do you like roti canai, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside?? the following story about roti canai is what i heard and not my own experience, but if you continue reading i may not guarantee you'll still eat them in the future..

there was once a guy patronising a mamak stall somewhere in KL who ordered two pieces of roti canai, when he popped in a piece into his mouth and started chewing, he tasted something weird in the roti and hence he complained to the stall owner.. the owner was frank and admit he's just back from toilet before this, but swear he has already cleaned his hand thoroughly.. the guy ask to see both his hands and really didn't find any dirt, till he looked a little closer and found out the owner was wearing a ring on his left hand.. to his horror, he found some sh*t stucked in the carvings of the ring!! holy goodness!! the guy didn't know if he should just puke or pass out~~ :D

  14. Yeah, people who prepare food, esp with their hands, need to be extra careful about hygiene. So, have you stopped eating roti canai?

    ReplyDelete
  15. OMG! I Heard of this story before even when I was little!! I guess this is such a famous story that it withstands the test of time.. more than 20 years! But you know, I still remember this story very well so much so that every time I see people making roti canai I'd make sure they are not wearing rings :P

  17. I love roti canai...why? what's wrong with them? :p

    ReplyDelete
  18. So...remember that we should only eat roti canai if the doer is not wearing any rings. Haha :D

    ReplyDelete
  19. Or perhaps the roti canai doer should not use his bare hands to make them. Should have used utensils or something. :p

    ReplyDelete
  20. next time must check whether the guy making the roti chanai got wear ring or not before ordering...ha ha ha!

  23. Have you ever seen any hawkers while they are very free would like to cross their legs then touch the feet with the hands touch up touch down touch the sole etc. Then [SK] went over to the stall to order curry mee. D'bozz said 'OK one curry mee coming up'. Next he would use his hands grab the noodles...oblada obladi..*fast forward*. Did he wash his hands first after all the touch touch touch..yakssss Seen this before?

  24. Got a brother-in-law who works in the ship as radio officer. One day he passed by the kitchen saw the cook cutting potatoes and half way through the cook's leg got itchy. *Sit on tight ok..* He uses the knife to scratch the itch then continue to cut the potatoes..so that night's dinner would have extra leg hairs and some dead skin with pork stew potatoes..:(

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bananaz, LOL! I got some gross stories too but enough for this post with yours. I hate it too when people handle food and money at the same time. Oh well... What won't kill you make you stronger, hor?

    ReplyDelete
  26. HAHAHAHA! Heard of these stories a million times over. But still, I love roti canais! :p

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  29. Haha...I heard about this roti canai story.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not sure this story is true or not. But I know that there's no guarantee that the food we eat outside our homes and prepared by others are clean.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have heard of a cook who prepare fish balls dropped one onto the black dirty wet floor, picked it up and put it back into the bowl of noodles for the customer. And of course, the customer enjoyed the taste! Haha

    ReplyDelete
  32. And I have been to a restaurant with nice dining area and tasty food until I stepped into their kitchen! OMG! it's so dirty I almost puked!

    ReplyDelete
  33. So perhaps before you dine in the restaurant, check out the kitchen first? LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. And before you order your roti canai, check out whether the roti canai maker is wearing any rings? Haha!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh btw, I have gone to the toilet of this very popular dining outlet (which I shall not name here) and the cook came into the toilet, did his business and left without washing his hands! Now you know why sometimes the food is so tasty? Hahaha!!

haha, though you may not know what this dish is, but then i'm sure there are many other dishes in your country that are being prepared by hand?? haha.. i am using a freeware with all the editing tools, you can download it from www.photoscape.org..

    @ lina:
hahaha, i think after hearing all these gossips we are still not being refrained from patronising the mamak lah.. anyway, you won't be able to see whether the "chef" is wearing a ring also, you'd just forget about that incident right?? haha..

    ReplyDelete
  44. @ Yvonne:
haha, yeah, i heard about this long time ago and suddenly recall the story.. anyway, i still eat roti canai now no matter what lor.. haha!! :D

    @ wenn:
haha, you don't like but then you still will eat roti canai if there is no choice?? :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. @ Caroline Ng May Ling:
haha, i think now that you're away from family in KL, you have lots of chances to go mamak especially hanging out with Eric and friend right?? haha, you dad is funny, but i think he's trying to protect you from eating sh*t only lah, hahaha!! anyway, that story is really scary but then i guess still we are eating roti canai right?? errr, no lah, i think only that particular stall - i guess~~ :p

    @ Medie007:
hmmm, i actually don't know what happened after that.. just didn't feel like listening anymore on that story, hahaha..

    ReplyDelete
  46. @ Small Kucing:
yeah, actually was more than 10 years ago and i just suddenly recall and want to share the story here..

    @ HappySurfer:
yeah, besides having their hands cleaned i think it's best that they are wearing gloves to prepare the food.. haha, actually no, i didn't stop eating roti canai since then~~ :p

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ iamthewitch:
oh really, is that more than 20 years ago?? i thot it was like 10 years ago i remember.. well, actually i thot that was just a very funny story but that didn't stop me from eating roti canai, because i think, well, there are so many people in the world and i don't think i'll be the lucky one right?? hahahaha~~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ Tekkaus:
haha, actually that story didn't stop me from eating roti canai, i still love it when i go mamak, haha.. well, even if the guy who prepares the roti for you is wearing a ring, that doesn't mean anything also and i guess you won't remember this story also.. and more importantly, you are unlikely to be the "lucky" one lor..

    @ Hayley:
yeah, that is really very gross.. haha!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. @ Pete:
hahaha, beside checking whether he is wearing a ring, should also ask him to take off the ring~~ :p

    @ Merryn:
hahaha, so you dare to eat roti canai now or not?? :D

    ReplyDelete
  50. @ Bananazஇ:
yalah, you are definitely right, not only roti canai but whatever food being prepared with bare hands are really suspicious, but i guess we have been eating countless of those already and still living healthy right?? hahaha, actually if you want to know more stories at the back kitchen, there are even grosser scenes you can even see.. anyway, unless they are open kitchen, or else i think almost all restaurants have the same ugly and dirty kitchen that we do not want to know.. and besides kitchen, when the waiter serves you the food, you may also not know what has happened in between..

    @ HappySurfer:
haha, i seldom have roti canai actually, will most of the time go for chinese style noodles for breakfast.. hehe, yes you are right, i am so looking forward to Bananazஇ posting all those stories behind the scene, should be very interesting right??

    ReplyDelete
  51. @ kyh:
yeah, i think unless we really experienced that before, we will still not stop eating roti canai right?? :)

    @ bluecloud:

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ Mei Teng:
yeah, i guess this was way back in more than 10 years ago right??

    @ foongpc:
yeah, i guess that's quite true since many have heard about that before.. actually all food preparation are not 100% hygienic if you want to say the truth, not even the open kitchen that you can see how the food are being cooked and prepared, because you wouldn't know how clean the utensils are and how clean the chefs are too, haha.. anyway, i guess more importantly is that we don't find anything wrong with ourselves after eating the food.. yeah, don't even go into the kitchen of restaurants, they are the most dirty place you can find in a restaurant i can say..

    ReplyDelete
  53. @ Bengbeng:
errr, i didn't hear what happened next, because already didn't feel like listening to that scary story anymore, haha..

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ Bananazஇ:
oh, that is another gross thing with the thumb dipping into the soup, i will feel very reluctant to put that in my mouth, so i choose not to see how the waiter is serving the food..

    @ edward:

    ReplyDelete
  55. @ Alice Law:
haha, actually i didn't know if they sue the stall because the story is just too gross for me to listen to it furthermore~~ :p

    @ Ashley:
