Carrying and Keeping Plastic Bags in Style
Carrying Plastic Bags In Style
okay, forget about being not environmentally friendly for a moment, but let’s talk about plastic bags.. if i am given something to carry and the plastic bag is tied in a ribbon like A1 above, i am so gonna untie it right away and make sure i only carry it like A2!! haha, maybe just me but i really find it very “uncle” to tie up a plastic bag like that, though i admit i am one, muahahaha!!
Keeping Plastic Bags In Style
of course i would prefer to be given a paper bag or use my own grocery bag, but many times plastic bags are inevitable.. i don’t throw away my plastic bags but keep them to be reused as garbage bags.. if you are to keep your plastic bags, do you usually just crush it into a ball and put a side like B1, or you spend a few seconds to fold it nicely like B2?? being a perfectionist like me, surely i am doing the latter, it looks more tidy and save space too, agree?? :)

  1. When I was young I used to fold the plastic bag, like folding shirt like that, fold two side then the end result it's in square shape!!

    1. For A1 and A2 I prefer the A1 one, because when putting stuffs in the car while driving, sometimes will be like certain case like stop suddenly then the things will be fell off or roll over, so usually I prefer to tide it up la!

      Delete
    2. Agree with you when putting in the car. More secure. But not when walking holding the plastic bag hah..hah...

      Delete
    3. My house all the plastic bag is tied like picture B2. It really saves some spaces.

      Delete
    4. For walking holding plastic bag also I prefer A1 because more secure. Who knows someone may knock you and your plastic bag falls and the things inside will all fall out if A2.

      Delete
    5. actually no right or wrong but just personal preference lah, haha.. as for keeping plastic bags, i guess as long as you don't just scrunch them and place them all over the house, then it's okay lah.. :)

      Delete
    6. Hahaha, scrunch them and place them all over the house?? I'm start to imagine that, maybe it could be happened to those who never tidy up their house and also I imagine of when plastic all over the floor, the person who stepped on it might fall easily, wahaha~~~

    7. eih, never say never, because there are really all kinds of people in this world.. i guess there are real people like this lazy one leh, hahaha!! :D

      Delete
    8. Hahaha, more lazy them I'm?? >.<

"Lazy people" reminds me I've a friend who lazy to wash cloth, he can wear and wear the shirt again by taking the most bottom shirt out from the basket to re-wear it and sometimes he can even flip the shirt to wear...awee~~~

    9. Now I suddenly thinking about when I holding the plastic bag like A2, see the plastic bag like all 皱皱 together, I'll be not so happy to seeing that, I'll open all nicely and in flat, then only satisfy....I know...it's a very weird 癖好, hahaha!!

      Delete
  2. Ah hah! I thought it was only me. Ya lah, the tied up one (A1) is very auntie to me (uncle to you) and I won't be seen carrying it like that! But I do that if I am carrying my purchase into another store to give visual assurance that I am not going to shop lift hah..hah...

    1. haha, give me five!! at least i am not the only one~~ :D

  3. Guilty as charged! I just scrunch it up and sumbat into my cupboard. My partner on the other hand folds it neatly like you. Of course it is ideal to fold as it is neat, space saving and you can easily take it out without causing 20 other bags to fall out hah..hah... Also when sorted into different sizes, it makes it easy when you want to select the size you want.

    1. hahaha....2 x 5 with me la...i also simply smbat ...end up some plastic bag while waiting for me to used them...they already disintegrated.them more work coz have to sweep the pieces from the floor. But still degil just sumbat only

      Delete
    2. haha...those plastic bag from Aeon will turn to dust, I kena so many times already :D

      Delete
    3. But it's good la that they disintegrate like that.... at least won't stay as a whole plastic bag for future generations to see in our Tanah also. LOL

      Delete
    4. tarak say it's bad...only that it's bad of me to submat till wait for me to use it turned into dust. LOL Should go and fold the plastic bag nicely so can use it fast. But fold baju i also lazy wanna fold leh..wanna fold plastic bag ah...got to wait long time lo

      Delete
    5. good that those plastic can actually degrade by themselves, because i guess the frequency of me keeping those plastic bags are higher than the frequency of me using them to store garbage (meaning i create very little garbage?? haha).. as long as we keep them tidy, whether to fold neatly or just scrunch, it doesn't matter to me..

  4. Ever since going green, there are times when I run out of plastic bags. When that happens, I simply retire my green bags for a while and collect plastic bags from the supermarket. Of course not on a Saturday.

    1. Oh yes, it happened to me too, during my brother in law's bb fullmoon party at home. We asked the guests to tapao those left over food back home so all the plastic bags were gone, really satu pun tak da, til we have to go store room and korek to see if there's any plastic bags, even tupperware also almost used all.
Some guests prefer to use plastic bags directly cause they can just throw them away, if borrow our tupperware later have to come and return to us, troublesome ma.

So the next day, we ran out of plastic bag at home, totally, til I have to ask my mum to bring some over, kesian. hehehe!

      Delete
    2. very true, at times we really cannot avoid using plastic bags though we try to use our green bag.. anyway, if we are not doing recycling at least we are doing reusing - the plastic bags we got from the shops are kept to be used as garbage bag at home.. :)

      Delete
  5. So what do you use your plastic bags for? My main usage is for putting rubbish.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. me too ...putting rubbish. But those that is tough, clean and not made of recycleable material, i will use to pack up unwanted baju to give to people . Those i will also use when wanna pass things to people la. Like if you made some food...then you put in containers right...how to carry? put in plastic bag coz easier to carry lo

      Delete
    2. Yah, that's what I do too.

      Delete
    3. Main purpose is as garbage bags I believe.
But also can use for other purposes la, keeping shoes, clothes, toys, food and other unused stuff.

      Delete
    4. yes, i guess those plastic bags we got from shops are mostly reused as garbage bag huh?? can use to keep other things also.. and for the nicer ones, of course i will reuse them as carrier too..

      Delete
  6. If you tie it up like A1, it would be troublesome if you buy something else on the way back and want to throw it into the bag. I would prefer my bags like A2.
Folding plastic bag? Just so that I have to spend more effort to unfold it when I wanna use? Please... :D

  9. Morning morning.. Sorry ahh, a bit late today.. Bz+addicted playing with Farm Frenzy (Alawar).. Played until level 30 ahh (finished all levels ahh), then they say unlock the next chapter, need 250000 cash money wor.. Impossible one lor, how to play and accumulate until 10000 also is a big problem, let alone 250000..

Then after I finished the game, only I realized I published a post this morning, and I totally forgotten all about the comments liao.. Then ahh, I thought about SK’s blog, alamak, die !! Sure got new post today, and it’s already 10am now, late jor…

So here I am, good morning and salam everyone.. Sorry, am late.. SK, don’t deduct my points ok, just to report to you why I’m late today.. Coz you report a lot in my post today, I’m very happy, so I also wana do the same to you today.. Ok, finished reporting liao, come, let’s go to your post now..

Errr, later bikin malu and nothing much to comment but kak ngang wana comment, like not so good lor..

      Delete
    3. Gip me 5 !! I also do the same as you.. I don’t like to carry plastic bags if it’s like A1..

In the first place, I think very seldom kua got people/salerpersons tie up the bag like that in A1.. If it’s like that, most of the time is done by own self one la..

For example, Kz’s laundry bag is tied up like this everyday, from the school.. You see, we have to bring 3 sets of clothes to the school daily, a laundry bag, bathing towel and stuffs like that.. So at the end of the day, the school will put all the used clothes and wet towel into a plastic bag, tied up like A1, then put into the laundry bag (something like recycled woven bags la)…

So it only happens to me in this case.. In supermarket or shopping malls, I dare to say (loudly) A1 wont happen kua !!

      Delete
    4. Errr, as for B1 and B2, aiyoh, like that also can ahh? Neh, I buy from Ikea the plastic bag storage thingy, many holes one, round shape.. You just chuck the plastic bags inside, and pull out one by one if you wana use it.. Very hard to explain, you have to go Ikea and see lor.. Maybe not only Ikea, but many convenience shop got kua..

Else, I store all the plastic bags into another BIGGER bag, and hang in the kitchen, then whenever I wana use, I just dig and take out lor.. I NEVER do B2 kua.. Mostly just B1, kekekeke..

    5. Today topic ok wor, I like.. I have to admit when the screen was loading, and I see plastic bag, I feel very “mm hoi wai” ahh.. Your plastic bag is so “chau” (crumpled), like “pao harm yue” (balut salted fish) like that, but funny la, I like this post 

    6. Still got time and mood to play game, not bad ma mummy Ribbon! :p

LOL, see plastic bag also mm hoi wai meh? xD

    7. actually i would say it's all about personal preference lor.. some like it A1 some like it A2, so just leave it B1 and some must make it B2, haha!! but i guess the more important thing now is, avoid using or if not likely, use less plastic bags.. haha!!

      Delete
  10. High 5! I always untie the plastic bag right away when cashier or salesperson tied it. I just don't like it! I prefer to untie just like picture A2.

In my experience - holding a tied plastic bag like picture A1, the plastic bag will keep turning round and round while walking...hehehe.

On the other hand, picture A2. The bag will stay while I'm walking. The bag's handle easily will rested on my arms length when I stop another shop, so I can continue to shop and browse. So that is why I like my plastic bag to be like A2.

    1. My mom always said to me that my things will fall off if I didn't tied it. But so far ok, because I always put my stuffs in a basket/container below the seats. If there's a lot of things, then I have a ready foldable bag with partition in my car boot. Then, when reach home I just bring out the whole thing.

      Delete
    2. I also keep a box at the back of my car, easier.
My father in law pula keep a few pales in his cars, that's for us to store the grocery when we go Tesco, haha!

      Delete
    3. hahaha, yalor, whenever i am given plastic bags and if they are tied, i immediately untie them before i am willing to carry them, hahaha!! don't know why, but just like you said, i don't like it tied.. errr, things fall off from the plastic bags, i think if we be more careful it should be okay, and if things are meant to fall then they are meant to fall.. haha!! :D

      Delete
  11. Well , I will tied it though yes , it definitely looks like an uncle. However, I prefer convenient over looks ..hahha. ..its so much easy to carry it with a tied plastic bag and I am not worry about the goods came out especially when I am taking public transports in SG.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. errr, i actually think it's even more inconvenient with the plastic bag tied, because if i tie it, it will somehow like twisting here and there, so i like to have it untied to somewhat fixed them at the position..

  12. Anyway since I carry a backpack most of the time with me , I will put the stuffs into my bag. That solved all problems. :)

  14. Yes , I reuse my plastic bags to put my dirty clothes after a workout and my gym shoes. In fact , I'm in badly need of plastic bags as I needed it almost daily for my workout. Do you have some to spare ? I will never let go of reusable plastic bags whenever I saw them in my office and nobody wants it.

    1. haha!! you use plastic bags to keep your workout clothes and gym gears one ah?? aiyoh, that is so uncle lah.. go and get proper shoes bag and then at least those woven grocery bag for your worn clothes lah, haha!! these things you are using almost everyday, use less plastics bags lah~~ :D

  15. I will definitely not crumble the plastic bag like B1. We can still use back the plastic bag. Folding the plastic bag like B2 is a way to keep the plastic bag neatly. Erm... some of my friends will fold them into a square shape and I sometimes fold the plastic bag into triangle shape.

How I wish there's a link for us to upload our own way of folding plastic bag picture in B3 and share with the rest here. It would be fun!
Ok lah, since I was away far so behind now.... I'm just giving a suggestion here!

  17. Wei...picture B2 not neat leh...you go this blog and see http://www.luxuryhaven.co/2012/10/kitchen-tips-to-store-your-messy-plastic-bags.html. The way she fold it soooooooo nice leh. and so easy to store.

My SIL knows how to fold like that la.

For me , i have a BIG plastic bag hanging in the kitchen and simply crumpled the plastic bags and stuff it into the big plastic bag. Lazy bum punya pasal, Guilty guilty guilty

End result.....some times i find pieces of broken/hancur plastic bag at the bottom of the big plastic...coz you know la the account method... First in first out.....last in....maybe never out lo....hence those plastic bag that is recycled plastic like those of AEON will hancur by the time i wanna use it...

    so bad hor...haiz..

  18. I would carry the plastic bag as per item A2 . coz easier to carry....at least for me la. But if wanna put into a trolley or car, or stuff it into a bigger plastic, I would tie it up like A1 so that the barang will not roll out or campur aduk.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yeah, if carrying i sure will not tie.. because if tied, somehow the plastic bag will twist and turn.. just carrying it untie, kind of fixed at the position..

      Delete
  19. It depends. If I'm carrying something which might drop off, I will tie it. Otherwise, I just leave it as it is.

As of used plastic, I usually just dump into a bigger plastic bag which I used to collect plastic bags. Later when I take them to the shop, I will smoothen them up before I reuse them on a no plastic bag day.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i think keeping your plastic bags for your customers on a no plastic bag day is a smart act indeed!! and you are also giving them empty boxes to carry their groceries home.. nice work!!

  20. Paper bags not so durable la if you buy heavy stuffs like cans food. Walk halfway the paper bag will bocor or the handle will come out

You have read wenn's post about how her shop give out empty boxes on saturday for customer to carry their stuffs? I think it would be nice if more shop adopt this. Especially hypermarket la.

can help the enviroment and make customer happier ma. But now some hypermarket don't allow us to take empty boxes anymore. Guess they wanna sell those boxes to the recycling center for more profit kot

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hehe paper bag only can use to carry light stuff, or small present to give to people. If you want to carry heavy stuff then you must carry from the bottom of the bag instead of the handle, else sure koyak one.

Oh, empty boxes? Hmm good idea too! I actually put one empty box at the back of my car, just in case I need to put anything, and with the box I can make sure the content wont fall out easily ma. Box is definitely more solid than plastic bags.

    2. yalah, of course for grocery shopping, those thin paper bags are not a wise choice.. what i meant above was, those very nice hardcover type paper bags with nice strings you only get when you bought something from a high class shop, of only get when you bought above a certain amount from a departmental store.. those i definitely keep them nicely, as they can be very useful for bringing things around..

But sure there are people like SK or those who wants their plastic bag neat will only tied like B2. Would be nice for people to see how to fold into triangle. 27. Hello SK,

I prefer A1 because may accidentally trip when walking and all the contents will fall out if A2 so A1 it is. Nowadays I carry recycle bags so no need to take plastic bags.

Usually will fold and keep the plastic bags but do not fold your way. Just fold them into triangles.

Hope you have a good night sleep.

    1. Thats my concern too, if tie like A1 then no need to worry the content will fall out, especially if buying fruits, must tie them, else when you drive and make a turn, the fruits will fall out and become everywhere in the car, later kena pick them up one by one.....

For me, I don't fold the plastic bags so nicely like SK did, nor triangle shape, just fold them into 2 into square only ;)

      Delete
    2. hahaha, maybe we buy different things so the concerns are also different?? accidentally trip while walking, ouch, that would indeed be quite embarrassing especially if your fruits all roll out of the plastic bag!! hmmm, like that probably need to tie the bags..

as for keeping the bags, as long as tidy can already lah, fold or not fold also not a big issue :)

  30. Hmm, actually what's wrong with A1? I don't see anything wrong ma, hehe! What you mean very 'uncle'? You are one wert, you always say that xDD

Anyway, A1 or A2 also ok la, if tie it up like A1, at least can make sure things inside won't fall out easily. Then as for A2, fast and straight forward lo, like many people will do.
I can accept being tie into a ribbon like A1, but please don't tie with dead knot, or with cable tight, very difficult to untie leh!!

Yes, both my in laws and my mum also keep plastic bags at home, a lot tim! Not to collect sampah but like you say, must have some to keep as garbage bags, and sometimes can use to keep other things, like fruits/veges then store in the fridge, or use to keep unused stuff so that they won't collect dust.
My mum will even collect plastic bags for my aunty at KL, cause my aunty is a hawker, she needs plastic bags in her business, so at least can save a bit lo, no need to buy so many plastic bags ma, environment friendly too.

Erm, I do keep a few plastic bags at my room, as garbage bags (yes I do have a small dustbin in my room, and I clean them every week), and also to put Aden's dirty pampers, hehe.
So in my room one, I will fold them nicely and keep inside drawer.
Then in my mother in law's kitchen one, we just crush them into ball like picture B1 and put them in a bigger bag, haha! Very bias I know :p
But since my mother in law also do that, so we all just follow lo! :p

But for paper bags, recycle bags, we put them nicely in a box la.

    1. But speaking the use of plastic bags, it's really not environment friendly ho? These days I tried my best to reduce the use of plastic bags, go shopping will bring the recycle bags, or if I must use plastic bag, I will try to put everything into one bag, instead of separating them into few bags.

    2. yalah, actually A1 or A2 and B1 or B2 also not a big deal, it's all about personal preference only.. but the more important thing is, avoid using plastic bags or if unlikely then try to use less lor.. and then keep them for reuse instead of just throwing them away, fold or not fold also not a big issue lah, as long as you don't just campak here and campak there causing a mess at home, keep them tidily somewhere lor..

  31. Ah Hua is so aunty that she prefers the A1 method so that all the things inside won't fall out, just in case.

I will tie whatsoever that can be tied, except the nice classy paper bag. All plastic bags will be tied by Ah Hua, muahahaha!

  32. I would recycle the plastic bags accordingly, like what meow mentioned above. The plastic bags will be fold (mine is in the triangle shape one) and segregate into different containers based on their purpose.

Some will end up as garbage bag, some for clothes, etc.

    1. yes, I also won't throw away the plastic bags but keep them to be reused, mostly for garbage but some nicer or right size ones, I'll use to keep stuffs (for preventing dust mostly)..

  33. I don't mind how the plastic bag is being carry around - tied or no tie. I'm only particular about its storage afterward. I'm a cleanaholic >.<

  34. I would fold them into triangles. That way they are neater and take up less space.

    1. yeah, I guess no matter how you fold it, or never at all, the important thing is that you keep them nicely somewhere and not just scatter around.. :)
