[Volume 7 Issue 9, #1536]
there are two things i really do not like to happen when i make payment over the cashier, but unfortunately i would say the probability is rather high..
  • "sir, do you have small notes??".. hello, if i have smaller notes then i would have given to you, it doesn't make sense to ask right?? is preparing more change something so difficult?? furthermore nowadays a piece of RM50 note can't really buy much already, agree?? but i'm not that bad really, i don't mind being asked if i have few cents or ringgit so that you can round up the change..
  • "sir, i run out of 5-sen, you won't mind that right?".. hello, how do you expect me to respond?? you've said that, and expect me to take a gun pointing at you insisting that 5-sen?? but i think if they purposely do that, it is rather unfair to the customers, though we probably won't mind that 5-sen, but if this happens to every customer, they would have accumulated a handsome extra income.. it's really their bounded duty to be ethical in doing business~~

    1. wahhhh you so generous ah?

It's not the 5sen punya matter you know.

It's the way the do it like they purposely tipu the 5 sens from us.

I noticed there is one mini market at my place here that does that. 3 days out of 7 days they will say they run out of 5 sen.

How can that be? That means the Manager is not doing his/her job

if in case like this they should give us the 5 discount instead . Not to ask us to wave the 5 sens.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, it's more the principle than the monetary value. I've encountered being robbed of 5sen as well as getting a 5sen discount but being robbed is not such a nice feeling as getting a discount, that I can say.

These days, I make sure I have 5sen coins in my wallet. At least it cuts out one sour taste in our daily living.

    3. I HAVE GOT LOTS OF CHANGES STASHED IN EVERY TIN AND PIGGY BANKS AT HOME. SO I NORMALLY EXCHANGE THEM WITH 7 ELEVENS OR COFFEE SHOPS AND THEY WILL BE SO HAPPY. I USUALLY CARRY LOOSE CHANGES ALONG AS I KNOW SUCH "NO CHANGE" ISSUE WILL OCCUR.

      Delete
    4. there's this one stall at gardens mall food court that kept doing that. Eveytime I go, always say cannot give the 5 den change. Go 10 timed, sudah earn free 50 den. O.O

    5. lina and SK so unlucky. Met such stall. Lucky me never encounter this in my place at all wo!

      Delete
    6. O.o Lina, the food court stall is selling their food with the 5 cents one, ka? I mean, like RM6.95 or RM10.55; no even number like RM6.90 or RM10.50? Easier without the 5 cents wert~

      Delete
    7. i think your Taiping side not that notorious la but KL side more and more are doing like that.

I know it's easier if RM6.90 or RM10.50 but then if they put RM6.95 or RM10.55...10 customers they already untung 50cents. Let say one day 100 customers....ady get RM5. RM5x 30 days....ady RM150. Even if they dont do that daily...just 10 days out of 30 days...ady untung RM50 you know.

      Delete
    8. TM...the normal kopitiam will be very happy if ou exchange the coins with them coz if they go to the bank to change coins, the bank would charge them. f not mistaken last time was RM8/pack of coins changed.

Coz Bank Negara will charge the Banks for the Security guard punya van service mah.

      Delete
    9. Last time, my brother punya coins that he kept, I always pass to the food court management to exchange. They always happy to receive them. Save them trouble to go change at bank.

And for me, save me the hassle to bank it in the bank.

      Delete
    10. Yvonne, foodcourt at malls got gov tax charged mah...

      Delete
    11. Haha, forgotten about government tax and so, as we in Taiping don't patron these places. You know local uncles aunties love cheap stuffs. Anywhere with extra charges or taxes, they will try to avoid it. Yeah, that's including myself.

Have becoming auntie like that (or am that all while).

  5. It's only money... Imagine the poor girl working long hours for so little pay and you have to pay a ringgit or two extra and she doesn't have RM8 or RM9 change for you - let her keep it lah. Let her go have coffee. You would treat your friends for a lot more than RM1 or RM2, I'm sure....

    ReplyDelete

    1. What! No such thing as keep it la.

If she dont have change then the company have change. Just ask the manager to open up the safe or ask her to change the small notes with next counter la.

If just give like that ,it will become a habit to them. When they have not enough money, they will just say to cuztomer they dont have change and hope the customer would wve. one customer RM1...of one day got 50 customers???

    2. I once cancelmy food order because the cashier told me to get small change to pay. Maybe he thought I'd either go find change or told him to keep the change. I will do no such thing!

COme on la... I also per ah work as cashier. So Susan meh to plan any get ready proper change? Malas only la

      Delete
    3. Good for you. Food order can cancel la. But if go pasar buy sayur will kena the sayur vendor scold. Thats why when go pasar i make sure i got RM10 notes . If give them RM50 notes, I woiuld tell the lady sorry first coz no small notes. Dare not give them RM100 to change else kena KNS kau kau...what the heck...buy saur RM5 you gimme RM100 to change....bla bla bla

      Delete
    4. Yalah... I also don't dare to mengada-ngada at market one. kekeke

And sure bring small change one. Understand la kan? ;)

      Delete
    5. I don't give big big note when go pasar buy sayur. Really will kena screwed by the vendors. Always have loose change and also will try to avoid giving big note to fishmonger because when I get back the changes, it is wet and smelly like salted fish.

      Delete
    6. LOL....I agree that the notes will smell at the wet markets. The worst is pork sellers who give you oily notes that smell like dead meat smell. Blergh!

      Delete
    7. Fish mongers are the worst la. The smell f the notes all fishy smell. The pork one not as bad.

Kesian the bank tellers when the market meat vendors, fish mongers and etc go and do banking.

  6. And if you think that they do it on purpose so people will ask them to keep the change, then all I would say is what goes around comes around - they will get it back one day. Would never get rich cheating people like that. God is all seeing, all knowing...

It means somebody in the company is not doing their job properly

small shop small business will usually put their product to the nnearest 10sen not 5 sens.

      Delete
    3. Yes, usually cashier will have to give all the excess money to the shop. additional kaching to the shop.

this really makes me wonder whether the manager of the shop have instruction from HQ not to give out 5sen or something like that.

If it happen once in a blue moon then i would understand la. some more 5 sens nowadays cant even buy a candy. But this happens weekly. Really makes me mad

      Delete
    4. Sure give to the shop, ka? I think the cashier telan the money him/herself.

Last time when I worked part time in a supermarket as a cashier, my senior taught me to keep the extra changes in a box. The management wouldn't know about the extra because they just tally the cash with the receipt.

I was just a freshie, followed her instruction and collected the loose changes that customers forgot to take back. She had a box full of coins. And the last time I heard about it was, some money was missing from the registry and she was blamed.

      Delete
  8. Betul cilaka one about the 5 sens...not only you kena. I also kena and it's from the same supermarket at my place here .

one week got 7 days....at least 3 days no 5 sens change. how can that be?

I got so angry that i wrote in to their HQ. Got one dumb reply la...say thank you for highlighting the matter.

Thisn means the HQ also "endorse" their practice lah!!!

Going to go there one time and pay them with all 5sens! let the cashier slowly count the change!

Really fed up with them .

I knpw 5 sens is a small amount la. I dont really mind losing that but being feel "FORCED" to loose them and it was like they are purposely doing that...so what the heck.

I am wondering...instead of asking us to forfeit the 5sen, why not they give us the 5sens discount??!!Customer PR mah. You give us 5 sen discount we lagi happy

    1. Yes, customers are happier even if we give them the 5 sen discount.

Sufficen to say, we become regular customers there. ;)

      Delete
    3. ya...some small restaurant willl do that. They would just round up the figures. Malas wanna change coins and etc. A happy customer is a returning customer

      Delete
  10. as for asking for smaller change, then I dont really mind la.

Cz sometimes even if i have small change in pocket, i will give them RM50 to break

For example let say i wanna pay school fees and i know the school would like an exact fees amount and the Principal have to orek from her purse. So if i just have ngum ngum that amount in my pocket , and i go mini market to buy stuff,. If the casheir ask me if i have small change, i would say no. Cz the small change amount is already allotted for school fee. Padahal, i know the cashier have it in the drawers but lazy to korek out only.Whereas if i gave the small change to the cashier, the Principal may not have small change then i would have to come back next day to collect the balance.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I prefer to give exact amount too when my kids need to pay for any fees in school. I even give exact amount to the bus driver. But when I go marketing, I usually give big note and I will keep the change for my shop.

    2. I terbalik wor, Wenn.

If i got to spuermarket or hypermarket i would give big notes but if market i would give small notes coz sometimes the hawkers very fierce one. if give them RM50 and they dont have the change will kena scolding or kena them halau asked to go and change then baru come back to pay them

      Delete
    3. But if they really have no chance, then I would give the smaller notes. I always have big and small notes with me but not coins.
