24.06.2013 | 無水日子

[Volume 8 Issue 6, #1742]
we experienced yet another water disruption last week, for as long as 60 continuous hours!! sigh, but i am already sick of making a fuss out of it, afterall the water pump has been repaired for 9000-over times and still repairing, if there is another water disruption, likely they will give the same reason again.. instead within that three days of water disruption, i realized people in the neighborhood can actually be quite harmonious.. when the water truck arrived, everyone lined up automatically and there was no fighting for water, besides everyone deliberately limited themselves to take two buckets of water.. while waiting for turns, people didn't mind helping each other to carry the buckets, and of course people started to chat.. within those three days, taking shower has to be brief, even when there's an urge to tinkle or poop we think if that's necessary, and one pail of water can be used for many purposes, so long as to save water anything could be done!! hence i say, we may seem to be only minding our own businesses, but when some things happened, many times the people would easily unite and stay together harmoniously.. ah, that's the malaysian attitude i guess?? :)

    1. Yeah, I read about the pump in WM being down and I thought it was an old story. That must have been another inconvenient round of taps running dry.

In times like these, good neighbourliness goes a long way.

      Delete
    2. Also, in these hazy and stuffy days, H2O is what we need most (besides clean air). Glad the taps are back to normal.

    3. yes, it was and is still an old story but the water disruption is like forever and always fresh!!

  2. Good to know that despite the inconvenience, you and your neighbours act well and very neighbourly to each other, SK.

    2. The worst I experienced was during Form 4, when I was studying in Melaka.

I think it was three months of no water due to drought. Our school like many homes there, resorted to digging well. We used well water to bath and cleaning. Those with boyfriends were lucky ad their boyfriend helped them carry their buckets of water to the dorm. :-D

    3. 1998...

I was staying at Jln Genting Klang that time.

  7. SK Thambee you had all the bliss growing up in the villages in Tiruchirapalli where abundance of water flows in the streams all the way to Ganges River! You used to bathe and dance naked with Kamala while she sang songs and washed laundry... Adoi! So sweet!...

What happened now? You chose to sail to Malaya to cari makan! I told you before that piped water is not reliable!! You should move to stay near the streams in Hulu Langat!

  20. On a positive note, things happened for a reason. Being neighbours you all probably don't know the each other even staying on the left or right, back or front. So this is the only watery opportunity for a successful 'getting to know you' project haha.
