08.07.2013 | 吸煙請遠

[Volume 8 Issue 7, #1750]
i don't care about people smoking, since that really is their own rights, freedom and choice.. however i do have my own voice on smokers being selfish and inconsiderate to others.. let's start with indoors, basically not an issue as many places have already forbidden smoking indoor, but problem is, many still like to smoke inside toilet cubicles, thinking that nobody could see them so they can smoke to cover the butane smell from their "business"?? sorry, but toilet is indoor and i hate smelling smoke in toilets!! a friend once splashed water into the cubicle in which a guy was smoking, i find that awesome because it's a punishment but also saved him from fuming up the butane gas in the cubicle, haha!! our law only governs indoor smoking, when it comes to outdoor, everyone is free to smoke.. sorry, but i still think something extra needs to be done, perhaps dedicated outdoor smoking areas.. i hate it when people smoke while walking, puff the toxic nicotine everywhere especially to the face of people walking behind.. can't they just stay on a spot to smoke, done and only continue their journey?? i'm sure they would like to have a nice cigarette break too, but not creating trails of smoke and pollute every inch of the street.. imagine a stray dog not pissing on the spot but instead piss while walking.. apologies if i sounded mean and i hope no one is offended but when it comes to those i-think-they-are-incosiderate people, i get rather mad.. :p

  1. Good morning bloggers and smokers.

This is good topic. I was just screaming in my heart yesterday in my gym. I could smell the cigarette smoke in the weight areas where there is a small staff room and an Emergency Exit door. I was not sure where the strong smell came from.

    1. The worst part is that I also could smell them inside the male toilet areas. I just couldn't believe that some culprit members were so desperate for ciggies and had to have a quick puff inside the cubicles! This so selfish to pollute a gym. I plan to drop off comments in their box.

    2. That idea came from SK's friend, next time you put snake inside the cubicle lagi terror.

    3. Bananaz quit the fag in 1983 when price was RM1 and now its like more than RM10. So if all the money saved till today can easily get few million RM compounded at 10-20% ? But no got millions woh at the least got healthy lungs huh.

      Delete
    4. Yalah Bananaz.

      Don;t talk about money.

Not smoking means lungs is healthier.

If you have all those money to waste, why not do something good with it, like donating or buying gifts to people instead of burning them by buying ciggies.

      Delete
    5. Lina both you and TM used ciggies, Bananaz's fag outdated still back in the 80's hahaha

    6. Would like to share my personal experience between smoking and non-smoking days. In my 20's when on ciggies, not able to climb Gunung Jerai in Gurun got 'flat out' even at the foot hills. After quitting ciggies in 40's, Bananaz successfully climbed Mt Kinabalu against Dr's advice due to my thalassemia. Say NO to ciggies.

    1. Seriously I thought cigarette's price keep on increasing? But why there're still lots of smokers out there?? There's no single benefits of smoking, why can't people think rationally? Not only endanger their own life, it'll affect the people around them too!!

    2. Smokers will thank the inventor of cigarette, but sorry I have to say I hate the inventor of cigarette! Why would someone wanna invent such things??

    3. And you know I have sensitive nose (or rather nose allergy), I can smell it from far already. So this makes me hate cigarette even more! I'd have blocked nose or sneeze if I inhale too much cigarette smokes :'(

    4. most probably smoking was invented for some medicinal value la last time but then people start to abuse it . Like opium...in the old days people eat that to cure penyakit then they started to smoke it...hence become addict.

Old days also use smoking in shamanistic rituals. They use smaking of tabacco and other drug in order to achieve "high" or go into trance. Slowing kena abused and turn into smoking ritual lo

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sitting next to a smoker in an open-air restaurant is no fun either. *Cough! Cough!*

Thirdhand smoke that I read about some years ago is just as bad if not worse. This is the smoke residue or surface-clinging residue you find on your clothes and your hair after clubbing or being in the lift with some smoker that has just been to the smokezone under the tree or whatnot.

  20. I always wonder why smokers don't want to sit ina confined space (indoors) specifically made for smokers and inhale all those smoke. You know, like a smoking section at a train station like in Japan?

My neighbours always smoke while sitting at the balcony and the smoke smell would go into our home. Why not let HIS house smell of smoke instead since he loves smoking so much! @.@

    2. To me, smokers are both pollutants and litterbugs. Not to be liked.

      They pollute the air.

They also have no qualms throwing their ciggies butt anywhere they like. :(

    3. yeah ...why why why.....

some are really inconsiderate you know....they know the table have young kids and even baby, yet they happily puffing at the table.

Usually i would change table if there are smoking people nearby. Beh tahan the smell . Worst still if they smoke one particular stinky brand of ciggy. That one teruk leh

One collegue smoke that brand, each time he comes to the air-cond room his whole body smell like he fell into dung hill. When he speaks we have to move ourselves far away a bit coz breath smell of that too .

I hate it when adults smoke in front of their kids and had no problem letting their kids' lungs rot.

    1. Very true so inconsiderate to smoke when there are kids around. Probably my daughter could be my 'saviour' as I will never smoke if she is around and not even in the house. Bananaz quit ciggies 2 months later after she was born.

    2. good for you, Bananaz. SOme dont quit and even smoke in front of their baby.

Got a girlfriend who took up smoking. Mak datuk oi....pregnant also she go smoking. Tegur her she said mind your own business. What to do ?

Last time see mostly smokers are men. But recent years saw more and more ladies smoking in public. last time ladies smoke hiding punya. Tarak in public.

so far most of my friends knowi dont like people smoking la. Usually if they beh tahan and wanted to smoke they will go elsewhere to smoke la. At least they are kira as considerate lo

My dad was a smoker, he quited after he retired. My hubs is a heavy smoker now. Had advised him to reduce his smoking but to no avail. Dont want to nag everyday and spoil everyone's mood, so just shoo the kids else where not near their dad when he smokes.

      Quitting takes strong determination, eh?

    1. To be considerate, I think it starts from oneself. Some smokers are considerate. But mostly don't. Even if you 'punish' them with cold water splashed in the cubicle, it will only get them angry and they think they are the victim of pranks.
