啱啱過去嘅新年期間, 大家有冇暴飲暴食先?? 係唔係好擔心自己就此重多幾個kilo?? 哈哈, 咁嘅開場感覺好似纖體公司打廣告呵?? 其實我係想話, 大家唔好太過在乎體重囉, 都不過係個數字, 尤其唔好太過迷信於什麼BMI理想體重.. 每個人體質都唔同, 有人天生係偏重磅㗎嘛, 重啲並唔表示肥啲, 輕啲都並唔表示瘦啲喎.. 而且結實肌肉係比脂肪來得重, 呢個係有科學根據㗎.. 其實肥定瘦自己會感覺到嘅, 唔係單單靠個磅嚟定奪, 係整個人睇落去嘅感覺囉.. 實際啲, 要知道自己肥咗定瘦咗, 你條褲著上去窄咗定鬆咗就係最好嘅驗證喇.. :p
have you been eating a lot lately, especially during the CNY?? worry about gaining a few kilos of weight because of that?? haha, this opening sounds like slimming centers advertising their services huh?? actually what i wanted to blog about is, don't be over-serious about weight, it's just a number, and especially don't worship the so-called BMI ideal weight.. everyone is unique and so does everyone's body composition, some are born to be heavy, weighing heavier doesn't mean you are fatter and similarly weighing lighter doesn't mean you are skinnier.. furthermore, lean muscles are heavier than body fats, this is scientific.. you can actually "feel" yourself being fat or skinny, not just based on the number on your scale, it's actually how one look in overall.. more practically, if you want to know whether you gain or lose weight, judge from whether your pants is getting tighter or looser, this sure works perfectly.. :)

    1. I shall come back again later today, I have many things to write on this post. Now I need to back to work to settle some urgent things.

      By the way, I never have light weight in my history. I was the tallest in the class last time, so I was also the heaviest among all my classmates. I was heavier than guys too when we were young. So, I am very concern of my weight since then.

      Because, children also like to think the heaviest is the fattest. Sobs.....

      Luckily after growing order, many girls and guys became heavier than Mak Yannie. Muahahahaha!

      I do heavier than many female friends, but I am not that worrying anymore.

      I agree with SK. The overall appearance is the right feel, we shouldn't so concern of body weight.

      As long as we exercise and tone up the body, we won't look that flabby.

      Yannie is tall, at least taller 15cm from Ah Hua, so it's normal if she weighs more. But some models are taller and lighter than Ah Hua >.<

      Yannie is heavier than many female friends, but not look fatter than them. Thank goodness, height has an advantage.

      Tall people fat, people say "big size", but short people fat, people say "balloon up".

    6. I realised I didn't comment on the content of your post. Oops! So I'm back to make amends.

      I remember one time at a health roadshow in our office, many colleagues who were looking slim in size/shape were told that they were obese after going thru some test. We all were in doubt after that as to whether the test was accurate.

      I agree with you that a good way to measure whether one has put on weight is thru the clothing. Unfortunately, some people are in denial and instead of trimming the excess, they go out and get new clothes.

    7. Happy Surfer, this time I really agree with you. Many people still in denial for the fact that they have put on weight.

      I admit that I watch my weight very closely. SK at one time said I am too hard on myself. He is right anyway. I must put my weight in control before others telling me that I have put on weight.

  4. I checked my BMI just last Monday, they came to the office and gave us free checkup.. :) Mine is 22.. anyway, I realize that we should not be too concerned about our weight..as long as we are healthy and up walking about.. :)

      According to the free check by Damai Hospital, I am sooooo obese. *cry cry*

      Was advised to lose weight by exercising (not more but to EXERCISE!). Was told muscle mass was too little (and I actually do weight training!!!!)

      The only good thing is I don't have cholesterol problem. ^^!

    2. I just checked my BMI online and it's 21 - falls under the "Normal" category. But how come I feel fat everyday? I tend to munch whenever I feel stress and recently I'm under heavy pressure :(

  5. I know I am big and heavy but I am least bothered. I will eat lesser when my weight goes up. I will also hit the gym longer to bring down the fats level.

    1. I am actually lighter than the fattest time, but heavier than the thinnest time.

      In fact, many people like to be slimmer because slimmer people can wear clothes nicer. Agree?

      But then, not necessary slimmer is healthier, and fatter is less healthier. Agree?

      The person who exercise regularly can afford to enjoy food more than those don't do exercise at all, agree?

    2. I'm heavier compare to 10 years ago. And I see my weight shoot up drastically after giving birth! So hard to go back to my pre-preggie weight because I've turned into a glutton mama :p

      i think i know why weight shoot up for mothers coz each time feed the kids and they cannot finish eating, then mothers tend to help them to finish. That is what my MIL does la. She always say she full already though she hardly eat anything...coz all the grand kids cannot finish food she will help to finish

  6. I agree that when my pants are looser, I will be happier! The weight should not be counted. Why Thambee talked about this topic? Is Thambee trying to conceal his own fatty facts?

    1. When age is catching up, and giving birth two times, I don't think I would have the figure of Victoria Secret model. As long as I look good as a mother of two at my age, I am happy.

  7. I was so bothered about my weight and fats that I bought the latest OMRON digital weighing scale that could monitor the fats content as well. I realised that every gram that appeared lesser could excite me!

    1. I have a digital scale at home too. I weigh myself naked every morning after going to bathroom. So that moment, I am the lightest. After taking a glass of water, I will put on 1 kg.

      I feel stress if I see myself putting on 0.5kg. That day I will try to eat less.

    2. I had put on 1kg after CNY (expected la... =_=). So now gotto work harder to lose a bit to maintain at my ideal weight.
      BMI? Well, I am lucky that my BMI is within normal range all this while =)

    3. Then you said that weighing heavier doesn't necessarily means you're fat, totally agree. Cause some people's bones are heavy actually. And to define fat or not, I think also have to depends on the height...

  15. But one time I stayed in Bangkok's Dusit Thani hotel, there was a weighing scale in the bathroom. I made use of it everyday (since it's there) and could actually see my weight increased day by day!!

  20. I googled for the standard BMI
    Underweight = <18.5
    Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
    Overweight = 25–29.9
    Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
    and here's what i got i better get mine calculated first haha

    1. Yes, when age is catching up, metabolism rate is getting low. That's how fat is accumulated fast in the body, only exercise can increase the metabolism rate and help burning fat more.
