went to Shanghai's City God's temple and snapped almost all the deities inside after asking for permission. I will blog them later when I have finished my last Thai episode.

I just googled the photos of the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou! They are so beautiful and impressive with the Amitabha Statue inside. So many other photos around the temple looked so impressive.

    11. Photo L: I always loved to see the ancient courtyards in China. I would spend minutes there and dream a lot about the olden days showing the Masters sipping tea while watching the grandchildren playing crickets and marbles in the courtyard. Th stoned pagoda must be next to the courtyard, I guess....

I guess you are talking about those icons at the edge of the roofs. I was made to understand that those are the status of the officer or Royalty rankings by counting the number of its angels. The Beijing's Palace has the most hence it was the Emperor's rank.
