21.02.2013 | 孰真孰假

[Volume 8 Issue 2, #1674]
it happened in the same "Let's Go" hypermarket i went the other day.. when you see such a big "buy 2 for RM5.50", i am sure you'll get a little excited and thought there is something worth buying?? but look carefully, the unit price is just RM1.69, but why is it more expensive buying two?? even if you buy three of those, RM5.50 is more than enough!! this is really confusing, if i were to buy two, shall i then pay RM5.50 as indicated, or shall i pay only RM1.69x2=RM3.38?? is this an unintentional mistake, or it's actually a trap to cheat the consumers?? come on, it's still the chinese new year period, why all these pranks??

    1. shhh shh should not complain to manager leh. Just be more alert and buy...go custimer service claim back the money. Coz they honour which ever lower price mah...muahahaha

    2. Er? Then you'll only get (RM5.50 - RM3.38 = RM1.12 round down to ) RM1.10 back? Might as well complain the their manager so that no other consumers fall for the trap.

      Delete
    3. nah, i didn't buy that so i won't waste my time doing so.. i will only complain if i have paid more, and that's the only case i will complain.. paid less, then that's their problem~~ :p

  3. I will write to all hypermarkets to hire SK to be their watch dog to fish out all the errors on the shelf tags! You will be handsomely paid dei.

    2. Thambee is too free, took his leisure time to scan thoroughly the price tag. I must not go for shopping during my busiest time, I will get trapped into this situation. Will take Thambee as example - to compare and observe so those hypermarkets cannot take advantage of me :D

  7. Daylight robbery!!! Terrible those people over at your side.

Here, they will tell you e.g. 20 sen for one, 5 for RM1.00. Actually, no discount if you buy more but the way they say it, it would seem that there is and so one would buy more...only to discover later, after calculating, that one has paid the exact same price if one had bought one.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. very true, especially those stalls they will never tell you the unit price but just the bundle price.. and in the end, you will find out there is no bulk purchase discount at all.. very simple and common, the pisang goreng stall for instance, they always tell you 5 keping RM2.00 but never tell you 1 keping RM0.40.. that makes the customers always buy in bulks of 5 pieces..

      Delete
  8. Did you bring the items to the cashier to see which price is being registered? I would if I have the time. Someone over there has obviously failed his/her math in highschool..

    ReplyDelete

    1. nope, i didn't buy that actually.. and since i am not buying i don't even want to waste time to let them know the mistakes they have made..

  9. Good morning all.

I think it was merely a mistake. I used to buy yogurt drinks like this for my two girls. Two for RM5.50, meaning each RM2.75. 5 bottles of yogurt drinks cost RM2.75 is considered a steal. RM1.69 is far too cheap.

Mistakes would happen to anyone and anytime. May be during festive season, the workers work overtime and got too exhausted.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Mak Yannie, it's those small tubs of yoghurt and not those big bottles of yoghurt drink.. if it's 2 bottles of yoghurt drinks for RM5.50, then i will not hesitate to buy 10 bottles, haha!!

i think most probably they are trying to have "2 for RM2.50" promo but did a typo mistake and never realised that..

      Delete
  10. Tak faham...maybe means the Peach is RM1.69 while if wanna combine others will be RM5.50 for two?

what F/F means? Does it means buy two of the yogurt drinks for RM5.50 and on top of that get one Free Fruit Fruit Yogurt Melba 135g ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. no lah, i think most probably is a typo yet they did not realize at all.. maybe 2 for RM2.50 is more reasonable lah.. F/F means fat free lah, neh those N***le fat free yoghurt..

      Delete
  11. Each is RM1.69 but comes in a pack of two = RM3.38
If buy two packs of RM3.38x2=RM6.76
    Sale 2[packs] for RM5.50
    Savings of RM1.26

If like that boleh tahan as each cost only RM1.40 instead of RM1.69 BUT not likely or probably??? haha.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hmmm, no idea how they are selling that.. i think most probably it's a typo mistake.. i would say it may probably be "2 for RM2.50" lah..

  12. funny because I just mentioned in your previous entry that the incident that you complained will teach them a lesson.. well i guess it didn't worked out pretty well after all LOL

    3. haha, i didn't know but i guess my readers would be more aware of such "games" now~~

  13. oh and we're not referring to cents anymore.. this shop is really taking their "over pricing' strategy to another level haha

      Delete
    3. cannot say i am observant lah, because the font is so big there!! haha.. maybe i frequently buy yoghurt as snacks, so i know how much one tub can be.. 2 for RM5.50 is way too expensive lah, maybe it's a typo for "2 for RM2.50"??

    1. I do that for all promo items too.

Cannot trust system to be updated sometimes and such a hassle to point it out to the cashier, esp if cashier the grumpy/lazy type or when there is a long queue behind you.

      Delete
    2. that is why i always check the price at the scanning machine first, especially for promo items, they are 500% more prone to mistakes and errors, gotta watch out for those..

      Delete
  20. I think I know what it means. Every single piece cost RM1.69 but it's RM5.50 for 2 cartons. They should have written it clearly.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hmmm, but two cartons is how many items?? very confusing, but i guess probably it should actually be 2 for RM2.50?? make sense right since 2 and 5 is next to each other on the numpad..
