went to the "breadboy" in KLCC yesterday to grab two sandwiches, the total should be RM3.80 but maybe the cashier was too busy and made a mistake charging me RM4.00.. initially i wanted to just let it be, but i saw a sudden change of expression on her face, obviously she was aware that she has made a mistake, furthermore her colleague also whispered to her about the mistake.. i gave her a RM10 note and when getting me the change, i saw her paused in doubt, probably deciding whether to return me the correct RM6.20 or to follow the RM6.00 the cash register stated.. in the end she returned me RM6.00 of change.. i think she was aware of her mistake but trying to act ignorant, this is so dishonest!! of course i was not happy, so i asked her the unit price of the sandwiches, and quickly she topped up RM0.20 to my change.. despite RM0.20 is just a small amount, this is not just about RM0.20 but the credibility standpoint, if she was aware of her mistake yet intend to cover it up, i really cannot accept such dishonest deed.. so i have every right to get back my money, for even just a single sen..

  2. If that's done intentionally, then it's not nice of her. She probably didn't want the hassle of correcting the error on the register. Still.. It's not about the money, I'm with you.

  3. You know, I'm still not quite used to the new coins. They seem so... toy-like, if you know what I mean but I do like the two golden ones though. I still say the font needs some improving - a bolder font type would be easier to read.

    1. Get used to it! You're not getting the old ones back. Amazing how people keep crying out for change and when there is a little change, they grumble till no end...

    2. STP, get used to it! There'll always be pros and cons to everything. Besides, I'm not grumbling - that I don't do at all - just sharing my thoughts. So hard to take, meh? Get used to it! haha..

Granted it's a small difference but I asked her to show me the price again to reconfirm. And I asked nicely also. But when she frowned at me for "daring" to ask her that, sorrylah... She was blatantly being dishonest in my eyes already. Even if the money didn'yt go into her pocket.

    3. Hehehe, I didn't experience such encounters in my humbly small town.

Or, maybe I'm too ignorant and didn't realize people are taking advantage of me, by cheating the few cents away? Anyway, I seldom pay the bill, usually the head of the family does that. I just push the cart and fill it up XD

    4. Some of my friends never check the cash register display or their receipts when they go shopping.

For me, I looked at each of the items scanned to see whether the price is correct and as per what was displayed.

Sometimes it's not due to dishonesty but because their system yet to update the new prices. So as a consumer, must be vigilant la...

    5. I'm like your friends, never check! Let them cheat me if they want! God is all seeing and all-knowing when they cheat a nice and harmless, poor old man. What goes around comes around - they will get their dues. Cheating me of a few sen and ringgit will not make them rich either.

    6. I agree with STP and Ah Hua. Small town people more humble and harmless. I seldom met with bad people in my home town. If got bad people doing business in my hometown, we sure spread our words to the whole town and get everyone to boycott that shop, then, he no need to do business already.

    1. if it's accidental, just say sorry and rectify the mistake la... Not hard what.

I also used up work as cashier last time. Wrongly punched item code, ask supervisor tp void it la. :(

    2. but some supervisor if void too many times will kena KNS.

      Delete
    3. I don't think the cashier in "breadboy" did it on purpose. It was already punched into the registry. She can't have that 20 cents anyhow.

But she was merely plain lazy to rectify her error and hope SK would miss out the 20 cents. Clearly, nothing escapes SK's sight, lol!

Is it so hard to admit she's wrong? Sigh....

      Delete
    4. Yvonne,
Seems like we Malaysians are not the type to say "sorry" when we did things wrong.

Heck! A lot of times, hard to say thank you when kindness is offered too! o.O

      Delete
    5. About time WE change all that!

The onus is on us parents to teach our children to say please, excuse me, thank you and sorry!

Had a hard time drilling my students into doing this when I was teaching...and it seemed that they would only do it in front of me! Tsk! Tsk!

What kind of parents do we have around - never teach their kids good manners?

      Delete
    6. I thought parents now put sole blame on teachers?

Anything wrong with their kids, all teachers fault lah! They where got time to teach values one... All so busy. And all so uncivilised also. xD

  7. Last week I went to eat my lunch at the coffee shop near my office. I ordered special roasted chicken rice and was charged RM6.50 to which I gave a 50 dollar bill. She returned me RM33.50 only. When I walked over to the stall to explain to the lady boss, her worker who gave me the change protested very loudly that she had given me correct change. I smiled and told the lady boss that I have been a long time customer of hers & would not kick a small fuss. She quickly passed me RM10 and told her worker to keep her mouths shut. LOL

    1. Reminds me of one time at Pertama Complex at a stall where I used to visit regularly during my college years. After I finished eating only I realised that I've been given less change by the staff so I went back and to the staff about it. She protested and kept saying the change wad correct.

Finally the boss intervened and I told the boss that I've been his regular customer for years so why should I cheat him for a mere RM5? Despite the staff's insistence, he gave me back my RM5. :-)

      Delete
    2. so...the moral of the story is....Talk to the Boss....no point talk to staffs. LOL

    3. YES YES YES.

      Definitely.

That's what I usually do. Give bad service ke apa ke... Never mind. I won't scream at you in front of others. I just go quietly look for the manager and inquire why the "training" of the staff so bad that they can't work well. If that doesn't work, I go sebok-sebok hantar e-mail tp their HQ.

Worked for Gardens Cafe, TCRS and a few hotels already! Bwahaha!!!!!

  8. She should have confessed once she realised she had made a mistake...and I would just have let it be if it was a genuine mistake.

I thought they use a scanner to scan the bar code, no? So backward kah, KLCC shops? Can amend or adjust also mah...in cash registers. Maybe new broom - totally blur and lost!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sometimes, the scanned price is not the same as the advertised price. Usually promo item. And a lot of times, when I pointed out this and ask the cashier to check again, they will show sour face and walk like they're going dating I.e. Dwaddle to the aisle. :-(

Makes us feel like we are at fault to inconvenience them do much.

      Delete
    2. ya sometimes scan price also not same leh...even if they scan we still have to check the change

      Delete
    3. Then it is the problem with the management, not the cashier! They did not update the info in their system. So far, I see any promo, any special offer...they just scan or press a certain key and the discounted price would appear...or they would have stuck a new barcode on to the item.

      Delete
  9. If it's accidental, then we can accept that. But not if it's intentional. That's real dishonesty. We always practice honesty in my shop. We always return to our customers even though it's just a 5 sen.

    1. Honesty is the best policy, I always go for honest and good service shops.

There's one particular hypermarket in my town here I'm quite alert on its price tag. The one showing on the rack is different from the scanner. And of course the scanner shows higher price! Otherwise I wouldn't be complaining :p

Every time I do my shopping there, I'll double confirm with the scattered-on-the-pillar scanner before I checkout. It makes me feel so insecure~

      Delete
    2. Sometimes the items not placed in the proper place in the racks - you see the names of the product, not the same...so scan, sure the price not the same lor!!!

I don't like those, no tags on the racks...have to go to machine to scan to see the price - you get a lot of that overseas. Such a nuisance!

      Delete
    3. STP,
Big hypermarts and supermarkets in KL all like that already. It takes too much manpower hours to go tag each and every single item mah!

And if customer don't check price correct or not, OK for them what. No need to sell at promo price and managed to tolak the items at retail price. Good what. ;p

  23. I was here yesterday as my first day outing with my girls. I went to Subang Avenue with hotel shuttle. Then from Subang Avenue I took a taxi to Empire. I asked the Taxi Driver how much I needed to pay, he said up to me, Because it was just walking distance, so he didn't know how to charge me. So nice ho? Not all KL taxi drivers are bad la! So I also very cheapo, I gave him RM3 only. Heheheh! Stingy right?

Then, from Empire, I needed to go back to Hotel. I took taxi also, this time the taxi driver charged me RM10. Ok la!

I called the Taxi driver who took me to Empire just now, booking him to take me to Kidzania later. He wanted to charge me RM40, Ok also la! I want to ask me to take me back tonight from Kidzania again.

Spending RM40 on taxi ride from Subang to IPC, it's worth the money, compare to drive there yourself, Yan. The fuel, the parking fee and the hassle. Just relax and enjoy while the driver send you and your kids to the main door of the shopping mall :)

I saved my taxi fare from coming back to hotel last night. Later I can use the money for my shopping spree.
