28.05.2013 | 暴增郵費

[Volume 8 Issue 5, #1727]
went to the general post office last saturday to send out gifts[1] to some bloggers friends.. the reason why i don't mind the trouble going all the way to this GPO and not just conveniently one that's near my place, was because they have more counters and i don't usually have to wait, i hate the queue and inefficient staffs at smaller post offices.. took my number and waited for my number to be called, but i could just see the staffs busy chit-chatting.. until the supervisor saw my impatient face and invited me to proceed to the counter right away, i thought: how nice to work like she is "the queen at home" huh?? i got all my posts registered[2], and the staff asked if i am aware of the 300% increase[3] for postage to overseas (yes, you read it, whopping 300%!!) and if i was keen to proceed.. what to do?? we were already on the chopping board, why not ask if we are okay with the increase instead??!! in the end i paid RM50 for the postage, don't you find it pathetic for postage more expensive than items sent?? and till this post is published, their system still tells me "record not found" when i am trying to query the status of my posts!! now that's what you called "service excellence at premium price" huh??

  2. Yeah, the 300% is a steep incline. That's what privatisation can do to our dollar.

  7. Earlier this month I also posted things out on a Saturday using registered mail and when I came home to check the status on Sunday, no record found. Same goes for Mon and Tuesday

got fed up and emailed them . 3 days later they replied sayy I can check the status now....then I baru saw said delivered.

Hmm...maybe if post out on saturday, they wont update their system ah? Could it be that is the reason?

  9. adei...300% increased? For overseas only ka or including local. That is a hefty increase. But like what you have said, meat is already on the chopping board .

Anyway, we not doing business is suffering with the 300% increase. Just imagine what is happening to those who are doing business especially those who needs to send their products overseas.

They qouted the customer XXX price and then suddenly arrive post office and found the postage increased by 300%. Haiz....maybe end up their profit margin will be cut low or even not making profit at all...after all, they have qouted the customer xxx price...cant go back on that, right?

  10. My side here is the same. Tiny pos office with only 3 counters open and daily if you wanna post anything have to wait average 30 minutes to an hour.

Now pos office is adding more and more services in their profile. They being insurance agent, JPJ payment counter, utilities bills agent, banking agent, paying income tax agent this and that...It takes time to login various website to perform transactions and worst still if system down.

That's why 3 counter is never enough leh . They should open a special counter for those who want to perform single transaction like posting parcel only.

Just imagine...to post one measly parcel have to wait one hour...die man...

  11. Me too would prefer to use bigger pos outlets to send parcels. But my side here other post office are too far away.

  13. sometimes we see staffs chit-chatting. But i think if there is a customer in front of them and they are chit chatting it could be due to waiting to go into they system. You know la..to logout from JPJ then login to insurance system or something like that. Even at home we do e-banking or check our insurance online also takes some time la.

But what I beh tahan is that the counter is empty but the staffs not calling number but slowly count the money in the drawers or put away their stationery korek here and korek there while chit chatting and then baru wanna press button to call number.

Hmm.....i dont know whether they hv grading system like in the bank or not.In some banks they have this delivery system whereby each teller will be monitor on the idle time. Teller must call the next number by certain time. This will affect their appraisal.

    1. Their jobs in the post office is so BORRRIIINNNG so they need to chit chat la. The bank staff tellers dare not talk at all cos managers and CCTV cameras are linked to HQ like vultures!!

    2. Ah Hua likes to chit chat with yannie during office hours too.... until we received memo to warn us to "concentrate on our job", cheh~

But then again, women can multitask quite well. We can chat, blog, eat and perform our task synchronously. Haha!

    3. Luckily in the new office, the big cheesedare not split ah hua and yannie. Still we sit next to each other, but the wall is built taller in between us now. I must think of a way to dig a hole on the wall, so that I can still chit chat with Ah Hua through the hole.

  21. I also had my share of worries whenever I sent goodies to bloggers. Even the recent Shanghai postcards could stress me out for many nights. The most terrible one was the card reached Ah Hua's husband's office instead and HE KEPT IT IN HIS DRAWERS!!!!! I think MM hated Anay for flirting with his wife. No??

Ah Boy please don't give me her husband's address again la. I was like kena FIRE burnt. LOL
