SK, I have to agree with you. In principle however small the change, even if one sen (though that is now round up or round down), it is the duty of the merchant to give back that change to the customer. And as you said, if the cashier has run put of 5 sen, he or she should inform the customer and ask for consensus what to do about it. I know 5 sen may sound petty but principles are principles.
ReplyDeleteWah seh! My first proper comment. clap..clap...clap....
DeleteWah, Phong Hong, first one again ahh? Not bad wor you.. What happened to the rest? Yesterday one day holiday liao, today all lazy come to work maybe..
DeletePhong Hong is an early bird today ...where's STP?
DeleteHey Chris, kam ngam.. I also asked the same thing, where's STP.. hehe.. Seems that he's late these days.. Bz eating maybe..
DeleteGood Morning Bloggers! I was early but could not find comment buttons! Sigh! In the end the Chef PH overtook me. Sobs!
DeleteSo today blog about 5 sen. I am having headaches with so many 5 sen coins at home and wanna get rid or change it with the bank. I think they will shoo me off.
So I saw the Pisang's comments below asking for 5 sen to add into his collections. If I send him RM5 worth of 5 sen coins, I have to courier them at RM4.20. Rugi lah dei.
Princess Ribbon misses him everyday instead of asking for others. Your sugar daddy is busy farting & counting his 5 sen coins elsewhere la. He will be here soon! Just be patient.
DeleteSTP is still gallivanting in Bintulu.
DeleteSugar daddy? I'm laughing please.. STP cannot become sugar daddy la.. He always say this cannot afford that cannot afford, how to become sugar daddy?
DeleteAnd he always threaten by saying bye to cruel world.. I scared he "tai mm hoi", if breakup with him or what, he "tai mm hoi", go kill himself and bye to the cruel world, wah, then forever I guilty lor.. Cannot cannot, behsai behsai, cannot become sugar daddy la him..
DeleteYou make me laugh lah, Louiz! STP is only interested in food and kampua noodles. That is another reason why he cannot be sugar daddy.
DeleteBoth of you twins have wrong ideas. He can be a sugar daddy cos he loves chocolates and anything too sweet. Even ants would bite him when he sleeps. His blood is too sweet!
DeleteSTP is checking out the best Kampua noodles in sarawak.
DeleteTM, haha couldn't find the comment button? You sure?!
DeleteBut looking at the time of your comment, you were consider late already la! Here the usual first comment is around 8am++ one...
小影is busy lately right? Din't see her around, else she will be the first one usually. Anyway today Phong Hong got the first sip!
yes, Phong Hong.. i guess we also faced the same problem last time with 1sen right?? many places, fast food chains and supermarkets, tend to shortchange by a few sen.. those days when we still have the 1sen coins, 5sen is actually quite significant.. be it 1sen or 5sen, it's actually not the amount but it's the ethics and integrity of the business.. and it's our principle..
DeleteYah, is the principle thingy...so usually I will prepare the exact amount, even has the 5sen well prepared if not there'll be a lot of 5sen at home, the 5sen also money mah...so is still usable wat!
DeleteIndeed Phong Hong comments got it straight to the point.
DeleteI feel the same too. They should give back and if the customer decided not to take then they baru can masuk tabung or pocket or whatever mah
Deleteanay...if you have too many 5 sens coin DO NOT bring and chance in bank or for the matter if you have tabung of coins dont bring to bank. bring to the roadside nasi lemak seller and they will happy change for you . coz now those banks charge you money to change coins leh. Last year i bring J's tabung to bank to bank in and they charge entah rm8 or RM5 to count and masuk the account leh! Grrrr!
Significant or not that is not an issue but the principle is they should give back
Morning morning.. Alrite, no more mimic posts, no more charts, no more games.. So now, back to normal SK ownself.. Previously, you said ma, "dream on, I'm me, back to my ownself".. Chewahhh, action !! Kekekeke..
ReplyDeleteSK, yau mou? You said you run out of topics to blog.. I will never believe la, when you say like that.. You are full of surprises, full of things to talk about one wor..
DeleteTo me, SK is like a Kinder Chocolate Egg, full of surprises.. You'll never know what's he's going to post.. Hehehehe..
Eh, about your incidents, wah, I experienced many times liao lor.. Uncountable times.. Especially with McDongDong.. I usually drive-thru one, on the way back from work.. Sometimes mulut gatal, wana drive-thru munch on some nuggets or milk shake.. And I would say, most of the time, they always short-pay me back 5 cents one la..
DeleteIt's like, you hutang them, cannot.. But they hutang you, can wor..
DeleteNot only McDongDong, I think other fast food chains also like that leh..
I have also seen the opposite.. Like the person in front of me, the cashier gave him back the change.. Got 5 cents also la.. He immediately put the 5 cents into the donation/charity coin box in front of the cashier.. So maybe people thinking "aiya, you give me 5 cents also no use la, chor-teng somemore, may as well I put in the charity coin box"..
DeleteNo ahh, I never think 5 cents is such a small amount of money.. I always think, "sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit".. Imagine if one customer, they short-pay 5 cents.. 10 customers already 50 cents.. One day, takkan only got 10 customers right.. If 100 customers, then how much liao? You do the Maths lor..
DeleteI'm also an aunty kiasu, but I gotta be frank also la.. Later you say I'm hypocrite, hehe.. 5 cents is still money, but if they give me 5 cents, I will think very "chor teng" also.. Sometimes, I accumulate and I give it back to the toll cashier when I pass by the toll lor.. I normally use my T&G, but if I have many 5 cents coins, I'll give it back to the toll cashier la..
DeleteBy the way, have you guys clicked on your Loves and Likes? I've clicked mine..
DeleteWhere is STP today? Normally he is very early one wor, and say CHOP !!!
DeleteAnd where is Xiao Ying? Hmm...
DeleteThere are many topics that SK can talk about. Like zebra crossing, traffic light, heh..heh...BTW I want to say something out of topic. Do you notice that many drivers don't care about zebra crossing? Pedestrians have to look out for the cars and not the other way around. I very fed up chor! Everytime at zebra crossing the cars just zoom zoom and like that might as well abolish zebra crossing because got no meaning liao. Oooppsss...sorry ah...grandmother story coming out...
DeletePrincess never look for me :(
DeleteOoops, Chris, I suddenly think of you la, that's why I come back and wana add in my next sentence "and where's Chris".. But mana tau, eh you come in jor wor.. Hehehehehe..
DeleteOh yes Phong Hong, I notice that too.. When I sampai the zebra crossing ahh, I got to look out for cars leh, scared.. When it's time to cross also I have to look right and left and still feel scared wana cross leh.. Not the other way round, kekekekeke..
DeletePrincess - yao mou ? Bluff ... :p ..
DeleteChris, not bluffing.. Come here, feel my heart, then you'll know I bluffing or not..
DeleteHow to feel ??
DeleteChris, don't hamsap my sister.
DeleteWaah! Got gangster drama here! Chris naik miang and the victim's sista came with a warning - Don't hamsap my sister! Hear that ChrisAu? Next time she might shove a parang out from your PC screen!! Don't play play. Be a good boy and eat your cute Bento.
Deletewah .... scary ..... LOL!
DeleteOK, I keep my parang now, hah..hah..hah..hah..hah....
DeleteBetter be good boy here and redeem my bento. Oi shi!
DeletePrincess never miss me, sob sob, and then goes to a corner to sulk liao...
DeleteHaha.. All follow STP trademark liao.. Go to corner sulk or kill ourself abd bye to the cruel world..
DeleteSharon of coz I think of you too ok.. I surf fb everyday and your face is still fresh in my mind !
Ya, finish with all mimic posts and charts already, so at this moment SK got no new ideas/topics to blog already, need to crack head to come out with a topic liao, hehe. But as usual, he always able to write a topic la, and can still lure many comments one ;)
DeleteWhatever SK writes, we will all come here to lepak and chit chat.
Deleteyes, Princess Ribbon.. though 5sen is just a small amount if you view it in segregation but then see it from a big picture.. like you say, if they are going to shortchange every customer by 5sen, they could really earn a handsome amount of extras in a day!! but then i am not so bad lah, i won't give all 5sen, i think the most i have given is like 4 to make it 20sen only lah.. 80sen all 5sen coins, a bit bad lor, haha!!
DeleteHahaha, I think got people doing that, because I saw before, like they already wrapped nicely at home noted there that outside of the paper as Rm1, so when came to cashier...they just gave all coins to the cashier...aiyo!! When see like this must go to another lane, as it'll keep forever to queue because the cashier needs to pour all out to count >.<
Deletewei...if the cashier give the 5 sen back but customer put in donation box is lian cerita la. main thing is they should give back mah.
DeleteIt is the customer's right whether to give the 5sens as donation or as tip or whatever leh.
I think the customer who wrap coins and give to the cashier must have been a pissed off customer who have benn short changed once too many time.
Unless la the customer is old folk. I remember when i was small...we would count the coins and wrap RM1 in newspaper and bring to shop to buy things. Shop keeper very happy coz they are always looking for more coins
*clap clap* to Phong Hong.. no baking today? :)
ReplyDeleteComing back to 5 sen or sens, I really did not think of those coins collected by the end of the day.. maybe I seldom visit fast food chains..really very rare I eat fast food... but when I do the groceries like Jaya Jusco or Tesco, normally they will give back the change of 5 sen but not anything less cos nowadays all rounded to the nearest...
Same here babe.. In hypermarkets, they will usually round it up.. I only encounter this situation when I drive-thru in fast food chains.. Sometimes, I can't be bothered to sound them or kira with them, coz I'm rushing to go home ma, so after I pay at the cashier, I terus drive to the front to collect my food liao.. So no time to check the change and count the coins also..
DeleteBut I feel hor, we must not keep quiet also.. Consumers are always right ma, and even 1 cent is money also.. Money is hard to earn.. Imagine if 10 customers x 5 cents = 50 cents liao.. If 100 customers? How much liao...
DeleteWe Malaysian must learn to speak up. Most of the time we quietly accept and therefore customer service will not improve. And the cashiers think it is OK to just "makan" the 5 sen.
Deleteerrr, i think not only fast food chains lah, places where they charge you the 6% service tax, sure there will be high chance that your bill has a 5sen.. and nowadays, still there are supermarkets and hypermarkets that are still pricing their items at X.X9 and not rounding to the nearest 10sen!! those are really irritating lah.. that is why, i always buy three items at a go, so that it ends up with 7sen (3 times 9 is 27) which will be rounded down to 5sen.. they rugi 2sen to me better than i give them 2sen extra right?? :D
DeleteI thought everywhere have round up the sum. Is fine for me. I have nothing to worry about the 5cents because I always have faith with my 5cents... Once I always sued the 5cents to pay anything... if I have in my coins dompet. (Just to get rid of the 5cents actly) But hor... not later, when people gave changes back to me and then Aikss.... the 5 cents to come back to me again...huhuhu! So until now, I already sudah biasa with 5cents and slowly I feel 5cents also is tiny but it does matter the most when we need them.
Deletewei...not only fast food chain la. Some supermarket also like that. Like i have mentioned earlier....one outlet of a supermarket chain likes to do that at my place. cashier always tell me say sorry miss...you ada 5sens coin ka? Kita dah habis.
DeleteIf i say takde the cashier will round up instead of round down. 3times i went there 3 times kena . I wanted to ask the cashier eh that day i over paid 5 sens why not you deduct from there ah?
But then would look like very siew ka...kedekut
Collecting 5 sen is one of Bananaz's hobby so they no give I no go haha.
ReplyDeleteI always try to get rid of 5 cents..haaha
DeleteChris, you got my address right? hehe
DeleteBanana ,,, hmmm...
DeleteChris, accumulate the 5 cents and then give it back at the toll la.. Works for me..
DeletePrincess - I used touch n go la...
DeleteTM tQVM its the thought that counts & that's truly good enough no need send pos laju juz pulling Chris's leg. Like that collect 5 sen no syiok one, must personally buy things to get the 5 sen is more challenging. Very very rare to get a change of 5 sen nowadays, so Bananaz would purposely go buy bananas by looking at the price tag ending at RMX.03 then only got chance to get the 5 sen change.
Deletehahaha.. i actually have no fond on specific coin denominations lah.. i usually carry my coins with me and try my best to get rid of them soonest possible.. those coins are always useful when you go fast food or grocery shopping.. or for people who are driving and not using TnG, tolls and parking..
DeleteThat's what I do also...but I remember when I was in HK..I tried to give the cashier coins, he refused to take the coins, and just take the big note, because he wants to be very fast as he lazy to count the coins, just take the big note is easier than count the coins! =.=!
Deletewah bananaz they no give u no go ah...but what if they say they habis 5 sens already? then say thank you for bthe 5 sens discount ka or demand they die die go find and give leh?
DeleteHahaha...i recall last time cashier more concious they will dig their wallet and pay the 5 sens or 10 sens if got shortage . then end of the day baru take back
No likey the new 5 sen coin, the size too big always confused with 10 sen. The older 5 sen is so 'cute' can even feel the difference between 10 sen even without looking at it. Unlike now have to see, double see and final see to make sure if its 5 or 10 sen.
ReplyDeleteAgree. I even have problem with 20 sen and 50 sen. Maybe my eyesight is getting worse.
DeleteThose are damn fools who created almost the same sizes in gold. They should have painted our 50 sen in pink and 20 sen in blue.
DeleteBut color coins won't be helpful for the blind.
DeleteIf different size much easier. Soometimes it's hard to check the ridges that mark a 50sen coin and a 20 sen smooth one :(
oh yeah.. i have problem with the new 5sen and 10sen, as well as the gold 20sen and 50sen.. i wonder who's the moron who designed the new coins, making them so difficult to differentiate!! if not in different shapes, at least make the gap of the size bigger!!
DeleteWhat to do...is bolehland here...as you said! Hahaha...my mom always tried to avoid paying that when she goes to the morning market as some peddlers might confused with it and also the Rm10 and Rm20...really don't know who's smart idea was that >.<
DeleteI agree the size doesn't help. 5 sen and 10 sens looks similar and 20 sens and 50 sens looks similar.
Deletelike Xiao Ying said...boleh land la. Apa apa pun boleh.
hmmm...
Errr...Most of the time I also don't count the coins. This is especially in restaurants where they will gave you a lot of cents instead dollars. They can even gave you coins in one dollars, hoping you won't take it but leave it as tips!
ReplyDeleteI don't really count the small coins in restaurants la, depending who I go out with.. If with my hubby ok la.. I count, and I take every single cent.. But if going out with friends, I don't usually count and sound the waiter la "where's my 5 cents?"
DeleteDepends la....If good service, I will leave tips else all masuk my pocket.
Deleteerrr.. i am very uncle one, i count my change one woh.. and i have a habit to jot down how much i have spent everyday, down to the cents.. that is why i count!! :D
Deleterich man Chris no need count la. Can always say Keep The Change. LOL
DeleteAunties like me will count coins leh...kedekut mah.
some more i can always fall back into the line that says It's a matter of Principle. Muhahaha...
But seriously la...makes me wonder why some cashiers would want to keep the 5 sens coin. Is their self worth is only 5 sen? I am not saying this on those who genuinely no more 5 sens to return to the customers but for those who have but they go and omit in giving back to the customers. whether it is RM50 or 5sen...intentionally did not return to customer is counted as stealling....maruah diri is only 5sen meh?
I guess for big establishments like these mentioned franchise should have enough coins. It's a shame that they shortchanged which I believe it shouldn't happened. Not too sure if the staff actually purposely do it to take the extra.
ReplyDeleteChris, quite true the management should be aware to keep all coins of various denominations for day to day use. Bananaz so far so good can get 5 sen coin change with ease. Agree with you most probably the staff did it on purpose.
DeletePerhaps SK should insist and remain rooted at the cash counter to hold up the line until they pay you the 5 sen haha.
DeleteSK hit die no run & keep staring at the cashier..lolz
Deletevery true!! big establishment must ensure they have enough coins in all denominations to give the correct change to the customers!! last time when I went to Indonesia, if they run out of small coins, they give one or two sweets to replace, at least they are honest right??very true!! big establishment must ensure they have enough coins in all denominations to give the correct change to the customers!! last time when I went to Indonesia, if they run out of small coins, they give one or two sweets to replace, at least they are honest right?? unlike people here, just so indifferent and ignorant..
DeleteBananaz, 'Perhaps SK should insist and remain rooted at the cash counter to hold up the line until they pay you the 5 sen haha.', if like that SK will be video-ed and will become famous online very fast :p
DeleteOh yes Hayley, if sekali one day I see in FB got SK's face, then sure I laugh die ahh... I'm imagining the video is about SK hogging the line, and refuse to move becoz of the 5 sen.. Wah, later become the next hot topic in FB, kekekekeke.. His title will become #SK0617 instead of the current hit topic now #C*M25.. kekekekeke..
DeleteVery true Chris, usually grocery shops, 7 eleven, hypermarkets, even wet market or night market... should spare more coins. Hubby and I keep alot of coins in our piggy bank at home... once every year we will shake come out all the coins and count like hell... The piggy bank is so heavy... hubby keep shaking hopefully the coins will come out faster. Then we sort it out from 5cents, 10cents, 20cents, 50cents and also foreign coins...it took us two nights to settle that. Each bag contains each coins and written outside nicely how much is here and there. Merely RM250-RM300 we've simpan in the piggy bank. Then I exchange the coins not with the bank but to a Wantan Mee seller... he really needs alot of coins (almost every day) for his business and even 5cents he wanted as well. If I'm not wrong, if go bank to get coins, usually they will charge a fee...I'm not sure how much.
DeletePrincess Ribbon, haha! I think our friend SK sure don't wanna get famous via this way! xD
Deletebut then Sk not that thick skin face leh. how you expect him to stand in the line and hold back the line wait for the cashier to give him back the 5 sens.
DeleteYou know what i did...i geram liao i email to the HQ and ask why is that particular branch keep tarak 5 sens coin. let the HQ investigate. Yea they might investigate or they might nkt coz after all it is only 5 sen. But for those whose management is good they will investigate la. Not right to condone stealing by they staffs., if they can steal 5 sen from customer....sooner or later they will become more daring and curi a bigger amount and maybe curi from the company leh.
I think in the future, maybe you can get ready some coins like 5 cents to give them. Though not your responsibilities, it's better not to keep too many coins in our pocket too. I usually make sure I have small changes whenever I took cab as the drivers usually gave me a face when I handed them 50 dollars note.
ReplyDeleteI will keep the 5 sen in my purse and if my bill comes to something something with 5 sen, I happily dig out the 5 sen to pay. I learnt that from my partner. That's how we get rid of our coins and avoid being shortchanged,
DeleteI had a coin pouch ..... that will solved my small change problem. Also can use it to buy 100 plus after work out.
Deleteyeah.. it would be good to carry some 5sen.. just in case you asked why you are being shortchanged of 5sen, and they say they run out of 5sen.. give them one piece of your 5sen and get them pay you 10sen.. so they would also have one piece of 5sen for the next customer..
DeleteYes, great idea ChrisAu! I do make sure I have 1 or 2 5 sen in my purse, of course not just 5 sen la, other coins as well. Sometimes really feel paiseh if the thing I bought is RM 1.10, but I give the cashier RM 2 to change, haha! So must spare some coins all the time.
DeleteNo dice not for Bananaz to part away his precious 5 sen coin haha.
DeleteMost probably SK have 5 sens coins la but just imagine from morning to night...if he have 5 meals outside then how many 5 sens should he keep with him leh. Susah jugak leh. lama lama all 5 sens coins also will habis diguna mah
DeleteI remember there was once in Aeon they prepare some small coins for their clients. If you lack of coins, you can simply take the 10 cents of 5 cents to pay. I think they don't practise it anymore.
ReplyDeleteYah, I remember that! But don't see that anymore.
Deletebecause they stopped dy! :(
Deletehahaha.. it's no surprise that many initiatives just died quietly in Malaysia..
DeleteReally? Hmm I din't know got such things back then, so outdated la! :p But cannot blame me also cause there's no Aeon at Taiping, haha!
DeleteGot le Hayley...maybe you always pay by card every time? Hehe! (joke, joke)
Delete小影,haha no la! Where got so many card to pay with? :p
DeleteBut there is no Aeon here la, I think that's the main reason why I din't know lo...
hahaha...most likely customer or maybe the cashier took the extra and masuk pocket end of the day leh.
DeleteLOL.
Yea i recall that initiative too.
I like the Japanese restaurant which I alway frequent in SG. Usually, I ordered the same bento and when I hand them the notes, they always never failed to give me 15 cents back.
ReplyDeletebecause S$0.15 is not a small amount!! hahaha~~ :D
DeleteSee can tell you are such a big fan of Japanese food! ;)
DeleteHmm I think Sg is better la when it comes to service and attitude.
speaking of SG...remember in old days or not...Malaysian coin and SG coins of 5sen and 10 sens always interchangeable. That was back in the 80s.
DeleteSometimes buy things then see the change is 10cents singapore coin
Aiyo...what happened to my feeds.... got new post but not updated ...sigh!
ReplyDeleteIt happens all time to me wor.. So what I usually do is, when I have the time, I'll click one by one on the link, and check if the blogger published any new posts or not.. Sometimes by the time I find out, already 1 day ago leh the blogger published..
DeleteThis post was updated in my feed one hour later. I was lucky this morning I tekan-tekan, saw this new post.
DeleteI remembered I checked on SK's post this morning, and it didn't appear yet.. Then I did some office work and all, came back to check my feed, aikks, SK's post was published 1 hour ago wor !!! Hmm..
DeleteAll our PCs can throw into dustbin and buy latest MacAir. I saw his post but could not click the comments. I was so blurr and didn't know need to click the title. Cheh!
DeleteMy feeds not back yet despite I publish and unpublished my blog ! Geram !!
Deletehappens to this post this morning also.. and actually have been very frequent.. i have to republish my posts two three times only it will appear in the blogroll..
DeleteSometimes it happens to me also, don't know what's wrong with this blogspot la! Geram je!
DeleteYah lo! Same here..I saw I missed the time already...so I came back today, hahaha~~~
DeleteBlogspot got problem la. Biasa la tu. tarak bayar 5 sen pun to blogspot so problem also banyak la LOL
DeleteWoii Thambee, I never put in much thoughts about the shortchanged 5 sen which happened so often and I bet every blogger has experienced too. Today, it really got me into thinking hard on this matter. I would conclude that if their act was deliberate, then they were simply ignorant and bad mannered!!! @#$%@*!!!
ReplyDeleteI will continue my habit to count and count all the coins from now. If they cheat me, I will scream CB at the cashier!!!
OMG, I'm laughing so loud !! You will really scream CB at the cashier? If the cashier is a male how? CB also?
DeleteWhat's CB ?
DeleteHello Eggs.
DeleteWhat is CB?
SK once said Cantek Betul.
AIA said Cash Bonus.
TM ranted Cerita Benar.
eh.... i know already ...chicken biscuits!
DeleteCis! Bedencis!
DeleteChris, are you sure you dunno what's CB? Don't make me laugh til I puke.. I just had Hainan chicken chop..
DeletePrincess - I very good boy one..u know.
Deletemuahahaha!! though i may believe Twilight Man to shout CB at the cashier, i personally definitely will not do so lah.. i will just stand there to hold the queue until i get my 5sen lah..
DeleteCB = Chicken Burger lah!! ChrisAu's wife make that for him to eat for free every night one mah.. you all forgotten??
Hmmmmmmmm .....
DeleteTM, wah you sound so garang, if any cashier really step on your 'tail' then it's his/her bad luck, 'sui' lo...
DeleteBut you can say anything to the cashier, just please don't shout 'see what you did you to my car? Pay me now!' :p
I'm laughing so hard now..
DeleteLOL...funny la yopu anay. But now seems that more and more cashier is "deliberately" doing that. short change 5 sens to customers.
DeleteOr maybe now we more money wise so we noticed more ah....money not enough ahhhh .
I can imagine how you cream at them la. But hor...maybe they will make lovely dovey eyes at you leh
....."once is incompetent, twice is unprofessional, thrice is unethical...." I like this saying. Thambee invented this proverb kah? I only heard of Once Bitten, Twice Shy....
ReplyDeleteI will give them chance and thrice bitten, they will surely die. (from me)
What would you do when you catch him/her for 3 times??
"Any lawyer to enlighten?".... Eh, I realised no lawyers read our blogs!
Wah, TM, I like what you write leh..
DeleteOnce bitten, twice shy, thrice and you surely die !!
Wah, geng !!
Lawyers? Maybe got, who knows.. But they prefer to remain silent..
DeleteAhem. Ahem. Tenkiu.
DeleteI think only Lawyer Buruks will read my blogs silently and roll on the floor laughing.
hahaha.. i think no lawyers will be interested in this crap blog also.. :D
DeleteHaha yes, I love that saying of yours too TM!
DeleteSK, if you say your blog is crap blog, I think mine can go to the bin liao.. Mine rojak blog, everything can talk.. Radio deejay la, depression la, lunch post la, lousy baking and cooking la, ranting on kids la, and some issues with work and politics.. So if you say your professional blog is crap blog, mine is bin blog liao.. Can throw..
Deletewei...wehn you say this must really make qoute and give credit to the inventor aka SK la , ANay
DeleteLawyer wont answer leh coz each consultation will takes money leh. no money no talk
True, 5 sen is also money. Never shortchange my customers. In fact, I gave them extra. If their bill comes to say RM50.05, I will just collect RM50. But if their change is RM33.05, I still give the exact change. Very rare customers refuse the 5 sen change.
ReplyDeleteah, this is very honest business.. everyone please go and buy your stuffs from Chang Jiang Enterprise in Ipoh, okay??
DeleteThat's very good practice wenn! No wonder your CJ shop business so good =)
DeleteIf there are more honest cashier like in Chang Jiang is bagus leh.
DeleteYes, some shop will waive off the sens ...some makan shop does that too. like yesterday went to noodles shop and we dont have 20 sens coins. the boss waived the 20 sens.
我是看5sen很重的人来的
ReplyDelete不是輕重的問題, 而是原則的問題~~
DeleteAgree on all counts!
ReplyDeleteso do you insist on getting the exact change all the time??
DeleteOf course I do.
DeleteIf hubby lagi worse. He insisted on cancelling the transaction (only applicable if not yet eat) :P
salute Zaini! but betul leh. This will give good example to everyone. see if the cashier will be so daring anymore or not
Delete我完全贊同你嘅講法。呢到最近仲離譜,自把自為將總數最後為數進位,分分鐘食咗9耗子都敢!
ReplyDelete嘩!! 9毫子咁狼死?? 呢個好過份囉~~
DeleteTalking about 5 cents, my uncle used to have a lot of 5 cents that my cousins used to call him 5 cent uncle, durinig CNY, he will used the 5 cents when "gambling" with my cousins, kaka....
ReplyDeletehmmm, your uncle opens shop and always shortchanged the customers 5sen?? :D
DeleteSharon, really? ‘Gamble' using the 5 sen ar? I bet he sure has A LOT of 5 sen!!
Deletehaha... No lah, hehe... He went to buy things, the 5 cents he had, he keeps it, then during CNY, he used it to 'gamble' with my cousins...
DeleteHayley, yes he has a lots of 5 cents, that's why my cousin gave him the nickname 5 cent uncle... hehe...
shh shhh shhh...illegal leh if gambling with money....
Deleteso youir uncle got open shop or not and use the 5 sens? how he have so many 5 sens ya
There's a time when i was in a coffeeshop buying popiah, the lady seller told me that the most 5 cent she will collect is 4 5 cents as her is a small business, if more, can go supermarket to use the 5 cents...
ReplyDeleteactually i also paiseh to give all 5 cents to buy things lah.. the most i give will be 4 lah, i think more than that a little bit bad.. haha!!
DeleteHaha it's true SK, feel paiseh, cause need time for the cashier to count the 5 sen, and if the queue is long at the back, sure kena complain one, LOL!
DeleteBut then, if no use the 5 sen, keep on collecting and keep at home also no use wo... Takkan bring to bank to exchange meh? They sure don't want lo! Actually I have lots of 5 sen in my piggy bank leh, and some are even coins (20 sen, 50 sen) which are already 'rusty', you know some coins got black/brown stain on it, cannot remove one, if use to buy things sure the cashier reject one, same theory with notes which are torn/got pen stain on it.
So what to do with those coins ar?
That's why I like to pay exact change so I can use all my coins. LOL
Delete我可以捐钱给需要的人...但是如果是长期"捐"给商人..就...
ReplyDelete對呀!! 寧願捐給有需要的人, 也不要給奸商得逞~~
DeleteI hate it when they tag everything at 95 sen...like 4.95 and then collect RM5.00 and quietly keep the change. They can just tag the item at RM5.00, cannot understand why they must do things like that.
ReplyDeleteTo give the impression that the item is cheap I guess. Even more ridiculous is with 99 sen knowing jolly well it will be rounded up.
Deletefirst, so that to give you an impression the things is cheaper.. second, so that they can earn you 1sen or 5sen more, since when they report their sales, they report base on the shelf price and not what the customer paid.. understand?? that is why, speak out and insist on your change!!
DeleteIt's business tactics la! Some shops even have a big banner saying 'everything ends with 99 sen!' etc.
DeleteSo if go buy things at shops like this, give them all small change, collect lots of 5 sen then give them one shot, haha!
Eh, STP is here liao.. Did he read the sugar daddy part?
DeleteYeah...even how small it is...cents are still money and valuable...
ReplyDelete-May- at: http://capturingthyinterest.blogspot.com/
yes, that is absolutely right!!
DeleteYou know, my experience is mostly the opposite. Jokers love giving me change in 5 cents coins. I've once got 16 x 5 cents coins as RM0.80 change, when I can see they have the 50 cents and 20 cents coins in their cash register. I didn't scold CB, I used LLM, Cantonese ma >.<
ReplyDeletehahaha.. then you could help others buy paying them all in 5sen, so that they do not have excuse to shortchanged the next customers.. oh, you are doing good for many people, amitabha.. no more CB or LLM!! haha~~
DeleteSK, the Chinese word 5 仙 *xiān* is same word for *fairy*? Is it because *xiān* sounds like *sen* ?
ReplyDeleteyes bingo!! you are all right, Bananaz so cleber lah!!
DeleteBananaz your question makes me wonder also is it the same word..
DeleteHmm but yes la, I think it's the same word, just different 声调。
Where got, where got..* nǎlǐ nǎlǐ *
DeleteI'm still curious.. Bananaz is male or female.. Male right?
DeleteI always donate the 5 cents to charity
ReplyDeleteHappens to me too, like when buying at McD, they have this charity coin box at the counter, if I got the 5 sen I'll drop it into the box. Actually not only McD la, lots of places also got...
Deleteerrr, i actually keep all my change because i have a habit to bring along my coins and get rid of them quickly.. they are indeed useful when comes to fast food chain and supermarkets, and the hawker aunties uncles all like coins one..
DeleteI also got keep the change, and 5 sen or 1 sen is very useful when you go pay bills at TNB or Telekom, haha!
DeleteCorrect, those hawker aunties uncles don't mind to receive coins since they use it regularly.
Haha, running outta topic to blog? Hmm, actually me too! But I am sure at the end of the day, you can still come out with something la! And we will come and spam kao kao~
ReplyDeleteWell, I am actually surprise when I read that you were being shortchanged many times! As far as I can remember, I hardly experience such circumstances. Perhaps just once or twice.
Hmm happened at the same outlet some more? Wah you can still remember it was 3 times and 2 times? Hehe...
Looks like the management isn't concern about this lo, else it won't happen so frequently already ma right? They din't do something about it, sigh~
Then is it the same staff who shortchanged you?
yalah, i remember because i was trying to test them mah.. not the same cashier and i think because nobody speak out about the persistent shortchanged so they also didn't bother to do anything.. hmm, the last time i wanted to voice out, the cashier quickly turned away to prepare my order and then shouted for the next customers.. i was like, okay, 我忍你這次, treat as donated to charity~~
DeleteHmm this outlet so bad, bully you!
DeleteYala, sometimes angry at them also no use, think positive, 算是豪给他们!xD But if happens very frequently I also cannot tahan, sure will voice out, I am someone who takes consumer rights very seriously ;)
Yep, anything also must at least ask before hand, rather than just act like nothing, 好像没事发生理所当然这样。。I understand your feeling here, like totally being ignored. Ya la 5 sen is small but still is money ma!!
ReplyDelete1. Correct, no merchant shall overchange or shortchange, that's something so 'common sense'! Have to do business the proper way.
They should really prepare enough instruments for example small change and coins every single day, and must check the availability regularly, I think this is something every merchant should obey la!
If there's really no more 5 sen (or other coins), at least have the courtesy to tell the customer politely, it's a service attitude they must understand.
2. Huh? I cannot imagine why the cashier did it on purpose lo! So dishonest leh! But really, if everyday collect a few 5 sen, slowly can become a value already.
3. Correct, 5 sen is small, actually I think many don't mind about it, but it's still money! Collect 100 5 sen is already RM 5 leh! Sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit ma!
Ya la sometimes it's unavoidable to run out of coins for certain shops, but if too frequently then means something is not right la, must do something about it.
4. Very well said SK!
Wah, I am so late today. I say must speak up, especially if it is a chain store. If 5 cent is so small, why don't they waive it if they don't have 5 cent change. They don't because every cent counts so we should get it back. Some pa ma shop did waive the 5 cent when they do not have change so they are really nice shop keepers.
ReplyDeleteI did speak up a few times when it is a franchise establishment and lo and behold they did manage to find a 5 cent to give me as change. Good night!
I'm more late than you....I';m trying to catching up as mush as I can....
DeleteOh now I remember something when I was reading the above comments.. I think I kena two times already in coffeeshops.. I gave them two 5 sen coins and they rejected them! Yes, rejected.. the one who served tolak the 5 sen coins, her excuse was.. "some customers don't want them when I gave them change in 5 sen..." eh.. any logic in this? I thought coffeeshops want any loose change one.. but not 5 sen.. funny!
ReplyDeleteClaire, 5 sen is still legal tender. They cannot reject. But then how do we complain?
DeleteHello Claire,
DeleteHere, I did pay using two 5 cents before and they did accept them so I am surprise to know that they refused to accept your two 5 cents. What if you say no more money, only have these two 5 cents, then they would have no choice but to accept them, right? I guess they won't say no if you say you have no other money apart from the two 5 cents.
For me as I mentioned beofre I alwasy have faith with 5cents...I will always have 5cents in my coins purse... although I try to get rid of it buy paying at 7 eleven, Tesco and so on... Then... it will come back to me again when people got the change for me... hu hu.... no choice accept it or else just drop the 5cents into the donation box... that's it....hehehe
DeleteActually, I don't really mind if they don't give me the 5 sen, but I prefer if they let me know first that they run out of 5 sense. Not informing the customer is quite rude!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agreed on that. So far for me, I never met this incident before yet. They usually will inform me when they are trying to get change. Or the other way will asked me for small change so they give back me the balance. On the other side, I will offer them not to give me back too... hehehe sometimes lar... I'm not that generous all the time too. Then the staff will say thank you to me in return. we are both happy about that.
DeleteI noticed you're coming back here to spam ya... good lar.. lack of men here... Worth coming back here for 5cents right?
DeleteOops! Should be 5 sens not 5 sense. haha! Damn auto-correct! :D
ReplyDeleteThis's so funny, maybe you should type in 5 cents instead? Sometimes the auto-correct thing is a bit annoying, it happens to me as well when I was typing fast!
DeleteBut then again, even if they give me back the 5 sen coin, I will say keep the change cos I just don't like to keep coins haha! Except 50 sen coins - that one will rugi if don't take. Haha!
ReplyDeleteHey If I found there's a change of 5cents, I will always look for donations box beside the cashier.... so I can drop my 5cents there... good right?
DeleteAt least I'm doing something good with the 5cents lor. Not throwing away.
Delete#01- Ignore totally will worsen the situation lor. Being a cashier is not an easy task. Easily and always will short of money… many hypermarket they always give an extra of e.g: RM100-200 as a cushion for them, just in case there’s a shortage incident the amount will deduct from there. Shortage in hypermarket will always happen. So if they don’t have shortage for the month that amount of RM100 -200 will be their monthly allowances - a motivation for the cashier to act honest all the time. We customer has the right to get back our 5cents change.
ReplyDelete#02 – Why everytime happened to you one? Or your face too sincere easily bully by other people… hehehe. Just pulling your legs. If it keeps happen to you in the same hypermarket or shops. You can either report to the service counter. Bring your bills as an evidence. Furthermore, get to recognise the cashier face or their staff /employee number…. So they can go investigate them. The best is to complaint on the exact day… not 2-3 days after that. Or else the evidence not so concrete already. We are not trying to get them in trouble but just want to make things clear.
#03 – If in your purse you have one or two 5cents… you can’t see that much. But if you keep inside your piggy bank and just continue to save more a longer period, you can actly got more than that. 5cents is very tiny, in order to have RM1 you’ll need to have 20pcs of 5cents.
If the cashier doesn't have 5sen to pay me back, then the cashier should pay me back 10 sen, other Yannie will wait for the change at the counter. I am serious ok. Two 5 sens is 10 sens. But if the person informs me politely, I will accept it. Attitude is very important.
ReplyDeleteGood morning SK and all/ aha the 5 sen incidents ah...i kena before many times la.
ReplyDeleteThere was a certain supermarket chain at my old place that does this often
ReplyDeleteeach time buy things if got the 5 sens, she will say she have no 5 sens . and then ask if got or not. if i dont have then she will charge me extra 5 sen...why have to round up and not round down? Still rememeber our school days if the number is odd number then round up and if the number ends with even number then round down...or is it terbalik...well the fact is she always round up leh.
Really makes me geram. There was a time i feel like go home korek out all the 5 sen coins from tabung and pay purchase with all 5 sens coins. leh her count till gila.
yea i now...it's very remeh temeh thing but the still 5 sen is money mah. Sikit skit lama lama jadi bukit.
ReplyDeletetrue what you say ...if one day the shop or restaurant have 100 customer and each customer she did not give back 5 sen...by end of month can really count leh.
yeh i dont mind giving tips but this is sorta dishonest and forced one leh
