11.03.2013 | 隨遇而安

[Volume 8 Issue 3, #1684]
when everything is getting more and more expensive, i have a bunch of question marks appearing in my head.. why can things like ice-creams, chocolates, coffee etc be sold at tens of ringgit a cup or a piece?? you can fly after eating them?? why can apparels be sold at thousands of ringgit a piece?? you become supermodel after wearing them?? why are eateries packed with people while they just serve lousy food?? you become rich and famous after trying them?? despite all the confusion, there are still many people who think it's a disgrace to miss out any.. perhaps this is just sour grapes for people like me who are at the most bottom hierarchy of the society, haha!! maybe one day if i miraculously become a billionaire, i shall lead such a lifestyle.. well, i guess everyone has a different perspective and attitude as they reach different stages of life, i'd say just be happy with what you have now.. :)

Yet, it is the WANT that we crave more than the NEED. :(

  4. Good morning, SK and all! When I was young, I used to ask lots of questions but I didn't quite understand too. When my kids asked me questions when they were young, I always made sure that they understood what I had explained. I remembered my son at a tender age asked me, "Ma, what's is pregnant?" At that time I was pregnant and guess he must have heard the word.

    1. It's good to ask when we don't understand. I always encouraged my students to ask questions but many didn't seem to like asking questions. Even when I asked them questions, they refused to answer.

I agree with Bananaz's comment above. These are all want. Many like to join the crowds and not to get missed out on anything.

  7. The "famous" and expensive eateries get less attention in my town here. The folks may try them out once or twice, out of curiosity, but switch back to their old kopitiam for cheaper choices.

Some of the eateries still manage to continue their business due to support from youngsters. Some already closed shop.

Do you know teens nowadays lepak at Starbucks instead of mamak stalls? Darn rich!

    1. Actually I liked to chill out at Starbucks years ago when I started working. I'm a coffee lover, still single with no liability, so that's the place I hanged out on weekends.

When I returned to my hometown for good, the only thing that I missed was the coffee there. Whenever I traveled outstation, I would make sure I stop by at any coffee franchise.

Recently we have a Starbucks here and I don't even patronize it, hahaha! I got other priority now.

You will not believe, he is still using less than RM400 hand phone. He is the only guy I know, who can live without smartphone.

He likes to eat at hawker stalls, wears slipper, singlet and still visits Indian barber for hair cut.

He always live to what he needs and not he wants. I salute him and admire him as a person.
