05.11.2012 | 好貴嘢飲

[Volume 7 Issue 11, #1589]
things out there are being sold more and more expensive, especially drinks that are always at a very low cost, but can be charged at almost the price of food, that's why sometimes I rather not order drinks when dining outside.. leave aside restaurants and cafes that can easily charge you RM10 for a cup of drink, now even the coffee shops are charging you RM2 for drinks so diluted that they are almost tasteless!! really make (the stingy) me feel so unwilling to pay for that, what an expensive world!! @.@"

  3. Depending on the outlet, sometimes I'm guilty of buying bottled water from supermarket first before going to makan.

Some outlets now dun even want to serve plain water in glass. I guess not enough untung for them. They force patrons to buy marked-up bottled mineral water from them instead. :-S

They get more profits with the drinks than the food, kot. ):

    1. But very mah farn la if bring own water bottle. Sometimes some outlet dont let leh unless it's small kid la.

Me also usually order chinese tea. But even chinese tea I suspected some shop "recycle" the tea leaves.

      Delete
    2. SP, I kind of agreeing with you. I either BYOB or order Chinese tea, usually ony RM0.40 ( the most expensive charge in Taiping) or I rather go thirsty, then returning to office only drink plain water.

First, I can save money, second I can cut down in taking sugary water.

Anyway, so far Taiping kopitiams are still ok. Not so expensive la!

      Delete
    3. But my girl will bring her own water bottle. So we share. Prefer to drink own water than consuming those dirty water. Do you know they might use tap water?

      Delete
    4. What is BYOB??? Bring Your Own BOOBS!

      Delete
    5. SP always bring his man-boob around what! LOL

Tap water? That's why order hot water as opposed to air suam. Hot water sure kena masak first, right? ;)

If I go Japanese outlets, sure order ocha. Some stupid outlets charges RM2 for a refillable ocha but man, the tea is so diluted, the drink is not green anymore. :(

      Delete
    6. Payung Cafe in Sibu, best lah!!! Big glasses ice-cold water FREE OF CHARGE and can ask for refill again and again... Hehehehehe!!!! Secret Garden here also free... Other cafes...50 sen - RM1.00...and one RM2.00, reverse osmosis drinking water...one glass, plus ice, not even half a small bottle!!! Tsk! Tsk!

      Delete
    7. actually now my wife also practice bring your own boobs .. kakakaka ..
we don't care whether the waitress saw our own drink or not.. just hemtam only..

I was caught up in the Big Cheese's room after leaving 3 comments above. No chance to read the content yet.... reading now.

SK's post is about diluted drinks, hahaha! I'm staying in a small town here, seldom go to chain restaurants which serve RM10 drink per glass. Usually go to kopitiam or hawker center to order herbal drinks prized at RM1. Some shops serve diluted ones, some generous taukes serve tastier drinks.

    1. No point paying so much for diluted drink. Better bring our very own can drinks. They could charge double for any kind of can drinks too.

    2. I like going to places where they'll just put a glass of water in front of you without us asking for it. That's service. :)
