Myopia, Hypermetropia & Presbyopia (2 of 2) |
this post today is the second part of a two-parts series, if you have not read the first part, i would recommend that you read it here before you continue with this.. :) ...after being "enlightened" that both myopia and hypermetropia could happen at the same time, there was this day when i was placing a device on my lap below my chin and resting on my chest, while my hands stretched beyond and placed on the keyboard.. for convenience (actually lazy to move), i was trying to read the serial number of that device by looking down right from that position.. to my utter horror, i could not see the serial number!! i have to move my head up and lower the device a little for a bigger distance before i could read it clearly.. i immediately got alarmed, "oh my, is this long-sightedness coming too early??" *blue face and sweat*!! i calmed down and quickly googled hypermetropia *light bulb*.. relieved was what i read from a few websites that, a normal human vision allows one to see things 25cm away up to an infinite distance.. meaning it's absolutely fine that i could not read the serial number from such a close distance (about 15cm), hehe!! terkejut badak i.. a little knowledge sharing here, and remember never get paranoid before you confirmed thing is happening.. :D |

Is true that while the age is getting bigger and we need to more concern about health, last time I can stay up all night don’t need to sleep ya, but if didn’t sleep more than 6 hours I will feel super tired throughout the whole day…
ReplyDeleteI heard about this from my eldest brother in law and my brother recently, I guess they’re roughly same age as you, he said ya see the closer thing need to take off the glasses, but see the far one have to wear the glasses, so now my brother in law he bought one glasses that can open the glasses one which is almost similar design as the sunglasses (like people has short-sightedness, they’ve to wear glasses all the time, but how about they want to wear sunglasses?? So they will need to put on extra sunglasses on top of their glasses, right? So like that they still can have a sunglasses with the correct short-sighted facts on), don’t need to take off the glasses, you still wearing the frame but the glasses you can push up (opened up) then can see closer thing.
Copy pasted yesterday comment, come back later..
DeleteBut I wonder how far the exact distance between the serial number and your eyes (paiseh, very hard to imagine, I tried the exact same thing you mentioned but I still see it clearly la, but of coz if put too closer then can't see la and head will feeling a bit dizzy tim)
yeah.. suffering from either one is already quite troublesome, if BOTH come together ah, really cannot imagine how troublesome upon troublesome it is.. hope there is advanced technology to help us with this soon..
Deleteerrr, about 15cm, quite near hor?? haha..
Quite near ya, for me I feel a bit dizzy la! But anyway I think the best is always don't see this so near, keep the safety distance is good for the eyes and also won't tiring ourselves, right?
DeleteYoungsters can see small prints up close to their eyes. I don't think I can do that but I can still see small prints at a normal distance. Customers always like to ask for the expiry date so my eyes need to be sharp.
DeleteOMG! Got such lazy customers who rather asked you for expiry dates! Tell them you left your eyes at home. Muahahaha
DeleteI used to curse and the food manufacturers as they always print their expiry dates at odd places using silly fonts. I often wondered why the whole world could not create a standard procedure to print at bottom areas using same big fonts. They could set the whole world to use same A4 and A3 sized papers. This is similar theory of enforcement.
Yah, this is actually a good idea like got some product they put the period last to keep the product but how are we know when do we buy it or when was the manufacturing date? Got certain products but some really don't have then for safety always got to throw it, no like because we don't want to waste it then rush our life to try the food, right?
DeleteYesterday, I like your last sentence in your first post.. And this was what I did too.. You really un me wor.. I usually read your post first, then minimize it (coz colleagues/bosses can see), I open a Word document and start typing.. After I’m done, I sekali copy and paste, according to different paragraphs.. Senang !! And people thought I’m bz typing some kind of assignment, haha..
ReplyDeleteSo actually, I’ve typed some stuffs la, but waiting for you to publish second post, then I copy and paste everything here, looks like I so rajin, type so much early morning hor.. Actually leh, I start work 8.30am, but you always publish 8.38am, but still can la, bosses not yet come in.. So usually I will spam everything kau-kau first, then only do my work..
DeletePrincess here ahh, also got rabun jauh la.. Rabun jauh means cannot see far rite? And rabun dekat means cannot see near rite.. I was detected with rabun jauh at 10 years old.. That time, power on both eyes already 200… Wearing thick plastic glasses at age 10, haizzz…
DeleteThen when I went to college, I saved up and bought contact lens.. When I started working, I still wore contact lens, but stopped after a few years due to some eye infection.. Now, I don’t wear contact lens jor loooo.. I wear glasses when I’m driving, but I don’t need glasses at work.. My power is 500 on one eye, and about 300 on the other eye.. I can use one dominant eye to “help” with my sight, so that’s why I don’t need glasses during work/driving when there’s bright sunlight..
DeleteLASIK? This issue leh, I’ve been comtemplating since I was 22.. I was thinking, if wana do, better do while you’re young.. More worth it ma.. Imagine doing it at the age of 35, and then, macam wasted so many year jor (from 22-35), you un? But then ahh, princess here NATO (no action, talk only) la, until today, still dare not do LASIK.. I know, I know, many people did it liao, with high success rate also.. But still, hmm, up to you to call me, I’m a bit conservative, or maybe chicken, I’m still scared la.. What if, I mean if, there’s 0.0001% chances might go wrong, then go blind jor, how? Eeeee, takut..
DeleteI heard hor, as we age, power becomes stagnant or maybe go down leh.. Believe mou? I don’t know if there’s any studies or research about this, but I also can observe from real life people leh.. When they are older, power becomes stagnant, no more going up.. When they go to test/check their eyes ahh, power gone down a bit timmm..
DeleteOoohh, one more, I guess most people knows liao.. Bilberry and Vitamin B supplements help to make the power down, but you gotta eat consistently for many years la. And my friend told me, if small kids wearing glasses at a young age, they have this eye massager thingy, to help massage the eyes, to bring down the power wer.
DeleteNow ahh, you no need to change glasses jor lor, if wana look far or look near.. One multi-focal glasses like you said, kaotim liao.. You only need to tilt the head upper or lower to see far or near, kekekeke.. And best of all, 3-in-1, there’s this black shade thingy incorporated inside too.. Dunno what’s it’s called.. You go out and kena sunlight, the lens automatically become dark geh.. Canggih, huh..
DeleteOk, about your second post, errr, I’m STILL trying to imagine your story.. Placing a device on your lap, below your chin (ok, this one I know), and resting on your chest (errr, wah, means the device is so huge and long ga, until your chest from the lap?), and trying to see the serial number by looking down like that (ok, this one I know), and you can’t see the number.. Eh, normal la, certain position ahh, cannot see one la, have to adjust-adjust only can see one.. No issue la, dear..
DeleteYou see too near of coz cannot la darling.. Place further a bit, ma ok jor lor.. Hak sei chi ki for what?
So far, i never wear contact lens before, my eyes sensitive...
DeleteGood Afternoon Bloggers!!!
DeleteOh My Gawd!!! This Princess has eye power of 500 and 300 yet you still could sit in the office looking pretty without glasses! I would be blind like a bat and fall into the toilet bowl. Wakakakaka
I really salute you and how do you 'see' people? They all looked blurr and sotong faces, right? LOL
You started wearing glasses just one year ahead of me. I started at 11 years old and wore contact lenses when I started working as I played badminton. I also went catamaran & windsurfing where I always fell into the sea!! In the end, I quit using contact lenses as my eyes were often too dry because I slept with the lenses!!!
DeleteI totally agree that daily intake of billberry and vitamin A would help to strengthen the eye's cornea muscle that will help correct our vision. You mentioned Vitamin B instead and I am curious which doctor said so??
DeleteI must start eating these supplements again as my eyes have been so tired lately from spamming SK's blog postings!!! Wakakakaka just kidding nia. SK should give away a CD and a bottle of Billberry Pills to all the TOP 3 spammers lah.. Agree???
i also had problem with my eyes when i turn 11, started with 200 both eyes and then after than slowly increasing to 650-700.. if without my glasses or contact lens, my world is all blurry blurry one.. but then i really am shocked lah, Princess Ribbon with 500 and 300 and yet does not need to wear her glasses at work!! aiyoyo, that would quite strain the eye leh, are you checking up your eyes again to see if the power increase??
Deletei didn't wear contact lens until i am in college, and since then i always put on my contact lens when i am out, i only wear my ah pek glasses at home, hahaha!! OMG, cannot sleep with your contact lens lah, couple of hours of nap still okay, but don't wear your contact lens 24x7 dei, your eyes need to breathe also..
I also don't need glasses when I'm at work. My power is just about 100 or so. Not too sure anyway. I only wear glasses when I drive or watch a movie.
DeleteOops, TM, you are right.. Vitamin A is the answer hehe.. I think Vitamin B is for "feeling good", it helps to relax and can cure mild unhappiness? Hehehehe..
DeleteTake more carrots...rich in vit A
DeleteI am so curious to see Thambee wearing Ah Pek glasses at home! You must be cute like Doraemon! I am sure SK looks more handsome with his glasses! Show! Show! Show!
DeleteI need to do more eye exercises and hot towel treatment to decrease the power. It works!
Monsieur Chris, you can get plentiful of natural Vitamin A from all the red colour fruits and vegetables like strawberries, dragon fruits, cherry, carrot, beet root and tomatoes!! I am not sure blood is suitable or not to drink? LOL
Good morning sk
ReplyDeleteAiyo you ah very bad la . Split into two post. Habis i cari cari where to type comments yesterdsy but tak jumpa. I thought my lou fah (how youcall that ah ) had gotten worse till cannot find where is the commenting section. Refreshed a few times yet cannot find. Then think think maybe tarak comment section la.
Type and copy and paste ah. Aiyo ...me tarak that rajin lo. me spontanous better . Mouth no insurance LOL. Typing cakar kucing.
DeleteYou also confused me yesterday and made me find all over the place to leave comments! Meow rabun nenek kebayan liao! Wakakaka
DeleteI think SK is always smart and innovative to split this post. Some new tricks always come from him. I must follow. Wait, let me wear my glasses first.
hahaha, because if put all into a single post macam too long already, and i guess some readers will be too impatient to read all.. and then split into two posts, i also malas to monitor and reply the comments, so just hantam all into one lah, hehehehe~~
DeletePlease don't 6 laugh ah. If you ask me in english whether and short sighted or long sighted, i have to think quite awhile coz not sure not sure which is which. If ask me in chinese then i can tell easily la
ReplyDeleteI would be dead & blurr sotong as I really do not know how to call these 2 sights in Chinese! Tell me what it is in Chinese. I could only roughly translate into "See Far" or "See Near" in Chinese. Betul kah?
DeleteNow you made me wonder what comes after being short sighted and far sighted? I guess it could be cataract and glaucoma for advanced aged people. I am not too far away!!! Everyday we get closer to our graves.
errrr, short (or near) sighted means you can only see near but cannot see far.. long (or far) sighted means you can only see far but cannot see near.. and the same applies to Chinese also..
DeleteCataract is very common among the elderly. But thank god my mum has no cataract. She has good eyesight. She has consumed Lutein which is a supplement for eyes. I'm taking it to maintain my eyesight.
DeleteGoogled liao...lol...looks like am wrong i always assumed long sightness is cannot see faraway coz the word long and that near sightness means cannot see near.
ReplyDeleteFrom data shown, the opposite is true. Near sightnesss means cannot see far else far sightness cannot see near.
Very glad to know yours is near sightness and not far sightness. Means you are still young la.far sightness is lou fah right? Usually those who age ahem ahem of older age like me will have the far sightness la.
Aiyo...add with scientific name/terms , me lagi confused. Myopia. ..adui....gotta google
haha, you terbalik already lah.. now you must correct yourself, you are short-sighted lah, which is myopia.. and "lou fah" is long-sighted that is caused by age then this is called presbyopia, and the long-sighted that is not caused by age is called hypermetropia or hyperopia..
Deletehahahahaha.. i also learn about the scientific name and hafal them only :p
so myopia is near sightness ya Can be corrected using LASIK. so have you consider doing that yet?
ReplyDeleteAm having myopia too but dare not try out LASIK. Coz heard of he risk. For eyes I feel scare to try lo. Maybe if there is end of the road or no choice then maybe i will try . Might be too late or not? Don;t know la. But scare.
I have friends who recommended me to do Lasik at a lasik centre in Midvalley. Heard it's good and not that expensive. Around RM3k for two eyes f am not mistaken.
For a time there I was tempted but when read up more about Lasik. I feel maybe Lasik will not be able to help me much. I read up say that if the myopia is very high ...means eye very bad already, end result will still need to wear glasses even after having done Lasik. So not much of changes for me. Die die will still have to wear glasses. Only thing is the power of the glasses will be lower . Not much difference then
Maybe for you it is worth doing it la since your power is much ower than mine
Seriously...i look back at previous post. You should get Lasik done. Mine is double your power. Not much difference or help for me but for you, dont think you will need to wear glasses or contact lenses after having lasik done.
DeleteShould be quite safe la now the lasik is very advance. That time when i look and consider was around 10 years ago. Technology had come far after all this time.
But best dont take the cheapo buy fro certain discount company la. This thing we cannot jimat punya coz it's eye sight.
Maybe can consult Yannie. She done Lasik right last year and se is looking great.
My sister had to do her lasik twice!!!! That was because being a bimbo, she needed to look pretty gal and contact lenses was a terrible chore to keep clean, wash, store and replace stuffs so she had her lasik done years ago in London. Mana tahu, now she had to go and correct them again with another round of lasik in Kuala Lumpur! That means there is no guarantee that one simple surgery could last a lifetime. Probably that one depends on each individual case of hamsap eyes! Wakakakakaka
DeleteI heard a lot horror stories about doing lasik surgery until I have phobia to do it. Maybe I should look better with spectacles as I am a very lazy contact lenses user. My sister's friend had her lasik surgery done in Kuala Lumpur in the morning and she could happily drive her own car back to Johor Bahru the same day! My sister did her lasik surgery done in London and could not even drive her car home in the evening! After 3 months, she was still unable to go shopping for shoes as she could not tell the colour and shape of the shoes clearly!! Goodness!!! That scared me like shit.
I think it is more advisable to get it done at a later stage of our lives.
I also have heard of this reliable and good lasik centre at mid valley. I heard good reviews from some relatives and friends but the price sounds cheap for both eyes! Either they have reduced drastically or you heard wrongly. Check it out and let me know! I need to look handsome!! Ahem! Ahem!
Deleteyeah, i think most of us are short-sighted lah, i think this is more common than long-sighted.. and long-sighted got two types, not necessarily only old people will kena lah.. there is also long-sighted that is not caused by aging leh..
Deleteaiyoh, i have also been contemplating about doing the LASIK leh, but then also keep dragging because also worry.. it's like a dilemma lah, want to do but scared to do, hahaha!! i really like waking up, opening my eyes, and i can see the world clear and sharp!!
I did my Lasik last year on Day 7 Chinese New Year. It was just a year anniversary. So far I am satisfied for the result. I need no glasses for short and long distance reading. Of course I don't mean very small print here. I hope I can survive for good eye sight until a few more years. I also know I may need another surgery in future.
DeleteD it at later stage of life like 30 or 40. When the eye sight problems returned back, you probably be in your old age and don't bother to look good already. Also no need to be so convenient without a glass by then.
DeleteSo sorry about what happen to you friend had Lasik but the problem recurr. Maybe she is same like me la. Though do lasik but will still come back.
ReplyDeleteI suspect even if after doing lasik, ones would still need to do "maintainance". Just like car. From time to time you have to send for maintainance and have to take care.
Maybe have to eat more red food? Not Ayam masak merah ah... Rather like carrot, tomato and look at green things. DOnt stare at PC long time and these. Think you know already la how LOL.
And daily have to do eye execise. During school days our teachers saw many of us wearing specs and then he daily come into our class he will teach and after some time he will stop and tell us to execise our eyes...nit looking at ah moi or lengchai but rather look out the padang. LOL...guess that is the only teacher who will encourage his students to look out into the padang. Then he will ask us to roll our eyes to the left and right.
He said he did that daily and his eye sight become better. He had to go to the spectecles shop to change specs to a lower power ones.
Anyway...too bad i didnt follow up with that or else maybe my eye sight will not be that bad la
LASIK is not 100% corrective, but also because this friend did LASIK many years ago.. i guess if we are not taking care of our eyes then high chances that it will come back.. and yes, i have heard that if we always train our eyes to look far, that can actually help to reduce the power.. because we are short-sighted, so we train ourselves to look far.. but too bad huh, seems like many of us nowadays only look at phones and computers :D
DeleteLasik is not perfect. It can be under-corrected or over-corrected. Meaning if under-corrected, one still has some short-sighted. If over-corrected, one gets long-sighted. It can be worrisome and scary too.
DeleteLASIK is not 100%. I agree. Before LASIK, my left eye was 600 and my right eye was 100 short sighted. I also have myopia that time. So, after done LASIK, I left with 100 at my left eye and 100% corrected for my right eye. Meaning I still have 100 short sighted at my left eye and MYOPIA may come back due to age.
DeleteWhoa!!! I am shocked to hear this new statement of under-corrected or over-corrected theories!! I never knew there could be such flaws carried out by the professionals. I only thought that when one ages on later, the level of our eye muscles would drop which will make our corrected visions blurr again though in a smaller power changes only that may not even need the use of glasses!
DeleteSo far I had seen a few who had red marks of their eye balls after the LASIK and they looked scary like blood shots!! Yeeeeeeeerrr!!
Yes...every surgery has side effects!
DeleteI think i might need multi focal glasses now coz now if near, some words i cant see. It seems to be blurred. But if i take off my glasses and look at the word, i can see wor. Is that called Hyperopia or Presbyopia? Google but still cannot digest. Aiyo ...what ever pia , I seems to be getting them liao. Confirm la no need to look at my gray hair...comfirm memang old already LOL. Soon can get senior citizen discount . Cham...sure kena ketuk by Anay liao LOL
ReplyDeleteWah! I got twitched in my eye brows and this meow really called my name! I think what pia and pia you have does not matter any more. We all know you have this unique Nenekpia Syndrome!! Wakakaka
DeleteI read somewhere about this issues where sometimes people confused hyperopia with presbyopia, which also is a difficulty in seeing up close, but has a real different cause.
When people developed this presbyopia, they find they need to hold books, magazines, newspapers, menus and other reading materials at arm's length in order to focus properly. When they performed their daily work, such as embroidery or handwriting, they may have headaches or eyestrain, or feel fatigued.
You are a qualified receiver of Warga Emas discounts and good luck to you dei.
hmmm, like that you better go and have your eyes checked lah.. or maybe you are reading too much books until the wee hours and you tired your eyes only?? haha.. hyperopia or presbyopia both also long-sighted, can see far cannot see near.. but hyperopia is nothing to do with ageing like presbyopia..
DeleteSometimes too much of reading can tires the eyes. I experienced it before. I did too much of computer work and suddenly my eyes became blurry. I quickly take Berries drink and rest my eyes. Fair enough, my eyes became normal again.
DeleteI do experience this eye fatigue almost daily with hours spent reading blogs, typing computers and watching late night TV programmes! Even when berries drinks could help the tired eyes, I realised the repeated unhealthy long hours could cause damage to our eyes in the long run. The muscles would simply loosen their grips and cause permanent damages.
DeleteSo the saying goes ~ Prevention is better than cure!
Don't get bi-focal lens...it's very inconvenient. Go for progressive lens.
DeleteAm now thinking of getting a multi focal glasses but ....hmm...heard that there are quite many problems with those. chicken chicken chicken...maybe self denial and wait some more la. maybe i dont have long sightness leh... it;'s just in my imgination leh.
ReplyDeleteBut for long sightness it seems like no cure geh. It's either get the multi focal glasses or to get Lasik and other corrective surgery done.
hahaha it would be funny to see how the doctor gonna do it for my case...both long and sort sightness. Haiz...why both cannot contra out each other like in accounting leh. That one kan baik .
huh?? problems with multi-focal glasses?? i have not heard about that, i only know they don't look nice because you have one extra little square "patch" of lens at the bottom of your glasses for the "lou fah".. but maybe now they have advanced in the technology and everything is blended into one nice lens??
Deletehahaha, yes!! i once thought both won't happen together and they somehow can contra, but i was wrong!!
Nowadays, multi-focal glasses doesn't look like those ones anymore. They look just like any ordinary glasses. That's what I heard from my friend. But short-sighted does contra long-sighted provided the power is not high.
Deletewhat la you...sendiri scare ownself...duno terkejut badak or terkejut beruk or whatever la. You still damn young la. wait for a decade or more la then maybe you will have this long sightness la.
ReplyDeleteNow you have to execise your eyes la. In you line of work need to stare at the computer for long time. Better become a rabbit and eat more carrot la. come come ...i belanja you carrot juice. With milk or not?
Eh you tired reading that in you PC? You mean an apps through the PC ah? I don't understand la.
For m, it is more accurate la if you were to go to test in the optical shop. Ownsel test not accurate one
yeah, really sendiri scared ownself lah, terkejut badak and terkejut beruk also lah, hahaha!! and true, i must learn to look at things far away, hope this will help to reduce my power..
Deleteerrr, no, not on the PC.. but something i am holding and i was trying to read the serial number from the sticker.. maybe too near already so cannot see..
We just need to relax our eyes once in a while while using your pc. Exercising your eyes is good to keep your eyes healthy.
DeleteHUh...Normal normal human vision must see object 25cm away? cham....like that i definitely have long sightness liao. Confirm liao...sobs......
ReplyDeletenow your turn to treat me drink carrot juice liao....
that was what i found from some of the websites la..
DeleteMost of us have mild long sighted but in certain cases it can be very bad. My friend at the age of 30 plus already needed long sighted glasses.
DeleteHahaha, in the end, no drama. I wouldn't be surprised if there is someone with your case quickly rush to the eye specialist and being told to spend few thousand bucks to buy a "special" glasses to solve his problem! :D
ReplyDeletehahaha, but it's not wrong with those "prompt" action, afterall better to nail down things while they are still minor, agree??
DeleteTrue, our eyes are very important. Take good care of our eyes.
DeleteI have been short sighted since primary school. I couldn't see what the teacher wrote on the blackboard and was diagnosed when I was in standard 5. My power at that time was 300+ both sides.
ReplyDeleteThen it got worse. In secondary school it went up from 800+ to 1,000! My spectacle lenses were so thick and heavy as thw technology was not so advanced then.
DeleteSubsequently after I started working, I switched to contact lenses. My power is still 1,000+ range. I do have a spare pair of spectacles for home use,
Deletei kena that when i turned 11 and that time already 200 each eye leh.. oooh, you must have been watching too much TV?? you mean two eyes add up to 1000+ or 1000+ for each of the eye??
DeleteI heard that LASIK does not offer a permanent solution as your short sightedness may come back although to a lesser degree. I had contemplated LASIK but am holding back due to the risk and also the price.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, because LASIK is not 100% corrective.. i have been contemplating but then you know, wanted to do it but then scared to do it too..
DeleteThere are many types of LASIK with different side effects and recovery periods. You can google it.
DeleteOh yah, talk about being short sighted and long sighted at the same time! It has happened to me now sobs! Got that last year when I realised that the newspaper print is so blur. I had to put it further away to focus and read. That's when it hit me that I am getting old as long sightedness usually happens to older people. Cham liao!
ReplyDeleteSo in your case it was a false alarm, yah? And I like that expression "terkejut badak". You terkejut for nothing lah. And I do hope that you don't get long sightedness because it is very frustrating. Like when I want to fill up pos laju courier slips, I have a really hard time.
DeleteMy optician did something for me i.e. he lowered my power on my left eye to sort of balance things out. But he warned me that it would be good for only one year and my long sightedness will come back. At first I could read the papers at normal distance but now my problem is back. I don't want to wear granny specs to read!
DeleteNow I can finally understand why my grandparents always put the newspaper or whatever they are trying to read far away from them. They always held it at arms length and I found that funny.
Deleteyes, i do agree it can be troublesome if both long and short sightedness hit us.. with just short sightedness i already find this very inconvenient, not to mention BOTH..
DeleteIt is very very troublesome to have both long and short sighted. Yannie was one of the sufferers until last year, Yannie resorted to LASIK. Now, Yannie is happy so far.
DeleteThere are exercises that we can do to strengthen our eye muscles and improve our eyesight. The problem is, lazy to do. At one time when my power went up to 1,000 (secondary school) I was very frightened. I did eye exercise quite regularly and it did help a bit.
ReplyDeleteoh really?? what kind of eye exercise?? training our eyes to look far and on green stuffs to relax the strained eyes??
Deletewatch porn ? oopps..... muahahahahaha...
DeleteSo when did you first wear glasses? My first pair was Rodenstock imitation frames hah..hah...recommended by the friendly optician. My mum was the one who took me there and I was quite happy with the frames.
ReplyDeleteThese days spectacle frames got macam-macam style, design, colours and made from lightweight materials. Some of the stylish ones can be quite pricey.
DeleteThe second time I had to change my specs (due to increased power), I was not so lucky. My dad was the one who took me there. He chose for me a black 60's style frames against the kind opticians advise. The optician told him that the old style frames was not suitable and I might get teased by my classmates.
DeleteI was really sad with my dad's choice but during those days you just obeyed. Not like kids these days who can voice their protest and parents do listen to them.
DeleteThe optician was right. I was teased in school and it made me very sad and self-conscious. I wore that ugly specs until Form 5. Then finally, my mum allowed me to switch to metal frames. It was such a relief!
DeleteYou really brought me smiles and ear to ear grins to hear Rodenstock brand which was a trend back then. I didn't know they had fake brands on sale by opticians. My time in Penang, that Mona Lisa was in fashion and more affordable than Rodenstock. However, RayBan was an all time classic fashion from decades ago till today.
DeleteWhat a sad thing you had to wear thick plastic frames until got teased like an ugly duckling in your school. Muahahaha I am always very curious how you looked like as you hide yourself behind the vegetables profile!! Muahahahaha I always imagine you wear a chef's white hat holding a rolling pin and a wok on other hand. Wakakaka just kidding. Can you show? Show?
Many years ago the costs of spectacle frames and lenses were much more expensive than now as there were lesser market competition then. Now China has advanced skills and killed all the leading brand names with their low cost manufacturing in imitating exactly. Now the brand leaders in fashion and cosmetics have to ask them to manufacture to cut costs.
DeleteSo the kids and younger generation are spoilt with more choices at very low and affordable prices for eye wears!
my first pair of glasses was when i turned 11, wah, got brand somemore ah?? i don't think mine had a brand, even if it had, i can't remember also.. it's those plastic frames and i remember my frame always break and gotta change to new ones very often, well, school boys!! hahaha.. of course now, my glasses can survive many many years, first because i only wear it at home, and second of course now an Uncle, sure know how to take care of the glasses..
DeleteI wore mine at 11 too .... same same. My kid last worse ...he wore when he is 8 years old. Thanks to mobile devices and us parents.. who didn't control them.
DeleteWhen I went to test my eyes (for short sightedness), I could not read the last 2 lines. I told my optician, aiyah,,,I don't need to be able to read those tint prints from so far lah. In my everyday life, I don't need so sharp vision. Unless if I want to be a sniper hah..hah... When my power is increased too high to enable me to see those last few lines, my long sightedness becomes worse. That is why my optician did not give me full blast of power. At least I can read at near distance.
ReplyDeletehahaha, i don't remember how well i read the lines and to which lines i was told to read.. just follow what the optician told me and blah blah blah, he's got my prescription and then my new glasses.. no idea what adjustments had been done..
DeleteIt is important to take good care of our eyes. There are quite a few eye problems that can happen like glaucoma, cataract, retinal detachment etc. Also with contact lens wearers, infections can occur like ulcerated corneas.
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, contact lens can be very risky thing.. remember to be hygienic and do not try to be lazy~~
DeleteIf you are rich enough , wear those daily disposable ones. But then, if you have presbyopia , it won't help.
DeleteI envy people who have normal vision. Contact lenses are an improvement from wearing glasses but quite troublesome especially when boarding a flight on long distance.
ReplyDeleteOne time, my contact lens got torn while it was still in my eye! I felt pain and discomfort but waited until I got home. I git a shock when I removed my lens. It was torn and the sharp edges rubbed against my eye!
DeleteMust be very painful, why didn't you remove them immediately
DeleteOMG torn contact lens!! that's horrible.. but i also got one horrible experience.. i was trying to remove my contact lens, and i thought it was still stuck to my eye, and so i keep on pinching.. until later only i realized it has already been taken out without myself knowing it, and i have actually been pinching my cornea trying to pull it out!!! OMG, i could have gone blind anytime if i continued!!!
DeleteI kept my contact lens in its case since I hardly wore them. When I needed them, to my horror, they were dried and wrinkled. My boy played with the case and poured away the saline water without me knowing it!
DeleteWithout my lenses, I am almost blind. Everything is a blur and I cannot even see clearly 1 foot away. But I can read if I bring my book within 2 inches from my eyes.
ReplyDeleteyeah.. i really envy people with normal eyesight.. it must feel so good to wake up in the morning, open your eyes and you can see the world around you clear and sharp..
DeleteWith my left eye power 1200 and right eye 1100, I thought I was the worst case. But my optician told me of another patent whose power is even higher than mine. I can't remember that person's power and now wondering what is the highest power possible?
ReplyDeleteWah!!! i would cry rivers and buckets if my power reaches 1000!! I am already suffering at 500!! i am not sure how to advise you but I often took Bilberry at one time and wore those black pin holed black glasses to exercise my eyes balls while watching TV with it. My power reduced slightly when i made a new pair of glasses!! No kidding! Our eyesight problems are simple due to the muscle issues that could also be corrected by simple morning eye exercises and supplement intake. Now these lasik treatments that could not guarantee us a lifetime corrected vision, simply depending on one's eye cornea's muscles inside! Oh boy, I really talked like an expert eye specialist! Wakakaka just my 2 cents
Deleteoh, now, that is scary!!! you are almost double my power.. mine is 650 for left and 700 for right.. i actually have not been checking my eyes for many years and have been getting contact lens with the same power and wearing the same glasses for years.. increased or decreased, i may not know because i may be too used with the same old power..
DeleteAnother problem I have is poor night vision. Rabun ayam! So I better stay indoors are night :D
ReplyDeleteI just learned a new word Rabun Ayam today. I have heard of this word but confused with Reban Ayam!!!!!! OMG!!! Stupid Anay kena patuk by ayam! Wakakakakaka
DeleteI think all humans have this astigmatism issues in their night visions but their level just differs. My wife need not wear glasses but her astigmatism is quite bad that she dare not drive at night for long distance whereas I could drive from KL to Penang along the dark highways. I even drove from Southern California across the pitch black deserts and arrived Grand Canyon at 3.00am! My eyes were dead tired of course!
yeah, rabun ayam, i know this, cannot see well at night.. and i guess this is probably astigmatism huh?? i do have astigmatism too, but i think it's minor, about 50 on one eye.. people with astigmatism cannot see sharp images and of course don't drive if you are not having your glasses or lens..
DeleteI have slight astigmatism too. But the glasses corrects it so it's no problem when I drive at night.
DeleteI realize I cannot see clearly when driving at night, especially if I am wearing glasses. If wearing contact lens still ok wo!
DeleteAfter check then only realize I got astigmatism, luckily not so serious... Then make a new pair of glasses, better now. Otherwise really dangerous to drive like that, at night some more.
说起近视就"激心", 话说我的近视又加深了 :(
ReplyDelete證明你還年輕~~ :p
Delete加深是很正常的啦!不过你有戴眼镜的吗Choi Yen?
DeleteI need to put on and take off my glasses alternately while seeing far and near and I have "old flower eyes".
ReplyDeleteso you only have "old flower eyes" and no short-sightedness??
DeleteI have both, old flowers eyes and short-sightedness
DeleteSo when I need to read, I have to remove my specs and in order to look far, I put on my specs again, very troublesome
DeleteMy spectacles use for over ten years, but usually I don't wear spectacles, I wear contact lens (the monthly disposable type).
ReplyDeleteMy contact lens is the multi-focal type because I got "old flower eyes".
DeleteSpectacles can made until like a fashion piece also, some people wear specs look very stylish but I don't like to wear specs
DeleteI can't remember when I started wearing glasses and contact lens, I think it is after I started work in the society, definitely not during school
DeleteThey say look at green trees for a period of time, your eyesight will improve, don't know how true
Deleteyeah i also wear contact lens most of the time, i only wear my glasses at home..
DeleteI didn't know the contact lens got multi-focal ones. I had disposed of my contact lens long time ago. I'm back with my short-sighted glasses as I feel it's convenient too.
DeleteLast time I prefer contact lens, but I realize if wearing it for too long is not good, and my eyes tend to get dry and uncomfortable. So I only wear contact lens during special functions like attending dinner, or when traveling (cause sure will take photos when traveling, I look ugly with glasses in photos, haha xD)
DeleteOther times, I just wear glasses, so much easier! No need rinse hands la or so on, just wear the glasses and can go out already =)
Because I had lazy eyes last time, it was not convenient to wear glasses. I had dizziness and headache for wearing glasses too long. My only solution was wearing contact lens. I left with no choice but to go for LASIK at the end. I need to do exercise everyday. Wearing glasses or contact lens are not convenient for me.
DeleteYou are still young, going to be 19x2 only, still many years to go before you need lo fa ngan specs. Thanks for confirming that both can exist at the same time. I am experiencing it myself. With my spectacles on, I could not read small print 25cm away. If I remove my shortsightedness specs and hold the fine print closer than 25 cm to my eyes, I can read them. So confirm that I need lo fa ngan specs already but since I can still read the fine print when I hold the paper very close to my eyes, I am putting off getting a lo fa ngan specs. I would not be ordering a bifocal specs because my mother told me that it is not very useful to wear bifocal specs. Just wear shortsightness specs when doing normal things and wear lo fa specs when reading a book/document or etc.
ReplyDeletehaha, 19x2 is not young anymore, but touch wood!!! i don't hope to have "lo fah ngan", being short-sighted is already very inconvenient, i do not want BOTH to attack me later, haha.. hmmmm, true enough, being short-sighted, if we cannot see far, we can just take off our specs and then hold the thing close to our eyes huh?? but of course, provided that we can get hold of the stuffs.. haiz, how i envy people with normal eyesight~~ :(
DeletePeople with normal eyesight will soon be long sighted too. They will need to wear the glasses too when they need to read. Most of my friends are already wearing long sighted glasses.
DeleteWell, I got a progressive lens 2 months ago and now I gotta live with it. Long sighted and short sighted together. I need to adjust my eyes by looking up or down or move my specs a little towards up or down when looking far or reading.
ReplyDeleteI have both short and long sighted but I only need glasses for seeing far. I can actually still able to read even without a far sighted glasses.
DeleteIt took a little adaptation initially while wearing progressive lens where for me, it's around 3-4 weeks. Mine is a cheaper one around RM800+, which is also recommended by my optician where as a first buyer, no need to wear a good one yet. Get adapted first then I can opt for those better and expensive ones which has a larger reading area.
ReplyDeleteOh...btw, you are absolutely normal la...
ReplyDeleteAccording o my optician, presbyopia started at 35 for guys and 40 for ladies. Since you are 19+19... ok la..accept it...muaahahahahah....
You got the facts wrong same like me. Initially, some smart Alec also told me the same thing...if you have presbyopia, your short sighted will not grow anymore or stabilise. It's wrong... both will still grow at the same time.
ReplyDeleteIf you increase the power of your short sightedness, chances are you will have problems reading. Thus, the optician usually will either -
ReplyDelete1 Recommend a progressive lens
2 Try not to increase your short sighted power too much
You will need to put the book or reading device farther away if you power of your lens increased.
I suggest you get a progressive lens if needed.
I may change to a better progressive lens in 1-2 years time with transition. I miss my transition len. It really protect the eyes.
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking about protection ,yes that will help in reducing your power.
1 Stop reading for too long
2 Stop reading until too late till the late nights. (I always do that and my power keep increasing. Even my kid too, he 'ipad' too much liao
3 Take supplements or food that are good for the eyes
4 Look at green nature like fields and plants
My eye sight has become worse because of reading FB too long on my phone. Now, the culprit isn't TV or computer, it is our smart phone which distort our eye sight the most. Don't you think so?
DeleteAnyway, not to scare you, but presbyopia can be developed very fast as you aged. My presbyopia power increased 100 in a year. Thus, maybe you want to google the net on how to prevent it besides those that I recommended.
ReplyDeleteYeah, of course never get paranoid la because of little things. Anyway, it's good you go for an eye check to see how is it for some peace of mind.
ReplyDeleteBut then, sorry to say it's quite difficult to avoid it. It's an aging issue... sigh .....
LASIK only temporarily. It will come back after 20 years I think.
ReplyDelete20 years?? Sure? But also worth it already la, haha!
DeleteYes, on the long run, it's more economical as usually, we change our glasses every 2 years. Add up all the cost of the glasses, its still cheaper but then have to consider the implications. Get a good doc but still no 100% success rate.
DeleteI started wearing glasses when I was in secondary school. When I went to college, I.started wearing contact lens as I wanted to look good. I wore contact lens when I got married too.
ReplyDeleteNow I hv stopped using contact lens since I'm back to glasses.
I only use glasses when I need to see far clearly especially while driving. Otherwise I don't need it. And I can still read the small prints even without glasses.
Sounds like most people, only need glasses when reading/driving.... Consider good already, at least don't have to wear it 24/7.
DeleteTrue, I dislike wearing glasses as my face tends to sweat when the weather is hot. So I just wear glasses when necessary.
DeleteI also dislike wearing glasses, I can't wear glasses for more than half day, I feel dizzy even now I can't wear sun glasses for too long. My ears will be painful.
DeleteAfter investing into Rayban, I feel regret immediately as I can't wear for too long. I feel dizzy and uncomfortable, I swear to myself, I mustn't buy any sun glasses after having Rayban. It is just a waste of my money for investing into sun glasses la!
I went to see an ophthalmologist friend of mine late last year, she suggested that I do LASIK as it'd be perfect for my active lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteBut the downside will be,I may need reading glasses after the procedure. Gasp!
That or just correct one eye so that I can see far and still be able to read, without glasses. Huhuhu
I think not all people are suitable to do LASIK....
DeleteMaybe do Lasik but don't over-correct it. Leave some power so that you don't need long-sighted glasses in future.
Deletelina, this is the reason why I went for LASIK last year. It is good for those who do sports everyday. When sweat going into our eyes, it is no joke, very irritating. Glasses or lens also very troublesome. That is why I brave myself for the surgery.
DeleteSince form 4 till now, my power didn't change much... 225-275 both eyes... and now due to old age, the short sightedness became even lesser... as you said.. multi focal.. aiyah, you not yet la.. still a long way to go.. so no worries...
ReplyDeleteWow, that's good wert, power din't change, I am impressed!
DeleteWhen we are working, we don't need to put much pressure on our eyes as compared to school days. Hence the power of the eyes become stagnant.
DeleteMine shoot up like dunno what ... I think I need Lasik soon....
DeleteSpeaking about LASIK, I had surveyed about it, even asked my friend who did it, asked lots of things la, haha, but in the end, I still haven't do it yet =_=
ReplyDeleteI also don't know why I am delaying.... Not because of money, not because I am scared, but... may be I don't have the time? Cause Taiping tak da, nearest also must go Ipoh.
Now I am not sure if LASIK is getting cheaper or more expensive? Last time I asked my friend, she did it around RM 4k. Then she told me it's almost painless, and until now (been 3-4 years already) eyesight still ok, she din't regret it!
Makes me wanna go do also, haha xD But now of course cannot la, since I am pregnant, and even after I deliver, also have to wait for a while then only can do, better la.
Being short sighted is really not good, we have to spend extra money to make glasses/buy contact lens. Then certain activity memang not convenient to do, like swimming/exercising. Haih~ But what to do? I am already like that since secondary school, I think it's genes, since my dad also is short sighted, but now become 老花 already la, hehe.
DeleteMy brother also wear glasses one, so I can confirm it's genes la.
And my hubby is also the same, but his I think is not genes, cause none of the in laws wear glasses, it must be he din't take good care of the eyesight when he was younger. So what I wanna say is, since both of us are wearing glasses, I am pretty sure our kids will be the same next time =_=
So now I really become more strict when Aden is watching the iPad/TV, I will shout at him if I see him getting nearer to the screen. Cause I don't want him to really wear glasses at such a young age! 能迟点戴就迟点嘛!Imagine wearing glasses at such a young age? Not good at all.
But I do know a kid (sister in law's nephew) who started wearing glasses since 2 years old, no joke, according to the mum, it was 天生 one... He looks cute with glasses but we all know it's not good for him la!
So what I wanna say is, I really got envious at those people who has perfect eyesight! Me quite serious also leh, about 400 for each eyes...
DeleteSometimes I will try not to wear glasses at home, but somehow feel insecure, hehe...
Looking at the diagram in first part of the post, reminds me when we are at the shop making a new pair of glasses. The test procedure can be very 'painful' don't you think? Keep on asking you what alphabets you can see, or red/green is clearer? This one clearer or that one and so on...... Haha, sometimes very confusing leh, both red and green also almost the same, how to decide?
DeleteAnd I salute that tester, must have lots of patience during the whole procedure, cause sometimes we tend to stop and think and hesitate few seconds before answering, haha!
When we don't wear glasses, our power might increase further. But people with perfect eyesight might have astigmatism or long sighted when they get older.
DeleteIt depends I guess, if just resting then ok la, if do works then better wear glasses so that we don't put pressure to our eyes so much.
DeleteMy wifey also has perfect eyesight.... so envy her but my son started wearing glasses when he's 8... hhahaha
DeleteHayley - The green and the red background light is to test whether got 'san kong' or not... sorry , dunno what's the term is english.
DeleteYes, being short-sighted is troublesome. We need to wear glasses and worst when it gets heavy.
ReplyDeleteGot high index lens mah ... still looks thin...ahahaha
DeleteThese days the manufacturers of spectacles have gone hi-tech and sophisticated to invent more layers of lenses to aid our ever growing needs. Now Chris wears high index lenses today but you will need to upgrade to extras which will cost you a bomb!
DeleteMy lenses alone costs over RM1000 without the frames as the lenses are packed with high index, extra multi coated and bifocal!! I rather invest in this one piece instead of carrying 2 separate spectacles! So troublesome!
aiyo...why so expensive ? MIne with progressive lens cost me RM800. My transition lens also less than Rm1K.
DeleteI am not sure if LASIK can cure presbyopia a it's more popular with short sightedness. If not, then one still have to wear glasses. Thus, it defeat the purpose of not wearing glasses after the procedure. At the nd of the day, it benefits those who only have short-sighted.
ReplyDeleteOnce I had similar thoughts like you and someone told me that the LASIK specialists would be able to decide and advise the patients accordingly. I even heard that some patients could not even have LASIK surgery done even though they had money. I forgot the reasons!
DeleteI think we can google and read up more facts about doing LASIK.
LOL... back to your part 1, I am also curious how a person can have both problems. Perhaps I google it later...hahahha...
ReplyDeleteI also thought it's either one ...when you are old, your short-sighted will be decrease like what I mentioned earlier....
Whatever little eye sight problems we have, we tend to get bothered by this and that. Sadly we forgot to be thankful that we could still see this beautiful world and its myriad of colours. People even use their precious eyes to spend hours looking at hamsap internet sites and playing long hours of internet & computer games. I even heard of some death cases of chronic players.
DeleteOh well, I am merely referring to all the blind people who have no slightest vision or only have slight blurry visions to live in this world. They only wished for a normal sight. Oh dear, I better treat my eyes better and not think of looking beautiful.
Anyone here has pledged to donate their eyes when they pass away? You can download the forms online!
Read this simple article .... http://lookafteryoureyes.org/eye-conditions/presbyopia/
DeleteAnyway, always take care of our eyes. Wear sunglass when going out and those blue lens when reading on the PC.
ReplyDeleteI usually have to wear sunglasses when I drive during the daytime and when I went hiking up the mountains! It was not the sun's glare that disturbed me but I found out that the harmful rays of UV could damage our eyes and speed up the cataract and glaucoma cases! The UV levels up in the mountains are so high and scary! I suffered burns to my face and eyes during my ski trip in Korea during their brutal winter!!! It was a lesson well learnt.
DeleteI was shocked that it was such a cold winter but the UV from the sunlight was something else. I did not have such experience in US as I never visited any high mountains there like in Korea.
I got another pair of glasses which uses transition lens. I also used it for driving and when going out in the daytime.
DeleteHowever, the good thing with wearing glasses can also have a fashion appeal...don't you agreed? Even normal eye sight folks wore lens-less frame for sake of fashion....muahahaha...
ReplyDeleteYes the fashion statement is very true and everyone tries to look presentable and their best! I shook my head at the kids wore powerless lenses and their frames cost over RM1000!!!! My wife's college students wore frames from Dior, Prada and Armani without powers. I pity their parents who blindly supported their shopping! The world is sometimes nuts!
DeleteNow the new fashion frame is called the Owl Eyes look! I had them before and I remember some retarded nerd called me "Chicken Little"... Muahahaha
I used to wear disposable contact lens for my badminton a decade ago. It's very convenient and I like it. However, I stopped for a while due to budget. I tried again lately and I notice it no longer works like usual cos I have developed presbyopia. hahaha.... it's so so difficult to see after I have wore it especially when looking near and reading.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of bulls! You earn Sing dollars and got budget constraint! Adoi! We bloggers will start a Chris-Eye-Care foundation for you! LMAO!
DeleteI also wore contact lenses purely for swimming and badminton sessions during my early 20s. These days they have alien and weird colours of lenses that come in green and pink!! they look scary and I am not very sure whether they are safe to wear as I have read so many mixed reviews from eye specialists and opticians who debated!!
oi.... not cheap leh ...
DeleteSome experiences about LASIK which I heard from my colleagues-
ReplyDeleteThe procedure is very fast and painless.
The doc will ask you to look at a red dot.
The red dot is actually the laser and you cannot look at it for too long.
You will smell some burning
The whole procedure is very fast, like 15 mins. They said cannot do too long as your eyes will burn.
I did that in on Day 7 Chinese New Year in 2014. My surgery took longer than 15minutes, because i had lazy eyes. Mine was a bit complicated case. I was scared too, but I wanted so much to do without glasses. Therefore I brave myself for LASIK.
DeleteSo far, I have no regret. I feel so much convenient after the surgery. Perhaps, I need another surgery in future.
I still remember I lied on bed after the surgery. When I needed to go home, I need my husband to hold my hands to walk,as I couldn't open my swollen eyes at all. The tear kept running down from both my eyes. I had difficulty to open my eyes again in the next few hours after the surgery.
I reached home and lied on my bed for a few hours, then the next morning I felt so much better already. I went back to work after 2 days of resting only.
What an interesting sharing! No 2 persons have the same results like I have mentioned. My sister's friend could get hers done at Mid Valley and drove back alone to Johor Bahru after the LASIK & some last minute shopping. My sister was more complicated can could not shop for shoes after 2 weeks as the colours were gaudy and misleading her! Muahahaha
DeleteI believe Thambee and Anay will someday sign up together to do LASIK! Both wanna look cantek and gaya!
wow...Anay and Thambee doing lasik together and come out wearing sunglasses.... Looks so cool!!!
Deletehahaha... I was doing a medical check up yesterday for my insurance policy. The doc asked me to take off my specs and read from far away. I told him no need...totally cannot see....hahahahha
ReplyDeleteHow come insurance policy still need to do check up? You must have just signed up a new policy! So damn rich Chris, making deposits into insurance plans everywhere! Have you put Thambee and Anay's names in case you need more beneficiaries? Wakakaka
DeleteYou must be very youthful and young looking for the doctor to ask you to remove your glasses to read!!! Either doctor is blind or a good liar!! Muahahaha
Aiya ... buy for my kids la ... Dunno why I also needed to do checkup since it's not for me. Maybe it's due to that I am the source of $$$...
DeleteYa lor..the doc also siao siao ... See my thick specs already know I am blind..hahaa
William oso terkejut badak the other day when he can't read the labels on the bottle of Bovril we bought. The problem is, I can wor. So how now brown cow?
ReplyDeleteThis so common with those in late 30s and early 40s! When I am browsing at supermarket shelves, I try not to bring the bottles closer to read! I just buy it and read at home to regret later! Muahahaha
DeleteDuring office meetings with my boss, I could read the minutes easily and my retarded boss was taken aback! He is younger but could not read. He didn't realise my special spectacle lenses! hihihihi
Yes, it's very normal la... Get him a specs else he recognise you for someone else ...muahahahha
DeleteBefore LASIK, I had problem even reading my own handwriting on notebook. I had problem reading message on my phone, I had problem reading newspaper. Now, I am all ok. The best thing is I no need wearing glasses on my night tour on plane or bus. I no need taking along bottles of saline, contact lens, and glasses whenever I travel. So much easy for me now.
ReplyDeleteI have no regret for being painful for just a short while during the surgery.
Thank you Mama Yannie for the valuable tips and feedback on LASIK so that Anay could plan to look handsomer or more Gayaish! (new word)
DeleteI might delay it to a later date when my pockets$$ holes are amended. I have a costly trip coming soon this Winter. Honestly, I am seeking the possibility of LASIK not for cosmetic reasons as I have way passed the Hot Age era. I am trying to be free from glasses! It is always light and free to go swimming and jogging without my glasses stooping lowly at my nose like a hamsap old man! I might get a slap buta buta someday from old spinsters for ogling at them! Wakakakaka
I do agree it sound scary. I read the procedures and they need to do some 'cutting' or 'scraping' first on the surface or something... this is what prevent me from doing it. But then, i heard its painless but there's a recovery period.
DeleteTM ...errrr... I thought you already a humsup old man ?? muahhhaa
DeleteHoly Mary! Where did you hear about procedures of cutting and scraping the surface of the retina or cornea? OMG! You are good for instilling goose bumps to me! Argh!
DeleteI always thought it was a quick and painless sugery but now I heard of minimal 15 minutes plus burnt smoke smelling!!! Oh no, they just lost a potential customer! Bye bye cruel world!
muahahaha... I read it leh ... from some pamplets. But yes, it's a painless procedure, that I agreed!!
DeleteDoing LASIK is scary, no doubt. After that, you will have swollen eye lids and tear running down non stop for a few hours. You need to rest for a few hours on bed to rest the eyes. You will recover and have perfect eye sight on the next morning.
ReplyDeleteBut, you must remember to wear sunglasses under day light after LASIK surgery.
For me, I also have to do cosmetics surgery to bring out my sepet eyes t ouble eyelids...hahahaa... else after LASIK, lagi sepet.
DeleteOn many occasions, I saw LASIK patients wearing sunglasses for over a week during healing period. I always thought they wore them to hide the red blood shots like a vampire!
DeleteToday I learnt another new thing that the sunglasse was to shield and protect the healing eyeballs! Chris you also must not see hamsap things and sexy butts otherwise your power might shoot up to 1000 instead!
TM - errr... don't say so loud la...muahahahha
DeleteOk la.. my colleagues wore around 1-2 weeks after their Lasik surgery. However, they still wear it as a habit to protect their now precious eyes.
