噚日食晏嘅時候, 唔知點解覺得特別餓, 去食蕉葉飯, 老闆已經俾咗兩殼飯我, 眨下眼好似唔多夠, 於是就話再俾多啲.. 結果佢狠狠誓多一殼埋嚟, 真係成座山咁, 其實我平時都應該係食一半量咋囉.. 結果當然係食唔晒啦, 盡我所能到最後都係白白浪費一半飯, 真係罪孽!! 所以就有「眼闊肚窄」呢句嘢喇, 尤其肚餓嘅時候, 以為自己可以食多啲嘢, 自然就會買多幾樣嘢俾自己充飢啦.. 不過最後通常搞到自己格硬食, 反而仲適得其反, 辛苦自己.. 所以話, 肚餓好易令人喪失理智, 大家記得要食嘢, 唔好餓親呀~~ :p
i have no idea why i was so hungry at lunch yesterday, went to have banana leaf rice and the boss already gave me two scoops of rice, but it just didn't seem to be enough for me.. i thus requested for a little bit more, but he then slammed another huge scoop extra for me, making that a mountain of rice in front of me.. i don't usually eat that much, and of course after trying my best, i still have to forgo half of the rice, what a sin for the wastage!! therefore we have this saying "big appetite but small stomach", especially when we are hungry, we tend to overestimate the capacity of our stomach and get more food to fight the hunger.. but most of the time, we ended up having to forcefully finish what we have, and then suffer from the bloat.. that is why, you can get insane easily when hungry, so better feed yourself properly and don't starve yourself~~ :p

    1. I usually don't waste or have leftovers, not because I'll eat all my food but my hubby always finishes the leftovers. He hates wastage!

      Usually when you tambah nasi they will plonk BIG scoop punya. You belum get the chance to say "STOP!!" or "CUKUP!" the rice already on the leaf .

      Usually they will put a lot of rice for men. Ladies they will put less

  7. True, it's better to eat what you can actually afford to finish it. It's a real waste if you can't finish it. When I was in Europe and had my meals, the bosses were not happy when I couldn't finish them. So I always made sure that I had smaller portion.

    1. When I was younger i would pile up my plate during buffet. But now am old already and cant eat much, i just take small portion or one piece of some of the things only. SOmetimes really paiseh. wak one big round at the buffet table come back with 2-3 pieces of food only.

    2. I usually take a piece or two from each type at a buffet. If I need another round, then I will go for it. It's not good to waste food eventhough we are paying for it.

  8. Normally we can't control when we eat buffet..
    there is one time I saw a guy eat so much until he vomited .. kns..
    it was so gross.. that is why I never like to eat buffet..

      That brother duno first time makan buffet or what. Makan and makan and makn till half way he told us he need to go toilet to "download". Then come back to the table and makan some more.

      when i was younger i like going to buffet lah. Not really for the makan but rather connecting with group of friends/colleagues.

      You know la when we newly come out to work. all single or some courting stage. It's fun to go makan in a big group lor. more "yit lau".

      Food at buffet not that nice but at least there are things for each person la. Usually I would take ice cream hahaha

    5. To feel the company of friends, I rather go steamboat session. Cheap and havoc~

      I mean, buffet is kinda expensive (for a small eater like me) and usually have to be act posh to dine there. Unlike steamboat, you can eat and laugh and eat again like a pig. Nobody cares.

  10. Although I'm a rice lover, I always ask for "less" rice. At home, when I have not enough I'll top up my rice. It's not good to waste, as you said.

    2. At home, I'm placed 2nd rice tong. My father is the 1st. Sometimes I top up my bowl and sapu clean the rice in the rice cooker XD

    4. I eat only about 3 tablespoons of rice every meal. I feel guilty if I take too much rice. I am not rice tong. I can go without rice for 1 week. I can survive with only noodles, biscuit, fruit, veggie and breads.

    5. Me also "Farn Tung"(Rice pot). One day dont eat rice will feel like not really full eventhough after makan noodle or maybe steak.

      You gimme rice and the lauk that I like I can sapu two plates of rice. Like the simple belacan with lime, Fried asam egg and stuffs like that.

    1. It's good to cut down the beer. Really make the belly very round and big. I always nag my hubb to reduce his drinking.... well, I guess nagging doesn't help here. Maybe I'll use other tactic to persuade him, ahem ahem...

    2. SP, yes, beer has high calories. Rice too. I heard if you want to lost weight, you have to cut down the rice intake. Dinner, i eat whatever on the table, with only a few tablespoons of rice only.

    3. Once men hit 30, the body will expand sideways.

      I saw in many schoolmates photos. Last time in school super thin. EVen thinner than Mr Bean. But once hit 30, can see they become rounder. Some I can't recognise at all.

      The most astonishing changes will be those atheletes. You know la...during school time got 6 packs body. Now most of the 6 packs have combined into 1

    4. I agree with you Meow, I find men easily out of shape then women. Kekekeke! No offend. Because my school mates also same. During Chinese New Year gathering, I could notice all men's bodies went horizontal, but women were all still looking not bad after birth.

    2. I usually have rice for dinner. Breakfast have oat or bread and lunch have noodles.

      In between, I'll grab some biscuits with kopi-o for tea break. Like that I won't get over-hunger and over-eat during dinner.

      I don't want to finish the whole pot of rice, keke :p My mom says I eat rice more than the lauk-pauk, which is kinda true.

      But I dont like eating oat. Probably when i was young mom tried to feed me oat and it was bland. EVen now if let say add milk, sugar, fruits or whatever in the Oat, I still dont like it.

      But then again, usually I skip breakfast and eat brunch instead. SO if you ask me eat breakfast, I can eat la but not much lo. A bite or two

    during lunch I normally eat mix economy rice.. and i will take a lot.. and i have to pay and eat a lot too.. but it is lunch and I need the energy to work..

    3. Not really greedy la i think. Maybe whole morning working then lunch will feel hungry. Once hungry when we see the dishes at the mixed rice shop we tend to wanna eat everything lor. It happens to me too.

      By the way, there is one mixed rice shop that opens in the evening at Paramouth . I like the lauk there. But forgotten the name. Same row as the KFC

    4. and when we are very hungry even the food is not delicious it'll taste good.. have you experience eating something when you were hungry and the food tasted so good but then when you tried eating the same food again when you are not so hungry the food isnt that tasty like the first time you have eaten it ?

  17. This is what my Aussie friend used to comment on Asians ..we've got big eyes but small stomach. When we see food we tend to order order order forgetting we have a small stomach. Bananaz would settle for 500 grains of rice no more and no less for lunch & dinner until the shop owner knows me very well that I wanna 'small rice' and he sometimes refer me as 500 not the singer, WuBai hehe. Apparently he is in town with his China Blue band for a concert this month.

  24. I seldom waste food. I will finish whatever I bought, but I always leave some rice on my plate when I eat outside.

    Thanks goodness, my husband is a rice tong, he always helps me with my leftover rice. That's why he is growing fatter and fatter now.

      I know for malay is polite to leave at least one spoon of rice on the plate when we wanna ask to top up rice la. That was what one of my malay school mate told me. If we dont wanna tambah nasi then can finish off the whole plate of rice

    3. Wenn, same like my MIL. She also seldom eat. Breakfast, lunch and dinner she doesn't eat. She said she "gedik-gedik"(pinch food) from the kids and cucu already makes her very full already. Those food that the cucu cannot finish, she will finish it herself.

  25. When age is catching up, the metabolism rate is slowing down. I try to reduce sugar, oil and carb in my diet, and still not able to see very obvious weight loss.

    I think I have to follow SP to go for vegetarian food more.

    1. Vegetarian food can reduce weight meh? all those flour wor. I dont like vegetarian food much. Unless you say it's vegetables la. hose fake char siew and fake fried drumstick doesnt appeal to me.

      Becoming vegetarian also need to take care of eating from all food group. Must eat a lot of peanuts to replace meat

    2. Vegetarian food in those form of fish or meat contains lots of carbohydrates which can fatten us up. Best to eat more vegetables and fruits.

  26. I think I read somewhere that the signal from our tummy to our brain is on a delayed mode.

    We eat and eat and eventhough our tummy is full already, our brain will still say the tummy is hungry.

    That's why it's adviced that we makan then rest ahile before we decide to eat more or not. Like after finish off one portion of the Banana leaf rice, wait 5 or 10mins. Chat with friends first before call for "tambah nasi". That is if still feel hungry la. Let the nasi settle down in tummy first

    1. A friend told me we should eat only 70% full or else our food won't get digested properly. We should also eat small portion of food frequently instead of a big full plate of food.

  29. the banana leaf stalls certainly love piling a big mountain of rice even when I say its enough. Grrrr...and because I hate wasting food, I end up having to eat them all slowly. Yes and the buncitness comes with it.

  35. last month i tried to lose a bit wait on my tummy part i cut down the amount of my food intake my tummy shrink but also my body looks to thin which i dont really like so now i was on a big diet my body was back to how i want it to be except for the tummy part haha maybe ill consider working out soon

  37. I remember back in my younger days my mom always telling me to finish my meal coz there are lots of children out there who doesnt have any thing to eat thats how my mom thought us the vale of foods

  42. SK, you know right? I am very particular of my weight. Because of my height, I cannot be too huge in size. That's why I kind of strict in my diet. However, I still will eat something i like in big amount. So, my weight is actually increasing. I always blame it to the age.

    Anyway, I read something in FB, we will gain weight when we aged as well. 1 or 2 kg every year. So, this makes me every more cautious now. I try to cut down the carbs, the sugar and the meat.
