[Volume 8 Issue 6, #1735] |
i studied six days a week and only had one pair of shoes during my schooldays, so sunday was always the default and only day i could wash my school shoes.. hello, i did wash my shoes and not just grabbed chalks in the classroom to "clean" my shoes okay?? haha.. because of that, i always hoped for sunny day with bright sun on sundays (is that why it is called SUNday??) so that my shoes could dry completely.. of course, nothing is ever perfect right?? for sure there were cloudy and even rainy sundays, and that were when i was panic about getting my shoes ready for school on monday.. rendezvous huh?? :p |

Shoes!!
ReplyDeleteI too washed my shoes every week but on hindsight, that wasn't very smart, not necessary, I think. How many times have we as adults washed our walking or running shoes. Probably, never, for some of us.
DeleteThat's a clever way of drying your shoes! Your fridge must have been a tall one to have space underneath it.
DeleteOHManners! Good morning!
Deleteyou are so true Happy, haha!! i don't think i have been washing my shoes ever since i left school.. even when i was in the last couple of years in high school, i did not actually wash my shoes often too~~ :D
DeleteGood morning SK...
ReplyDeleteHave not tried dry shoes under the fridge...
Deleteperhaps there is no space between your fridge and the floor?? :D
DeleteWow~ This is a good method. I have 2 pairs of shoes so i have no problem on getting them dry before the following week.
ReplyDeleteyou very 好命 lah you've got two pairs of shoes.. i had only one and i just had to think of ways to let it dry quick~~
DeleteGood morning everyone :)
ReplyDeleteLOL...shoes topic...sure the ladies will zoom in today..
I had two pair os school shoes la so not as bad as ah boy.
DeleteLOL...yup have done the newpaper and under the fridge trick.
Old days fridge have the batu...now no batu. cannot put
another trick is put under aircond...i dont know why la but mine never dry one leh. Went for school trip then shoes got wet. frieds said put under aircond...haiz...lagi teruk leh
a much easier one would be use hair dryer and blow the shoe...guarantee very fast dry but must pandai la...dont put too near else open mouth like crocodile
DeleteNowadays I would hang my clothes inside the air con room with fan blowing at night if my laundry had to be done at night. It will dry in less than 1 hour!
DeleteThe fastest would be drying school shoes beside the air con's compressor outside. It would dry by 2 hours!! It is so damn hot at the compressor.
DeleteI have seen some smart homes where they placed all the 4-5 air con compressors behind their homes near the back's wet kitchen. They will hang all their laundries there too. It will dry very fast!
DeleteMeow so lucky to have 2 pair of school shoes. I only had one and washed my shoes on Saturday. Thus I had 2 days buffer for my shoes.
DeleteI tried the refrigerator trick, but without a ball of newspaper. Haiyah, should have told me this tips earlier. We didn't own any air cond back then, only relied to the sun.
I do the same to my daughter white shoes too, dry them under the sun and she only own a pair.
DeleteI tried using spin dry function in the washing machine. The shoes dried faster :) but I think my washing machine became sot-sot already. Now cannot function properly, only can spin dry.
Aiyo this Yvonne washed everything in the same washing machine??? Shoes, panties, towels and clothes!!
DeleteLast time home where got air-cond. Luxury lor.
DeleteNow pulak home is like pigeon hole.Cannot put at aircond compressor else fall down hit people's head LOL
hubi put his sport shoes in washine machine to wash but i feel geli la....shoes step into everytghing from pavement to toilet...then put in washing machine pulak...
Actually inside the washing machine drum very dirty leh. I didnt know tille people told me . I went bought Cosway washing machine drum cleaner. Pour into the washing machine then put max water level. leave it overnight. The next morning used "wash" function and wash....can see black pieces of rubbery thing like moss coming out from the drum.
It's all our baju's dirt and bulu that stuck on the drum. It's "behind" the drum so when we look into the washing machine it looked clean but actually behind there full of these black thing...
you all happy lah got two pairs of shoes, Ah Hua will understand my situations back then, hahaha!! and nope, we don't have air-cond at home back then, having a fridge was already a luxury.. beneath the fridge was the only place i can used..
DeleteBTW, under the air-cond compressor may or may not work, it has to depend if it is having very good ventilation, and also the height of the compressor also..
errr, i have never tried washing shoes with washing machines lah, i think the shoes may get spoilt easily furthermore shoes nowadays all very bad quality cannot tahan lasak also~~
the shoes hanging there i think not from Malaysian school la.
ReplyDeleteLast time my school time very strict. must not have any labels attached to the shoes. All those bata, pallas whatever must be gunting out else will kena from the teachers.
I guess it's to be "uniformed" la....you know some rich kid will have branded shoes. To prevent jealousy or what la....
but really sayang lor to deface brand new shoes like that
Whoah! Your school so strict Meow.
DeleteMy school takde such ruling. As long as white. :P
I am also shocked to hear this strange requirements by meow's school. Only pussy cats attended that grooming school.
DeleteI remembered that we could not wear shoes that looked fancy or with brands on its surface only.
very strict leh...
Deletesecondary school lagi teruk ...got one teacher who is not discipline teacher but act as of she is will check our socks. All socks must be up above the "Kiok ngan"(not sure what its called in malay n eng...it's the bone above the angkle le)
If the sock below that habis kena la.....
Then one duno whose "clever idea" go and insist we wear sock printed with school name...duno rm3 or what a pair and the sock damn lauyar ones...kejap aje become loose.
yes, my school didn't and still doesn't allow those very fancy shoes even if they are white base.. have to be really school shoes with minimum decorations and patterns lah.. but then no one cares about the socks up to the ankle lah as long as you are wearing socks (no matter how loose the elastic band is and how low it may drop) also okay lah.. hahaha!!
Deletehow you keep your shoes clean from Mon-sat???
ReplyDeletesapu the white shoes paint daily ka? i remember last time have this whte shoe paint. have to sapu on the shoes make it very white. LOL..
me only have new shoes one a year. by end of the year no matter how much or many times wash the shoe will still be grey. Have to sapu the white paint for the shoe
Ah Hua so ashamed to admit, I don't use white liquid to whitening Avery's shoes. I only wash it :p then dry it. I'm so lazy, huh?
DeleteNow we no need to use for Raimie's shoes. He wears black shoes. Mommy and Daddy super like! LOL
DeleteThe kids today have better uniforms these days esp those from private schools. I like those worn by Sri Garden School which looked smart with black shoes. Their prefects wear smart looking designer jackets and some had branded shoes!
DeleteNot everyone can afford private school leh :(
DeleteYeah Black shoes easier to keep clean. But only for those prefects or librarian right? Normal students still have to wear white shoes right?
after washing the shoes must put a layer of shoe white lah, like that will tahan for more days lor, and i kept my shoes clean all the time lah, not those careless people mah.. sometimes if lazy to wash, just apply another layer of the shoe white only, hahahaha!!
DeleteNow i hardly ever wash my shoes...sport shoes ...I find it if washed too much then the thing (alas?)inside the shoe will come out.
ReplyDeleteI only wash if stepp of poo or extreme dirty la
yalah, i also never wash my shoes already.. no more students mah, so the shoes no need to look shiny white one lah.. too clean will look weird instead, agree?? hahaha~~
DeleteHa ha have done that before during school days with the refrigerator to dry our shoes but minus the newspaper. Think putting them in the microwave should be very much faster, instant dry & fully cooked kakakaka
ReplyDeletelast time during my schooldays no microwave lah.. banana did that before drying your shoes in microwave?? then you must teach us how lah~~ :D
DeleteI do the same thing too! Placing them under the fridge but I did not stuff old newspaper inside. You did not apply 'kapur' to your shoes kah? I always did, and then baru letak bawah peti sejuk to dry..
ReplyDeletei only stuff newspaper sometimes, most of the time lazy to do that lah.. aiyoh, the shoe white you mean?? that one is a must, or else no matter how clean i washed my shoes, they still looked greyish lah..
DeleteSame here...and later, I had to do it for my daughter as well. Kids these days really have it so good...unlike us.
ReplyDeleteNo space under the fridge though...so just had to dry in the sun. Clever you hor!!!
DeleteWHAT??!! you are still washing your daughter's shoes for her?? how can that be?? i cannot accept that lah, she's not 4 years old okay?? let her wash it herself~~
DeleteGood morning, SK and all! I was the one to wash all my siblings school shoes when we were still schooling. When my kids were young, I washed for them. When they were old enough to wash their own shoes, they did it themselves. But you know, sometimes they didn't wash at all for a matter of weeks. My mum always scolded them.
ReplyDeletetrue, the air from underneath the fridge could be very hot. Sometimes I did that for my kids when their shoes couldn't dry on time.
Deletebut nowadays, they even use hair dryer. :)
Deletewow, you used to wash all your siblings shoes?? that must be a suffering and why were you willing to do so?? they paid you?? hahaha.. oh yeah, should let your kids do that themselves when they were old enough.. have not tried using hair dryer before, i would have been scolded for wasting electricity if i do that~~ :D
DeleteI was the eldest girl at home back then. No choice but I didn't mind doing it as I loved helping my mum and siblings.
Deletei see.. you know what?? i was the youngest and sometimes my siblings lured me with snacks and money to help them wash theirs!! hahaha, of course that was when i was still a kid, that didn't work when i grew older~~ :D
DeleteGood morning SK!
ReplyDeleteSchool days! Hmm bring back so much of my memories now, I too washed my own school shoes all the time, and apply the white color thingy after wash, what is it called huh? It's to make the shoes whiter one..
Your way of explaining SUNday, very interesting! May be it's true la! Since most people are off on Sunday and will usually do all the laundry sekaligus!
DeleteSpeaking of drying the shoes, besides putting them at the balcony, many mummies also put them on the car roof, haha!
I remember I use to wear school shoes with straps, I prefer this type. There's another type with the sticky zip zap one right? No doubt it's easier to wear and take off but looks less cooler, haha!
DeleteAnd the way you dry your shoes, I have heard of similar method before, I think I read in somewhere in the papers.
DeleteNewspapers are good in fridge, and also shoes rack, can absorb the odors and waters. Best of all, it's cheap!!
Come to think of it, nowadays when we no longer study, we no longer wash our shoes so often already. Actually some shoes cannot be washed also, only can dry under the sun to reduce the odors a bit.
Deletehahaha, last time have to watch the sunlight and place our shoes accordingly lah, wherever the sun shines directly, it's best to place our shoes, be it on the floor or on the roof, haha!!
Deleteerrr, depends on the mood lah, sometimes i prefer the strap type sometimes i prefer the lace type, really have to see my mood, haha!! and you are right, since i left school i think i have not washed my shoes anymore lah~~ :D
I hated to wash my own shoes after my last maid got married and left. My shoes were always damn black and worn out fast playing outdoor games.
ReplyDeleteI played in the muddy water and also "one leg" hopping games with my older brother's gang who included that Dato Seri Wong Chun Wai. My shoes shoes botak damn fast! My mother would scream that I needed new shoes every 2 months!
DeleteOrang kaya, sure got many maids one...
DeleteHello? Orang kaya who? Mayor Sibu lah!
Deletesince Anay was getting new shoes every 2 months, then don't even bother to wash lah.. i only have one pair of shoes every year, so i really had to take good care of them!! got maid to wash for you somemore, how blessed lah, i had to do it myself!!
DeleteI remember that when it rained in sunday...i had to wear back the same pair without washing... After all girls' shoes cleaner one hor... :)
ReplyDeletebut it's better to rain before you wash your shoes, than to wash your shoes and it rained right?? haha~~ hey, my shoes also not too dirty lah, i very careful one!! :D
DeleteI didn't have a high & raised fridge level, so I dried my shoes behind the fridge instead and it worked too!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I forgot to remove my shoes when it was dried until it turned brown & crispy hard. I had to paint it with the white KIWI paint for protection.
DeleteDei, annay's experience so similar to Ah Hua's. we didn't have the high rise fridge. I did the same like annay and sometimes got crispy brown school shoes. Haha...
DeleteI thought only people would raise their fridges on bricks to prevent floods! I think Thambee's house must be under waters sometimes. No?
Deleteoh, that's a good idea also to place the shows behind the fridge!! hahahaha, Anay must have too many shoes that he forgotten one of them still laying behind the fridge.. eih, that KIWI paint are good lah, sometimes when i was lazy to wash my shoes, i just apply one layer of the paint on my shoes and they become shining bright!! yes, i lived in kampung last time and was prone to flood, that's why the fridge has to be lifted a bit off the floor :D
Delete少咗個“面”字,誤會咗唔好意思。
Delete海兄要食多啲魚補一補對眼喇, 呵呵~~ :D
Deletelast time i also using this method and its really work!!!haha
ReplyDeleteyeah, that's indeed a very efficient method huh?? no more nightmares~~ :)
DeleteWhen I was in secondary school, I no need fear of rain as I walk a total of 5 minutes from my dorm to my class, all under the shaded corridor!
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks didn't wash shoes also shoes still look white. hihihi
what about sports....every week have exercise right? You all use hall or padang.
DeleteMine is padang ...sure the shoes will become brown after exercise coz our padang very muddy if after rain :(
so nice lah you just need to walk 5 minutes to school, i need to take bus to the city center and then change another bus to my school, takes at least 40 minutes.. and hate it especially when it rained, sure my shoes gotta be placed under the fridge again, with another layer of KIWI paint~~ :D
Deletewell i have few shoes too, even up until now,
ReplyDeletegood thing is my feet don't stink but yet
dirt is irresistible
especially my white shoes which is my favorite
Deletehaha no matter how hard i try
it would end up dirty
hahaha, but did you realize that you rarely wash your shoes now?? only students still in school wash their shoes regularly~~ :p
Deletehaha honestly i seldom wash it cause i seldom use it
Deletebut now that i was using it a bit often i would think of washing it
more often as well
i don't wash my shoes at all, be it worn often or not, haha!! just too lazy to do it~~ :D
Deleteduring summer days drying shoes was not
ReplyDeletean issue, cause in few hours with
the heat from the sun it would be dried
however when the rainy days come that's when
were gonna have problem
hahaha, we only have sunny or rain in Malaysia there is no seasons.. if the sun is bright of course the shoes dry fast, but when it rained, i had to place them underneath the fridge to let it dry~~
Deletehaha well we have the same climate sk, so i can relate on your
Deletesituation
hahaha, but i think Philippines is slightly more north than Malaysia, and perhaps should be 1°C cooler?? hahahaha~~
Deletewell, i heard of such trivia, and aside to that,
ReplyDeletenews papers can also be used to maintain
the shape of your shoes
oh yeah, now you remind me of that.. by stuffing something into your shoes helps to maintain the shape!! cool~~
Deletewell, it doesn't really matter that big as for as boys,
Deleteour shoes weren't really sensitive but as for girls,
that's necessary
probably not for sneakers and sports shoes, but i think this would be good for leather shoes..
Deleteand if ever the shoes was quite big on you
ReplyDeleteit can also be used
hahaha, this i have never tried before!! i feels weird to stuff newspaper when you are wearing the shoes right?? :D
Deletehaha well because you always purchase shoes that fits you
Deletewell, but back then my mom buy us bigger shoes so even
if our feet grew in size we can still wear it haha
auntie attitude that's it
huh, that's true also.. but then before my feet grew bigger the shoes would have already worn out.. so, buying just the right size wasn't really a problem for me, haha!!
Deletehave a great day and happy blogging sk
ReplyDeletetake the best of care and god bless you
you too have a great day and happy blogging, ake the best of care and god bless you~~ :)
DeleteSame here, I have only one pair of shoe during school days.
ReplyDeleteso did you also do the same thing to let your shoes dry faster?? :)
DeleteI'm late here again. Phew!
ReplyDeleteSchool shoe huh? I got only 1 pair also. I think is enough to own one.
Saturday I have extra activity at school in the morning. House was just 10mins walk from school. So I came home quickly and wash my school shoe. Then when I was in secondary and Form6, we are allowed to wear our own sport shoe.
DeleteWe can wear our own sports shoe during Saturday activity. I weare white shoe until Form5 only. Form6 I need to wear black shoe like those scouts boys.
DeleteWhat I hate the most was when my mum asked me to wash my brother shoes too. My di di aways have this kind of privileged.
Deletehmmm, even on saturday it was a normal schoolday when i was in high school, reach home already about evening so i can only wash them on Sunday.. how nice, can wear sports shoes already in Form 6?? we are not allowed, somemore our shoes must be very baliar shoes, cannot be very fancy type also..
DeleteYa y ya. I did the same trick like you do. Put the pair of shoe underneath the fridge. Hey it works for me all the time... but it was without the newspaper.
ReplyDeleteI only applied those white liquid-chalk during primary. Later on we get a new pair of shoe which is not required to apply the white thing anymore.
DeleteDuring raimimg season, I will put into a washing machine spinner to help it dry faster. Then only I place underneath the fridge
Deletehaha, i think that KIWI paint is almost a compulsory thing huh?? have to apply one layer lah, else even the shoes were washed cleanly, they still looked greyish.. sometimes when i was lazy to wash, just apply another layer and it looks like fresh pair of shoes again, hahaha!!
DeleteAhh memories! I also had one pair of shoes only during my school days, and I definitely used the behind the fridge method to dry my shoes! (I placed them behind, not under, it works too!)
ReplyDeleteoh, now i know some who placed the shoes behind the fridge, i guess it's even faster since the back of the fridge has a bigger area than the bottom huh?? :p
DeleteHappy Duan Wu Festival to everyone.
ReplyDeleteHappy Duan Wu Festival to you too.. how many dumplings have you eaten so far?? :)
DeleteI can't remember ady. Cham lor... putting on weight recently.
Deletenever mind lah, once in a year only~~ :p
DeleteI also put my shoes under the fridge last time when there was a cloudy/rainy day :)
ReplyDeletehahaha, i am so glad that this is quite common and many people had done that before~~ :)
Delete我是學校放假才洗,
ReplyDelete每個禮拜都洗,鞋子容易壞
甚麼??!! 要等到學校放假才洗?? 你的鞋子還會很乾淨嗎?? 怎麼保養的??
DeleteThis post reminds my Kuching trip...that I have use the hair dryer to dry my shoe!!!
ReplyDeleteYa I remembered that post.
Deletehahaha, this post is really inspired by that post of yours lah.. remember i commented the same thing?? :D
DeleteYup!!! Yup!!! I remember the way that you commented!!! =]
DeleteI used to use this way last time, but now there's no gap between my fridge and the floor ooo!!!
ReplyDeletehey, i just found out some people place the shoes behind the fridge and works well too~~ you can try that!! :)
DeleteDuring my primary school, I always love to use the chalks to "clean" my shoe, hahaha!!! What a lazy kid but that's only happened in my primary school cause they change to white board later on in my high school!!! =[
ReplyDeletewakakakaka!! i think many people had done that before, just "curi" the chalk from the classroom and just "clean" the dirt on the shoes, it's actually quite effective also~~
DeleteI also remember that I'll keep some of the chalk inside my bag just in case, hahaha!!! =]
DeleteBtw, now is different lo, my nieces, they have two pair of shoes, even though one is wet or dirty, they still have another one to wear!!! =]
ReplyDeletevery true lah, if only one pair then have to think of all ways.. if two pairs then can wear them in turns, unless you wash both pairs of shoes together, then the same problem arises~~ :D
DeleteHahaha, yup, sometimes my sister forgot to wash for her daughter, then her daughter got to wear the "black" shoe to school lo!!! =]
DeleteI have trained my two girls washing their own shoes every weekend. Lazy mama. No choice.
ReplyDeleteBut I bought two white school shoes for them. In case, rainy season, they have backup shoes la.
I like your tips la! I must bear this in my mind. This time, I have used the right "bear" and not "bare". Must thank lina for correcting it. Otherwise, I will keep using the wrong "bare".
yeah, it's good to have a backup pair of shoes just in case.. there's space beneath your fridge?? otherwise you can place them behind the fridge like Anay did, that would work also..
Deletehahahahaha!! i know you also likes "bare" a lot lah, we can understand that, kekekekeke~~ :D
