I only tried the donuts once because somebody bought a box of half a dozen for me. Just so-so, nothing to shout about. As for the Taiwanese desserts, somebody dragged me all the way from Sepang to Sunway to try...and I could not finish even half a bowl... Over-rated! Over-expensive! Where got nice? And those balls cause cancer! No, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteNo greetings, today? Aiseh~~
DeleteGood afternoon, peeps!! Good day, SK! A hectic Wednesday (and everyday for the rest of the month) for me!
I had those fancy donuts in less than 10 times, hehe! I have sweet tooth, don't like the conventional sugar-dusting-on-top kind of donuts, but I cannot take much of the over-coated donuts sold in those franchises.
DeleteMoreover, they are fattening!
very true, those donuts are so sweet and i guess people are buying because they see others buying.. i had them for less than 5 times i think, and those taiwanese desserts and bubble milk tea, i just had once and i cannot finish even half sharing with a friend!!
DeleteCheh! Next time SK Thambee just pass them to me. I will finish them all.
DeleteSeldom see long queues at the fancy & used to be very popular donuts joints here in Mid Valley.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not because of health awareness but we Malaysians are always fickle minded and loved new stuff. Once it grow old, time to move on to the next craze.
Healthy? Mamak places are still crowded, till the wee hours. That can't be healthy. :p
Good morning lina, STP, SK and all. It wasn't because of health, it is because of the price. See, McD is still very popular. McD isn't healhty too.
DeleteDonuts aren't healhty and also very pricey. Bubble Milk Tea also not healthy and also very pricey. So, both of them may encounter same problem like what SK predicts.
Well, I don't like this type of donuts too. First, it is too sweet for my liking, second it is too fattening for my liking, third, it is too fancy and too awful taste for my liking. I still prefer those conventional, sugar coated donuts more.
FOr me, I actually don;t like donuts. Pricey or the sugar coated - sold by makcik at roadside ones either.
DeleteNot much a fan of anything fried, goreng pisang and the likes included. Though eating a bit is nice. Not too much. Jelak. ;p
Lina doesn't like goreng stuff? I love goreng stuff, but not donuts. Pisang goreng is my favourite, especially the sweet-sweet one! Actually I like all kind of pisang-food! Pisang goreng, banana split and banana in action, opps! Kakakakaka!
DeleteI like my pisang mentah. Raw and firm. Ooooppps! LOL
DeleteThese two aunties very hamsap one. SK talked about donuts, they diverted and talked about pisang. tsk...tsk.
Deletetrue what Lina said. Health is not really a factor why people stop buying. Good example of Mama stall like what Lina mentioned.
DeleteFirst got one donut outlet then got more and then more and more "brand" comes in. Like having donut overload liao. No more "new" or "special" already.
I think kids will like these donuts la. J like la. But he like to "look" only. The other day bought some for him . he just ate a bite here and a bite there. Not really crazy about that.
eh cakap pasal dunot why sampai to pisang pulak....LOL....
yalah, that was just a fad lah, i remember the first one that opened in Pavilion caused a stir and everyone seems to be queuing and posting photos on facebook, just like what they had with the bubble milk tea.. and soon they will have the same sad ending i supposed.. hehehe!!
Deleteooopss, from the soft and fluffy donuts to the firm and raw banana with juice?? you ladies really ah~~
The same with Roti Boy. It used to have long beelines and the smell of their ovens could wake up hungry ghosts from their graves too.
DeleteNothing seems to last forever lah. However I find Starbucks a bit funny in Taiwan. You get to see people queue up but take away always!!! Funny!
DeleteMeaning that such business is only a fab, a craze, an infatuation. :/
ReplyDeleteInfatuation - love and head over heels with a product? Hehehe
Deletesupposed former infatuation junkie!! hahahaha..
DeleteI personally don't like donuts as they are usually too sweet...and not to mention expensive. :p
ReplyDeletei actually think those traditional sugar ring is the best lah.. those fancy ones with lots of filling and icing, too sweet and fattening.. and yes, EXPENSIVE!!
DeleteHmm...bubble milk tea and desserts are more sustainable. Let's see who will be the replacements. :)
ReplyDeletehmmm, more sustainable as compared to the donuts?? you said this because you love those desserts and milk tea?? hehe~~
DeleteGood morning everyone!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday morning!
Halfway through the week and to the weekend! Woohooo!!!!!
And maybe time to enjoy with some donuts?
Haven't been eating one in ages.
The last time I ate these fancy shcmancy donuts was a month ago, and it was because we got some delivered by some boss from Berjaya. ;)
lina, I will go off earlier this week. Today is my last day of working this week. I have to say good bye to those Japanese who give me training last week and this week. One of them is flower boy.
DeleteI tak sampai hati nak pergi now. hehehehe!
Yan, haha flower boy? Got photo to share bo? Kekeke...
DeleteYalah, must take photo before bye-bye mah.
DeleteIf you do take, must SHOW SHOW SHOW :-D
Met that flower boy during my last meeting with the Japanese. He looked so shy, malu-malu jeh. Yannie the leopard will terkam him when left alone with him, LOL!
DeleteI'll try to get my other colleagues who work with him closely, to photograph one or two shots. Just for your eyes only, gadis.
Hehehehe! Ah Hua, don't delete those precious shots if you really manage to snap that flower boy before he leaves on Friday. By all means, please......
DeleteRemember to snap more photo and video ya Yan.
Deletewhat flower boys? wa your office so exciting one ka.
hahaha from the berjaya boss?? his shop kena halau from the big shop to a small stall at one corner lah.. that one too sweet, the sweetest one among all, one bite already i feel like throwing away!!
Deleteaiyoh, see all these ladies are like starving hyena over that japanese flower boy!! we talking about donuts woh, how come suddenly this japanese flower boy?? @_@
Donuts? Aiyo dunno when was the last time had a bite probably in early 90's during one of our lectures in HELP Inst on a Sunday when all shops were closed leaving us no choice.
ReplyDeletehahaha, and i think during that time you only have DD to choose from.. good also lah, the others are just too sweet and expensive, better have those traditional sugar ring sold at pasar malam, a lot nicer!!
DeleteGood morning SK and everyone!
ReplyDeleteErr, I think those fancy donuts are quite fattening, see those rich cream and ingredients on top, so sweet! People are getting more and more kiasi thesedays... hehe..
DeleteAnd of course, shops that are newly opened sure attract more people ma!新屎珩ma!Then slowly, people get bored already lo...
DeleteAnyway, I still prefer those traditional donuts, with only sugars on top.
DeleteBut I will remove all the sugars first before I eat the donut, hehe..
Deleteoh yeah, i agree with you.. those traditional sugar ring is the best lah.. and i also try to shred off the sugar as much as i can before picking them up.. hahahaha!! :D
DeleteAhh, food fads! That's what's keeping our tastebuds excited. LOL!
ReplyDeleteIs it any wonder why diabetes in Malaysia is on the rise? I just read one such article a few days ago. Shocking stats.
yeah, and i think malaysian is one of the nations that consume the most amount of sugar!! imagine there are 9 spoonfuls of sugar in a piece of nyonya kuih!!
DeleteConsidering how fast fads come and go, I shuddered when I heard a former colleague picked up a franchise for a latest bubble tea sort of business.
ReplyDeleteAnother fad is the kopitiam business. I wish they'd improve on their food taste but then again if the food is not prepared by locals, the taste will never be authentic. Sigh..
yes yes yes, very true!! the bubble tea and the kopitiam!! look at how the bubble and then vanish in years to come.. anyway, the bubble tea is a high margin business, they can get ROI rather quickly i supposed, so perhaps your former colleague won't make a loss..
DeleteDonuts are my girl's favorite. She will buy lots of them when we happen to see any of those. But we always share them so as to make sure we don't take too much. Actually I would say, they are rather sweet which I don't quite fancy.
ReplyDeleteexactly, they may look very attractive and appetising, but then after you had some you don't really feel like eating more.. quite jelak lah~~
DeleteI would love to try donuts in other day, when my wallet fill with some cash hahahaha
ReplyDeletewhy I dun want to buy "that particular" donut it is because expensive. Althought it is unique hehe
yah, I still remember last time the Q can compare with the Burger Bakar hahaha...
Deletenow no more is because: the point u mentioned: Health hahahaha
more than one year didn't eat donut, now u mention it, now I only remember it.
Deletealthough the donut taste really nostalgia sometimes, but it is just too sweet to consume it
the photo you edited banyak so many "fly", makes me kinda turn off :P
Deleteso u eat donut recently eh? :P boh jio hahahaha
which one you mentioned?? i think there are a few donuts brands woh, but all the same lah, sweet and expensive, haha!! i think the best one is still the traditional sugar ring lah, cheap and nice and comparatively more healthy..
Deletehahaha, i purposely make that photo more "antique" looking to signify the decline and fall of the fancy donuts lah~~
This morning I went to yaohan looking for donuts but was told they were not ready yet.. so bought a hot dog bun instead.. not nice! :)
ReplyDeletewah, you still love to eat those fancy donuts?? hahaha.. you are still young and sweet like a little girl~~ :p
Deletein my country people are getting loco this new donuts store J Co. I havent tried it yet .. but accdng to my source they taste better than crispy cream :)
ReplyDeletebtw...I have something for you on my page
check it out!
yes, i would say so.. krispy kreme is way too sweet, i had once and just one bite i feel like throwing the donut away.. J Co is much better, and if you have Big Apple there, i think this is the best among all..
DeleteI never been in the queue :)
ReplyDeleteneither did i, i just bought a couple when i see a shorter queue..
Deletewell i guess i has nothing to do much with health awareness issues i think people just constantly change in whatever they likes its normal for us to go for something new something trendy
ReplyDeletevery true, especially with the malaysian attitude, we tend to get bored with things fast and then hop on to another new trend..
Deletei feel bad for them but atlease they were still on going perhaps they should think of new output or reinvent their products thats may help them alot
ReplyDeletebut i think it's not easy to reinvent or think of something new from a donut?? haha~~
Deleteif their target market was indeed health conscious they should do their product more healthier i mean sweets can be healthy too they just have to be innovative
ReplyDeletehmmm, i think they can sustain if they are going more health conscious, but i think most importantly it's the trend, it's over..
Deletein my case i dont worry much with what i eat life is too short to live it with too much worrying but i guess this is just for the mean time haha
ReplyDeletehahahaha!! and because you are young too, and then you have a slim body so you are not worry about the fattening donuts~~ :D
Deletebut in case yo are too worried on what to eat i think there are some plans or ways to even out your diet which im not knowledgeable of haha bu ti guess moderation is always one thing safest to do
ReplyDeletethere are always tons of dietary plan out there, but the problem is, i cannot resist nice food and worst still, most of the nice food are not healthy!! :D
DeleteI think my blogging was regularizing now thanks god hehe
ReplyDeletehave a great day sk my friend happy bloggin and god bless you always
you have a great day too, and glad that you are coming back to the blogsphere~~ :D
Deletefood fads...they come and go. you're right about the donuts...now we just wait to see what's next after the bubble teas.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i think the donuts craze started around 2008 or 2009?? can't remember.. give me five and we shall see what's next after the bubble tea.. :D
DeleteHahaha...the other day i baru bought some of the fancy donuts....though wanna post up but lupa...
ReplyDeletehave to dig up the photos and make blog post jor.
ya lor not many people buying jor.
I dont know la. I dont really fancy donuts. EVen if eat also will eat plain ones. Celup Kopi O . Taste good.
Guess that is the way with fads. People will queue up buy then after sometimes will be no more queue
You remember or not when Carrefour newly started selling potatoes bread? RM1-99 or something like that. So many people queue up to buy. But now no queue liao.
hehehe, which one you bought?? Big Orange, Pumpkin Donuts, Crispy and Creamy or J-Corporate?? yalah, post up and then tell the same story like i did, hahaha!! but come to donuts, i also think the traditional sugar ring is the best lah, bought from pasar malam makcik, cheap and nice..
Deletei don't remember the potato bread lah.. but i remember vividly the portuguese egg tarts lor.. everyone was so crazy for it back then, now give for free also not much people want..
一切都係虛幻。
ReplyDelete知否世事常變?? 變幻原是永恆~~ :)
DeleteI still love Dunkin Donuts until today. I only eat 2 flavours only which has vanilla creamy stuffings only. They call it Bavarian. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI had Dunkin Donuts almost everyday for breakfast during my student days in States as they opened one stall below my college building.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started to save money, I learnt to bake giant cup cakes for breakfasts.
