Just Back Home from An Outstation Trip
some bloggers wondered why i have been so quiet lately?? errr, have i been quiet?? i have regular new posts and i have comments left for every new posts of other blogs.. probably i seem to be quiet because i have not been replying to comments since more than a month ago?? ooopsss, paiseh lah, i am really still finding time to do that (but i read all comments actually), the former tasks come in priority first, as i have always mention, hehe.. anyway, i am indeed just back home from an outstatin business trip, can't get (free) wifi and i just had to rely on my phone to bloghop and surf the internet, hence even the comment chart was not updated.. back home last night and i made sure all things are back on track and instantly drafted this post, so you see only this very short and brief and "dry" post today.. where have i been?? three photos below for you to guess, no souvenirs though if you manage to guess it right, haha!! have a great weekend ahead folks!! :)

  2. Yeah we all wondered what happened to you.
We had lots of wild thoughts like:

    1. you got married
    2. You went back to India
    3. You are fed up and no replies in comments
    4. Chart updates late
    5. Love sick

We suggest to potong markah on you. So you have to contra and give us more marks!! Your blog macam auto-pilot now! LOL

So you actually went to harvest padi.

    1. How come your padi field has no scare crows standing there? It would make a good photo shot that way. It would be the best colour of greens before the rice is matured. Once harvested, they turn brown and dusty.
Anyway, I find it interesting to see different padi fields in Malaysia, Bali and Japan where they have different methods to plant and design their natural water irrigation canals. Of the 3 places, the geographical contours of the padi fields in Bali is most beautiful with their layered fields. I heard there are similar and prettier ones in Kunming or Yunan areas in China but I have yet to visit those places.

    2. All your food photos looked delicious but you didn;t rate them! I bet they must be as good as it looks. Those rural hawkers are more simple minded, traditional and generous in their ingredients. It has been over a decade I have not visited the small towns. What did you do there? You plan to buy a few acres of rice fields and 12 buffaloes as dowry for your coming wedding with Kamala??? You wanna book Chris Kurage and me to be your Heng Tais??? We can wear turbans and doti to follow you in bullock carts to fetch Kamala!!! Muahahaha
Chris will stand behind all your photos as usual and pretend like sotong. Wakakakaka

    3. I see Pomelo trees and I could only think of Menglembu plantations! So you went there and bought a lorry load of pomeloes!!! Remember to peel the skins and cover your mouth tonight for safety preventions. It is good to spring clean your house and use the skin to rub the doors, tables and your head too, so that the unseen won't disturb lah! Muahahaha

    4. I used to study about water irrigation for the subject of Geography during my secondary school and college days

      Delete
    5. Oh Libby is a Geography expert! So could you guess the places SK went to?
I could guess the rice field was in Sekinchan which has the highest rice yield in our country today. As for the pomeloes, it could be the trees in Tambun and he hentam all the yummy food in Ipoh town before heading home!

    6. LOL....laughing at your speculations . Wei...if thamby got married without telling us ah..i think we have to chop him up into 18 pieces and make into pau leh How can not inform us!

as for balik india it is possible la. After all it has been more than 10years since he last seen his homeland lor. Sure rindu punya mah

good timing going to paddy field now.The other day i went they just harvested. Looks like not they have planted the seedling. But still i would wish to see the paddy when it is ripe and ready to be harvested

Woi...you now kamching with Chris Kurage only la. What about my Dai Kun Jie position. I still have the fan leh. Waiting to fan SK's fire so that he faster marry Kamala. Muhahaha

Hmmm....good idea wor borong one lorry of pomelo back to KL. Now mooncake festival will be coming in a month. can start selling now leh. Pomelo keep 2-3 weeks baru eat will be much sweeter. Especially when the skin wrinkled up like an old granny that time leh

  3. Yes, I was also wondering what happened to you as you always responded to all the comments, or at least most of the comments on your posts. Then, all of a sudden, you seems mising in action although I still see you commenting in my posts. hahhahaha... First thought that came to me is likely you are busy with work and could be grinding out OT every nights. Afterall, this is a peak period especially in the IT line, before the school holidays starts in November where everybody take leave.

As mentioned, me too, I was busy with lots of stuffs including work and my trainings as well as personal stuffs. I also cut down on my posts.

He brought the pomeloes to eat by himself. So sweet and juicy! He forgot about Anay! Good bye cruel world......!

  6. Working outstation can be tough especially if you are located in a rural area. To get food, you needed to drive out to the town area and there are not many varieties for food. And, if you are late, after the 'meal times', the stalls or coffee shops usually packed and that can be very inconvenienced.

Once I was at the hollow town of Sg Lembing and it's so difficult to find food after 2pm, luckily we managed to find a kopitiam still serving ala carte cooked food.

In addition, high tech stuffs like what you mentioned, wifi and data access definitely will not be as good as in the city. You will be lucky if you got connected. Even the phone reception is poor or no lines at certain areas. That happened to me when I was holidaying in SG Lembing many years ago. I hope it has improved now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Fulamak! Sg Lembing is a rural town and not a seafood haven like Sekinchan and foodies enclave like Ipoh. SK went to harvest some padi and then fished some Kurage and fishes for his dinner in Ipoh.

      Delete
    2. how to harvest paddy la...see the photo the paddy still seedlings leh. But rural area or what..knowing SK he will be well prepare la. Most likely bring along his homemake sandwich, bihun and cookies to munch lah while working hard. This fella is perfectionist mah. Mana mungkin kebuluran.

  7. When I saw the first pic, the place came to my mind is Sekinchan. But wait a minute, Sekinchan is just an hour or less drive from KL, so you don't really have to stay overnights there unless you are doing night shifts. hahaha...

Thus, next, I guess it must be some places in Kedah, since there has the most paddy fields. Of course, many states have at least some paddy fields so it's not easy to guess based on that piece of paddy field in the pix. It could be Thailand too!

But somehow I love the calmness and serenity of a large space fielded by greenery. Yes, it will definitely looks great if it's in yellow during the harvest season. Green and Yellow with the big blue sky will make a pictureque pi!x

  8. Second pix....got prawn noodles , kway teow soup and ...errr... I can't make up what the other two dishes, the first one looks like beef noodles. I guess this must be Penang or Bukit Mertajam or Butterworth cos I saw CKT and Prawn noodles. But then all these foods available throughout Malaysia but if you purposely show it here, I think it's these three places la... must be up North!! hahahah...

The food all looks so good but as I mentioned, its a bit hassled to drive 45 mins to the city for lunch. By the time you guys returned, I am sure all of you got hungry again....muahahahahahah....

    No Laksa?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Wah, report duty post.. I like.. No ahh, I don't think you are quiet, coz I still see you reply in other blogger's post.. Everyone also got own things to do ger la.. 1. Second picture I can only identify some food.. Beef noodles, prawn mee, fish soup and the last one? Looks like some kinda stew..Oooohhh, kai si hor fun, Ipoh la wei...

    2. Fuiyoh, got pomelos.. Don't eat so much, later "sap yit".. Eh, I'm not a fan of pomelo.. Not much juice, I mean not juicy, and some bitter one.. But I know if some ahh, nice then really nice.. But I dunno how to "yan seong" pomelo..

If me ahh, I prefer my usual chicken biscuits (chewy), shat kei ma and heong peang.. All time favourites !

  10. The third pix easy la.... confirmed its Ipoh!! So, you have been travelling up north to several places to work eh? No wonder you are so busy this month. Servicing one place after another can be very tough as well as overseas. And you also needed to rush to another place , thus have to finish the work fast else it will delay your trip.

Oh..speaking about pomelo, it's been a while since I had it. I am from Ipoh thus I always got nice, big juicy pomelos during CNY from my relatives who got 'lobang' for those good and cheap ones. Yummy... And, I also get some for my in laws to score points..muahahahaha....

  11. So, has your business trip ended? I hope so, where you can stayed at home again and go back to your original routines. I am sure you miss home especially your bed ....hahahaha... It's always not nice to sleep on other beds in the hotels.

I guess it's ok to go for business trips once in a while to gain life and work experiences but not too much. Anyway, for the latter, you can earn a lot of $$$ if you always on the travel like some of my rich friends. They earn lots of travel commissions!

    1. Then I looked at the food you had. The you mentioned koay teow soup. That would be Ipoh, right? Just recently saw koay teow soup in Claire's blog.

    2. Then I saw pomelo. Ah....if I remember correctly Ipoh or more specifically Tambun is famous for pomelo, a fruit that I don't really like.

      Delete
    3. If you were in Ipoh, then you would have capitalized on your time after work to seek out the cheap and good food. I always read and hear about good food in Ipoh.

      Delete
    4. I don't think food is cheap in Ipoh already. I miss the old times there where food are delicious and cheap. Anyway, still you can look for auntie Claire who will bring you out for some nice food and white kopi.

Kway teow chicken soup is associated with Ipoh ... likely Ipoh la... SK must be doing big project there.

    1. #1 Sekinchan paddy field? So many people going to Sekinchan in Selangor, just like so many people coming to Port Weld in Taiping. You were passing by this place when travelling to the north right?

      Delete
    2. #2. Woot! You were in Ipoh? Those noodles look like what we have here. But, I think you are not in Taiping, otherwise you sure would let all Taiping aunties know.

    3. #3. Pomelos is also famous in Ipoh. Another hint that you were in Ipoh last week.

    4. Anyway, you are not back on track again. No worries about replying comments. I understand when you have other priority line up ahead.

    5. If you were in Sekinchan, you can buy their pearl rice. Then you can cook Japanese bento to bring to office.
If you were in Ipoh, you can pomelos to make salad to in your office.

      Delete
    6. If you were in Taiping, Yannie will buy you all local goodies to let you feast in office with you colleagues. Therefore, please remember to give me a shout if you happen to drop by Taiping.

      Delete
    7. Definitely it's not Taiping else SK will post the Bukit Larut pixs or Taiping Lake Gardens as well as Char kway teow and Lobak.

Yannie ...wah ..so nice to SK. maybe I visit you too during CNY ....muahahaha.... as well as can visit the gorgeous Hayley. Taiping is famous for affordable delicious food. It's been a long while I didn't go there, miss that place.

Back to the subject, it's not Taiping la. Probably Ipoh.... got pomelos, prawn noodles, paddy field...hmm... Ipoh no paddy field wor... unless slightly north ? Got some in the north Perak.

    1. Everyone said SK was in Ipoh, not Taiping la! If he was in Taiping, and he didn't inform us, aunties. then I know SK is only interested in Sweet Young Things. But, I am not sure whether he contacted Claire or Wenn in Ipoh or not.

      Delete
    2. Yea, no news from him at all. SK should hv told us so that we could give him a good treat after his work.

      Delete
    3. No la, I guess he was in Tambun. Tambun = po lok as far as I know...

I just saying, he said need 45 minutes from the city (Ipoh), Tambun where got so far... if 45 minutes can from Ipoh can reach Taiping already... maybe 45 minutes in bad traffic jam then yes lah...

      Delete
    4. hello..Tambun is in Ipoh la... to reach tambun from Ipoh town centre will takes around 20 mins depending on the jam... hahaha...

Anyway, don't expect to find tambun biscuits there except the Lost World resort! It's a hilly small place near to the titiwangsa range.

      Delete
    5. OMG!!! I enjoy watching the clowns battering away about Ipoh and Tambun. What Chris said is so precise and there is no need to jam all the way to Tambun which is in Ipoh. I thought that Tambun sells a lot of road side pomeloes and local produce but the pomeloes are grown in Menglembu orchards. No meh???

    1. I have been cracking my head too until I gave up. Everywhere seems possible. All I know is that Sekinchan is in Selangor state and we exit from Sabak Bernam to head to this sleepy fishing village. They grow the most rice in our country today.

      Delete
    2. SK's silence is deafening... muahahahaha.... faster reveal the answers or it could be in his next post.... I like Sekinchan, been there once but it was such a nice place. Got beautiful paddy fields on one side and a nice beach on the other side. Even a SG serial was filmed there!

      Delete
  19. Shredded chicken kway teow soup that you highlighted must be Ipoh lah. Then Pomelo confirm is Ipoh but I don't know any place with paddy field 45 mins away from Ipoh. Sekinchan is that new Ipoh meh? I really don't know. Will you be telling us the answer? Hah, I am back to commend d so I will go back to your previous posts to leave comments there.

    1. Sekinchan is definitely closer to Ipoh, if compared to KL. We can say that Kampar and Bidor are not far from Menglembu. Sekinchan is considered their perimeter too. The food, fruits and cottage industry chicken biscuits tend to look similar in that area. We can never find someone producing chicken biscuits in Penang.

    2. After reading the comments from most of the folks here, I conceded defeat. SK is in Ipoh. Me, being an Ipoh boy, didn't recognise the food ... sigh .... so pathetic me! hahha... though I recognise the pomelos la.. I thought SK has been travelling from place to place in the north. But paddy field in Ipoh ? hmmm... But it cannot be Sekinchan... the paddy fields are way much better looking than this one, unless SK's camera sucks...muahahahaha...

      Delete
    3. The padi fields only look good at its best greens when before harvest. Did you read SK's copy before saying his camera sucks? I think your PC screen is dirty and need a good wiping lah! Muahahaha

    4. adui....how cannnn Chris. You from Ipoh cannot recognise Ipoh Food ah. Like that must go back Ipoh more often la rather than during Chinese New Year Sure Claire now retired jor will bring you eat all the good food that you missed.

    1. I also thought that the best pomeloes have always been from Tambun. Many plantations elsewhere tried to grow them but the quality was different. Some concluded that the soil and water factors influenced the growth of sweeter pomeloes like Tambun's standard. Anyway, someday someone would be able to grow them to the higher quality.

Just like grapes and the vineyards that have been sprouting across Thailand. It was unheard of many decades ago in Thailand until their Agricultural experts could identify the suitable areas and conditions to grow them. Now they are exporting wines from Thailand!

      Delete
    2. That's a nice discussion. It also brings me back to Ipoh hor fun where many believe it's the water that able to produce such smooth noodles. Back to pomelo, could it be the traders or rather the farmers kept the best seeds to themselves that the good ones cannot be find elsewhere? It's still the same climate anyway. Soil? hmmm... it's the same land throughout Malaysia. Valleys are be found elsewhere too.

      Delete
    3. Many nursery plants around Selangor are selling pomelo trees and saplings for home growers. There is nothing secretive and protected these days as even Musang King Durian trees are available anytime! You should grow a pot of musang king in the pot at your Singapore abode. Muahahaha

      Delete
    4. I am not well verse about pomeloes but I do know that the best pomeloes are from Ipoh. Guarantee sweet. Not like some pomelo here that are so sour till eyes also cannot open once you bite it.

Many people failed to carry out their time management well as their determination is lacking somewhere. Sometimes I also got carried away while the time is ticking away. I often asked and reminded myself the purpose of living in this world. So we are here as friends!

So when do you want to make a visit to see padi fileds in Sekinchan and show your kids? They can also pluck real pomeloes and thereafter eat the famous food there in IPOH!!!

  31. Oh, outstation business trip...
Reminds me of my 'business trip' last time when I was working... Erm cannot say business trip also la, macam too grand liao, I am not a business woman afterall :p
Should say, working comes learning trip =)

I went to KL like 2-3 times, then another one farther one is Malacca. It was my first job, and first time following someone else (my employer and superior) to work outstation, kinda miss home and hubby that time, haha! Luckily no kids yet that time else sure homesick kao kao!

Ok so you said you went to Ipoh and Seberang Perak (never heard of the latter one though I am a Perakian :p).
That paddy field looks beautiful! Such a green scene! Good for the eyes! And I bet the air there is very fresh and smells good too ya?

Oh that few bowls of noodles sure looks delicious! Especially the hor fun! Then the bottom right photo, is it fried fish? Quite a lot oo!

Pomelo! Haha not hard to guess la~ Remember I said I went to Ipoh recently? My MIL bought 2 big pomelos, she loves pomelos! Me, so so only, haha! Anyway first time seeing pomelos on tree, I guess it's just like durians, once ripen will fall down, cause heavy! Erm don't know my understanding correct or not la! :p
