11.06.2013 | 有效乾鞋

[Volume 8 Issue 6, #1735]
i studied six days a week and only had one pair of shoes during my schooldays, so sunday was always the default and only day i could wash my school shoes.. hello, i did wash my shoes and not just grabbed chalks in the classroom to "clean" my shoes okay?? haha.. because of that, i always hoped for sunny day with bright sun on sundays (is that why it is called SUNday??) so that my shoes could dry completely.. of course, nothing is ever perfect right?? for sure there were cloudy and even rainy sundays, and that were when i was panic about getting my shoes ready for school on monday.. rendezvous huh?? :p

    1. I too washed my shoes every week but on hindsight, that wasn't very smart, not necessary, I think. How many times have we as adults washed our walking or running shoes. Probably, never, for some of us.

    2. That's a clever way of drying your shoes! Your fridge must have been a tall one to have space underneath it.

LOL...yup have done the newpaper and under the fridge trick.

Old days fridge have the batu...now no batu. cannot put

another trick is put under aircond...i dont know why la but mine never dry one leh. Went for school trip then shoes got wet. frieds said put under aircond...haiz...lagi teruk leh

      Delete
    2. a much easier one would be use hair dryer and blow the shoe...guarantee very fast dry but must pandai la...dont put too near else open mouth like crocodile

    3. Nowadays I would hang my clothes inside the air con room with fan blowing at night if my laundry had to be done at night. It will dry in less than 1 hour!

      Delete
    4. The fastest would be drying school shoes beside the air con's compressor outside. It would dry by 2 hours!! It is so damn hot at the compressor.

      Delete
    5. I have seen some smart homes where they placed all the 4-5 air con compressors behind their homes near the back's wet kitchen. They will hang all their laundries there too. It will dry very fast!

    6. Meow so lucky to have 2 pair of school shoes. I only had one and washed my shoes on Saturday. Thus I had 2 days buffer for my shoes.

I tried the refrigerator trick, but without a ball of newspaper. Haiyah, should have told me this tips earlier. We didn't own any air cond back then, only relied to the sun.

      Delete
    7. I do the same to my daughter white shoes too, dry them under the sun and she only own a pair.

I tried using spin dry function in the washing machine. The shoes dried faster :) but I think my washing machine became sot-sot already. Now cannot function properly, only can spin dry.

    8. Aiyo this Yvonne washed everything in the same washing machine??? Shoes, panties, towels and clothes!!

    9. Last time home where got air-cond. Luxury lor.

Now pulak home is like pigeon hole.Cannot put at aircond compressor else fall down hit people's head LOL

hubi put his sport shoes in washine machine to wash but i feel geli la....shoes step into everytghing from pavement to toilet...then put in washing machine pulak...

Actually inside the washing machine drum very dirty leh. I didnt know tille people told me . I went bought Cosway washing machine drum cleaner. Pour into the washing machine then put max water level. leave it overnight. The next morning used "wash" function and wash....can see black pieces of rubbery thing like moss coming out from the drum.

It's all our baju's dirt and bulu that stuck on the drum. It's "behind" the drum so when we look into the washing machine it looked clean but actually behind there full of these black thing...

    10. you all happy lah got two pairs of shoes, Ah Hua will understand my situations back then, hahaha!! and nope, we don't have air-cond at home back then, having a fridge was already a luxury.. beneath the fridge was the only place i can used..

BTW, under the air-cond compressor may or may not work, it has to depend if it is having very good ventilation, and also the height of the compressor also..

errr, i have never tried washing shoes with washing machines lah, i think the shoes may get spoilt easily furthermore shoes nowadays all very bad quality cannot tahan lasak also~~

  5. the shoes hanging there i think not from Malaysian school la.

Last time my school time very strict. must not have any labels attached to the shoes. All those bata, pallas whatever must be gunting out else will kena from the teachers.

I guess it's to be "uniformed" la....you know some rich kid will have branded shoes. To prevent jealousy or what la....

but really sayang lor to deface brand new shoes like that

    1. Whoah! Your school so strict Meow.

My school takde such ruling. As long as white. :P

    2. I am also shocked to hear this strange requirements by meow's school. Only pussy cats attended that grooming school.

I remembered that we could not wear shoes that looked fancy or with brands on its surface only.

      Delete
    3. very strict leh...

secondary school lagi teruk ...got one teacher who is not discipline teacher but act as of she is will check our socks. All socks must be up above the "Kiok ngan"(not sure what its called in malay n eng...it's the bone above the angkle le)

If the sock below that habis kena la.....

Then one duno whose "clever idea" go and insist we wear sock printed with school name...duno rm3 or what a pair and the sock damn lauyar ones...kejap aje become loose.

      Delete
    4. yes, my school didn't and still doesn't allow those very fancy shoes even if they are white base.. have to be really school shoes with minimum decorations and patterns lah.. but then no one cares about the socks up to the ankle lah as long as you are wearing socks (no matter how loose the elastic band is and how low it may drop) also okay lah.. hahaha!!

    3. The kids today have better uniforms these days esp those from private schools. I like those worn by Sri Garden School which looked smart with black shoes. Their prefects wear smart looking designer jackets and some had branded shoes!

      Delete
    4. Not everyone can afford private school leh :(

Yeah Black shoes easier to keep clean. But only for those prefects or librarian right? Normal students still have to wear white shoes right?

      Delete
    5. after washing the shoes must put a layer of shoe white lah, like that will tahan for more days lor, and i kept my shoes clean all the time lah, not those careless people mah.. sometimes if lazy to wash, just apply another layer of the shoe white only, hahahaha!!

  7. Now i hardly ever wash my shoes...sport shoes ...I find it if washed too much then the thing (alas?)inside the shoe will come out.

  11. Good morning, SK and all! I was the one to wash all my siblings school shoes when we were still schooling. When my kids were young, I washed for them. When they were old enough to wash their own shoes, they did it themselves. But you know, sometimes they didn't wash at all for a matter of weeks. My mum always scolded them.

    1. true, the air from underneath the fridge could be very hot. Sometimes I did that for my kids when their shoes couldn't dry on time.

    1. Your way of explaining SUNday, very interesting! May be it's true la! Since most people are off on Sunday and will usually do all the laundry sekaligus!
Speaking of drying the shoes, besides putting them at the balcony, many mummies also put them on the car roof, haha!

      Delete
    2. I remember I use to wear school shoes with straps, I prefer this type. There's another type with the sticky zip zap one right? No doubt it's easier to wear and take off but looks less cooler, haha!

      Delete
    3. And the way you dry your shoes, I have heard of similar method before, I think I read in somewhere in the papers.

Newspapers are good in fridge, and also shoes rack, can absorb the odors and waters. Best of all, it's cheap!!

      Delete
    4. Come to think of it, nowadays when we no longer study, we no longer wash our shoes so often already. Actually some shoes cannot be washed also, only can dry under the sun to reduce the odors a bit.

      Delete
    5. hahaha, last time have to watch the sunlight and place our shoes accordingly lah, wherever the sun shines directly, it's best to place our shoes, be it on the floor or on the roof, haha!!

errr, depends on the mood lah, sometimes i prefer the strap type sometimes i prefer the lace type, really have to see my mood, haha!! and you are right, since i left school i think i have not washed my shoes anymore lah~~ :D
