我的美食相集 My food album: [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ]
i remember there was once i was so obsessed with food, not eating but just obsessed with taking photos of food, basically any food that was laid in front of me, until i was carrying my camera almost everywhere i went (since i haven't got a good smartphone that can take nice photos back then).. having thought about this, i think i should apologize to friends whom i may have spoiled their eating mood, haha!! looking at my folder i actually find tons of food photos taken during that time (many i wonder why the heck i wanted to take snaps of), but the number of food photos i have taken lately isn't even 5% of that.. not that i've lost interest, i still like food photography, perhaps the passion isn't that intense anymore?? or most likely i rarely (can afford to) eat nice food now, haha!! of course when i take a food photo, i intend to blog about it, but seems like you hardly see food posts in my blog now huh?? hehe, sorry to foodies and food lovers, even if i blog about food probably nobody will like to read since i'm so lousy in this area.. just that i do not want to repeatedly "report" what i eat or do everyday anymore, but only about things more special or meaningful to myself, or particularly things that i have stories to tell.. i always try to be different, i guess i write what i like, but readers drop by and read what they may not like (and still courteously leave a comment), haha!! that is why i write about different topics and not limiting myself to a theme, i believe variety is the essence, i won't get bored myself and more varied topics can attract more readers to interact with me?? geez~~ :p

  2. "...repeatedly "report" what i eat or do everyday..." Ouch!!! I'm not the only one though and a blog is one's domain - up to the individual to do what he or she wants.

    1. So what if you report what you eat daily?? Don't small gas la, he or she was just being frank with no bad intentions. I still busy body and love to know what you eat and how many gifts you collected & from where by whom and what next, here and here... Muahahaha I love STP! You certainly add colours to the blogging world.

    2. I am really laughing my ass out, oops, typo.. I mean laughing out loud now, TM.. You left out some words:
      1) No thank you
      2) Somebody said, or somebody mentioned
      3) Can't afford to dine here (but still eating out everyday wor) kekekeke...

    3. STP, if you are reading this, don't small gas ahh.. Hehehe.. It shows I can remember what you always write, and I stalk your blog too :)

    4. Thank you, thank you. Come, come...comment in my blog...no need to comment here. Hehehehehehe!!!!

    5. i wasn't pinpointing anyone when i was writing this post, it's just what i think about my own blog.. of course i agree, everyone has their rights to do what they like, and i respect that - same case to how other people see my blog too :)

i actually find our Sibu Food Mayor a wonder, he can have so much to write about the food that he eats daily, and what's more, i always love to see the gifts he was given by his friends all around the world - how sweet!! and this proves that he is indeed a nice person liked by many..

hehehe, LouizYee, you quoted STP's famous quotes?? must pay royalty fees~~ :p

      Delete
    6. Hahaha, siapa makan cili, dia rasa pedas. But hor, STP has many creative ways to blog about his foodies all the time. Never get bored. His site is not only to browse nice and comfort food around SIbu and other places but he did shared his stories behind the scene....

  3. "...i haven't got a good smartphone that can take nice photos back then..." That was me too!!! And I was attacked left, right and centre about my horrible photos. Who cares! Can't please everybody but gotta please myself.

The photos got better after sometime when I inherited a digicam from my daughter - got her a new one and I took over her old one.

    1. Who? Who? Who attacked you left, right and centre about your horrible photos? I always praised you one lah.

I must admit that SK's food photos were very well taken with the right suitable angles. He was not even trained from photography school yet he possessed the flair like STP. My job often required me to hire professional photographers to shoot interiors and food photos to perfection. So I was trained to direct and observe the photographers with most critical mouths. LOL

If I praised someone, then I was sincere otherwise I would gag my mouth with socks.

      Delete
    2. I never fail to laugh at TM's comments..

Wait, did you just say gag your mouth with socks? First, it was "burn your workers alive", then it was calling your sis a bimbo, and now, gag your mouth with socks? Hmm, what's next?

    3. Lucky thing not his underwear. Muahahahahahaha!!!!

    4. before i have this phone i used to carry my camera so that i can take nicer photos of the food.. initially i didn't even know how to use the "flower" mode, so all my close ups are out of focus.. until one day a friend taught me, and voila!!! since then i was so happy with all the close ups using the "flower" mode.. but now with my phone, everything is automatic, and very convenient too, i don't bring my camera with me anymore..

LouizYee, our Twilight Man will never fail to make you laugh and turn you on huh?? hehehehe, good lah, make sure you drop by for more jokes from TM~~ :D

      Delete
    5. Woi, SK, why you always say I am turned on one? So far only 2 things ma.. By smart guys with intellectual brains and by guys who put on (good quality) fragrance...

      Delete
    6. hahaha, only that two things meh?? i thought humorous guys will also turn you on?? hehe, wokay wokay, if i say you like that means you quite cheap hor?? ooopsss, sorry lah, don't small gas lah~~ :p

    7. HAHAHA

I also thought LouizYee gets turned on easily. Sorry sorry!

  4. I would say your food pics look really good - very nice angles...very much nicer than some that I see in some blogs, even those where they blog about food! Sometimes, it's the person not the equipment, you agree? And hey!!! I'm talking about cameras, if you please.. Hehehehehe!!!!!

    1. Sometime with bad camera, people with good camera shooting skill still can take very good pictures, cause I saw it before, was surprise how my friend did it last time!!! =]

Like some of friend use super advanced , expensive DSLR, but without good shooting skill, the pictures still look like nothing...

      Delete
    2. Agree 100%!!!

      Delete
    3. hey, it's the person and not the camera lah.. if the person is a skillful photographer, even a lousy camera would be enough to take a nicer photo than a lousy photographer with high tech DSLR.. i always believe this.. at least the DSLR will not choose the best angle for you right?? :p

      Delete
    4. Nope, when I look at those pictures, I don't believe he used DSLR to take it….cause really…..speechless…..

    2. yeah, last time i was really obsessed with any food, and blog them so frequently until people label me as a foodie blogger, haha!! but now, i think i'm not so interested in writing about food.. though i may still take photos of food - keep them so that they can be used when i can't think of anything to blog about :D

  6. I'm not good in food post......beside yummy or not yummy...then don't know what to write already...

    1. Regarding of taking pictures on what you eat everyday, I read a research news before, one of the way people successfully slim down because they took a picture of what they eat every time, and before start their next meal, they look back what have they eat of the day, so from that they can deciede whether need to cut down or eat more on their next meal!!!

      Delete
    2. hahaha, i just read your food post about the lunch you had with your sister.. really only "yummy" and "not yummy" only woh, haha!! like that i think at least i am better than you lah.. though, i seldom blog about food already if it's just the common thing..

errrr, i don't quite agree with that research woh.. i don't think taking photo and looking at them will help cut down eating.. instead, i think they will make us feel more hungry and then eat more and get fatter!! :D

      Delete
    3. Hahaha, that's right, so don't hope from any restaurant recommendation from me….definitely pointless….

      Delete
    4. No lo, apparent that's true research result, but forgot what uni did the research already, it was around August something….

      Delete
    5. haha, i won't recommend or ask people not to go to a restaurant i went lah.. i'll just tell my experience, and it's up to the readers to judge themselves.. after all, i also rarely write reviews of food and eateries also now..

oh, really?? but i am still not very convinced with that research leh.. :p

      Delete
    6. Somebody take photos all the time at the food he/she ate but I don;'t think that somebody slimmed down at all! *evil laugh*

    1. I admit I also take food pictures when I am eating out, but that's only when I eat out with my hubby la.. You know, just to store the pictures in my hp as remembrance..

And mana tau, can take back those pictures to write a post in my blog when I have run out of things to write *grin*

      Delete
    2. I'm not good in writing about the food I eat out, coz my smartphone not canggih enuff, so I'm not really expert in food photography lor..
I'm only good at taking photos of my home cooked food, wakakaka.. Basic chin tan, chau choy photos..Sometimes blurry..

    3. if you eat out with your bosses, and when the food comes, do you say "wait, let me take photo first" ? No lor, kan? Hehehehe...

      Delete
    4. I like to see pictures and posts of food... But I myself am not good in blogging about it (unless my own cooking la), coz in the first place, I seldom eat out liao after having 2 kids..

My own cooking can la.. Coz it's home cooked.. It's supposed to have that "not-so-perfect" look la.. (pickup back the sand).. kekeke... It's easy to blog about homecooked food.. Can write more...
1st paragraph can write grandmother stories and say oh, last weekend, we just stayed home, yada yada yada..
Then 2nd paragraph can post the picture of the dish...
3rd paragraph can write about the recipe and ingredients
4th paragraph can write about the taste, hubby puji until got sky no ground, etc... hahahahaha..

      Delete
    5. errr, can say this post is about food, and also can say it's not about food lah.. or more precisely, how i see food posts, haha!! nowadays, not so excited to take photos of food like last time when i started blogging lah.. only if it's meaningful or special to me, or something really delicious then i will take a photo.. but i guess if i go travel, i think will take photo of all the food lah, for remembrance as you said..

i am not good in writing about food lah, cos my description will be very lousy.. and whether i love to read food posts, errr, of course i like to especially if the photos are nice and the food are good.. but one important factor would be, not repeatedly the same thing lah..

errr, eat with boss also can take photo mah.. depends if you have good relationship with your boss, and that your boss is a nice person or not lah.. haha, so all your food post will be pretty standard already lah?? haha, then i know your structure and can just read fast but know what you want to tell~~ :p

      Delete
    6. Eh, no la.. not always standard ma. sometimes I omit the recipes and measurement coz I agak agak in all my cooking.. I malas wana follow recipes..

My style is: Cooking the smart & easy way, Louiz's style! Stylo-milo ma... So whatever I can find from the fridge, I can whip up a meal la..

      Delete
    7. you are right!! cooking is an art but not a science.. so it's more fun to agak-agak and improvise than following exactly the recipe and measurements..

    2. yeah, i think we get bored if we keep doing the same thing huh?? we gotta salute those who can do the same thing over and over again but never get bored of that.. haha!!

  15. I used to take photos every s.i.n.g.l.e time and most probably blogged about it each time too.

Then I came to a point that I feel like, it's no point to highlight what same food I eat daily. Maybe same food, different dates for like a 3-month gap is OK la for me. Not veryday. But hey! That's just me.

Food blogs that cover different topics daily is different la. At least even for us readers, we get different things to read and to comment. Same thing, over and over and over and over again, I just give "look good" and "yummy" comment just for the sake of commenting. Not good also la....

agree!! at least different topic but not repeatedly reporting activities and tastes.. else i also have no idea how to leave a comment already, the most mind cracking moments to comment about food that i see so frequently.. :D

that's a good one!! if people ever asked why all your comments are the same, then just reply, because you blog the same thing again~~ :D

    6. Yeah agreed too, keep giving comments like yumz, yummy and everyhting look good was like kinda boring too. It seems like got nothing to say anymore besides giving good comments.

Yeah be like our Food Mayor, telling stories behind it, then most probably the readers will have more to say...

    1. Well, taking photos of the food before I eat it is something I usually do, of course special food la, not all the food is necessary to take photos of, haha xD
I call this 'homework', or, 'feed my camera first' ^^

    2. To me, to take good food photos, we must a good quality camera, so phones are usually not recommended, lagi lagi la my iPhone 4s, the quality sucks la! (as you can see in my recent baking post, all photos taken with my phone).
If the quality sucks then the food also turn out not to be inviting/appetizing. But to carry a camera with us anytime anywhere seems tedious pula~
So sometimes I just don't bother and shoot the food with my phone's camera also la~ haha xD
And another factor is the angles of the photos la.. hehe~

    3. Hmm, I think you are a good food blogger also la! The photos you took are quite nice wert! And I remember the food review you wrote before, also quite detailed, and the words are pretty appropriate too!

errr, you are using iPhone 4S somemore, for sure can take nicer photo than my iPhone 4 lah.. all my photos these couple of years were taken using my phone woh, i find them good enough.. even when i go travel i just brought my phone and take as many photo as i like.. hehehe, again, it's the person and not the camera lah~~ :p

errr, if i am to write food posts, probably need to spend more time to think about how to describe, but i guess now i tend to talk less about the food but stories associated with the food.. for example: this food reminds me of some story, should be nicer to read and feel more warm than just telling you this food is nice or not nice right?? :)

  23. When I first starting my blog, most of the time I blog about food. Where I eat, with who and etc. Well it is a new thing to me that time, so I was like "hangat hangat tahi ayam" and I feel excited to blog about it too. At least, friends who read my blog will found nice food when they come to Taiping. Furthermore, that time I was only using Canon Ixus to snap every foodie photo. When time passes by, my hubby also feel irritated that I keep snap photos where I go to eat. Sien lor...even my son also will say "don't always snap snap mummy, later daddy scold again" @_@

    1. That was all the first time lar, then later on we also snap photos and food during any wedding dinners, annual dinners and so on. See, more foodies post here and there. One or two is still acceptable but I try not to repeat all the same thing together again and again. For example, when I have dinner gathering with Y&Y sistas and Hayley. We will usually snap photos too, with each other lar, later when the food we ordered came, we snap some more. Most of the time, we all are ready with our cameras on our hand. Juts wait for the time to snap. "Chik Chiak!". At the end of the dinner, any one of us will vonlunteery to blog about the gathering and the food post. Or else, I would tell them that I'm busy lately, so one of them will post on behalf of us. So finally, we only one post from one of us, rather than the same topic, same post and same photos from 4 of us. Even same to FB, we just tag them. This is a good way too.

    2. It would be a good idea to blog about foodie post along with event, who you are going with, where is it? or why you are they? Is it a recommendation from friends and so on. Just elaborate some, I;m sure many of us will turn on to read and enjoy looking over all the drools yummy food. Just keep it short and simple. Hehehe, easy for people to read and understand as well.

  24. Then I prolong with my baking and cooking skill post. I love to share my step by step baking or cooking process to everyone. At the same time, I scared I'll bored you guys here. I'm sure they aare some of you would love to try the recipe and would love to see what is the process and tips that shared. I admit I'm not a professional, but I try to deliver whatever I learnt from my experiences. In my opinion, if no one read and leave comments I don't mind too because, it is a good references for myself. For those who leave comments, I really appreciate all your efforts of doing so.

  25. Dear SK, same here, I love taking food I ate too last time, now I seldom do so, because I find the food I eat is not very special to snap picture. Unless I eat something special, then I will snap. I will only take picture with my phone camera.

By the way, I went through some of the comments above, I couldn't help laughing at some.
