if 4 out of the 12 comments did not meet the minimum word count, then these 4 comments will not be given any points.. hence you will get a nett score (NS) of 1.0 + 4×0 + 8×0.1 = 1.8.. which means your differential score (DS = NS - GS) is 1.8 - 2.2 = -0.4
scenario 2
if 4 out of the 12 comments did not meet the minimum word count but you have left 2 very long comments.. the short comments of course earned nothing but the long comments will earn you extra points.. hence you may get an N-Score of 1.0 + 4×0 + 2×0.2 + 6×0.1 = 2.0.. which means your D-Score is 2.0 - 2.2 = -0.2
scenario 3
if only 2 out of the 12 comments did not meet the minimum word count but you have left 1 very long comment and 1 super long comment.. hence you may get an N-Score of 1.0 + 2×0 + 1×0.2 + 1×0.4 + 8×0.1 = 2.4, meaning your D-Score is 2.4 - 2.2 = +0.2
summary
hence there is really no deduction of points, you either get nothing or you are rewarded with extra points.. in short, as long as you comment you are guaranteed with 1.0 point and the longer a single comment is, the more points you will be earning.. but again i am not revealing the requirements control here, it has to be kept secret to be fair and to allow you to strategize how you will be commenting.. that makes commenting more fun right?? hehehe!!

Deleteyou will get a guaranteed 1.0 points if you leave a comment in a post, and for each of the comments you put:
0 points - if your comment did not meet the minimum word count requirement
0.1 points - if your comment passed the requirements
additional points - if your comment is long enough exceeding a certain number of words, and the extra points are given in multiples of 0.1 points, the longer the more extras..
hehehehe, more confusions?? just think of the comments as normal, good and bad shares lah.. the better the shares the more money you make, the worse the shares the less money you make.. simple?? :D
the ranking is based on N-Score (i.e. the nett score), the D-Score has nothing to do with the scoring, it's basically just a reference on the effectiveness of your commenting and won't affect your ranking.. you can basically ignore that..
Deleteagain, don't see the D-Score as deductions, read my earlier comments there is no deductions happening at all.. put away your perception that -ve must be deductions, it can be just how much you are away from the standard score.. :)
make it simple, you can see the N-Score as the marks of your exam papers, the D-Score as the marks given for your disciplinary conduct.. so your teacher will rank you based on only the exam papers, your disciplinary grade is just a reference and won't affect your position in class..
anyway, as i always say, you don't have to understand all these calculations (even if i explained you all never understand also wat, haha!!).. just comment as you like lah, simple~~ :D
