Hahahaha, so this one is also a lessen that we cannot laugh at others, if now later will be 现眼报...I know I know, that's why I also remind myself cannot laugh at others
ReplyDeleteLike aunt always said don't too harsh on the kids, because we'll getting older then they'll grown up as well!
DeleteBack to the topic, but I think I won't forget la, because female always very concern the age one mah!!
Yah lo, if can't remember which year you born then is a big deal already...eh, that can check from IC, the first two digit of the IC number...
Take it easy ladies, age is just a number only as we all know that but if one is still not comfortable, then just fake your age as 10 years younger!! There is no capital and no harm done.
DeleteI am never shy about my age and I am proud that I am just 30 this year! Muahahahaha *evil eyes*
Yeah lah our new ic card is just a beans spiller! They show and tell the public my age and even address!! That is dangerous. I am planning to make my own identity card with my photo and no ic registration number for the guards to copy. I will put my fictious address and driving license number will do plus occupation. That should be enough for the guards to allow me into corporate offices and visit tenants at their condo.
DeleteWhat should I call this identification card? Maybe I should title it as Occupation Card.
Identity card should not anyhow let people see. It's to dangerous. For condo and guard house usage, give them your driving license.
DeleteHahaha, TM I'm wondering the guards allow you to do that meh? I don't know about other places but those I know one, they always request for IC even you give driving license they also refuse to take it wor, if you don't give then wait together lo (because my housing area one is like this, which sometimes make the queue super long)
DeleteIf self-made one identification card is consider fake or not fake ya?? if everything on it is not the correct information then is fake right?? I also don't know, but I think those guards always take the IC number as a reference so is still need your IC la...hahaha~~
ChrisAu, certain condo and guard house they won't take driving license one, if you don't give then all wait together there la, see who has the more patient de!
Hahaha..... padan muka me too coz last time when people say they have to count their age I also like SK said "what la. Own age also dunno meh? " Now myself also kena like that. Can i blame it on giving birth and given half my brain to my son? The benefit of being a woman is that we can claim memory loss due to giving birth.
DeleteI agree with TM that our Identity card reveals too much about ourselves. I like the old format better./ Just number without putting the date of birth in front.
As for address....err....can always put all address ma. But the downside if we accident die on the road or what the new occupant of the old address will have a shock having police visit them lo.
Actually think we no need to bring out or original IC. Just print/photocopy and laminate it. If security guard need to check then just check la. And police they can always check based on the photocopy. Police cannot arrest us if tarak bring original IC. We can inform them if they want to see the original IC , we will bring it to the nearest police station. It's our rights.
Serious ya?? I thought we always need to bring the original one with us?? But can meh? If those don't have IC one, they can fake one by showing the photocopy one lo?? @.@
DeleteEh, it’s not impossible not to remember stuffs.. Especially ahh, at our age ahh (I’m similar age as you la), we have so many things to do in a day, suddenly people ask us how old, duh, nonsense stuffs ahh, I cannot remember immediately la.. So yeah, I agree with your topic today..
ReplyDeletePeople say ahh, women especially after childbirth, will slack in memory.. I never believed at first, but now I do.. I tend to forget things very easily but not yet become tai tau har la.. Still ok my level.. But if you suddenly come and ask me how old am I, I think I can answer la, after 2-3 seconds, but if wana kira after birthday only add that year, then I need another 4-5 seconds.. If kira year only, I only need 2-3 seconds kua..
DeleteThey say if during childbirth, you take epidural, then you will slack in memory more.. But to me, epidural or not, childbirth or not, aiya, as age creeps up, sure will forget things easily one lor.. Don’t say you la, me lagi lor.. Everyday do so may things – wakeup, prepare the kids, do house chores, then have to remember the kid’s nursery/tadika holidays date, date to go on the farm/bird park, dates for parent-teachers meeting, date for class party, wah, hou sanfu geh..
DeleteImportant things like somebody coming or important appointments, I use widget and “stick” it on my handphone la, the front there ahh.. Like “stick-it” notes like that lor.. If not so important, then I just jot down in my calendar lor.. But if I do that, everyone can see.. People pass by, boss in out up down can see also..
DeleteEven grocery shopping, I will write in the widget and “stick it” on my handphone there la.. So that when we reach the supermarket, terus we can go grab the stuffs lioa.. I do write things like detergent, Milo, tissue rolls, yoghurt, milk, cheese, broccoli, stuffs like that.. Then after I grab it at the supermarket, I just checked it off lor.. I really need the checklist also geh..
DeleteOk, back to your ching tai, birthday.. Like I said, if kira the year only, I can answer you in 2-3- seconds.. But if want to say how many yrs and months, means kira mai the birthday month, means the year belum sampai lagi, err, I need like 5-6 seconds kua..
DeleteAiya, everyday so bz, have to think of house chores and do kid's stuff, you want to ask me how old am I meh.. Ok la, if people ask me, I will say "You guess".. Then it gives me a few seconds to think/calculate my age.. Smart mou?
DeleteOh no, poor you. Now I remember that i read somewhere about mothers losing their memory abilities after giving birth. That is due to the loss of blood process and the brain's memory bank gets deprived. I wonder how the Chinese confinement lady could help to cook nutritious meals to help the mothers! Maybe Yomeishu could work as it contains over 80 types of natural herbal supplements inside.
DeleteI am not a mother or having memory loss yet but I need to rely on all these brightly coloured "Post Stick" to help me remember so many important matters each day. It could cost me trouble if I forgot them.
Princess - I think no la. I guess it's due to the stress of child care which affects your memory. Imagine not enough sleep and emotional , how to remember stuffs ?
DeletePrincess Ribbon, yes la, after give birth memory become poorer!! I got just one child but memory already so poor, later give birth to second, third one and so on lagi la teruk?!
DeleteThey say eat pig's brain can helps? But I dare not la! A bit gerli.....
Can see from here that mommy is very "wei dai" (伟大) sob, sob, sob!!
DeleteI think doesn't matter how age are you, write down what you need and what's important is a very good habit as we can't referred to our brains all the time, isn't that write down is much secure ya?? But, but, but about age thing, that also need to write down, I straight away think about alzheimer's disease, which before they started getting serious when they still have conscious, they'll write down everything everywhere, table, chair, tv.....(reminds me the movie ATM, so sad~~~)
Hayley got some thing one ya?? I heard they said eat fish wor...pig's brain ya?? Umm, some people always said pig is the laziest and stupidest animal, but some said they're very smart so they just lying there whole day eat and sleep, don't to do anything, so...which is correct ya??
I agree with you Princess Ribbons. Coz we woman after giving birth, half our brain brain given to the baby liao. Am sure you have heard of it right? Some more there are so many things to think off, how to remember everything leh.
DeleteNot due to blood loss la TM. Even before giving birth a woman will start having memory loss incidents liao. Like me when I was pregnant. Tengah cooking then go to the fridge wanna take something, then kaldip call me to ask something. I go to the fridge then forget what i wanted to do liao
Another friend lagi best. She tengah makan lunch. Her colleague asked her to help on something. Then she terus go back to work. Afternoon then think why so hungry ah? Then suddenly recall unfinished lunch in the pantry. She is now 7 months pregnant.
Yes heard that drink Pig Brain soup will help with memory. But I never cook that before. Dunno how to handle it. Maybe I should cook some and see. But later if after drinking become worse how ah? After all there is a cantonese scolding call "why you stuxxx pig?" Like that cham liao LOL
Wahahaha, I guess that one is she's too busy is it? Until she forgot to she was having breakfast??!!
DeleteYah right? I've the same thought too, people use that animal to others stupid, so I also assumed it's very stupid, but who knows!
OMG! That happens to me too! Seriously, I cannot remember exactly how old I am. I know I am forty something. And like you, I have to pause and the subtract my year of birth from current year.
ReplyDeleteI don't have problem to remember my age and my wife's age but I have difficulties to remember my parents and sibling's ages for unknown reasons. I remember their full birthday details and had to do similar calculations too!
DeleteI always thought all bakers and good chefs like you often have very good memories. My late mother and the Chef Diva Agnes Chang have very sharp & good memories too. That's why they excel in the culinary skills.
Oh dear, I don't even remember my parents' and siblings age or birth year! Shame on me! I think I have selective memory. Some things I remember so well and others I easily forget. In fact even for the dementia patients, some old memories remain.
DeletePhong - errr,,,,,, me too, I cannot remember my parents' DOB as well as siblings. I guess thats not due to memory but we are not informed or maybe 'no heart' ...hahaha... Me too, as a guy, I am reckless and always depends on my wife to remember all these dates for me.
DeleteFor others age, I always remember their zodiac then use my age to count backward, or remember the gap age between me and my siblings, actually is very easy, just plus only, one 15, 12, 10, 7, hehe!! But of coz first of all, I need know what's my age first ya...Remember the zodiac is easier mah, but my nephews and nieces one I don't know la, too confusing...
DeleteHahaha.....at leat am better. I remember my mom's date of birth but not my dad. My mom's date of birth is just one day away from my mother's date of birth.
Deleteommm.....thank goodness i can still remember my own date of birth. Otherwise really paiseh have to dig hole and hide liao.
I heard from someone that the food that we eat and our enviroment really contribute to our memory loss. Now more and more people with alzhemier and dementia. I wonder is it true? Or maybe in old days memang already have these disease but only not dianosed?
Maybe in a decade or two i might even alzhemier or dementia as my memory very bad lately. if you ask me things that happen recently., i cannot recall. what i ate yesterday i also have to stop and think. but if you ask me the things that happen during my school time...i can still tell you my primary school canteen sells boiled kacang kuda for 20 sens a packet. patches of memory...one of the sign of dementia?
I am actually quite relieved to know that I am not the only one like this hah..hah... And you are right, at least can still remember year of birth and what is the present year.
ReplyDeleteIf one day, totally cannot remember the age, cannot remember year of birth and cannot remember what year it is let alone what day it is today then very "chiak lat" liao!
DeleteThat's an illness already called dementia if I am not wrong.
DeleteMy father is a victim and dementia patient. His level of dementia is very serious and the whole family has to be patient to accommodate to his swinging patterns.I do feel sad often to see my father's confidence and well being being reduced to this stage. He is aware of his nagging problem and often shares his frustration with his children. We just had to assure him not to be bothered as we are here to help him remember everything.
DeleteThis dementia is so scary and frustrating to the family members more than the patient itself for having to deal with it on a daily basis. I watched the KBS documentary where the Korean doctors highlighted this sickness in detail and it seems that they have not found a cure till today. However they pointed out that it could be prevented!
It truly is. My grandma who is in her nineties is suffering from dementia. I cried when I saw her last year because she appeared so lost and could not recognise me. We have to keep up with an active and healthy lifestyle to do our best to prevent getting dementia.
DeleteOh dear, now I wanna cry too. My father was a public figure during his hey days in my hometown. Now he is nobody and a forgotten person as life goes on. Some days he could not remember my wife and siblings too. Fortunately, he never had problem to recognize me when he is actually living in my brother's house!
DeleteMy father was very active and exercised a lot. I could only blame the dementia was caused by his frequent blood donations and lack of supplements. I plan to blog this topic after doing some research.
TM ...so sad to hear to hear that. Yes, blog it and enlightens us.
DeleteIt is sad to see your love ones suffer from dementia
DeleteDementia is still bearable if there are family members like TM taking care of him
DeleteBetween the two , i think Alzheimer disease is worse off. Read some where that for Alzheimer disease, in the critical stage, the patient body will also "forget" to breath on its own. that is really sad.
I think whether we like it or not, our memory tends to slacken as we age. I always thought it won't happen to me but sadly it is happening. It can be alarming sometimes the things that I forget.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I forget what day it is hah..hah... and then go look at the newspaper. Scary.
DeleteAiyor! i thought I was alone in forgetting the days! i have been caught in this embarrassing situation a few times lately. Case 1 : I took my father to hospital on the wrong day to get his blood tests done. I caused a ruckus and trouble for the nurses to re schedule my father's blood test.
DeleteCase 2: I greeted Small Kucing a Happy Friday when it was a Thursday!! I was sad when she corrected me as I thought I was going to enjoy a Friday night movie that day.
I blamed my lifestyle and sudden changes that made me loose grip of my daily lives! That is quite bad as I need to relax a bit.
It is comforting to know that I am not the only one! One time, I threw away my cocoa powder container because it was empty. The following week, I was searching for my cocoa powder high and low. It took me more than an hour to realise that I had thrown away the empty container and found it in my plastic recycling box! That was the first time that I felt alarmed at my forgetfulness.
DeleteOur brain is like a muscle. Just like muscles, as we aged, it will deteriorate and that affects our memory. Nowadays, I always note down the tasks I needed to do else I will forget. I trying out supplements like gingko biloba to aid my memory.
DeleteSince I stopped working, i tend to forget the day and dates too LOL.
Deletehink we will have to keep active or else our brain will grow rusty liao. lucky i still can blog. if no more blogging maybe my brain frozen liao. All with fungus .LOL
I heard if wanna exercise the brain, must play more mahjonmg
aiyak...looks like i have to start learn how to play mahjong liao
I remember my age, but i tend not to think about my age, kakaka...
ReplyDeleteOh you do remember your age!!! That's good.
DeleteBTW, how old are you now?
My ic starts with the year that i was born, haiz...
DeleteIf you ic starts with the year you are born, it means you belong to the younger generation
Deleteam curious too....hmmm....wondering what's your age. Can still remember your age ka off hand or like me have to count :p
DeleteI never remember my age even as a high school student hahaha! I guess this comes with people who doesn't really care about birthdays!
ReplyDeleteHey, you are pulling our legs! I could see that you have an elephant's memory from the meticulous details written in your blog postings! I cannot remember and write so well like you.
DeleteI hope you will always remember to blog your lazy man's style and share your grumpy rantings! You certainly made the blogsphere more fun and lively.
hahaha...this is a one mischievous gunner!
DeleteSometimes I cheat, like referring back to my old blog, or Facebook posts. Sometimes it is stuff that pisses me off so I remember them much better. My birthday does not fall on these categories hahaha XD
DeleteI think we forget how old we are because as we get older (from early twenties) to where we are now (those old goats like me lah), there are so many things happening in our lives - career, finances, family etc and age becomes something so insignificant that it is pushed into the far reaches of our brain, It's different when we were kids. I mean as a kid, age is a big deal right? Relatives like to ask you "How old are you?" And I remember it is a proud feeling to tell them "I am ten years old!". Birthdays were something to look forwards to because of parties and presents. Becoming older was associated with becoming independent and having the ability to do and enjoy more things. But not anymore lah hah..hah...
ReplyDeleteSK forever 19? I think I am still 15 years old. When I was a kid I used to wonder what is it like to be 20, 30, 40 or 50?
ReplyDeleteI soon realised that you don't actually feel any different. That brain is still the same in your head and you are essentially the same person no matter how old. You just mature and your thinking becomes different as you go through the passage of time. And that small kid in you is still lurking inside :)
DeleteHeard that some power food like eggs (protein) helps our memory. Do a research on it.
DeleteAs it is right now and for many years already I don't care how old I am. Life just goes on and I am only reminded of my age when I need to fill out forms. Or when the doctor ask during medical check up.
ReplyDeleteOr when some kaypoh people ask point blank. I don't mind telling them my age. Nothing to be shy about. I mean you can't be twenty forever. But seriously lah, I am waiting for that day when I can queue up at the special senior citizen counter at the bank or enjoy 50% discount for buffet at certain restaurants.
DeleteMuahahahaha!!! You tickled my ribs! This reminds me about The Star's June Wong who went to visit the Muzium Negara with her kids recently and was stunned for so long when the ticket seller charged her cheaper as she was qualified for the Warga Emas tickets. She had mixed feelings as that was the first time she ever realised she could enjoy Warga Emas discounted rates! Her children teased her instead!
DeleteI think all the senior citizen's discounts are confined to certain benefits and outlets only. They do not give this offer for hotel and flight bookings! Will that happen?
Whatever the age and benefits may be, my only wish is to have healthy brains with good memory and strong limbs until my last days! I often believe that our fate is in our own hands!
There should be more benefits extended to warga emas! Like you, I aim to stay fit and healthy, physically and mentally.
DeletePhong - errr..how old are you ah?
DeleteChris, I am not shy to reveal my age. I am.... (take calculator to count)...48 years old liao :D
DeleteI always have to count every time I filled up the part of age in any forms I fill. LOL
ReplyDeleteSo different compared to when I was, say, 24. :P
LOL. I think you must be very bad in your Mathematics at school. next time carry your age number as the background screen on your phone!
DeleteNow this memory and aging topic is giving me sudden goose bumps as I realised we are all closer to our graves on each passing day!
TM, you are so right! As I grow older, I am reminded of my mortality. When I read obituaries and see someone born in my year, I become poignant. When I was younger, these things never crossed my mind but now I am reminded that I will not be in this world forever. We should just live each day well and not be too worried about our expiry date.
DeleteI never believed that my mother would really pass away too. The whole thing looked like a dream and illusion to me now. I am glad that we all had a good time as mother & son where much memories live on. I have to remind my older siblings never to grieve at all and stay strong to move on.
DeleteI still look at Obituary Ads! They could tell some stories to our heads about the life they have lived and how we should live.
Lina will need to count age when fill in form but when comes to how many steps have run a day, sure of hand she can tell you LOL. But seriously, memory getting bad as we age
DeleteNo need to get goose bumps la TM. Sooner or later we will die. As long as you have completed everything you want in life or at least have got ready for it then wont have to worry about that much. The old days people very good. They even buy coffin and store in the house before they die. But not viable la nowadays. But can still buy plot of land or "condominium" in the temple to get ready la.
hmmm...I don't have this problem. I'm 28 every year. No need to subtract.
ReplyDeleteSame here with me and I also don't have this problem. My age is a beautiful number 33 and it means full of life!
DeleteNow, are you sure you are still 28???!!! I zoomed into your profile photos and think you are 25 only! Muahahaha
TM- damnit.... I must buy you a nice cuppa of kopi! When you coming to SG?
DeleteWhat both of you so damn young ah based on "profile photos"...hahaha.....photos can be deceiving leh .... *** runs and hides before kena made into satay kucing ***
DeleteTake Gingko biloba...helps to improve your memory ...hahaha....
ReplyDeleteI agree that Gingko Biloba is very helpful to boost our memory. This brain food often gave me headaches instead if i gulped a pill 3 times a day. I could only take one pill per day.
DeleteWhat else is there to eat as healthy brain food that could boost our memory bank?
Extra virgin coconut oil has been touted to help maintain the health of our brain. Try it as it has other health benefits too.
DeleteOh yeah I forgot that I drink olive oil every night before sleep as it helps the air passage of our nostrils to prevent mucous clogging plus prevents skin wrinkles. My supply of extra virgin coconut oil has finished long ago. I agree that it is supposed to be a brain food. Thanks for reminding me! Again, my bad memory! LOL
DeleteI noticed the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is very expensive in Malaysia right now as there are only few brands available. They are dirt cheap in overseas!
Take 1 enough lor... IM taking Nutrilite (Amway) M+. 2 pills a day.
Delete19 + 19 = 38 ... hmm...you still younger than me. :(
ReplyDeleteOops! Are you sure Chris? Then I must be younger than you too. I thought you are 28! You are confusing all of us now.
DeleteAge is just a number dei. I think you are 28 in your birth certificate but looks 45 and feels 35 but talks like 20. So interesting and enjoy life to fullest with the balanced healthy lifestyle you have now.
Anyway, I don't think remembering our age is that important except for official matters like filling in forms. Most importantly is how you keep yourself fit and live life to the full. No point being 19 years old but live like an old men. I saw many teens like that. They are not that adventurous and scared of this and that. Well, I don't mean asking them to do dangerous stuffs but at least, do something rather stayed at home playing games. Jut try something new always and get themselves motivated like us old guys!
ReplyDeleteThey can think of how to make more money , help out in community work , church work, train for a marathon, go for some sports coaching, join some hiking activities, public speaking and etc.
DeleteBtw, no offense to young people la... just my thoughts.
You are spot on! There is one famous Touch N Go blogger whose personality fits your descriptions about his character, thoughts and speech. He has some personality disorder which is beyond help! I hope he wakes up to reality and his real age someday.
DeleteYou should quit your job and be a mentor for these troubled & lost teens! You should teach and guide them to live a meaningful life. Teach them to use their brain skills to benefit the mankind and not play games all day.
I don't think can blame the teenagers for scared of this and that. They got it from their elders who caution them on everything.
DeleteNow is not as safe as in the old days. At least the old days robbers rob you point blank without hurting you but look at recent spat of ATM robberies. Give them money already they still wanna slash you so that you cannot fight back or hinder their flights.
Not all teens stay home and play games la. Many still do community works and all that. Simple example la. Just look at those church group from bible classes. There are many youngster there and they come to church and also go for church camp and all. Like those in J's kindy . They come weekly to offer help for Funland programme.
As for gaming. Some games are good for the brain. Many assume saw kids or teens with iPad they straight assume they are playing war games or stuffs like that. Some used iPad to read ebooks. Some play brain games like sudoku , maths games and stuffs like that.
Again, age is all in the mind. I saw a lot of elderly folks running marathons or exercising vigorously in the gym. as well as volunteering their services in my church. That really fueled them and they live life to the fullest.
ReplyDeleteThere is this grand dame of sports in KL who is the oldest participant in cross country cycling and even the annual triathlon events!! She is 70+ years old and always shocked all the people around her with her stamina and memory skills. 2 years ago she went skiing up the mountains in Aspen, Colorado during the mid Winter! Her heart is fearless like a Lioness!
DeleteI often looked at her for old age inspirations!! She is not married and has lots of $$$.
Oh, now only I realise that the poster you use showing the Anay calling the Minachi is an actual movie called How Old Are You? I wonder who asking who? It's been a long time since I watched Indian movies.
ReplyDeleteI used to expose my age in fb but then I remove it after that as I thought no point la. Age is all in the mind. ahaha
ReplyDeleteAge is just a number betul tak? We don't have to confine ourselves within our biological age. We are as young as we feel and we should stay active and keep ourselves healthy in mind and body.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statement that age is just a number and that how we feels is what matters inside. I married a very young wife who keeps me younger each year. As a result she dragged me up to climb 4 high mountains and cycled many hills! My gang of school mates gasped at me in disbelief.
DeleteSo my wife matured very fast to face the realities of human beings out there by marrying an older man! It is a Win-Win situation.
Oh, lovely! I chose an older man too but I feel like we are contemporaries. We keep each other young :)
DeleteI remember months ago, I went for a boy-fat analysis which also tells your 'mental' age They said Im only 30...wow... happy die me... hahahaa...
ReplyDeleteI guess it's due to exercises which helps to fine-tuned my body during then. (then ah... dunno about now..muahahahahahha)
Good for you Chris! I wonder how old am I if I do that test hee..hee,,, Hope the machine don't say 60!
DeleteWah!!! Chris was only 30 years old months ago and happy die himself! Wakakakakaka
DeleteI just wonder whether the screwed machine has some error or need new batteries! LMAO! Just kidding, don't angry me. Tolong ampun!
Chris, you should try going for the analysis check up againa nd you might be 25 years old now!! My accountant told me the tests also showed his low body fat level which he blamed on his loss of hair. Is that true? He told me the hair follicles need to feed on body fats like fertilizer and he was pointing at my belly & crown. Kaneeneh!
errr....maybe :)
DeleteLOL, you must be so happy la ChrisAu.
DeleteI remember there's some similar apps in FB which test your personality then gives you results, like how old are you mentally. I find those quite funny and irrational, just a game only, where can determine how old we are? Haha! But yala, just for fun only, cannot take it seriously!
hahaha... of course, don't take it seriously. I used to be a very stressful guy but now, I burn all the stress in the gym and runs. No point keeping all these bad emotions and before you know it... the solutions are in front of you. Just do something for your problems and you may find the solutions.
DeleteAnyway, I saw a lot of my peers who just work and work and never exercises, besides eat lots of good cholesterol laden food, smoke, drink and late nights. They looked so much older than their physical age with a big belly than can be used as a pillow and look haggard! And, n top of that, they av high blood pressure and high cholesterol ... sigh ...
ReplyDeleteopps... type too fast ... lots of typo... :P
Deleteit's also the same with young adults in their late 20s or 30s. They look like in their mid-40s... thanks to their lifestyle. Thus, physical age is really nothing, most importantly is their 'mental and body' age...
DeleteYou spoke and described about this person who resembles my own brother. He smokes like chimney, drinks like whales and a womanizer like Don Juan. SK has seen his face and wrinkles but my dearie brother goes for Sothy's facial and oxygen therapy every month just to stay young!! Goodness I am not a fanatic like him.
DeleteI am sure Chris looks way much younger than all his friends for the healthy lifestyle of exercise and ramen!! LOL
TM ....hahaha.... you see me then you know lor... losing hair liao
DeleteOh..btw... I got a friend who's in his early 50s but looks like mid-30s. His secret? Slep early daily where he slept at 11pm and wakes up at 7am. He also exercises a lot and he has a positive mental attitude. There's seems no challenges that can overcome him. He just laugh over it ... I'm learning from him.
ReplyDeleteI must follow your friend's example! It's quite hard to stay positive when there is a lot of stress around us.
DeleteReally got such people? Wow, good good, we must try to learn like that, so that can live longer, hehe!
DeleteHayley - Yes, but of course not every single day la. He slept late during weekends and occasionally have a beer. He's still a human after all.
DeletePerhaps those who forgot...or pretended to forget just do not want people to know their real age? Ha :D
ReplyDeleteAs for me...having children make me more aware of my time and of course my age. So I am very particular about my age. :D
ReplyDeleteMy friends with many kids often complained that their kids made them age and die faster! Wakakaka
DeleteTekkaus, you always looked like a young athletic sportsman unless you are still using a teenage profile photo. LOL

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Bloggers! What a sensitive topic today and I bet some ladies would shy away.
ReplyDeleteI think in our Asian society, the mention of ages amongst the high society ladies are real taboos! I don't see such paranoia happening in the West as they tend to live in their presence better and nothing to be shy!!
Even my male ex colleague who has since become a proud lady after some sex change operations would kill us if we ever utter "her" real age!!! "She" wants to be introduced as a young sweet lady in her early 20s when the actual age is almost kissing 45!!! Aduhai Mama!
Oh well, nobody wants to grow old with wrinkles and eye bags! There is no escaping for us no matter how much botox we use. I am not afraid to reveal everything as I am quite transparent in my blogs. I don't hide myself and put a taugeh plant as my profile icon! Muahahahaha
How old are you Thambee? Anay really forgot about your age! I always looked at you like a small innocent thambee with the most cheeky mouth in this planet. Nobody can bet the way your brains work! I salute your thoughts and mouths!
DeleteMy old father has serious dementia problems and always uttered his wrong age. Everyday he would ask us to confirm his age! When I told him the truth, he would shriek out and protest that I was bluffing.
Nowadays, wrinkles can be easily hidden. Not easy to predict a women age now. muahahaha...
DeleteToo much botox and plastic surgery can make a person look weird. Face may be smooth but the face looks like a mask. So just age gracefully. Too much make up also not so good because once the make up comes off, can pengsan!
DeletePhong Hong, I agree with you, we should learn from France women, we have to age gracefully. No point hiding our wrinkles with make up, confidence, smile and wear appropriate attire will be enough to make a woman looks so pleasant. I am now looking at women very differently, I am not looking at their make up or hair style, I look at how they walk, how they talk, how they act naturally and etc. As long as they look relax and comfortable, I find them so beautiful.
Deletewhy mention the age is a taboo for asian woman leh? Hmmm...maybe true for high societies women lah.
DeleteAge is not really a matter as long as your heart is young. As long as the brain not 'old' and is open minded then any age is a great age.
Age is just a number. Today I just went for bone health check, I am the best result among my colleagues, most of them are younger than me but with lower result than me. I am so proud of myself for having fit body at this age of me. Conclusion, exercise does help a lot. I only exercise more than my colleagues, my bone health tells the truth.
ReplyDeleteIn fact I love my older "me" than my younger "me". I find myself is happier, healthier, fitter and better looking than before. May be I have more wrinkles than before, but it doesn't matter.
DeleteOh! I better back to the topic. I do forget my age too some times, like SK described here, I need to use my year of birth and current year to do some calculation in order to get my actual age. Heheheh! Sign of old age that I can't deny.
Congratulations Yannie. You have done so well and hubby should buy you a treadmill to run at home all day!
DeleteI always believe in the sayings of 'we are what we eat' and 'we reap what we sow'.
Glad to hear that Yannie! Worth la all your sweats and effort spent in the gym ;)
DeleteBy the way how's Ah Hua? Long time no news of her liao...
Well done, Yannie. Try to run more, rest enough and you will be sharp in mind and feel lighter too!
DeleteI wonder how many of you still celebrate your birthday. Maybe by celebrating then only can remember the age. My last birthday party was when I was in primary school hah..hah...
ReplyDeleteI make it a point to celebrate everyone birthday in my family. I think it is important to celebrate the family members birthday. I will buy cake for my daughters and husband. I will also remember to buy small gift for friends on their birthday. I believe this will make the birthday boys/girls happy on their birthday. Just like we wish people "Happy Birthday". Birthday must be happy right?
DeleteI still celebrate my birthday even though it's small scale with my family, as well as my family's and friend's birthdays.
DeleteI shall follow Yannie and Chris example. This year onwards must celebrate!
DeletePH, I don't celebrate my birthday since few years ago, haha! I mean like a grand celebration la! Not that no one remembers but just feel that nothing special to really celebrate also la! Every year also got one ma! But I don't mind getting presents and wishes la, wakakaka!
DeleteLike Yannie, I am also happier at my age now. Fatter but happier. I do not wish to turn back the clock.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger, I lived to please others. I mind how others perceived me as a person. Now, I just need to make myself happy, I don't mind how others look at me as a person. I do not allow myself to feel upset because of someone or something. I have better EQ, wiser thoughts and broader mind. I can easily forgive others for what they have done or said. I care for nothing except my own thinking. Therefore I love myself even more now, I find myself is happier person .
DeleteNo wonder people said "a year older is a year wiser". This is so true.
I never keep my age as a secret. I don't mind telling people how old I am too. Even now, when people ask me "how old are you?" I will tell honestly. Hehehe! But now I learn from SK, I am only 21. Two times of 21. Hahahaha!
Yes, as we grow...we will be more mellow and calm down. Just like driving, when we are young, we sped and drove recklessly but we don't do that when we are older.
DeleteWe have been following Yannie's blog for so long and she has grown into a very smart and talented lady who rules everything with iron fist. Her work, family and exercises are all so well balanced. Her 2 precious Princesses are the best wonderful example of the mama's love and grooming! She should write a book titled "Taiping's Parenting & Baking Skills".
DeleteMany parents out there have their own achievements and family upbringing skills but just a few would be so transparent and frank to share with the world. By sharing and awakening others would bring merits to the writers!
Yannie, I guess when someone works under a boss like yours, his/her EQ will automatically become better, you know what I mean? Heheheh!
DeleteThis I noticed after working for few months under 'him', must have better EQ one, else 自己拿来气罢了。。 I mean not worth la getting upset over someone like him, or over something. Life is short ma!!
Hayley, you are right, I am now well-trained under him to have better EQ, and I should thank him for providing such a good training.
DeleteGetting angry will make us look aging faster. Hehehe! I am not that stupid, why using others mistake and stupidity to punish ourselves, right?
Hehe true, must think like that, not worth making ourselves look stupid or becoming old with those people, by the way he still like that ar?
DeleteOh ya, must thank him, I realize my EQ still stay high now, 拿来对付那些‘坏人’很好用!=))
Getting angry or 'feeling emo' will makes us looks frown with our blood pressure rising. Sure this will makes us looks old if we are unable to control our emotions.
DeleteI think we needed to constantly challenged our mind to get ourselves active and busy all the time. Sometimes, I noticed most retirees died few years later after they retired from work. Doing nothing but just staring at the four walls definitely is not healthy for the mind, as it will make them physically younger by keeping themselves active even like playing a game of chess of doing charity work,
ReplyDeleteYes, getting involved in voluntary work or even seeking part time employment would help to keep one's mind and body active.
DeleteTrue, must 'use' and train our brain all the time regardless of age. They say playing mahjong helps a lot, I wonder how true is it? Anyway me no interest in mahjong at all la, poker cards still ok ;)
DeleteFirst, I saw the banner thingy, too bad my laptop Adobe got problem, cannot play so I don't know what's that :(
ReplyDeleteDin't bother to fix it, cause fixed once already now same issue again, geram la!
Okok back to the topic.
Erm so far I don't have this problem, I always know/remember how 'young' I am one, hehe! But the way I mention is follow my birthday month one la, not the year. Like I was born in October, so if you ask me how old I am now, I will say 30 plus, instead of 31 xD
Of course many times I won't mention the 'plus' la, just say 30 only. Then after birthday I will change to 31 automatically, wahahaha!
Not to say I am calculative or what la, just saja saja for fun only la, moreover, no people really care also ma! Right?
But, when people ask how old is my family members (especially my parents), I will need to think, I mean I remember their years of birth but don't know why cannot remember how old exactly are them. So sometimes like when we need to fill up details, I will take seconds to calculate how old are they actually, hehe!
So, second 19th birthday ya? Hehe, easy Maths la :p
Your age almost macam my second brother wo!
Anyway, age is just a number la, for me, I don't mind to reveal how 'young' I am, I guess you too la right? Usually guys won't bother one, but I know some woman yes, very sensitive topic, and also their weight, hehehe! ;p
But I got exception also la, sometimes if a total stranger ask me how old I am, I will not directly tell him/her, it depends la. If for important matters (like fill in forms or etc) then of course I'll tell la, if saja saja 八卦 then I will try to avoid, I mean why bother to know my age where I don't know you at all? It happens to me before leh, so ngam that day I wasn't in a good mood, I felt very 不爽 lo. I went for a hair wash at a salon, then I know the shampoo girl was trying to chat a bit la so that not so boring but please la, find something else to ask la! She directly ask me how old am I =_= I was like, why you wanna know? She just smiled. Then I showed her my black face, continue to read the magazine, and she kept quiet all the session, haha xD
aiya....you look young la...
DeleteAs always, age is just a number but it's important too as it shows the maturity in us. I remember my kids' and hubby's birthdays very well. I used to celebrate for them but now as they grow older, they wouldn't like to celebrate birthdays anymore as it shows how old they are.
ReplyDeleteNowadays, we hardly put the exact candles anymore. Rather just a candle so no one knows how old we are. A good idea as we wouldn't want to tell the whole world our age as we grow older.
Yes... maturity is another interesting word. There are folks who are really old but still act like a immature teen including the way they talked. Then, there are young people whose thinking are like they have been through many experiences like that.
DeleteAnyway, maturity is a state of mind and definitely more important than physical age.
Same as Hayley, before my birthday I would say I am 42, only after the birthday then I say I am 43, I count by my birthday not by the year
ReplyDeleteOnce my friend wrote me a sentence, it says "It does not matter how you age, but that you should age graciously."
DeleteFor Singapore IC, older people IC number is not the number of the year they are born but for younger generation, the front two digits is the year in which they are born for example, if you are born in 1973, in front two digits would be 73, so it will reveal our age
DeleteI believe people do change over the years and age will change a person
DeleteI love my 20s the most
DeleteHigh 5 Libby! =)
DeleteBy the way you say 42, just an example only right? Not your age right?
Yes yes ...why matter how we aged... most importantly is to age gracefully! Enjoy life daily!
DeleteYes, I agree that for people who are not that concerned with their age, they would not remember what age they are until they calculate it by deducting their birth year from the current year and you happen to be one of them. I get it, you are 19 x 2 this year, right?
ReplyDeleteSome are very hush hush about their age especially ladies... and each time I ask anyone about their age, the next question they posted back will be... "Guess... guess how old I am.. " and normally what would one do? To flatter or not to flatter?? hahahaa.. I normally end up pleasing them... why not make them happy when we have a choice, right? hahaha...
ReplyDeleteSo how old are you? I never met you personally before... so I really don't know how you look in real... hehehe... from pictures, can edit one... just like you said I am young but not actually already cos pictures can be deceiving! So I rather see you in real and then guess your age... and be ready to receive a 5 years less! hahahaha....
Claire, your case, memang hard to do.. Really, should we be honest if people ask us like that? If say too old, scare offend people; if say too young, people say we are fake, LOL! Memang dilemma.. So the best is pray that we don't meet people like this, haha xD
DeleteSimple la... for ladies ...regardless they look old or not, just said 18 for the youthful looking, 25 for the auntie lookalike and 30 for the middle-aged ones with teenage kids. Won't go wrong ... muahahahaha..
Deletesometimes I myself cannot remember how old am I and I cannot remember how long I've been working (in year terms of course)
ReplyDeleteceh! 19 birthday? srsly ah? then I 10 years old only LOL
DeleteThat's very interesting!! I really cannot remember how long I have been working though I know how old I am...haha...
DeleteIt's really difficult to calculate my working years!!
Good morning SK and all..eh why the latest post no comment column ah? Mau wait for second post baru open for all to comment is it? Hahaha genius la you.
ReplyDeleteHahaha...pasal age ah...I stopped counting when I reached 30. My big 40 birthday had gone already without any big hu ha. yea yeah am getting old and i admit it. But if you ask me my age ah. cham liao coz i really dunno leh. Have to think and count...is ut 41? 42? 43? ......or more...
I think i stopped counting when I gave birth. After giving birth I started counting my son age instead.
ReplyDeleteStray off the topic a bit ah. Funny how when baby time people will count the baby age by day then follow by weeks ie he is tw weeks old....when he 36 weeks old have to bring him see doctor for check up...then follow by counting by month and years. And when they come to our age....ask a mom with many kids how old is the second son, I think the mom will have to stop and use fingers to count liao.
tak aci ni...early morning wanna test my brain and see how old you are now ah...ah...no need la....let just say you are forever 18 old. No matter what your age is now...i see you always smiling and happy go lucky. if you carry a knapsack behind of you, i think people can still mistaken you for a college boy leh. Not uncle at all like what you have always think yourself as.
ReplyDelete其實心境最重要,幾多嵗又如何?!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I'll tell you mine ~~~ I'm younger than you 1 year :)
ReplyDelete
