Good morning Thambee... This happens all the time and not just in hypermarkets. Even sports shop priced their items wrongly and I got away with a cheaper shoe.
ReplyDeleteGood morning everyone, ulala....Anay, you so quiet recently in Watsapp. What were you busy at?
DeleteGood morning, annay, Yannie, Hayley, HS, wenn, SP, Lina, Claire, STP and Thambee SK!
DeleteI'm not very observant and usually don't notice on the price variance, especially when involves a few cents. I must be more alert next time.
That's why when I'm at the cash register, I watch the register screen like a hawk.
DeleteAnd re-check the receipt afterwards.
I must now start learning from lina. I must watch the cash register with full concentration. I don't like being cheat though just a few cents.
Deleteof course have to be observant like Hawk Eye Lina!! if we get away with cheaper shoes then of course we keep quiet like Twilight Man, but if we are charged more, surely we will complain like SK.. pretty normal huh?? haha~~
DeleteGood morning. ..
DeleteAiyo I missed two posts ..
Woke up saw stp message say my blog git malware fr another blog. Deleted that link...now cannot sleep jor.
Yesterday also went shopping for j class party. Ya I alsi compared prices from two shops.
Have to check receipts coz hypermarkets often change prices without changing the tag . I kena many times . The tag at products say one price then at counter another price.
Usually do you point out the wrong amount at counter or at customer service? For me I will point out at customers service coz if point out at counter the cashier will need to call her colleagues to check the price. Then will delay. Other customers will give black face
我冇你咁小心。或者我系大忙人,懶惰睇啲細數目...
ReplyDelete應該話你係有錢人, 根本唔自在呢一角幾毫~~
DeleteI understand these problems started from the moment their stock control dept keyed in wrong prices on the bar codes for their goods. The other staff would later display the items on the shelves and simply paste the price tags. Most of the time they seldom double check their price tags.
ReplyDeleteyes, it always happened and especially on promo items.. they changed the price tag but then did not update the system, so when scanning it's still the old price without promo.. i definitely pay 200% attention on such items at the counters..
DeleteYa or the price increased but they forgot to change the tag.
DeleteI kena before. The only at the receipt show higher price. Go customers service they said price of the item increased that day. The staffs Did not change the display price. But in the end they had to honour the lower price.
But this also will have to see the people also. My friend and her dad kena bullied. Yhe Customers service die die say its higher price now. My friend and her dad were nit happy but hhey are the kind that seldom take complaints to higher level
These days it is tough to maintain the hypermarkets as they compete among themselves aggressively with slashed prices. Look at the best example of the French-Hypermarket being bought over by the Japanese company.
ReplyDeleteto be exact, it should be the the French hypermarket sold it to the Japanese company.. well, as long as things are still cheap, i don't care who owns it..
DeleteI am a very clumsy person. I never check one. But, luckily my jin jin is a very detailed person. He checked the receipt immediately and would also ask for refund if there was any misdiscrepancy.
ReplyDeleteI will look at the register screen and do mental calcultion to make sure everything tallies.
DeleteThis is especially for confusing items on sale like those Buy3 get items at special price and such. It won't show at the register but it'll be deducted only after all items are scanned. So confusing.
i pay extra attention to promotional items, because many times they just change the tag but did not update their system.. this is when most price discrepancies happen.. Mak Yannie is so lucky to have a detailed JJ, just like the ever alerted financial controller Lina~~ :D
DeleteGood morning SK and everybody!
ReplyDeleteIt's a sunny Tuesday morning! Everyone has back to work ya?
Hmm, to be honest, you're one of the very few guys I know who practice this.. I mean being very cautious for every single cents paid. Cause usually guys won't bother so much (especially only minor differences).... ;)
DeleteBeing 'too aunty' can be quite annoying la but think again, it can save us money for long term.. So years later SK will surely become a rich man! xD
DeleteSK is already a rich man! Don't look at the small amount of the "few cents", sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit. It directly translates to, "start small and it builds up to a mountain".
DeleteIt's the principle of it, not so much as saving a few cents.
DeleteFOr me lah...
no lah, this doesn't happen always lah, so i dont have so many to accumulate, haha!! but yeah, i definitely agree with lina.. sometimes it's all about principle and not so much of that few cents.. of course i wouldn't mind those few cents, but come to think of it, why should we pay more when they are the ones making the mistakes right??
DeleteThat is careless of them. I'm not a shopper who goes back to the long receipt to check prices. I could have been a price-discrepancy victim and not knowing it. :(
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I too would go back to claim the difference if I'd spotted it. Good morning!
i think it's not uncommon because it's not easy to maintain an entire hypermarket also.. so being a smart consumer to report the discrepancy, it is three fold.. i help myself, other consumers, as well as the hypermarket itself to correct the mistakes..
DeleteThat's true, that's how they earn our money!!! =[
ReplyDeleteactually i don't think it's their intention perhaps just not updated their system~~ :)
DeleteI encountered many price-discrepancy cases in one of the hypermarket in my town here. The price shown on the rack was different from the scanner-on-the-counter.
ReplyDeleteBut I didn't claim the few cents from their customer service because I was in a hurry. I made my grocery shopping during my lunch hour.
But there was once, the price of a toy was slashed down to 50% off in this Let's Go hypermarket. My mother promised to buy a toy for my daughter, which was priced at RM89.90.
DeleteAt the counter, we were surprised we only needed to pay RM44.95 for it! I recalled seeing another toys nearby was sold at RM44.95.
Er, I didn't go back to report to its customer service :p
hahaha, pretty common lah.. we always expect to buy things at the lower price right?? so when we get things cheaper, we take that for granted.. but when we get things more expensive than it should be, we make noise.. that's a common human~~ :p
DeleteI really must check my receipts. People keep telling me about these things happening especially at the big supermarkets and hypermarts but I never bother. Curse on them if they cheat me - they will go bankrupt and close shop soon. Pity this poor old pensioner - already not enough money to make ends meet and they still want to cheat me. Cilaka betul!!! Tsk! Tsk!
ReplyDeleteyeah indeed, because business is competitive so they have to always change their price to attract customers.. the discrepancy happens when either the tag or the system isn't updated accordingly.. so, always look at the cash register and double check your receipt..
DeleteMost times I never check unless the bill came to a hefty sum... next time I must also check.. thanks for the reminder though.. :)
ReplyDeleteit's a good habit to check your receipt.. of course you may not notice minor differences, but if you notice some differences, it would be a big amount already.. agree??
DeleteNowadays, gotta check price of items at supermarkets like watching the stock market. A lot of items fluctuates up and down one! Must know when to stock up when certain items cost less. And not to buy when it is at RRP. ;)
Deletea cent is still a cent and it has a value.... so whether we are referring here with a cent or two.. it still makes a difference..
ReplyDeleteyeah, a cent saved is a cent earned.. sometimes it's not really about the value, but our own principles..
Deleteor maybe the tags were outdated? It happens all the time in a nearby supermarket here in our place...
ReplyDeletei think most probably the tag is correct but the system is not updated accordingly.. could be the other way round too..
Deleteyes, i think you did the right thing... it is not about how big or small the amount is as long as there is a discrepancy.. you have the rights to complain
ReplyDeleteyes, exactly!! not really about the money but the rights we deserved and the principles we hold right?? :)
Deleteit will also serve as their lesson to prevent such thing from happening again
ReplyDeletehaha, i won't say it's a lesson, but then by reporting the discrepancy, we make them realize their mistakes and straight away they will get it corrected.. helping them as well as other consumers too.. :)
Deletehappy blogging buddy
ReplyDeleteyou have a great day and happy blogging too~~ :)
Deleteyeah, that mistake do happen even in my shop. But we don't use the point of sales system. The problem is my people used to put the price tag wrongly. And sometimes we might key in the wrong pricing too when we are not careful.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i think only supermarkets and hypermarkets are using POS and barcode, they did not tally the tags and their system.. hmmm, your business is getting bigger, can consider that to minimize human mistakes right?? :)
Deleteit is a part of "marketing tactics" loh~
ReplyDeletehaha, are you sure it's marketing tactics or marketing cheats?? :D
Deleteoh that happened to me too,
ReplyDeleteI remember my aunt ask me to shop for some items
and since she gave me limited budget i really
calculated it all
but to my surprise the price encoded on the items was different from
what is on the receipt which i paid
by the way i end up walking a few
Deleteblocks beacuse of it hahaha
the money left isnt enough to get a ride
haha
you went shopping again huh
Deleteand noticed another thing huh
you notice a lot that's a clear sign of being a blogger haha
I think stores must be strict in this,
ReplyDeleteI mean they must ensure their costumer that
the price on the shelfs were the same with the
counter prices even how little the differences is it matters
this can be considered dis loyalty on the consumers
ReplyDeleteand it was against the law too i guess haha
but i bet nobody will complain about it since it was
just a few cents after all
but I totally agree on you sk this few cents will soon be big
ReplyDeletegain for them and that's really ain't good
they must update their price tags
this is why i prefer those items with individual price stickers
ReplyDeletei mean they would be a lil bit conscious on the price coming out on their cashiers
but perhaps if this only happened once
ReplyDeletei bet it was just an honest mistake
perhaps they havent update the price on the shelf or something
but either way it was still a mistake and
Deletethey must do something about it
my appologies for the delayed comment it's just that
ReplyDeletei've been quite busy haha
have great and god blessed day sk,
ReplyDeletetake the best of care and happy blogging too
你都幾眼利,換作係我一定做咗水魚
