DeleteThat FOONG PC is so detailed and patient. I did learn few tips from his ramblings too. LOL....
DeleteAll your nice photos brought me pleasant memories..............I think I first visited HKG in 1985 and landed at Kai Tak Airport then.
ReplyDeleteso nice, i was still a primary school student in 1985 and Anay has already been to HKG.. my first visit to HKG was 2002, and it's already the new airport..
DeleteThe old HKG was kinda boring then...everyday I had to take boats to Lantau Island on choppy seas! Errr, stayed at my sister's house at Yee Keng Wan....
Deletethat should have been [pain]..... lol
ReplyDeleteI have visited HKG over 10 times but never been to Po Lin Monastery!! Sigh!! Which deity is being worshipped there??
ReplyDeleteit's just opposite the giant buddha.. i've been there many times.. everytime there are friends visiting me in HKG, i will bring them there, haha!!
DeleteOh you were a tour guide ka? How about tour Chennai?
Deletewow 1500 photos... if you're going to share them all.. it might take you a month long or so haha
ReplyDeleteand I think that's pretty hard to choose huh...
ReplyDeleteand i'm definitely not going to share all of them.. i don't want to bore my readers.. hahaha!! that's why better select a handful of nice ones to share.. :)
DeleteI saw many streets that had many steep steps! I didn't know got Ladder Street!! You invented the name ka?
ReplyDeleteThat stairs look familiar.... it appears in many many TVB series. Or do they have other look-a-like stairs as these?
Deletethere's really a street called Ladder Street 樓梯街 in Sheung Wan, i didn't invented that, haha!! actually there's another street with ladder too, but i didn't go there this time..
DeleteHeh! Heh! Now I recalled that I climbed that stairs on February 5, 1997 and it was bloody cold winter day! I totally forgot about it until you mentioned Sheung Wan. My ex agency was there.
Deletehong kong cultural center.. and then theres convention and exhibition center... gosh I'm confused... I wonder what's the difference between the two...? O_O
ReplyDeleteerrr, both are different places.. the cultural center is mainly for performing arts, the convention center is mainly for exhibitions.. and there's actually another HK Expo somewhere else too, hahaha!! they really have lots of such centers in HK.. :)
DeleteLOL never been to any cultural or convention center hahaha that's why I can't tell the difference LOL
Deleteso the he golden bauhinia square is the New York Time Square version of Hong Kong???
ReplyDeleteerrr, not really.. they do have their Times Square actually nearby, which is actually a shopping mall..
DeleteI think Times Square is at Causeway Bay and very exciting at night. I love that shopping center.....forgot its name.
DeleteChinese architectures and designs never failed to impress me.. just look how detailed they are.. those are pretty cool
ReplyDeleteoh I remember you mentioned this disneyland hotel... that's why I thought you went there too? You went to Disney right???
ReplyDeletenope, i didn't go to Disneyland or stayed in the Disneyland Hotel.. just dropped by the hotel for high tea on my way back to the city.. :D
DeleteAh I see... so no Mickey and friends photos huhuhu ? LOL
Deletehow do you manage to take the birds eye view of skyscrappers of wanchai and central??? are you standing in a platform or something or maybe you're in a flyover
ReplyDeleteyeah, i was on a pedestrian bridge.. they have lots of pedestrian bridges linking buildings and buildings..
Deleteso they'll cook that fish straight from the aquarium as you order? that's very interesting..
ReplyDeleteyes!! you can either buy your seafood from the fisherman at the harbour and get the restaurant to cook, or you can pick any seafood from their aquarium and they'll cook straight away for you.. :)
DeleteI only got 15 photos here... you said 28 right... am I missing a link?
ReplyDelete28 as in the total of today's and yesterday's post.. i didn't count the cover photo featuring the words of hong kong, haha~~
Deletethanks for sharing SK.. have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteSK, I like 上環 樓梯街
ReplyDeleteladder street @ sheung wan the most.
It gives me so much memory of TVB dramas scenes.
ReplyDeleteI remember this ladder street, because the actor and attress like to kiss or lovey dovey here.
ReplyDeleteSometimes also got gangsters fighting at this ladder street.
ReplyDeleteOr just purely got actor and attress walking up and down this ladder.
ReplyDeleteHuh! I can't name all, but it is just too many memory for me.
ReplyDeletehahahaha!! i think we've seen many of this ladder street in the TVB series huh?? but i didn't climb that lah, the photo shows only half of it.. i don't think i have the courage to climb all the way up, haha!! just take photo from down there and that's it lah~~ :D
DeleteActually we watched the same steps taken inside TVB studios which they always showed old sword fighters chasing people up the stairs. Let me see whether I can dig my TVB photos and blog about it.
Delete啲街景熟口熟面喔!哈哈
ReplyDeleteB. that pic reminds me of Barbie doll :)
ReplyDeleteThat convention and exhibition center... hmm, reminded me that Jackie Chan shot one scene here in his movie, and I can't remember what movie :p
ReplyDeleteE. saw many people snapping photo of that flower. got special meaning ka?
ReplyDeletethe golden bauhinia is the symbol of china.. just like lotus represents macao.. this is the place where the flag of HK is risen on 1st July 1997..
DeleteLotus represents Macau??? I didn't know that was lotus! LOL... Kekekeke
Deleteoh i see. I didnt know that. Katak bawah tempurung ;P

DeleteSai yong choy street?? They name the street after a vege?
ReplyDeleteThey sure give many funny names to their streets .... do you chance upon soy sauce street?? They have this see-yau street near to lady street.
ReplyDeleteI sure like the naming, very easy to remember. We here name the streets based on dunno-which-tun-or-datuk names.
ReplyDeleteSorry, dude, I can't remember those lengthy names.
yes, the names of the streets in mongkok are actually quite funny.. they have sai yong choi, tong choi (that is the lady's street).. and definitely the soy sauce street, haha!! besides they have washing clothes street, dying cloth streets etc~~ :p
DeleteIf there's no caption on the sky100 observation deck, I would thought that it's so luxurious to have a nursery up up in the sky.
ReplyDeleteThe decoration is so suitable for nurseries :p
theres indeed a lot to see and visit in hongkong,
ReplyDeletethe architecture the places was just so wonderful
yeah, i think it's a nice place to go.. they have blend the modern and the traditional all together to form a lively city!! :)
Deletetnx for dropping by at my blog happy blogging
ReplyDeleteClick a few, no photos of you...so I gave up! :(
ReplyDeletehaiyoh, you want to see me only?? i thought you should be enjoying the places in HK~~ :D
DeleteSee..STP also wanna see your photo
Deletegreetings from krakow..leaving Poland soon to Czech..
ReplyDeleteIt must have been messy in the rain at Lantau Island?
ReplyDeleteLOL - Your source caption fits so well in the Mongkok shot. Cool!
I never knew this flight of stairs has a name, Ladder Street. This must be one of Hkg's most filmed streets. Thanks for sharing.
The sky100 observation deck shot reminds me of a similar huge glass panel up in Gentings. Only thing is, it's a picture of the entire Genting complex. That one is very nice.
1500 shots taken in nine days? That's a lot. It would mean about 167 shots a day and if in the old days of film, it would amount to approx 4.6 rolls of 36 exposures.
Good thing in current times of digital technology, spoilt or less-than-perfect shots can easily be erased. Imagine formerly, 4.6 rolls of shots may not come out 100% perfect shots resulting in some wastage.
Thanks for sharing, SK. That'll be some sorting involved.
yeah, it was messy!! it suddenly rained heavily when we were walking down the stairs from the giant buddha!! how awkward, even with umbrella we still got wet..
Deletehaha, i try to place that nicely in every photo so they fit and look nicer~~ :)
1500 sounds a lot but if you divide that by 9 days, meaning just 167 photos a day is not a lot actually, haha!! very true with digital camera, we just don't have to worry taking as much as we can.. :)
you should add me on fb too :p
ReplyDeleteHK is like heaven :D i wanna see what you manage to shop there~
