03.06.2012 | 假期作孽

[Volume 7 Issue 6, #1434]
it's school holidays and it reminds me about those holidays homework back then.. frankly, i hate teachers giving holiday homework, it's holiday and why were we not allowed to rest but forced to do homework?? and what lame reason they gave "let's not waste your holidays idling, let me give you homework so that you can pass your time more meaningfully", disgusting!! that was why i always spent the first few days to finish off all homework, so that i can enjoy the rest of my holidays carefree.. how about you?? suffer before enjoy, or just went ahead had enough of fun, only to worry about completing the homework on the very last day?? haha~~ :p

  2. Enough. After 5 consecutive terms (days, I mean), I have decided to retire from active politics, I mean, being First Commenter here.

I credit everyone's support in allowing this to be possible. Thank you.

The field is now open again. Someone can take over from tomorrow onwards. (Do I hear "yays!" and sighs of relief? haha)

Thanks to you too, SK, for coming up with this (stressful but fun) 'challenge'. I shall go back to my usual routine after this.

    Cheerio!

    1. Er, I used to hate teachers for giving so much of homework during school holidays... but come to think of it, it's really a waste of time playing 24/7 during the holidays, right?

Might as well let the kids do some homework or revision.

    2. haha .. yvoonne now you know ....

    1. I also ask my kid to finish up the homework at the beginning of her holidays.

She can enjoy the rest of days watching TV or playing with her toys.

But in between I give her some workbooks to refresh her memory.

      Delete
    2. oo comeone.. school work have to finish and then you add more workbooks... .. ur kids need a break le..

      Delete
    3. Hahaha... cannot break too long, otherwise she'll pass back whatever she learned to her teachers.

  7. but it's up to them as long as they finish them on time.

  8. School-holidays are good for people on the road. There is less traffic. But I suppose that doesn't affect people who take the LRT to work, does it?

    1. school holidays are actually good for parents with school-going kids.

    2. There are pros and cons for parents with school-going kids.

Pros: We don't need to rush for the children to go to / return from school. Traffic is smoother.

Cons: The kids get into more arguments and fights back at home.... or maybe that only happens in my home @__@

      Delete
    3. no wonder my parents don't like school holiday..
prefer me to go to school and study..

      Delete
    4. SP must be initiating lots of argument/fight back at home :p

  9. hahaha... normally i'll just copy everything from friends the last day of holiday or on the spot on the opening of the school day! :P

  13. Nowadays its tough to b kids. teachers always as for parents to co-sign the homework....hmmm..maybe I should say tough to b parents.

    ReplyDelete
  14. In old days mana ada like this. if we tarak do h/w, go back school kena rotan la. now I feel like the school pushing back the work to the parents pulak

    ReplyDelete
  15. I know I shouldnt think like that la coz the school just want parents to b more involved in the kids life. Howe er, just imagine those parents with 3-4 kids...both parents working hard to find $$$ then come home hv to teach kids do homework. if no time teach , kena tuition=extra expenses

    ReplyDelete

    1. Most of my friends rely on tuition to ensure their kids finish their homework.

Me - I have lots of free time so still can afford to look at my son's homework and studies. ;p

      Delete
    2. Either way, it's always good not to rely only to school for our children's future.

Classes now got so many students, cannot just depend at school. That's why children need to do more revision at home; be it with parents or at tuition classes.

      Delete
    3. Lina you must be a Tai Tai.... no need to work one with lots of free time!!!

      Delete
    4. It's hard to cater for 3-4 school-going children, especially for a full time working mother.

I've got 1 kid in school and imagine upon returning from work, I need to assist her in homework + revision and at the same time need to finish my house chores.

I did not send mine to any tuition classes because my time is not enough~

      Delete
    5. Moreover, I want my kids to have a balance in their life - study and play.

Not just study, study and excel with limited play time.

      Delete
    6. Twilight Man,
      No lah!

I just happen to take life easy. Dun wan to stress. Work just enough. Play just enough. No need to kelam kabut. hahaha

    7. I play to the max.. kekeke..
I don't study when it is holiday...

    3. I was a good student back then (note: good, not top student), always finished my homework on the first 2 days of the holidays.

On normal days, I also finished up all the homework before doing revision / watching TV / playing.

      Homework comes first :)

      Delete
    4. Me, on the other hand is a problem student.

Didn't like classes. Hates homeworks and assignments.

I became really, really active in co-curricular activities because that way I can skip classes and attend trainings instead. ;p

Always wondered how I managed to graduate at all. ^^!

    5. But now, have to instil discipline to my son so he won't be a problem student like his Mommy! hu~

  19. If the teachers don't give homework to my son, I give some to him. *evil laugh*

    ReplyDelete
  20. Instead of just mooching around and play like I do when I was in school, my son has to split time for studying, his hobby (arts&crafts), watching TV and playing the computer.

Though I just wish I can slot more time for outdoor activities for him too... but he is not too keen about being out. Don't blame him though. The weather is too hot to enjoy the outdoors now.

This is the time I wish instead of cutting down trees, the authorities and municipal council just let trees grow and give us more shades. :(
