ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead...
Wanakum! That boils down to Need vz Want
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right, Bananaz!
DeleteYet, it is the WANT that we crave more than the NEED. :(
Wise men say only fools rush in.....
DeleteI am now trying to educate my children to differentiate the Need and Want.
Good morning SK and everyone here! Monday again, hope no blues for you all~
ReplyDeleteEh why today seems a bit quiet here? Where is everybody?
DeleteEverything is getting expensive, only our salaries don't, right? :/
DeleteAnd not only things are getting expensive, the portion also becomes very little.
现在的钱变得很小了。。糟糕咯,以后我们的子女该怎么活啊?!!
Deletetrue. if they dont raise the price the portion will shrink LOL
DeleteGood morning, SK and all! When I was young, I used to ask lots of questions but I didn't quite understand too. When my kids asked me questions when they were young, I always made sure that they understood what I had explained. I remembered my son at a tender age asked me, "Ma, what's is pregnant?" At that time I was pregnant and guess he must have heard the word.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to ask when we don't understand. I always encouraged my students to ask questions but many didn't seem to like asking questions. Even when I asked them questions, they refused to answer.
DeleteTrue, be happy with what we have now but always strive for the best! It's up to us to make life sweeter and exciting. It's nice to pamper ourselves too.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, all! Happy Monday~
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bananaz's comment above. These are all want. Many like to join the crowds and not to get missed out on anything.
hahaha...pasal makan i would join the crowd...if the queue is not too long la :p. If too many people no point to wait. service and food quality would also drop.
DeleteThe "famous" and expensive eateries get less attention in my town here. The folks may try them out once or twice, out of curiosity, but switch back to their old kopitiam for cheaper choices.
ReplyDeleteSome of the eateries still manage to continue their business due to support from youngsters. Some already closed shop.
Do you know teens nowadays lepak at Starbucks instead of mamak stalls? Darn rich!
Actually I liked to chill out at Starbucks years ago when I started working. I'm a coffee lover, still single with no liability, so that's the place I hanged out on weekends.
DeleteWhen I returned to my hometown for good, the only thing that I missed was the coffee there. Whenever I traveled outstation, I would make sure I stop by at any coffee franchise.
Recently we have a Starbucks here and I don't even patronize it, hahaha! I got other priority now.
Eh! How come all the Tans are Starbuck kaki or rather coffee addicts!!! I am a real addict for coffee!
DeleteOld style kopitiam tak ada gaya lah...
DeleteMust lepak at chain coffee shop that sells sky high prices baru ada gaya.
kekeke
memang true la...if expensive and food quality not nice, that would be "one time business" only lor. If food good but expensive, people may go when there is celebration like birthday or things like that la
DeleteLOL....starbuck...maybe at home you no time to hang out at starbuck leh. come back from work where got time to lepak at starbuck
I don't have any branded apparels and I own one cheapest branded bags - I buy my clothes from local and online boutiques, during their clearance sales, haha! I hardly shop from shopping malls, too!
ReplyDeleteBranded apparels and designer bags boost up one's self-esteem and confident. Yes? No?
I see many ladies here carry designer bags, which I don't know its genuine. I can't tell because I never exposed to the branded stuff. They may be using AA products which look very genuine :O
DeleteI wear cheapo handbag. Just one bag!
DeleteUse cheapo smartphones too.
My only indulgence are my running shoes.
That one, I like to think as a NEED more than a want. Gotta take care of my feet. ;)
I am a shopaholic, because I use my own earning to make myself happy, I find nothing wrong, but none of my clothes are designer brands. I have only one pair of Guess jeans which considered designer brand so far.
DeleteSo, I can conclude that I am a smart consumer and wise buyer.
I agree that Hot Mama is a wise shopper!! That is wise money spent and saved!
DeleteEh! You forgot your NIKE running kasut. That one branded lah!
Got la! I got one New Balance running shoes, 4 coaches, 1 Blue Label Burberry and 1 long champ only.
Deletehahaha sounds like me too. i go fo warehouse sale if looking for those branded sport shoes. As for T shirts pakai hentam aje la.
DeleteBag lagi dare not use branded coz worry about snatch thief.
My indulgence is books but even that also look for cheap ones . That's why gila Big Bad Wolf sale. Last time crazy about Payless books sale but now they no longer in business...so now chase after big bad wolf lor
If I were to become a billionaire, I would lead such luxurious lifestyle too, haha! Now I'm just a commoner.
ReplyDeleteWhen I become a billionaire I will still wear BATA shoes and not Clarks!!
DeleteIf I'm a billionaire, I hide my wealth and happily wear selipar jepun.
DeleteIt's when I am not that I crave for luxurious things! huhuhu
I will spend and spend with my unlimited $$$ - to live my life to the fullest, muahahaha!
DeleteCannot Yvonne,
DeleteIf you flaunt it, later all sorts of people will look for you.
Then, kena hire bodyguard pulak. Lecehla! LOL
If I am a billionaire, I will do like lina too. Too afraid to let others know.
DeleteRich is a state of mind. One who has health and happiness is the richest man in the world.
So wise words from Hot Mama..!!! It is all in the mind and everything in this world is just an illusion. I pay great attention for my health and happy heart.
DeleteIf I am a billionaire, I will buy many lemons and give everyone a lemon a day.
DeleteThen, everyone can keep cancer at bay.
Plant lemon trees and let the tree gives out as many to people.
DeleteThat way, you get good deeds point even after you already passed away. :)
wah...so earlier in the morning everyone eaten so much Tai Thow Choy ah(vege that makes ones dream)
Deletemaybe if being billionaire can flaut la. after all can hire body guard. But if millionaire sure cannot. Now even millionaire no class already. world have too many millionaire
Good afternoon bloggers! Weather quite nice today.
ReplyDeleteSo what is Thambee talking today??? The money went to advertising and made the prices soar!
From what I notice about consumer's behaviour for high end brands and dining at posh outlets, they just wanna enjoy the comfort, quality and BE SEEN!!!!
ReplyDeletesome people would wanna be seen. Well, each to their own la.
DeleteThe rentals and wages in KL are getting ridiculous. So the prices of food and stuffs have to be highly priced. I better move to Taiping and retire!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, the cost of living in Taiping is rising as well. But still can consider cheaper than big cities.
DeleteOur salary is the slowest to increase, sobssss......
Anay, we Taiping lang can go anywhere in slipper, singlets and short pants. Famous chains in Taiping not good business one. Local kopitiam has better business.
DeleteTaiping people so humble and down to earth! I wanna retire in the North where slippers can go anywhere. Here in KL our Kuku Bird trend kena pakai Clarks to work.
Deleteeverywhere salary also increase very slow la. not only in Taiping.
DeleteIpoh also not a bad place to retire to. Not Penang as Penang cost of living is raising very high
Yeah, why is it that lots of people grumbling about the high living cost yet still can afford luxury items such as handbags?
ReplyDeleteWhy? Why? Why?
Jaga muka?
Deletesome lagi best leh...go one wedding or birthday function, must buy one new clothes. Cannot let people see wear same clothes.
DeleteI wonder why also some parents complain about buying books or paying for their children needs at school yet have absolutely no qualms burning precious money smoking cigarettes.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Why? Why?
Yeah I saw lots of hypocrite parents who drive Alphards and send their kids to Sri C school yet wanna haggle over home tuition fees with my missus. They have to pay RM45K a year for their one kid's fees at the private school. Tak berbaloi!
DeleteWhy? Why? Why?
When I needed to use my old Nokia, I saw young students carry iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Jealous lah!
Deleteya why why why why.....one packet of smokes already more than rm10
DeleteYour title reminded me of Anita Mui song...Why Why... tell me Why....
ReplyDeleteThere are so many questions..yes... i m not a material girl.. no heavy expensive stuff for me unless they are really comfortable.. like shoes.. I like to pay more for a nice comfortable sandals for walking... :)
Generally, Maslow's hierarchy of needs applies though there are exceptions.
ReplyDeleteAlso, human nature being such, some subscribe to 'if you have it, flaunt it!'
There is yet another school of thought..
A former colleague used to say that if you have money and don't know how to use it or are being stingy about spending it, you may get two tight slaps come judgment day. It does make some sense too. No? LOL
Deletewhy are eateries packed with people while they just serve lousy food?? -- this one rings a bell, loudly. Sigh..
DeleteMany people have become a follower and not a leader. If every one goes to then posh restaurant, then must go too. Otherwise, no class, no standard.
DeleteI saw my April bringing back a paper cube like this in your picture. She used that as a game to play with her kid sister.
ReplyDeleteShe said her classmate folded and gave to her.
If I follow my Jin Jin's style, I will definitely live very down to earth and lead a very humble lifestyle in my hometown.
DeleteYou will not believe, he is still using less than RM400 hand phone. He is the only guy I know, who can live without smartphone.
He likes to eat at hawker stalls, wears slipper, singlet and still visits Indian barber for hair cut.
He always live to what he needs and not he wants. I salute him and admire him as a person.
SK Ah Boy, I like your post in Cantonese version very much, all words are perfectly used to describe and narrate your thoughts.
DeleteHey Yannie! Only a smart guy can live without smartphones! Believe me, I am like your smart Jin Jin and the 2 smartphones I have were gifts from a friend and my wife (lucky draw) I would never buy it for myself.
DeleteThe money is yours - you make the choices...so it is up to you to control it or let it control you. I don;t have a smartphone... Hehehehehe!!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S.:
ReplyDeleteWhere's SP? How come his links don't update? I thought everybody no new posts today... Tsk! Tsk!
Wah!!!!!!
DeleteSTP is missing SP lah!!!!
你呢啲疑問我一早就已經察覺咗。答案就喺家陣啲人都病曬,仲要愈嚟愈嚴重嗰只。
ReplyDeleteyeah, i everyday also ask why this why that~ sigh~
ReplyDeletePeople nowadays always love to ask why I don't have this and that, but never see what they have!!! =]
ReplyDeletewell merely because we live in a world full of
ReplyDeleteSh*t haha i mean it's in people's nature to desire for things and to do thing for the gain of themselves
but i guess GOD allow this things to happen to bring balance in our life,
ReplyDeletei mean for us to see him between the lines,
for us to realize that these thing are meant to give us joy and fulfillment but still
happiness and contentment lies on his glory
anyway i guess if all things were pretty much easy, life is almost perfect,
ReplyDeleteand perfection somehow meant boredome,
i mean if everything is perfect what else can we look forward to
but then, to be a billionaire is really a huge thing
ReplyDeletehaha i mean you can do what ever you want have what ever material thing you need and want in no sweat haha
you can also help others too through it
well bottom line is life is unperfectly, perfect
ReplyDeleteanyway that thing on the picture,
ReplyDeletewe used to play that when we were little,
crushes thingy were the topic most often
have a great day and happy blogging sk
ReplyDeletetake care always and god bless you
that's right... contentment is the answer to eliminate those whys in your head
ReplyDeleteif you know how to appreciate what you have... you do not question yourself anymore or compare your situation to others...chers!
ReplyDeletewe strive for better things but most importantly we need to learn to be contented too!
ReplyDeleteas for my lifestyle..i am very frugal and I am happy that way woohoo!
ReplyDeletethis topic reminds me greatly of Anita Mui;s song...why whytell me why... LOL
ReplyDelete是命啊。。。。 T_T
