Kekeke, everyone hates telemarketers. I know no one who loves them~
ReplyDeleteHaven't rad the post yet. kekeke
Deletespamming more important. LOL
aiyo they also need to cari makan ..
Deletesometime I entertain them
Ceh, most of the telemarketers are ladies, of course you entertain them, SP. Bias~~
DeleteI think I love them considering that I've through this industry LOL
DeleteBlu, you were a telemarketer once? Must share with us your encounters with funny calls.
Deletehaha we have plenty of prank callers... we're catering an Internet Service Provider Company but we keep on receiving calls from people who place their orders for pizza and other foods
DeleteI hate these kind of calls..
DeleteI hate it too
Deleteyvonne .. some telemarketers are male also.. kekekeke
DeleteSometimes I layan, sometimes before they even finish talking, I told them I'm not interested and hang up.
DeleteMost of the time I'm lazy to entertain them, just halt them halfway and hang up.... mean, right?
DeleteI normally let them talk to their heart's contents. If they are from Citibank or Stanchart, mampus la.....sure Kena kau kau from me. I had bad issues with them.
DeleteThey are so nuisance and always call at the wrong time, i.e, 3pm when I'm feeling the most drowsy.
ReplyDeleteOr at 6pm when I was driving on the way home, woi, wanna let me get saman, is it? I don't use handfree leh~~
Yalor... usually I'll be so bad and tell them that if they want me to listen to them, call me at more appropriate hour. They never do. :(
DeleteI would just say, Sorry, wrong number!
Deletethat day i just kena saman ..
Deleteno using handsfree .. sigh ..
money gone again...
Aiyoh SP! Why you pick up that call!
DeleteAiks, use loud speaker if no handsfree!
DeleteThey actually have to call from 9am till 7 pm....
DeleteNo multi language telemarketer? Are you encountering telemarketing calls from China?
ReplyDeleteof course many times..
Deletethose are professional conmen..
I just say I don't know mandarin ,, and they just say bye bye...
I hate telemarketer, especially those in very strong China accent Chinese language.
DeleteBy the way, SK, you prefer what language when telemarketer calls you?
DeleteWho knows? May be one day I will call you and test whether you are interested to buy Taiping Heong Peng.
Deleteooo taiping also famous of heung peah? something new to me...
DeleteDo they (the telemarketers) care what language we prefer? No, because we Malaysian are multi-languager~~ kakaka...
ReplyDeleteWhatever language they speak to us, we sure know how to reply :)
ReplyDeleteI will say sorry not interested ..
Deletebut they still talk like robot.. continue and continue...
wow that's pretty cool Yvonne
DeleteBlu, most Malaysian know at least 3 languages, hehehe~
DeleteSP, why you so contradict one? Just now say you'll entertain, now you say, sorry not interested. Tsk tsk...
yvonne ..hahaha ..
Deletewhen i m free I listen to them .. if not then bye bye to them le..
One thing I really appreciate if all telemarketeers can do : talk swiftly and fluently.
DeleteI hate people who talk slowly (ie in speed).
and please, learn how to pronounce my name properly before calling me. It's not that hard to read.
Hahaha! There's something wrong with the telemarketers. They can't pronounce my name either. And some ppl who send me email, can even spell my name properly - they wrote Vyonne *dong*
Delete**can't even spell... type error
DeleteIf someone called me and conversed in Cantonese, I'll reply using Cantonese... although my Cantonese sucks (probably rated 3/10 only) and you'll experience difficulty to understand it, muahahaha!
ReplyDeleteooo I thought a lot ppl from Perak speaks cantonese
DeleteThe Perakians from Taiping to Northern speak Hokkien mostly. Ipoh has majority Cantonese~
DeleteBut I understand Cantonese!! *watch to much TVB series since 25 years ago*
ReplyDeleteAnd I do better in Mandarin.
DeleteThe dialect I master the best is Hokkien. Sadly, no telemarketer speak to me in my mother language :(
so yvonne you are Hokkien lang?
DeleteHeheh, yup. So do you, right? Or you're mixture of Hokkien / Cantonese / Teow chew / Hakka??
DeleteNowadays even some Indians and Malays speak Mandarin, Cantonese or Hokkien. Don't be surprise!!
ReplyDeleteI know many Indians in Penang Island speak Hokkien - they mix with many Hokkiens there, so slowly pick up other languages :)
Deleteu try in hokkien .. and say that you only know this language and then they will say bye bye to you.. LOL
DeleteIs Malaysia being conquered by Chinese before??
DeleteThe Philippines was conquered by different races... Americans, Spaniards, Portugese and more... that's why our language are mostly influenced by them hehe
We were under British, the conquered by Japanese. We are multilingual because we have a lot of races here :)
Deleteyea..don't be surprised my Indian customers can speak Cantonese..
Deletei wont be surprised coz i have many ftiends that speak Mandarin.
DeleteThere was one auditors in my last company who is of mixed parentage and he can speak hokkien well.
All our Managers warned us to be careful what we say infront of that fella
Blue,
DeleteUnder the Colonial rule, Chinese and Indian immigrants were brought in to help in certain sectors here. Now, foreign workers that are brought in are Bangladeshi, Myanmarian, Nepalese... Maybe later our kids would learn that language. @.@
Lina, you're too funny!
DeleteBut some children under their Indon maids' care, can speak Bahasa Indon fluently.... it's sort of BM with Indon accents, heh~
I can really relate hahaha.. I was working in the same field so I know the process LOL
ReplyDeletethough i am not doing any outbound calls since we are technical representatives... we are responsible for troubleshooting over the phone and not selling anything hehe
ReplyDeleteyup .. bad timing.
ReplyDeleteI always ask them to call back at 10pm .. and they dont do that..
coz sudah balik liao
Muahaha, you purposely one, SP, so bad!
DeleteDon't la! If one night, the china mari telemarketer calls you to sell you something, fui fui sure get jealous.
DeleteNext time i will use this trick....thanks for the tip kekekeke
Deletebut at night I silent my HP.. kakaka
Deleteso macam mana pun they can't call me..
kakakaka
I actually don't like to be in telemarketing business ... I do not have that pleasing power to convince someone to buy our product hehe...
ReplyDeletenot easy..u need to have that persuasive power.
Deletein our field.. we have what we called "Language Barrier"... we need to match our language based on the language used by our customers while on call... that is for their own convenience too
ReplyDeleteI wish I could speak chinese too :P
ReplyDeletehehehe .. come let me teach you..
Deletebut I am a lousy teacher .. kakakakaka
>>> See, SP is so bias. Only entertain SYT!
DeleteYvonne.. you also didnt ask me to teach you.. :p
Deleteur younger pic still in my mind..
kakakaka ..
opps hope that fui fui dont c this.. kakakakakaka
Wah, SP, I better run first. Later your darling chase me with parang, I die lo! kakakaka...
Deleteyou are two are so funny
DeletePhilippines and India are two of the countries with most numbers of BPO industries...
ReplyDeleteThey said that we Filipinos are great speakers because we can adapt to English language easily .. we can even mimic their accent hehe
ahahah true! cheers to filipinos!
DeleteIf there's a language that i am so eager to learn.. that would be Japanese.... the reason?? well.. in order for me to understand those japanese anime even without the subtitles LOL
ReplyDeletelol it would be fun watching them like a pro wink wink
DeleteI'm more interested to Chinese characters and the way they write them... that's pretty interesting you know.. but i guess if you want to learn the Language you should learn their Writing as well
ReplyDeletetrue..listening, speaking and writing like in the case of learning..
DeleteHave a great day Sk and Happy bloggin to you
ReplyDeleteIt's okay lah, SK. It's a tough job.
ReplyDeleteI better skip the word 'Good morning'.... no points earned.
ReplyDeleteI have managed a huge call centre before but it was for the leading Telco company in our country, so all the clients would listen attentively.
Wei wei...no point earned also can say good morning mah
DeleteYalar, TM so stingy with greetings.
DeleteThe worst headache I had was one of our staff caller like that young female voice and started to be friendly with her. She also miang and responded in the chats. One thing led to another, she filed complaints when she had to repeatedly turn down the caller's invitation to go out yum cha. She and the staff caller forgot that all calls were recorded for the disciplinary team to review.
ReplyDeletei tarak miang also go hamsup lou ask to go out yum cha leh when my boss asked me to make cold calls.
Deleteor maybe its a trick by those people that dont wanna be disturb by tele-marketeer. Purposely pretend hamsup and make the marketeer back off.
DeleteTM, this is the price of being miang.
DeleteSmall Kuching, bad luck for you. Met with hamsup lou.
are you sure u didnt meow meow with the ppl? kakakakaka
DeleteI meow meow only to my hubby. hehehe
DeleteWhen I received these type of calls, I cut them short by saying, "Sorry I am working now and I am not interested.. thank you!" .. it always work and they also will cut off too... fast!
ReplyDeleteMe too, will say something like that.
Deletebut they still talk and talk ..
Deletelike a robot like that...
If they speak Mandarin, I will answer in English... Sure, they will hang up one! @#$%^&*!!!!
ReplyDeleteOnce, I scolded a Celcom 3G Broadband girl - she kept speaking in BM, could not speak English very well...and kept reading her list of questions instead of answering my queries. I said, "You nak kerja dengan syarikat internet antarabangsa, tak pandai cakap Bahasa Ingggeris? Apa majikan bodoh itu, mahu ambil kamu???" And they always tell you that the conversation is recorded.
ReplyDeletewakakak....ya encountered a few of those. Speak half past 6 english and doesnt answeer to queries. Reading from scripts
DeleteI also hate telemarketeer. Most would not take NO for and answer
ReplyDeleteJust the other day I received call from telemarketeer purportedly from HLB...haiz...HLB again....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the fella kept asking me to come up meet up...say HLB going to have duno what investment plan...ask me to join...ok...so i said la if i am free i will go HLB directly to enquire further. Then this fella started to back track say actually he is not under HLB but do marketing for them bla bla bla....
ReplyDeleteLast time when I was working boss likes to ask us to make cold calls too. Inadvertently become one of those pesky telemarketeer la...i hate makeing cold call.
ReplyDeletebuta buta calls then got some "potential customer" started to gatal pulak...ajak keluar minum...grrrr
ReplyDeleteGuess from the one receiving calls, those calls can be pesky la
ReplyDeleteBut the ones making calls also kesian juagak...100 calls aday duno how many will get positive respond and how many hamsup fella will be taking the calls.
ReplyDeleteAs for language....whenever the fella speak mandarin i would speak malay.
ReplyDeleteya i dont understand why they would assume chinese means must be able to speak Mandarin...
ReplyDeleteat least lor...
DeleteI'm not even Chinese and a LOT of people assume I can understand either Mandarin or Hokkien.
Some say I sounded Chinese. Can ah? kakaka
A girl who I always deal with, after 10 years finally asked me whether I'm Chinese or not. Aiyoh, this Lina name can be used by all race. So 1Malaysia name. wakaka
LOL...ahem...your name sound a bt chinese. I have a chinese fren whose name is Lina too
Deletewah that girl terror leh...10 years baru ask
some lagi funny...call start speaking in English but then like the stuents in "Oh My ENglish" show...I end duno what they are trying to say...My english not good already lah....and yet there are some who are worst than mine and yet they get job as tele marketeer for english section.
ReplyDeleteDont know whether to laugh or cry for the bosses that hire them
ReplyDelete我通常會等佢講曬份稿,然後同佢講:非常吸引不過我冇興趣。
ReplyDeletetele marketeer? erm I receive insurance before, which is I don't like it . . . no benefits . . .
ReplyDeleteI mean I use phone either to call my client to ask them pay me, not pay to the person who called me LOL
now seldom receive call from these kind of people because . . . they got no idea about my phone number I think.
ReplyDeleteeither where they get the phone number from is from friend friend or friend friend friend lol :X
so . . . I think SK your eyebrow need to be fierce abit when chat with friend, so people will know you are abit serious lol :X
ReplyDeleteand probably what are they trying to sell with script probably is fake or cons, try to beware about it. :)
ReplyDeletesometime I really respect on those telemarketers... duty is just to call ppl and sell ..
ReplyDeleteI think those ppl must have a quota to acheive..
ReplyDeletemaybe 1000 calls a day or don't go back.. kakakaka
hmm do you think that they call their friend and chit chat?
ReplyDeleteNope I dont think so coz all of their calls are recorded :P
DeleteI think they need to put a headset to call the people...
ReplyDeleteYes they do... it would be very tiring if they are a handset lol :P
Deletesometimes also cannot blame them for not knowing maulti language ..
ReplyDeletesome of them maybe just high school graduate...
In my country they should have reached atleast 2nd yr in college.
DeleteIf the salary 10k/mth .. hmm I think they can speak all type of language ....
ReplyDeleteAGree. DOn;t ask for too much in terms of skill if pay low and you are willing to take fresh grad.
DeleteI dislike telemarketers!! But what to do? It's a job for them.
ReplyDeleteBut you are right. They just weak their language without first finding out what language we are speaking. ANd worse, still continue to speak their language after I made it clear I wanted to use my language!
ReplyDeleteBut I have to say not al telemarketers are like that. Some, but rare ones, are actually quite professional. They will ask if I am free to talk and will say Have a nice day if I say I am not interested.
ReplyDeleteActually it's just all a numbers game right? The more you call, the more you results you get. So that's why some just quickly speak and then go NEXT! : D
ReplyDeleteThey actually do have call handling time... they shouldnt exceed to the number of minutes allotted for them to have every call.
DeleteAiyo don't like that la, people also just '揾餐吃' jek... :P
ReplyDeletethats a fact they got to do something about that
ReplyDeleteim not that knowledgeable about this fields but i must agree the telemarketers should be the one adjusting for theirs costumers
yeah its given that English is the universal language but we must give some consideration especially when your dealing at this field
Deletehave a great day sk
Deletenot well trained
ReplyDeleteThis post is great, at least I learned from your readers a few tips how to handle the telemarketer in future.
ReplyDeleteI hate to receive call from people selling me insurance or investment plan. I feel so uncomfortable to talk about this through phone. Because there are so many scams nowadays.
Delete
