Good sunny Sunday morning to you too fing-fing. Feeling bored, huh? Head on over to the BBW sale. It's their last day today. Be part of the 60-hour sale. Who knows, you might meet Meow there too.
ReplyDeleteSK, I bet you too are all set for your new career in the new year. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteWanakum SK & HappySurfer & All, phew HS you are early 7 early 8 early what are you doing up so early already.
ReplyDeleteWhen as kid no going places on holidays, no iPHone or iPad to pinch merely free activities, ie catching fighting fishes, fly kite, top spinning etc where the modern kids in town would not have the opportunity to play or even hear about it.
ReplyDeleteBananaz, a post on these old school activities would make an interesting read. You think?
DeleteIn certain years can still remember on the last day of school was the last time Bananaz ever touched the school bag until school reopens. Yeah lots of activities on my vey own.
DeleteI hated all my school life! I enjoyed playing with neighbors! I enjoyed going out stations around Malaysia. I spent much weekends in Penang going fishing. Bad karma!! I have stopped fishing.
DeleteI'm sure there's a way to reverse the karma. No? I read that fishes don't feel any pain but the thought of a hook stuck in the roof of one's mouth, for instance, would make anyone flinch. Ouch!
DeleteHappySurfer, how? you mean 'amrak'?
DeleteAnay, Good on ya, 'san chai san chai'. Bananaz did'nt go fishing during schooling time but only while working. However in later stage of life hung up the fishing rod after great compassion developed.
DeleteBananaz, I don't know much about amrak but from what I read, it's not quite it.
DeleteA lot of people don't believe in karma but it does exist. It is part of (everyone's) life, whether we like it or not. Merits of karma is just as easily obtained as demerit points though with human nature as it is, it is easier to accumulate demerit points. Ironic, isn't it?
Are we out of topic? However, religious classes can be a great holiday camp for the kids.
As for reversal of karma, I believe high-level spiritual leaders will be able to give some guidance on it. Let me share here an experience of a girlfriend.
DeleteShe has a friend who has a very sick mom located in his own country. Upon consultation, a monk advised to release some crabs. My girlfriend was stunned about the instruction being aware that her friend loves to eat crabs, a lot. The mom recovered after the release of crabs. Coincidence? I don't think so. There are certain things we can do more to alleviate from certain hardships and death resulting from.
Incidentally, this monk is destined for bigger things, I'm sure. He is right now nurturing a nephew who is the reincarnate of his own teacher/guru. Coincidence? I believe everything happens for a reason.
This is going to cost me points, but oh well..
HappySurfer thought you said karma in reverse then its 'amrak'. You can't google for this word which is spelled in reverse *was pulling your leg* haha. OK back to your story there could be some element of truth in the crabs story. Very interesting tQ for your great sharing on the universal law of cause and effect.
DeleteOh, I didn't catch that but there really is an amrak philosophy.
DeleteThanks for clarifying.
Kids actually don't need hi-tech gadgets or expensive travel to keep them entertained.
DeleteThough it's of course nice to have. ^^
My son enjoys playing games but he also kena drag outdoors to enjoy the fresh air (without taking the games along) and at home, enjoy doing arts & crafts and drawing too.
My daughters have a very busy schedule during school holidays too.
DeleteI will mark a few pages of workbooks for them to do every day.
After doing workbooks, they have to play piano for a while. Then I will allow to do things that they like.
They will read books, watch TV and play with their toys.
In the evening, they have to go for Table Tennis training, swimming training and cycling in front of our house.
No gadget like iPad or iPhone. Only when mummy wanted to do something on her laptop, they were allowed to play for a while at night before bedtime.
I can see my princesses are kind of busy in the schoool holidays.
As for myself when I was young, I would go to play with neighbour. May be I would also go to my granny house to play with my cousins.
DeleteNot much memory la!
The kids now are luxury than us when we were young. My girls watched a few movies this school break.
DeleteNext week the school is reopened. The tuition starts and everything back to stressful routine. It isn't easy to be kids now too. The world is getting very competative.
Long school break, I will take my annual leave and bring the kids to go somewhere and have fun. This was to reward their good performance throughout the year.
DeleteSince I am a working mother, I try to spend some quality time with the kids at the school holiday.
At the same time I will remind them to work harder in the coming year, and I will bring them somewhere else again in next school break.
agree with what Lina said. Kids dont really need expensive toys
Deletesimply home DIY already enough. Maybe SK can DIY something with fing fing at home so that he dont feel so boring
Good morning again, Bananaz! You're right. I should still be in bed this 7-early 8-early but how with the sun so inviting outside and the blue sky high above? Also, the world didn't end gives a new drive to living. Doesn't it? LOL You, have a wonderful day ahead too.
ReplyDeleteOccasionally spent a week or so with cousins 'helping' out in tapping rubber trees actually play more than work because can go swimming in river or spent a week or so in uncle's kopitiam 'helping' out just to get free soft drinks. Back at home can only have soft drinks during Chinese festival celebration. Well simple and thrifty and happy.
ReplyDeleteI spent time doing "business" when on school holiday. But when I was at home lah... I tend to go elsewhere on school holidays.
DeleteHelped manned a kacang rebus stall (alone!) in front of funfairs in my hometown. Also helped my parents with selling soya drinks and tau foo faa during fasting month. It was fun!
And no, no extra income for me. All proceeds went to my mom. ;p
My kids helped their father at the shop. Now sometimes they still do even though they are bigger now.
Deletewow...tak sangka Lina such a businesswoman leh.
DeleteGood morning everyone! The sun looks bright and hope it stays that way today. I wished everyday is a Sunday and holiday. Fing Fing goes to school? Muahahahaha
ReplyDeleteGot. Monkey school. Oops! Couldn't help it..
ReplyDeleteErrrr....I went to Thailand at every school break from the time I was born until I finished secondary school. It was a boring routine for me when I had too much of Thailand visits. It was not a shopping or glamorous trip. I had to stay at my grandpa's house where they drank rain water collected from the roof! I played in murky flood waters every December with neighbourhood kids. Anay's life was very sheltered there with maids and armed plain clothes men following there. Sounds so arrogant but it was no fun it was quite dangerous in the South of Thailand in those days.
ReplyDeleteWah! Annay's life was so luxurious back then, with maids and bodyguards.
DeleteI stayed at home during school holidays because my dad needed to work and received his daily wage salary. No work means no income. I usually spent the day playing and fighting with my sisters, nope, no revision was done~ :p
wah travel "oversea" ah last time....me didnt even have a passport till am in my 20s leh...bau aeroplane also never smell before...sigh...
DeleteFing Fing goes to Pets Grooming School to learn to swing from trees and do banana tricks! SK gets entertained daily.
ReplyDeleteHS, what! Monkey school? lolz monkey see monkey do & guess Magilla Gorilla would be the headmaster. Not many may know who is this Magilla Gorilla haha.
ReplyDeleteI didn't travel anywhere too those days. My family is poor too. I remember I would only watch tv and played outside games. Of course I helped my mum with her housework.
ReplyDeleteI do housework daily during school holiday or on school days. ;p
DeleteDid the family laundry by hand!
Helped care for our vegetable patch too.
Despite going to both national primary school and also attend an Islamic school, seemed like I had plenty of time to waste when I was small.
Maybe because I didn't waste any time watching TV or spent it staring at computer screen! ;p
well holidays might also means additional household chores too haha
Deleteunlike shcool days my mom would want me to do my homework and sleep early than to do chores haha
yes, more housework for mum like us. We need to make sure everything is in order. I would usually sent my kids to their father's shop so that I could do my housework at peace.
DeleteMy children's school holidays means more fun for them, no school, only play, sleep and eat.
DeleteBut not for me; because I'm a working mother, my routine stays the same 24/7.
Had so much fun with friends all around then. Kids these days are bored stiff during their long holidays and spend their time playing online games even when those parents who can afford it bring them to all those exciting places.
ReplyDelete现在休息好像更忙
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday everyone!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was small, I usually spent my school holidays over at my grandparents. One lived in the kampung so I got the experience of kampung life - fishing, mandi sungai, climbing up trees, chasing chickens, etc and one set lived in Shah Alam so I got to experience the city life too - going to malls, spending time in Shah Alam library, etc.
When I was in secondary school, I'd spent my school holidays attending camp that I registered myself - and only spent about 1 week at home during the semester break. My school has only two semester breaks (one month each) unlike normal, national type school.
when my kids were young, I always took them out for a holiday especially in KL. Otherwise, I would take them for a movie or a swim. But now that they are big, they prefer to sit in front of the pc.
DeleteI wasn't bored like Fing Fing at all when I was young during school break~
DeleteI cycled around the neighbourhood, got chased by the dogs, played masak-masak with real fire! I never got the chance to travel outstation, not until I finished my secondary school I visited KL and had A&W for the very first time in 1996 :D
*suaku*
maybe SK should have registered Fing fing in some holidays activities so that fing fing not so bored. Like Lina...very innovative in finding holidays activities
DeleteThe monkey is so adorable! i love how it just peeks out like that :D
ReplyDelete以前假期都要出去鋪頭幫手,其實我唔係幾中意學校假期,仲辛苦過返學。
ReplyDeleteWhy is Fing Fing feeling bored and has nothing to do?
ReplyDeleteMust be because Daddy SK never bother to play with Fing Fing lah!
Ask SK to teach you to do tricks, go out to parks so you can swing on trees, go out for makan... Plenty f stuff to do that won't cost much.
Go drag SK out for an outing! ;p
The kids nowadays are not as boring as last time. Just the Xiao Tai Yang, Cartoon Network or Disney Channel can keep them occupy whole day long.
DeleteBesides, there are gadget like iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab games available.
I see my kids no complain about boring at all one. Except asking me when they can go out cycling and swimming only.
This holiday I also let my girls help me to fold their clothes. Girls ma! Must learn doing some house chores. Otherwise I will be compliant by their future PILs.
Deletewell kids just can't survive staying still for a period of time
ReplyDeletestudies shows that they divert their mind every five minutes so i guess that why most kids enjoy this point of the year the most
It's better to let kids let loose sometimes and enjoy a boisterous time instead of just sitting still. Right? :)
Deleteyeah i agree to you lina,
Deletethere a study shows that they would be more proper at school if we let them play at home
well i not from any rich family as well, I often stay at hope playing with my brothers back then
ReplyDeletesometime we visit our aunt and stay for several weeks there
Oh, at least you can consider those relative-stay as your holidays retreat :)
DeleteMy aunts and uncles stayed very near to my house and I went to their house to play with my cousins in the morning and came home for lunch in the afternoon. In the evening, I would look for my neighbours to play :D
well fing fing just can't think of anything new to do i guess haha,
ReplyDeletei mean he did almost everything
perhaps he's quite tired being crazy haha
tell fing fing to play with that tiger stuff toy wenn gave you so he wont get bored
ReplyDeletethere's still a lot of thing to do make the most out of his time
haha I was browsing online yesterday i found this group of people who treat a certain brand of doll as kids, there were even talking in behalf of them true phone and having some get together were they watch their dolls on swing
ReplyDeletehaha for a moment i feel like them coz i somehow had this strange feeling that i was seeing my son mike's emotion
ReplyDeletei mean there something i feel when he was jealous or something haha
anyways school break before was different nowadays,
ReplyDeleteback then we were playing some active stuff outside, unlike the kids now which prefer to sit in front of computer surfing online or playing games,
i think old days was still happpier
nowadays kids prefer to sit in front of the computer whole day just like what my boy is doing.
Deletehaha yeah they find it more fun,
Deletewell i can't blame them by that
even me i was in front of my pc the whole day
even he's doing something or doing nothing fing fing was still cute,
ReplyDeletehe has this certain amount of carisma
have a great day and happy blogging sk,
ReplyDeletegod bless you and take the best of care always
and lastly happy holidays to you as well
my school holidays as a child was spent in penang with my grandparents. Fun except communicating with grandma was a big task since I spoke zero Chinese.
ReplyDeleteWhoah!
ReplyDeleteDaddy SK must have been enjoying a swinging good time with Fing Fing, going out to the Zoo today.
Haven't seen SK leaving footprints yet. ;)
Yea, fing fing looks happy here!
ReplyDeleteIts a long weekend for some of us..
DeleteMy hometown is pack with cars since yesterday >.<
Ya today is last day of school holiday.
ReplyDeleteFing fing getting bored liao ah? never mind la...soon will be back to school
funny la the education sys here. kejap 5 weeks hols then kejap 7 weeks hols. One different emperor on different style.
i remember my school holidays...usually first or second week will follow school trip go here and there
then after that ownself find entertainment lor. watvh tv or read story books. ..then when nearer to school starts will ajak friends go to the school book shop and buy books for the next year. wah lau eh....last time no trolley bag. really darn heavy to carry those books naik bus home leh. then come home have to owneslef balut buku....
