21.01.2012 | 回鄉過年

[Volume 7 Issue 1, #1300]
i think one of the reason why i don't really feel CNY coming is because i don't have a hometown to go back.. born and brought up in this same city, i see friends around busy packing to go back to their hometown for CNY, i think the "shiokness" and anticipation of heading home could be what's lacking.. though may be very tiring, i actually quite envy about that special feeling of going back hometown for major festive, haha~~ :)

  1. Balik Kampung feeling is very shiok one. I worked in Penang and Singapore before. Now, I also don't need to travel. But, my hometown has started to be a very happening town since last night.

  4. KLites would have a quiet town as the exodus begin for people traveling back to their hometowns.

And my hometown will get jammed because of all the traffic from people going back to Kelantan. @.@

  6. "Shiok" for some and not so 'shiok' for some when it involves all the hassle and trouble rushing for tickets, sandwiched in trains etc. Those days remembered one incident gotta stand all the way from KL to Penang in the train that is considered 'shiok' or no 'shiok' bro haha.

    1. wow!! really?? standing in the train all the way from KL to Penang?? hmmm, but maybe those days Bananaz was still young and energetic, so it's ok to still stand that long.. so in total, how many hours?? worse come to worse 8 hours of standing?? haha~~

  7. I know people who go travelling every CNY without fail and they have been doing it for years. Personally, festivals would be best spent with family at home. To each his own, I guess.

    Happy New Year, SK!

  9. Met a student from UTAR in our apartment lift and asked how come he is not back home at this time. He said just too bad cannot afford the expensive airfare back to East Malaysia as one year ago the cheap fares were all taken up. Poor boy got to celebrate alone in his apartment definitely NO 'shiok' for him.

  25. Many many years ago, I joined the crowd for Balik Kampung activity - booked the bus ticket 1 month earlier, stuffed everything into my small luggage, waiting for the metro bus / commuter anxiously to Puduraya, trapped in north south highway traffic jam and reached my hometown 5 hours later.
