i realized it's not easy to write travelogue at all, from picking the photos to writing the contents (furthermore i'm writing in two languages!!), you just need lots of energy.. anyway since i've mentioned i will blog more in details about this trip, i have no way going back!! i did not bring camera to tokyo but just snapping things with my mobile phone, hence photos i am having now are all objects and sceneries.. still lots of photos in friend's camera, thus you won't find me in what i'm showing you here.. i believe everyone is more interested to see the place rather than me, also i find myself looking old and fat and weary, better be wise not to show my shortcoming, haha!! anyway, this is part two of the travelogue and i hope you'll enjoy reading it.. :)

  8. I also have same thoughts like you while holidaying in Japan. We stayed at 3 and 4 star hotels on different nights to pamper ourselves.

In China, I stayed at 4 and 5 Star hotels instead as they were so cheap with promotions.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. wow, meaning Anay moved from hotel to hotel on a daily basis?? that could be quite tiring too having to pack and unpack everyday.. what i mean was, averagely decent hotel throughout the trip, but reserve one night for super luxury one, haha!! :D

      Delete
    2. We stayed for 6 nights and slept in 3 different hotels in Osaka and Kyoto. It is always a risk to book the hotels when we have no idea how good and comfy they could be. So better rotate a bit.

      Delete
    3. yes, i agree with that.. don't place all your eggs in one basket.. furthermore, you are going to different places, sure you need to book different hotels lah..

      Delete
  12. Very interesting trip! Like the short and sweet descriptions with each photo. And I realized Japanese food is not as expensive as I thought it would be.. you know how everyone always says you need to spend a lot in Japan..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hmmmm, that is actually what we always perceived, but then when you are really there, it's really not that expensive if you know the place well.. furthermore, japanese yen is relatively cheaper now.. :)

  13. Good morning SK!
Yea, not easy to write travelogue at all, really. Have to pick photos then share about the places/food etc, but then, I think the process is quite enjoyable la, right? ;)

    3. Apa hotel? Haha what a 'nice' name? Hmm did you check what does apa means in Japanese? But doesn't matter la, as long as the hotel room is nice and cozy!
Hmm I think fing fing is quite tired throughout the trip, but I am sure he enjoys the trip as much as his owner did!

    6. very true, i actually spent hours in writing one post like that.. from picking the photos, to touching up a little on the photos, to writing a short story for each of the photo (somemore in two languages!!).. last time can write 3 posts in a day to schedule, but with this only can write 1 a day, haha!!

many interesting places, i like those places that they still keep the traditional culture.. and though crowds were everywhere, but everything was in good order, people are disciplined and polite.. so no problem with that.. :)

errr, actually not bad lah the photos taken with my phone.. hmmm, i have taken like 450 photos with my phone, but have no idea how many in my friend's camera, haha!! nowadays with digital camera things are more convenient lah, no need to scared not enough film mah~~ but then me not handsome lah, see the scenery better right?? :D

  16. You'll realised many shops, outlets, even houses and buildings are build in such kind of sizes. So they can fit in more stalls and many more people staying there.

I like their morning wet market. It is wet but it stays clean everywhere. How can it be?

They really jaga kebersihan every where.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh yes, i kind of find their buildings are rather "slim tall" and neatly arranged along the streets.. very nice planning lah.. and yes, the place is very clean and you don't see any sampah sarap everywhere like what we are so used to see in Malaysia.. haha!! :D

      Delete
    2. That is why our country need more Tong Sampah than Japan. Hehehe.

Remember previous post you've mentioned? you said don't see any dustbin geh?

Last time, I try to see any toothpicks...but no lor. I can't find any.

    3. yalor, i think the japanese bring all the rubbish home and then sort them into different categories before throwing them.. hmmm, even the bottles, they have to take off the label and dispose them separately~~ very stressful hor?? @_@

      Delete
    4. For them is not a stress, they are well trained up! They know the rubbish is theirs, they are responsibility to handle their own rubbish. I don't think they brought home. E.g: sweets' paper, they eat the sweets and keep the sweet paper until they saw one tong sampah, they only throw it lor.

M'sian, tak kisah lar, buang aje. In their mind set - this is not my house compound anyway.

      Delete
    5. yalor, i agree with that.. they are so well brought up and educated for being responsible for their own rubbish.. over here, we are brought up in exactly the opposite way, just throw at other people's place and pretend you did not do it~~ :D

Sad la. Cannot see. Cannot spam.

Have to wait till balik from office.

Cos I'm lazy to spam using my phone. Hard to type fast. kekeke

Anyway, I think if the restaurants here put condiments out generously, some of the customers will cart them away.

I've seen people taking hot dog relishes at Ikea cafe in bottles/cups to bring back home. :(

Our society is not the "take what you need type" one.

  54. Photo A; Your Gyudon bowl was so big like a helmet size! You ate so much for brunch!!! I lost weight when I visited Japan for a week as I walked too much and ate so much lesser. You made a wise choice to spend only 450 YEN for a brunch that covered 2 meals!! That calculates to 225 YEN a meal. Smart Ah Boy!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. woke up late that's why not having breakfast but brunch.. i ate so much in Tokyo lah, though also walked a lot but then i think the input was more than output!! at least not all eating and no walking lah~~ hey, i think Anay spent even less than Thambee, Anay should list down how he can spend so little in Japan..

    2. We were just lucky lah. I brought so much cash there and came back to change the yen into MYR, I am not sure whether they still have this promo in Osaka. The Tourism Ministry offers tourists the 2 Day Pass at 2000 Yen which allows you to visit some 36 places in Osaka for FREE!!!! Plus free unlimited rides on all the subway trains in Osaka for 2 days!!!!!

The free entrances include boat cruise, Ferry Wheel (World Tallest), Ancient castle, 2 Best Hot Spring Spas and 30 other places!!!! It saved all our monies and made Anay go nuts!

      Delete
    3. that sounds nice Anay!! no wonder you spent so little for 6 days in Japan and you were travelling between Osaka, Kyoto and Nara!! i must remember to check this out when i go Osaka later..

  55. Photo B: There are many Ameya-Yokocho concept shops in their country to make shopping easier! We are so behind in terms of enviromental, town & building planning! Next time I must buy spy cameras to snap photos in these shops! I sure wanna snap the sex shop items to entertain the blog readers!

    ReplyDelete

    1. very true, they have good planning ahead and what they have planned to do, it will come out as the planned.. so unlike what we have here, big projects but after rounds of "evaluation" become family scale already..

anay, just buy stuffs from the sex shops and show us your loots, that will be enough to entertain the bloggers.. and more importantly "entertain" Letchumi~~ :D

  56. Photo C: When I first worked in KL, I joined the branch of Hakuhodo Advertising Agency. I worked under rigid minded department heads who don't allow you to think outside their creative box. That is why you see all their signs and ads are safe looking BUT very aggressive!!! I am glad Thambee likes their styles too.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh i didn't know that, now Anay mentioned that, the signboards are indeed quite the same style huh?? anyway, i love the way they placed them, that's a combination of mess and tidiness, haha, how zen!! :D

    1. yes, the rich ones will want to latest and the best, that is why they dispose off their gadgets fast.. i think mostly foreigners go there to get models that are not even available at their countries.. 2nd hand thumb drives?? Anay is hoping the previous hand has forgotten to delete off all the hamsap photos and movies?? :D

  58. Photo E: That huge lantern is really a famous icon for Tokyo and now I know it is located in Asakusa! I always mix up with the word "Aksaka" area. Hmmm.. I am taking notes of Ah boy's foot prints and will visit same places when I visit Tokyo someday.

    1. Anay have not been to Tokyo before?? yeah, that huge red lantern is one of the icon for Tokyo, must go there to take photos.. errr, where got Aksaka?? Akasaka (赤坂) you mean?? true, easily mixed them up~~

  60. Photo G: The lanterns in Sensoji are really neat and lovely to look! Are they fully lighted up at night? This our Oriental culture of using lighted lanterns and candles for auspicious reasons.

I am surprised they serve free Green tea to the public! They are normally so money faced - even to charge tokens to enter places of worships!

    ReplyDelete

    1. hmmm, i have no idea what they look like at night, i think the place is also closed at night.. errr, i think it was public holiday that day, and there was some events happening there, they served free green tea at a booth from 9am till 4pm.. aahh, so nice!!

  61. Photo H: What is the purpose of the huge straw sandal hanging there????? I has got me curious and interested for me to find out as I have seen several places in Malaysia putting straw sandals in quiet corners of their business premises. I suspected it had something to do with feng shui. I really saw it first at MPH Bookstore! It was placed on high self away from public eye view but anay tall lah, could see every kutu on people's heads too.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. no fengshui lah, BTW seldom hear the japanese talk about fengshui huh?? the straw sandals (waraji), or huge straw sandals (o-waraji) were offerings to shrines and temples in japanese tradition.. people offer waraji as part of their prayers, primarily for safe travel and health.. this pair of sandals at Sensoji each measures 4.5m in length, 1.5m in width and weighs about 500kg!!

    2. 500kgs!!!!!! Sure boh? Anay faints!

  63. Photo J: The Japanese are good in Art and apply creativity on anything to hang or flies above. In case you dunno, even the way they bathe in the Sento also got ART!!!!!

I think I saw the same fishes being sold at DAISO!!! You can buy them and give the HHBC bloggers!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. basically you can get many souvenirs from DAISO!! i saw lots of snacks there which are imported directly from Japan (not made in China).. of course, i won't just go to DAISO and get the souvenirs lah, what's the purpose.. i bought and carried all the way back from Tokyo dei~~

  64. Photo K: I must confess that I ran out souvenirs after my trip to Japan and Korea. So I went to 100 YEN shops and Korean Grocery to pick up extras to give some colleagues and in laws. Of course the HHBC got original stuffs air flown by Anay from Osaka.

  65. Photo L: I wonder if they have trees inside the Sky Tree?? It does not even look like a tree in any way. You should have posed and used your finger tip to touch its tower tip too like all those Tom, Dick & Harry taking photos. Muahahahahahaha

I kena tipu in Osaka to visit its impressive Sky Gardens!!!! We went and saw not a single leaf inside the rooftop of the building. It was more of an eco recycling exhibition place. That made me think that they love to imagine things like Ultraman and Godzilla!! Now have Sky gardens and Sky Tree!!!

  67. Photo N: talking about hamsap alleys, now I could guess why this kuku bird never blogged about his frequent working trips to China!!! He had too many forbidden places to blog. Anyway he is blardy lazy blogger lah....full stop.

I think the Neon Lights in Osaka's nightlife is more impressive than Tokyo unless Thambee didn't go to the most happening places at all! The one square in Osaka shocked me with its neon lights flicking in 360 degrees and I would say it looked better than Times Square in Manhattan.
